Mario’s message in Shreveport Saturday Night

Summary of tonight’s message:  Losing America for all of the Wrong Reasons.

By Mario Murillo

Tonight,  my heart breaks for the disastrous state of my country.  Given the dysfunction of Washington and the arrogance that pervades it, it would be easy to blame it all on the ruling party.  However, that would not be a fair analysis.  There is something else that is terribly, terribly wrong.

This message is for every church in America.  It is the story of two men who never should have met.  We are talking about two men who had one chance in a billion of ever meeting!   However, when they did meet it changed the world.

Here is the back story:  King David got his first warning in 1 Samuel 25 about revenge.  Nabal insulted him and David vowed to kill every male in Nabal’s family.  Abigail, Nabal’s wife heard of the threat and intervened.  She brought David food and reminded David that he was blessed because he only fought God’s battles.  This saved David from committing murder.

In 1Samuel 29, David is tempted again to seek revenge but this time against his nation Israel.  This time the Philistines themselves stop him.

In 1 Samuel 30, we see that by going out with the Philistines, David left Ziglag his home village unguarded.  Amalekite raiders burn Ziglag and take David’s family and all of his men’s families.

In desperation, David rides out to seek the raiders.  He happens upon a slave who was left to die by the Amalekites.  David gives him water and food.  This slave takes David to the men who stole his family.   David fights a valiant and decisive battle recovering all with more besides.

Here are my points:

1. These two men should never have met.  By meeting they saved each other and Israel.   The American church can recover everything she lost including American Exceptionalism by going out and rescuing the slaves.  The American Church is stuck not knowing which way to go. We have to drop what we are doing; even the most precious programs, and go after those that no one wants.  We must rescue them, feed them, and heal them.

In doing this, we will see God transform the slaves of the evil one into an army that can lead the Church to a great awakening.

2.  Everyone who is reading this is listening to me has already had someone come into your life in an unexplainable way.  They are not a person you should have met. You don’t even need to go out and find them; they are already in your life.  You cannot explain how they got there!

We do not even need to be bold or articulate.  These desperate souls wait for a word of hope.  We have held up that word too long.  We cannot afford to waste any more opportunities.

3. We cannot justify wasting our resources on each other.  We have preached to each other too much. The fantastic worship in our churches should be directed at the dying slaves! We must not waste time with belligerent scoffers.  We must focus on those crying out for help!

David almost died on the wrong battlefield.  He nearly committed the greatest waste of talent and wisdom in history!  We too face the threat of being distracted with counterfeit purposes.  We must speak out and rescue dying slaves.

Yes, this article is soooo true, its time to talk about the gospel to people outside our walls that we as believers build. I completely understand , how long will believers preach and worship to each other , we can’t keep saving ourselves over and over .
