The devil fears you. Here is his greatest fear about you. That you would find the one ingredient that would make you unstoppable. There are 5 things that can change a person. They are: Lust, ambition, hatred, love and then there is a 5th element that is more powerful than all of those…but what is it?
We will see it in the story of a king, King Josiah. He was raised without moral training. He never had to work. He was oblivious to education. There was no DNA for greatness there at all.
Not only that, but He came from an evil background. His grandfather Manasseh, and his father Amon.
His grandfather Mannaseh: 2 Kings 21 :2 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel. 3 For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; he raised up altars for Baal, and made a wooden image, as Ahab king of Israel had done; and he worshiped all the host of heaven and served them.
His father Amon: 2 Kings 21:20 “And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh had done. 21 So he walked in all the ways that his father had walked; and he served the idols that his father had served, and worshiped them. 22 He forsook the LORD God of his fathers, and did not walk in the way of the LORD.”
Yet Josiah became the most radically righteous King in history: 2 Kings 23: 25 Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the LORD with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him.
Our story begins. 2Kings 22:8 Then Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the Book of the Law in the house of the LORD.” And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it. 11 Now it happened, when the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, that he tore his clothes.
How could reading a book ignite the most amazing revival? 2 Kings 23:16 As Josiah turned, he saw the tombs that were there on the mountain. And he sent and took the bones out of the tombs and burned them on the altar, and defiled it according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words. 17 Then he said, “What gravestone is this that I see?” So the men of the city told him, “It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and proclaimed these things which you have done against the altar of Bethel.”
Here is the rest of the story. At the dawn of Israel’s dark ages a prophet comes out of nowhere and predicts a miracle in the future.
1Kings 13:1 And behold, a man of God went from Judah to Bethel by the word of the LORD, and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense. 2 Then he cried out against the altar by the word of the LORD, and said, “O altar, altar! Thus says the LORD: ‘Behold, a child, Josiah by name, shall be born to the house of David; and on you he shall sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and men’s bones shall be burned on you.’”
This is what Josiah read, the Book of first Kings chapter 13! It was 355 years old! What would you do if read a newspaper hundreds of years old and predicted your birth, said your name and listed the achievements of your life in advance! I’ll be you would be stunned. I’ll bet that you would know that nothing could stop you. Yet this is the very thing that Satan does not want you to see.
Your name is in the book and there is a description of your life! “I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh and your sons and daughters will prophesy!” Satan does not want you to see that you are here by design and that he is powerless to stop your destiny!
