Be the Terror
By Mario Murillo
Precious Partner in the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
Back when the Twin Towers fell our leaders said, “Live as normal a life as possible in the face of terrorism; realize that there are terrorists but do not be terrorized.”
Psalm 91: 5 “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.”
These verses not only promise us that we will not fear the terror but that we can be the terror!
Fast forward to now and what you see is that many of our fellow citizens are currently economically terrorized.
This economic terror is bringing out the worst in some Americans. It has caused our leaders in both parties to scream and yell rather than find solutions. Cases of men killing their wives and children and then taking their own lives are at an all time high.
The church has been also terrorized. It is ironic but back when Americans gorged themselves on materialism the church burned vast amounts of money trying to coddle and persuade them with a watered down Gospel. Now millions of our fellow citizens are broken and responsive to the real Gospel and churches have shut down their outreach! Panic will always get you to do the one thing that you should not do.
Recently, I made the time to minister in a small church. Notable miracles happened, many souls were saved and the church was packed. Everyone knew that something big had begun and so I agreed to return a month later. Just days before the meeting the Pastor calls to tell my assistant that it is cancelled and he offered no explanation; none was needed. He was financially terrorized. Here was the harvest he waited for all of his life. Here was his chance to see supernatural provision. He missed it!
It is not because ministries have no money that they do not win souls; it is because they do not win souls that they have no money. This simple truth has guided Mario Murillo Ministries through countless storms. Since I know that we are going to get through this storm, I have made the decision to keep every outreach in place.
I do not want you terrorized; I want you to be the terror. My decision is not just an act of obedience; it is an act of defiance against Satan! Instead of feeling terror I have decided to be the terror! Now I want Lucifer to feel the panic and dread of your bold faith! I want you to be the terror! I want you to declare that you are an overcomer; that you will not let Satan rob you of the abundant life God vowed to give you. And, that despite all of the threats, you are going to move forward with every vision and dream that God has given you.
This quote from Corallie Buchanan sums up how you should view your Heavenly Father in this time of terror:
“He is your Father, and His role is to protect you; He will comfort you and guide you. He will feed you; He will carry you when you are weak. He will seek you out when you go astray; He will help you in times of trouble. He will not let your enemies go unpunished; He will cherish you like a father cherishes his daughter. When you fall, He will pick you up; when you don’t understand, He will always understand.
When you feel like life is weighing you down, He will lift you up. When you feel like giving up, He will encourage you to keep going. When you are sad, He will lighten your spirits. When you need advice, His line is open 24-7. When you feel unsafe, He will be your safety; when you are worried, He will be an ear to your concerns. When you feel burdened, offer your burden to Him and He will take it. Where you have been burnt, He will make you beautiful; where you hurt, He will heal. Whenever you feel lonely, He will always be with you.
Where others have not supported you, He will support you. When you feel discouraged, He will be your encouragement. Where you don’t know, He will tell you when the time is right. When you feel unloved, remember that He has always loved you.
You see limitations; God sees opportunities. You see faults; God sees growth. You see problems; God sees solutions. You see limitations; God sees possibilities. You see life; God sees eternity.”
