How do we turn the American Church Around?

The church in America is in the middle of a powerful storm that is only getting worse. Christian leaders are stunned by what they see, a culture that is openly hostile to biblical Christianity and a church whose life signs are fading fast.
Disillusioned pastors are leaving the ministry every day. Churches are closing everywhere. And the majority of those that didn’t quit the ministry feel an intense frustration.
We know that we cannot just keep doing what we are doing or it will be too late to do anything. However, you gentle reader dare not go any further until you see one thing: While the situation is dire and we are facing an enemy of the American Church like we have never faced before, we dare not forget our history of revival in our darkest moments. God can and will mount an attack that is more than equal to this threat.
Israel never faced anything like Goliath and now we have our Goliath. Nevertheless, the words of David ring true to us today: 1 Samuel 17: 34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, 35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.”
In no way did David resemble a warrior fit to face Goliath but he was God’s choice. The American Church will not be turned around by supermen but by supernatural men. We do not need better equipment, new organizations, novel methods, but vessels that the Holy Ghost can use—vessels who pray with prevailing might. God does not flow through religious machinery but through human beings, he does not anoint plans, but people—people of prayer.
This is the occasion for leaders who are set apart in prayer that only go out in service at the direct command of God. Such lives can accomplish truly mighty things, things mighty enough to change the course of history.
Why not you? You serve the God who hears and answers. Don’t look at the limits of your talent but at the unlimited power of God. Focus on where you are and the single step in the right direction that you must take. 1 Samuel 10: 6, 7 Says, “Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. 7 And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do as the occasion demands; for God is with you.”
