Power to Save a Nation Fell On Reno Nevada
by Mario Murillo
She had been bedridden most of the last 8 years. Her body was attacking itself. She takes the extraordinary step of faith to come to the Convention last night. The Holy Spirit reveals in detail what is happening in her body and then this happened: Power, raw power, living power coursed through her body and made her well, completely well. She gleefully demonstrated the full and free use of her arms and legs. She could not remember the last time that she felt no pain, no weakness and no despair.
A young generation of believers had never seen a miracle. The impact was stunning and the effect will be lasting.
Lasting results are the hallmark of this first Living Proof World Convention. From the jump there was no doubt about the hunger of the people. Hunger does not begin to describe it! The unexpected crowd of spiritual warriors that came to Reno made it plain that they want America to be saved.
Worship led by Jason Michael, the worship team from Day3 Church in Los Banos California, and Alyssa Friend was powerful and irresistible. The blend of voices and instruments did not just hit you. It went through you!
Dan Wilhelm of the NRA, Jim Carpenter of the Bridge of Yuba City, Sonny Lara Apostle of Star of David Ministries, , Pastor Stan Friend who leads C5 Church in Carson City NV, and Pastor Jim Willoughby of Echoes of Faith, Ontario CA all took a turn at igniting revival in the hearts of the people.
God spoke loud and clear. The Holy Spirit emblazoned 3 messages in me. Each was a call. The Power, The Work, The Stand. Below is a summary of each message.
The Power: “I do not fear for Christianity, I fear for America. Jesus said that the gates of hell would not prevail against the church. Christianity will survive without America but America will not survive without Christianity.
I am also here to recruit you to be a part of our Living Proof Crusades. These are citywide events that are ordained of God to introduce a new generation to Christ the miracle worker.
Let us begin by repenting of our greatest sin. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to run the Church, grow the Church. He was sent to make us effective and relevant to the culture.
We are guilty of taking away His authority and running the church by our own wits. We have failed miserably. Sadly, even failure has not stopped men from controlling the things of God.
We must ask for power, we must wait for power. We must seek utterly convinced that power is coming but at the same time brutally committed to wait as long as it takes.
It is all summed up in the words of Samuel to Saul: 1 Samuel 10:6 Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. 7 And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do as the occasion demands; for God is with you.”
The Work: It is time to let God deliver you from feverish activity and show us the real way to live. Nothing ever said it better than these words from God Calling: “The world has always seen service for me to be activity. Only those near to me have seen that a life apart, of prayer, may, and does so often, accomplish more that all of the service man can offer me. If man lived apart with Me and only went out to serve at My direct command My Spirit could operate more and accomplish truly mighty things. The world does not need supermen but supernatural men. People who will persistently turn the self out of their lives and let Divine Power work through them. Do not fear unemployment! God always has plenty of work to be done and always pays His workers well.”
We will be judged. It will be clear what we did in our own power and what God did through us. 1 Corinthians 3: 12 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.
Billy Graham said this, “God’s idea of strength and man’s idea of strength are opposite one another.
The Lord told Paul, “My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Cor. 12:9) having learned this lesson, Paul could then say, “when I am weak then I am strong (2 Cor. 12:10). A paradox? Not really. Only when Paul admitted to his own weakness and was willing to get out of the way could God take over and work.
If we tried to do God’s will in our own strength, then we can take the credit for whatever gets accomplished. But that is in God’s way! When we left his strength work through us, then he alone will get the glory– and that is as it should be.”
It is a happy day when we fall before God and declare our utter powerlessness to do the work of God. Because he is God, He is not fooled by the avalanche of evil. He is not surprised by the sudden changes that have made life so difficult for us.
From the moment that hell belched out its latest threat against the church, the Holy Spirit began to unfold a strategy. We have nothing more to do than two fold ourselves into that strategy and live by the clear and loving commands that emerge from prayer and obedience.
- M. Bounds said, “What the Church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use — men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men — men of prayer.”
The Stand: You have to stand for something. We have all seen ministers on the Larry King Show or with Oprah completely cave in on their convictions when they were asked straight questions. The Bible says:
Proverbs 25: 26 A righteous man who falters before the wicked Is like a murky spring and a polluted well.
In order to stand you must follow clear instructions. “Put on the whole armor of God”, means exactly that: All! It is tragic that many put on a part of the armor but feel entitled to all of the protection.
Ephesians 6: 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
Acts 5: 17 Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation, 18 and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison. 19 But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, 20 “Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.”
God provoked the Sadducees to arrest all of the apostles. The angel refreshed their focus. Stand together, in the heart of the city, and tell all of the words of this life.
When we take a stand against our flesh, and then take a stand against the evil one, we are able to take a stand in a culture that hates our message.”
The end result of the convention was faith in the power of God to rescue America, a fresh endowment of power, and a rock solid conviction never to back down, slow down or back away from our preordained victory.
It is only after the convention ended and I had my first full night of sleep in a blue moon does it really dawn on me what God has done. Living Proof is now fully operational. A family has formed that has a heart for the lost and America. We all left the mediocre and the mundane behind forever. We have seen the glory and received the power. Amen!
