4 Things the Church must do now that we are illegal

By Mario Murillo

Yes,  we are now illegal.  Bobby Jindal is right.  He said, “’The Supreme Court decision today conveniently and not surprisingly follows public opinion polls, and tramples on states’ rights that were once protected by the 10th Amendment of the Constitution. Marriage between a man and a woman was established by God, and no earthly court can alter that. This decision will pave the way for an all-out assault against the religious freedom rights of Christians who disagree with this decision.’ “

So what do we do now that the Supreme Court overruled our freedom of speech and freedom of worship?  These verses give us the answer:

“But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brethren. 3 Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.” – Acts 14:2-3

This model says, “stand your ground, push back on the poisoning of minds and let God confirm His message through us with miracles.  To get to this level, we must take these 4 steps.

raw bravery

1.Do nothing without prayer: When leaders from the underground church in China toured America they said, “It is amazing what you have been able to do without the Holy Spirit.”

Let us begin by repenting of our greatest mistake.  Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to run the Church, grow the Church.  He was sent to make us effective and relevant to the culture.

We are guilty of taking away His authority and running the church by our own wits.  We have failed miserably.  Sadly, even failure has not stopped men from controlling the things of God.

In every generation hell belches out a new weapon of mass destruction.  Heaven is neither passive nor taken by surprise.  God creates a weapon of choice by the anointing.  Then He seeks that one who will take up that weapon in the Name of Jesus and thrust it into the heart of darkness.

The American death march that culminated in legalized gay marriage did not surprise the Holy Spirit.  He already knew and is driving us to prayer for an effective counter-attack.   He will create a new breed for this new need.

It is all summed up in the words of Samuel to Saul: 1 Samuel 10:6-7, “Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. 7 And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do as the occasion demands; for God is with you.”

Waiting on God for power is the highest duty of a preacher.  Prayer must saturate us before we go forth. Those who believe that God must instantly honor our prayers are deluded by modern church entitlement.   We must seek, utterly convinced that power is coming, but at the same time brutally committed to wait as long as it takes.

However, as you will now see, we dare abuse prayer or wait to act when God speaks.

prayer blog art

2. After you pray and hear from God, obey!   Numbers 22: 18-19, Says, “Then Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak, ‘Though Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the word of the Lord my God, to do less or more. 19 Now therefore, please, you also stay here tonight, that I may know what more the Lord will say to me.’”

Balaam acted noble but greed was in his heart.  He totally contradicts himself.  First he says, “Keep your money, God said No.”  Then he asks the money people to spend the night to see if God changes His mind.

The classic reaction to my blogs on America’s disaster is, “All we need to do is pray.”  Nobody believes in the power of prayer more than I do.  However, there is a widespread abuse of prayer.  Prayer is being used as an excuse for delay, remain silent, and escape.

The key to the Lord’s Prayer is, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”  Prayer is going to give you direction.  If you pray until you get the direction you like you have the spirit of Balaam.

This abuse of prayer even hit Moses.  He knew what he was supposed to lead the people through the Red Sea.  God got angry!  Exodus 14:15 says, “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving!’”

Disobedience is a prime reason we have lost this generation.   Many were told what to do about the nation and simply ignored it.  Intercession has even become a substitute for soul-winning.

God has been offering wisdom, direction, and power during the entire Obama regime.  We are at the point of destruction because few leaders have listened and obeyed.

If God sees that you want no part of the warfare, that you refuse to touch the unlovely, and you simply do not want to deal with your local human tragedy, then He will skip over you to find the burning one.

God anoints people to speak truth to power.  How can someone think they are a prophet if they refuse to rebuke the King?

Dear Pastor, do you know where you stand on abortion, same-sex marriage and this frenzy to erase Christianity in America…or, are you still praying about it?

SignJudgeNot

3. Ignore the accusations of hate: When Christians address gay marriage they often begin with a disclaimer: “I am not trying to be hateful.” Quit wasting time with misnomers. There is no widespread hatred of gays in the church.  The hate is not coming from us, it is coming at us!  The slander, smearing, obscene language, and death threats are spewing out of radical feminists, and gay activists, not Christians.

Simply speak the truth in love.  Do not apologize or condemn.  Offending people is unavoidable.   Save your energy, tell it straight and leave the results in God’s hands.

4. We must make way for signs and wonders. They are the only way we will get our message across.

The miracles of Jesus not only continue today, they must accelerate.  The phrase, “speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands,”  speaks loud and clear to our time.

There are churches that oppose the supernatural and there are those that abuse the supernatural.  My opinion on miracles is sandwiched between two extremes.   My reverence for the gifts of the Spirit compels me to seek balance.

Those who have banned miracles and those who binge on emotionalism must both repent.  We need meetings where people see the power of God confirming our message.

History teaches us something important: When the Word of God is summarily rejected and immorality has spiked, the Holy Spirit has more than met the challenge with increased power to preach and towering miracles to confirm the message.

Finally, all four of these actions are summed up in the reality that we are at war.  We did not pick this fight but, by God, we are going to finish it.

What do we do now?

SCOTUS_GAY_MARRIAGE copy

Gay Marriage is the law of the land what do we do now?

By Mario Murillo

1. We must be clear about what just happened. For the first time in American history the highest court in the land has made it illegal to be a Bible-believing Christian. That’s right; you are not legally allowed to practice your faith from this point on.

Of course the court will never admit that.  And, like Jimmy Carter’s 55 miles per hour speed limit, it may not be enforced, at least not yet.  That comes later when the public gains the stomach for persecuting Christians.

Let’s be extremely clear about all of this.  The Supreme Court out and out violated the Constitution of the United States by overruling the right of the states to decide marriage.

Supreme Court Justice Alito agrees: “Alito wrote, “Today’s decision usurps the constitutional right of the people to decide whether to keep or alter the traditional understanding of marriage.”

 2.  The goal isn’t equality – it’s abolishing an institution.

What just happened has nothing to do with equal rights for gays.  It is only about destroying marriage as an institution.

We can sort out six developments that indicate we’re on the fast track to abolishing civil marriage. They include: 1) The blueprint for abolishing family, developed by the founder of feminist legal theory, Martha Fineman; 2) support and advocacy of  Fineman’s model by facilitators and regulators in the Obama Administration; 3) the statements of prominent LGBT activists themselves, including their 2006 manifesto which in effect established the abolition of marriage as the goal of the same sex marriage movement; 4) the demographic shift to single rather than married households; 5) the growing shift in social climate from marriage equality to marriage hostility; and 6) the recent push to export the LGBT agenda globally, particularly targeting poor and developing nations of Africa.

removing family

5. The Gender Theorist Model: Replace civil marriage with government-regulated contractual relationships.  Stella Morabito adds:
Collectivist style parenting may still seem like the stuff of science fiction to a lot of folks, but the ground for it has softened a lot since Hillary Clinton’s 1996 treatise It Takes a Village and American Federation of Teachers president Sandra Feldman’s 1998 op-ed “The Childswap Society.” We now have MSNBC anchor Melissa Harris-Perrydeclaring open war on traditional families by announcing “We have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families and recognize that kids belong to whole communities.”
She envisages that the State will fill the vacuum left by the abolition of family

The abolition of marriage and family has been a longtime project of gender theorists. Among them is internationally renown feminist law theorist Martha Albertson Fineman whose 2004 book The Autonomy Myth argues strenuously for “the abolition of marriage as a legal category.” Her treatise is breathtaking in its brazen approach to ending family autonomy and privacy.

Fineman advocates for a system that would unavoidably result in the regulation of personal relationships through legal contracts. “Contract,” she writes “is an appealing metaphor with which to consider social and political arrangements. It imagines autonomous adults” hashing out the terms, etc. Yet she envisages that the State will fill the vacuum left by the abolition of family [emphasis added]:

“. . . in addition to contract rules, I anticipate that ameliorating doctrines would fill the void left by the abolition of this aspect of family law. In fact, it seems apparent to me that a lot more regulation (protection) would occur once interactions between individuals within families were removed from behind the veil of privacy that now shields them.”

Fineman operates on the apparent assumption that family privacy serves no purpose other than to afford institutional protection for men behaving badly. Her prescription is sweeping: “Once the institutional protection [is] removed, behavior would be judged by standards established to regulate interactions among all members of society.” [emphasis added]
maxresdefault

“Gay marriage is a lie,” announced gay activist Masha Gessen in a panel discussion last year at the Sydney Writers’ Festival. “Fighting for gay marriage generally involves lying about what we’re going to do with marriage when we get there.”  [Applause.] “It’s a no-brainer that the institution of marriage should not exist.”
Gessen was merely echoing a message from an LGBT manifesto of 2006 called Beyond Same Sex Marriage. The manifesto is a blatant rallying cry to bring about a post-marriage society, one in which there is no room for state-recognized marriage.

There you have it. All of your social interactions judged by certain standards. Standards established by whom? The state. And lest our eyes glaze over at mention of it, we ought to think of the State for what it really is: a hierarchy of cliques, with one dominant clique at the top. (Think mean girls in charge of everything and everyone.)

Fineman replaces the word “spouse” with the term “sexual affiliate,” because, she professes, what we think of as “family” should be defined by its function, not its form. In other words, only “caretaker-dependent relationships” would be recognized in the sense that “family” is recognized today.
So the abolition of marriage, according to Fineman:

“would mean that sexual affiliates (formerly labeled husband and wife) would be regulated by the terms of their individualized agreements, with no special rules governing fairness and no unique review or monitoring of the negotiation process.”

Feel better?  Fineman also states approvingly that:

“if the family is defined functionally, focused on the caretaker-dependent relationship, the traditionally problematic interactions of sexual affiliates (formerly designated “spouses”) are not protected by notions of family privacy.”

Indeed, no interaction could be protected by “notions of family privacy” in Fineman’s model. She elaborated further and more recently on all of this in an October 2013 article in the Chicago-Kent Law Review.

No one blog can possibly answer the question, “What do we do now?”  For starters, pastors need to issue an engraved apology to all of those voices they vilified.   Men and women of God warned you again and again that the Christian church should unify and condemn the acts of Barrack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Eric Holder.

Now the Orwellian nightmare you assured us would never happen is here.  Tomorrow I speak out to the core who are willing to see this disaster turned around

THE COMING PERSECUTION AND THE COMING POWER

THE COMING PERSECUTION AND THE COMING POWER

By Mario Murillo

As I prayed, I experienced colliding emotions of dread and excitement.  The Holy Spirit made it clear that persecution against Christians is going to spike in the United States in the next few months.  He also made it clear that this would touch off a towering flow of miracles of healing.

I was led to a specific moment recorded in the Book of Acts: Acts 12:1-3, “Now about that time Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church. 2 Then he killed James the brother of John with the sword. 3 And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to seize Peter also.”

That mood, the one that pleases people when Christians are harassed and blamed, is upon us.  I am warning you that it will start within weeks, and the mindless ferocity of it will surprise you.

Satan wants America destroyed.   It is the grand prize.  With America gone, the devil can unleash worldwide devastation.   But the global tyranny that he craves cannot happen until the American firewall is removed.

He also knows that he can only destroy America from within.  Somehow, he must pit us against each other.

The only deterrent to civil war at this point is Christianity. Notice that I do not say the church, I say Christianity.  The church is sidelined by equal parts division and denial.  The Christianity that seeps out despite religion is the only thing protecting us.

destruction of family small

The only reason there was no rioting, looting, or arson in Charleston was Christians.  Individual believers, under the impulse of faith and forgiveness, won the day.

The devil’s weapon of choice is hate.  He must foment hate.  Today, that hate is coming from secular progressives who seek social justice. The things that were once loving, moral and trustworthy, including marriage, manhood, military service, freedom of speech, witnessing, the Bible and, yes, freedom itself, are now hateful.

Don’t let them fool you with the term “new normal.”  Their new normal is nothing but the old abnormal.

Hitler fueled a frenzy of hatred by blaming anything and everything bad on the Jews. He created a new form of right and wrong that made it your duty to hate Jews.

Today, as it was in Nazi Germany, only one side of the story is allowed in the media.  Only one narrative is legal.  That narrative redefines every element of our daily lives.  Even Tylenol has a commercial meant to brainwash you about gay marriage.

Why on earth would Tylenol feel the need to weigh in on gay marriage?  The answer is chilling: it is economics.   This is an early version of the mark of the beast.  The beast will bankrupt any business that stands against gay marriage.  You are not allowed an opinion on this or any other pet peeve of the social justice movement.

My great heartache is in the fact that God has lovingly been warning the American Church.  He has repeatedly ordered the church to stand as one against immorality, but she has flatly refused.  God reserves the right to allow persecution if it will wake up the church and spare the nation.

Look at these verses: Isaiah 8:5-8, “The Lord also spoke to me again, saying: 6 “Inasmuch as these people refused the waters of Shiloah that flow softly, and rejoice in Rezin and in Remaliah’s son; 7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord brings up over them the waters of the River, strong and mighty—The king of Assyria and all his glory; He will go up over all his channels and go over all his banks. 8 He will pass through Judah, He will overflow and pass over, He will reach up to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings will fill the breadth of Your land, O Immanuel.”  Why would God side with Israel’s enemy?  They had rejected the countless gentle tugs and warnings.GodBlessAmerica

Is there any good news in this?  There is much good news, but only for a certain group.  A core of Christians who refuse to side with the compromised church, and who are seeking Jesus, will be protected and used mightily.

After this, Herod arrested Peter, but an angel appeared and brought him out.  This miracle ignited the church.  I am telling you what the Holy Spirit has told me.  Every vessel that seeks God right now will receive greater power and greater miracles.

Call it legend, call me crazy, but I know that this wave of persecution is here.  We can turn it all around.  We can regain lost ground.  Those who disobey God cannot escape this misery and those who obey God will not be denied special grace and increased supernatural power.

Politicians shouldn’t read too much into the storyline that Americans have become anti or non-Christian

Hogwash!

As our nation grows, and the younger generations are fed a constant stream of culture that debases religion and Christian values, folks have become less likely to identify with organized religion. The theory is that with fewer people identifying as Christians, their power at the ballot box will be diminished. There is only one problem—Christians still make up the vast majority of American adults and still have the potential to affect change at the ballot box.

Of course, it’s not news that mainline Protestant church membership is falling, and the Catholic Church’s woes have been widely reported. But the Pew study showed only a 0.9% reduction in evangelical Protestants. Considering the growth of the nation and the anti-Christian memes flooding social media and inundating pop culture, evangelicals have remained pretty steady.

So what do these trends foretell for the upcoming elections? Not what you might think.

Even before this troubling trend was reported, too many Christian voters had dropped out of the political process already. In the past decade, about 78 million U.S. adults self-identified as evangelical in their beliefs, but reportedly only about 46 million were registered to vote, and only about 28 million cast a ballot in the 2004 presidential race.

We regularly see reports of Christian-bashing across the nation: secular activists challenging the right of Christians to engage in the public debates; cities trying to subpoena pastors sermons, emails, and private notes; the restriction of school children praying of their own volition; our president scolding pastors on medieval history and equating the holy crusades with the modern-day threats from ISIS.

These attacks on Christianity have the potential to create a populist movement across America, uniting Christians who have become disillusioned with government institutions and political leaders, and who are fed up with the attacks on the Christian values that built our nation. The candidates who speak to evangelicals and their values, and who actively seek their support will find a massive latent block of voters waiting to be excited.

Those looking to forecast the end of the evangelical voting block should take a careful look at one of the lessons from Barack Obama’s 2008 election—who comes out to vote matters.

Just a small increase in the turnout of the evangelical vote could change the political landscape dramatically. It is just these type of studies and reports on the demise of the religion that will drive even more public debate about the need for Christian values. The logical result will be a clearing of the pews on Election Day.

Woe to the political leaders who read too much into the story line that Americans have become anti or non-Christian. The power of those who can engage faith-based voters will be unleashed during this election cycle. Too much is at stake for it to be ignored.

Americans still have a strong sense of right and wrong, an innate sense of fairness, and a belief in the enduring truths that are taught in the Bible. These ideals are the rock of our society. There are millions of evangelicals looking for a leader willing to fight to put them back into our culture and government.

Pastors under siege: what to do when integrity and truth become a liability

Pastors under siege: what to do when integrity and truth become a liability

By Mario Murillo

A pastor pours blood sweat and tears into a work for God only to see it battered, broken and diminished.   The community he serves now tells him that schools are off limits to churches.  City government wants to know how you stand on gay marriage and hints that you will be penalized for your stand.  Suddenly use permits are hard to get and neighborhoods want you to stay away.

Then he turns around and sees large crowds and big money pour effortlessly into churches that are either hiding the Gospel or perverting it.

There is nothing more heartbreaking to a true pastor than to watch his sheep drawn away into false teaching.  What makes it even worse is the dismaying feeling of rejection when good people, whom you have poured your life into for years, are suddenly gone.

It is easy for him to say “Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, And washed my hands in innocence. For all day long I have been plagued, and chastened every morning.” Psalm 73:13,14.

Let get something straight from the jump.  This message is not for the many who would give up anything including their integrity to have a big church.  This message is to those who believe that God can use them in a mighty way without compromising their convictions.

So here step by step is what you do if you are a pastor under siege:

1.Realize what is actually happening. We are experiencing a great falling away. Many believe that it is the great falling away that Paul the apostle warned Timothy about: “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons” -1Timothy 4:1.

Some have left Christianity all together because of persecution.  But the real crisis is false Christianity.

Here is a chilling statistic:  the three most popular preachers in America today do not mention the cross, the blood or hell.  That has never been true in the entire history of America until now.

2.Those that deceive the church are getting supernatural help. We scratch our heads and wonder how false teaching can become so popular. We look at some of the subjects that are being taught and it is bewildering that such obvious error gets such a wide hearing.

Taught by devils: I never saw it before, the Bible says that demons would actually be doing the teaching!   Paul said, “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons” – 1Timothy 4:1.

A mist of deception falls on an audience as they listen to false teachers.  That mist desensitizes their natural discernment and removes their sense of caution.  The giddy feeling that they are getting in the meeting lets them ignore the inner check they normally get from the Holy Spirit.

Even Mega churches can be supernaturally helped by the enemy.  A mega church can be the perfect mirage for a hurting community.  If people are given a groovy feeling instead of Christ they will have zero power against Satan and they will not know it.   Furthermore, they are siding with the culture against true Christians which adds to the persecution.

rob-bell

Recently, we saw former mega church pastor Rob Bell bashing the true church and boasting to Oprah that the church is “moments away from accepting gay marriage.”

3.Since the forces that are attacking your congregation are supernatural your solution lies in the supernatural. Our friend in Psalm 73 came to a great conclusion. After being bull dozed by the success of the wicked that he was tempted to admire he took action “16 When I thought how to understand this, It was too painful for me—17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end.”

When he entered the sanctuary exhausted and discouraged, the greatness of God began to overtake him.  He saw that there is no version of this battle where Satan wins.

I do not know where your sanctuary is.  It may be a forest or a basement.  It is where you and your God connect.  Early in his ministry, David Wilkerson drove his car to a hill over the city and sought God.  Go there and watch God increase and the enemy decrease.

4.Nobody but God and you know the final answer for your church. Wait a minute; don’t we need tutors and seminars to grow a church? Someone asked me once “what makes a church grow?”  I said “nothing and everything.”  It’s true!  I have seen every tactic of church growth fail and I have seen the most unlikely methods succeed.   It was all about what God tells you.

Oh sure others can add to your wisdom and confirm your convictions but God is a jealous God and he choose you to lead these people and He alone wants to tell you what to do next.

raw bravery

5.It is all about a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit on your people to face the threat. We cannot change what we are teaching. The Blood, the Cross, prosperity, healing and faith are timeless truths for the body of Christ. Regardless of the short-term success of any “new, improved gospel” we cannot abandon truth and we cannot leave out any ingredient of truth that we know to be the Word of God.

So what do we change?  The best answer to that question is another question: is there something that we have stepped away from that once made us powerful?  When the Church last felt a threat this massive Peter prayed this prayer; “Lord behold their threats and grant to your servants that with all boldness they may preach your word while you stretch out your hand to heal and let science and wonders be done in the name of your holy servant Jesus.”  Acts 4:29

God answered this desperate prayer by pouring out his Spirit on the church.  “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.” Acts 4:30.

In a time when pastors are being battered by advice on what to preach and how to change in order to be relevant, it is urgent that we return to prayer to seek a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  He, the Spirit, is our supernatural outside help.  He knows the enemy and how to defeat the enemy.

There is a life available that can be free of all distraction and ineffectiveness, a life that goes forth by the direct command of God.  That life can accomplish truly mighty things, things mighty enough to change the course of America.  This is the life you want to live!  This is the only thing that we need to change.

A fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit is all that we need today.   The American Church will not be turned around by supermen but by supernatural men. We do not need better equipment, new organizations, novel methods, but vessels that the Holy Ghost can use—vessels who pray with prevailing might.  God does not flow through religious machinery but through human beings. He does not anoint plans, but people—people who can pray down fresh fire.

You will get outside help!  The Holy Spirit has an original strategy for you that is perfect for the battle you are facing.  He wants to show you how to put it to work.  The bonus is the presence of God that all will feel in your meetings.  Millions of believers have rejected lukewarm faith and they are yearning for a worship experience like the one God will build through you.

These are indeed dark times but America has seen this before.  I would argue that the early 1960’s  were as dangerous as today but God unexpectedly poured out His Spirit on California’s youth and pulled America back from the cliff.  You and God can be a team to see miracles like that again!

Bringing Living Proof to a city that was left to die

By Mario Murillo

Before seven days pass, Mario Murillo Ministries will be able to say something astounding:  “We invaded the nation’s worst crystal meth region and then we invaded America’s most dangerous city.   While Yuba City still vibrates with the Spirit of God, we are already putting boots on the ground in Flint, Michigan.”

The picture you see is a major miracle.  That was when the mayor of Flint gave us the key to the city and proclaimed June 29th Mario Murillo Ministries’ day!  This weekend we return after several years.

Mario in Flint copy

Nearly 1.1 million people have now read this blog.  Our regular readers are the most dangerous Christians in the world.  I know you by your comments.  You are alarmed at the disaster in America, but you are confident about God’s power to save our nation.

There is another thing about our regular readers that is amazing…they are, well, readers.   Facebook is making some people stupid.  (Facebook is even now listed as a top factor in divorce!)  This social media is a parade of catchy videos.  Reading is a lost art.

A person who reads something that makes them think is even rarer. That makes the success of this blog even more amazing.

Our regular readers need no explanation about why we are going to Flint, but others might.   So why are we going to America’s most dangerous city?   Let me answer that question with another question. Can you think of a better place for the miracles of Jesus to appear?  This phrase that ignited Yuba City also applies to Flint: “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.”

Mario Murillo Ministries believes in applying supernatural change where it is needed most.  Our battle cry is: “In the Name of Jesus, where there are devils, they are coming out, where there is disease and addiction, healing is coming in!”

Flint has a crime rate that is seven times higher than the national average. I am not trying to sell you on the misery and despair that oozes from Flint.  There is no way to really show you the epidemic of addiction and violence.  No city in America has been decimated the way Flint has.  If you could be here with me you would find it hard to believe that this is an American city.

No place in America embodies the devastating impact of empty-headed liberalism and corporate greed like Flint, Michigan.  Here is an American city left to die because General Motors and the Unions could not compromise.   Both of these groups used the good people of Flint as a bat to beat each other to death.  GM and the Union survived, but the city did not.

Then something worse arrived: the government.

If you were to pick the one thing that does the opposite of its intended purpose, it would be government programs.  They are an epic waste of money.Geneva

One huge reason we are back in Flint is Geneva Spears.  She has prayed and shared the Gospel in Flint for 30 years.  Here she is, doing what she does so well, rallying people to pray and leading them into revival.   It is an honor to work with her again.

My greatest conviction is revival.  There is no substitute for a moral awakening.  It is not simply the best thing, it is the only thing.   I am going to Flint to answer a question deep in my soul; if Satan can make Flint a trophy of hell, why can’t God make it a trophy of heaven?

I am asking for your prayers for this great endeavor.  And, if you live near this region join us for these amazing meetings.

The most dangerous phrase in America

MADNESS copy

The most dangerous phrase in America

By Mario Murillo

Nine innocent people are killed in church for their race!?  It is evil, sickening and demands maximum outrage.

But outrage is the issue with America…we cannot find the right kind of outrage.  “Reverend” Sharpton and white supremacists have the absolute wrong kind of outrage.  If all you can do is foment and incite, you’re just another hater.   Something this heinous demands a deeper look.

America, you are drowning in hate and Satan is laughing.  He knows how effective hatred is.  “Inflame in them hate over a perceived injustice and drive them to insane acts of violence.”

When a black man murders a cop, Satan laughs.  When a cop murders an unarmed black man, Satan laughs.  Both crimes are on his side.  Both evils advance his purpose.

When Dlyann Roof let a woman live so his message of hate could get out, his words to her were, “I have to do it. You’re raping our women and taking over the country. You have to go.”

Recently a man robbed a store in Philadelphia and said, “I am sorry to do this but I have to feed my family.”  His was a far lesser crime with the same root cause.

Have you discovered the most dangerous phrase in America?  It is the words, “I can’t help myself.”

charleston-shooting

Bruce Jenner cannot help but become a woman.  Rachel Dolezal can’t help but become a black woman.  Islamists cannot help but kill for Allah.  And Dylann Roof says I have to do this.  “Right and wrong don’t matter anymore, I have to do this.”

“Do this for the greater good,” is the other lie that Satan uses on us.  Look at Harvard University.  Her name is Sandra Korn. She is a senior at Harvard and columnist for the Harvard Crimson.  She believes that free speech is a threat to the Liberal agenda.

In a recent column, Korn unambiguously insisted that the university should stop guaranteeing professors and students the right to hold controversial views and pursue research that challenges liberalism. “If our university community opposes racism, sexism, and heterosexism, why should we put up with research that counters our goals?” asked Korn in her column.   Sandra Korn can’t help it; she has to silence the opposition.

How can I compare Sandra Korn to Dylann Root?  She wants research destroyed that undermines her goals.  She is a book burner.  Heinrich Heine, the German poet, said, “Where they burn books, they will also ultimately burn people.”

We must see hatred for the colorless, asexual, unpolitical monster that it is.  And the first examination for hate must be self-examination.

If we can see nothing wrong with our group and everything wrong with the other group, we keep hate alive.  Satan laughs because his agenda lives to destroy another day.

Justice cannot be known let alone achieved without God.  Christian, you have a choice. You can see this as a dark hour or as a shining moment for the Gospel.

We are constantly barraged for our stands on morality. But a moral stand is a belief in power.   It says, “I cannot help myself, but God will help me.  I do not have to yield to any urge that is beneath my dignity as a child of the King.”

charleston church

We must push back against the lies against our faith.  The Gospel is not a crutch; it is an engine that drives us to right choices.  And, as I seem to recall, Jesus got rid of crutches, he didn’t hand them out.

No place in America embodies the devastating impact of the phrase “I can’t help myself” like Flint Michigan.  Here is an American city left to die because General Motors and the Unions could not compromise.   Both of these groups used the good people of Flint as a bat to beat each other to death.  GM and the Union survived, but the city did not.  They abandoned Flint because they couldn’t help it.

A minister friend asked me, “Why are you going to Flint?  Didn’t you just come out of a grueling 5 day crusade in Yuba City?”  Not only this, he wanted to know if it was dangerous to go because of this devastating tragedy in Charleston.

My answer was immediate… I asked him if he could think of a better place or a better time for the miracles of Jesus to appear.

WHEN PASTORS TRADE FLEETING GLORY FOR TRUE RICHES

WHEN PASTORS TRADE FLEETING GLORY FOR TRUE RICHES

By Mario Murillo

“For over a thousand years Roman conquerors returning from the wars enjoyed the honor of triumph, a tumultuous parade. The conqueror rode in a triumphal chariot, the dazed prisoners walking in chains before him. And a slave stood behind the conqueror holding a golden crown and whispering in his ear a warning: that all glory is fleeting.”      -Epilogue from the movie Patton.

If only we could hire that slave to stand in the pulpits beside celebrity pastors and whisper, “The glory of a big, powerless church is fleeting. It is vanity to win first prize for fastest growing church and lose a nation in the process.”

While churches tickle the ears of the crowd, our government grinds away at freedom of speech and freedom of religion.  Talk about fleeting glory…what will you do with your mega ministry when it is banned?

The miracle in Yuba City happened because two churches, realizing the utter urgency of a moral awakening in this hour, joined forces.  That is the simple truth!

Yuba 14

The Bridge of Yuba City led by Jim and Kristine Carpenter and Church of Glad Tidings led by Dave and Cheryl Bryan rejected conventional wisdom and acted according to the Kingdom of God.

Have you ever heard of two churches cancelling their Sunday Morning services in order to make a public stand for Christ?  That kind of unselfish love breaks the power of Satan over a region.  However, today, it is roundly rejected as foolishness.

When Pastors Dave and Cheryl Bryan chose to do this, it was a major sacrifice. It takes every last drop of faith to keep a church strong in the Yuba City/Marysville area. They did not make this decision because it was convenient or even practical.  It was a sacrifice based on a passion for God to heal our land.

When Jim and Kristine Carpenter turned their church into an army of workers for Living Proof, there was not a thought toward gaining new members.  They wanted to take new ground for the Kingdom of God.

Let me open my heart wide on the subject of true pastors.  A true pastor pours blood, sweat and tears into a work for God.   Today an honest work for the Lord is often battered, broken and diminished.

Local government diminishes them. The community leaders tell them that schools are off limits.  They want to know your stand on gay marriage.  They hint that you will be penalized for your stand.  Suddenly use permits are hard to get and neighborhoods want you to stay away.

Then, like adding salt to a wound, it stings a true man and woman of God to see large crowds and big money pour effortlessly into religious businesses that hide the Gospel.

It breaks the heart of a true pastor to watch sheep drawn away into a spiritual country club that dumbs down believers and condones immorality.

A vessel of God can feel punished for keeping their integrity.  King David said, “Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, And washed my hands in innocence. For all day long I have been plagued, and chastened every morning.” Psalm 73:13, 14.

YUba 8

The crowds and the signs and wonders appearing in Yuba City are Living Proof that you get true riches when you hold on to your integrity.

There is one amazing thing that is about to happen.  Pastors will soon see that by seeking to please God rather than man they will gain a massive army that is low maintenance and high impact.

One day God asked Solomon what he wanted.  Solomon asked for wisdom instead of wealth and power.  1 Kings 1:10, “The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 Then God said to him: ‘Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, 12 behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you. 13 And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days. 14 So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.’”

Pastors Dave and Cheryl Bryan and Jim and Kristine Carpenter have asked for true riches, not fleeting glory.  And God is going to give them everything else besides.

WHEN A MAYOR AND AN EVANGELIST TEAM UP TO IMPACT A CITY

WHEN A MAYOR AND AN EVANGELIST TEAM UP TO IMPACT A CITY

By Mario Murillo

When a Mayor and an evangelist work together copy

John Dukes, Mayor of Yuba City, and I are bound by different covenants.  It is his job to faithfully execute his oath of office.  It is my job to obey a heavenly vision.  We are both servants of God and where our callings meet is in the genuine desire to help Yuba City.

In this current time of national division, it takes courage for any civic leader to declare that the Gospel holds the greatest hope for a community.  John has stood before the crowd night after night to declare his belief in miracles and the power of the Gospel to make a city better.

At no time does he try to divide or abuse his authority as mayor.  He is building a consensus among various groups for the good of the city.  To him, this is a logical part of that goal.

He recognizes, as I do, the fever in government today to silence the benefit of faith in the fight against addiction and crime.  We believe it is time for government to let God work in our nation.  It is insane to ignore the power of God to handle our deepest crisis as a nation.

He and I are taking a bold step of faith.  We are teaming up to prove what Jesus can do for a city.  It is our prayer that the results will be so undeniable that it will help remove the stigma of religion and silence those who hate God in our government.

But the lesson here is not just for anti-God politicians, it is also for Christians.  For reasons that are too numerous to list, many Christians have been afraid to show the power of God to society.

There is a deliberate attempt in these meetings to eschew emotionalism without losing fervor.  We want Jesus to overshadow the method so that people will see miracles in plain view.  We get out of God’s way so that He could demonstrate His love and power in a way that main street will admit…something real is happening…it is the key to our children’s future and our way of life.

Mayor blog 3

We are not here to colonize Yuba City.  We are here to be a helping hand to the downtrodden and forgotten among us.  We have no agenda, just a Savior.  We are to go about doing good deeds.

Healing is one of those good deeds.  A piercing example of this is Peter before the Sanhedrin, after the paralyzed man was healed at the gate, Beautiful.  Acts 4:8, “Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, ‘Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: 9 If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, 10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.’”

Teaming up for the good of a city is a wonderful thing.  It has already produced important results.  We believe that the best is yet to come.  Please pray for Living Proof Yuba City!

P.S.  We are gearing up for a fresh outreach to Yuba City.  The tent is gone but the fire still burns brightly.  Get ready for the next phase of this miracle of God.  We will be announcing the next series of Living Proof Yuba City very soon.

The Real Story of Yuba City

THE REAL STORY OF YUBA CITY

By Mario Murillo

I could tell you that last night 3 people left their wheelchairs.  I could tell you about a woman who no longer needs an oxygen tank.  I could tell you about the man who left his wheelchair and then began dancing with his daughter…there was not a dry eye in the tent…I could go even further and describe a moment when a blanket of power covered the crowd.   You could hear shouts of victory that pain and sickness were evicted from bodies everywhere.

Those are the kinds of things we want to hear, but that would not be the real story of Living Proof Yuba City.  Living Proof Yuba City is a story that all of America needs to hear.  And all of America needs to understand the real story.

out of wheelchair blog

I saw the real story when I looked out at the audience and saw a women holding her sobbing teenage granddaughter.  This young girl embodied the emotional war of our American youth who navigate despair.

The young girl saw miracles, she felt power, she was overtaken by hope and she gave herself to Christ.  For her, life was no longer a cruel accident; the universe no longer a cold, abandoned expanse.  She had found her FATHER, a father who would care for her and lead her.

This is not the story of a good meeting… but of the Church rising up and escaping the safe zones of church buildings. Love took on muscle and good intentions became action.   People of every culture and age group are being saved.

every

After 48 years of preaching I am still dumbfounded by the power of Jesus to undo tragedy and ignite miracles.   However, there is a special vengeance to the way the Holy Spirit is moving here in Yuba City.

The divine vengeance I see in Yuba City reminds me of a healing in the book of Luke.  Luke 13:16, “ ‘And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?’ 17 As He said this, all His opponents were being humiliated; and the entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things being done by Him.”

yuba blog 3

Something has welled up in the heart of God for a community caught in the cross fire of economic misfortune, drug addiction, and breathtaking neglect.   Indeed, we have seen the very same thing that Luke mentioned.  Every night we hear the entire crowd rejoicing over the things being done by Him!

But the real story is even bigger than this.  God is not content to have a good meeting; He is shifting the atmosphere of the Christians and thereby shifting the atmosphere of the community.

The Spirit of God does not stay in the tent but hovers tenderly over the whole community.  Here is an example:  A family is in the park and they can hear us singing.  They stop their activity and move cautiously toward the tent.  They begin to cry.

Yuba blog 1

They are afraid to walk into the tent but they also cannot walk away.  Moments later they find themselves at the front repeating a prayer that will make them a new family and put their names in the Book of Life.

There is a dangerous element to Living Proof Yuba City.  The people have an insatiable hunger for more.  They don’t miss a meeting.  They stand inside the tent in temperatures of 106 degrees.  Nothing can keep them away and nothing will stop their pressing into God.

Sometimes I know a meeting needs to be extended by direct revelation.  In this case, it is a matter of utter necessity.  By acclamation, this must go on—the people will have it no other way.

This is the best situation of all– when neither man nor devil knows how big a move of God is going to get.  Stay tuned.
