George H.W. Bush to vote for Hillary Clinton

George H.W. Bush to vote for Hillary Clinton

A Kennedy outs a Bush who favors a Clinton.
By DARREN SAMUELSOHN 09/19/16 11:20 PM EDT Updated 09/19/16 11:36 PM EDT

Former President George H.W. Bush is bucking his party’s presidential nominee and plans to vote for Hillary Clinton in November, according to a member of another famous political family, the Kennedys.
Bush, 92, had intended to stay silent on the White House race between Clinton and Donald Trump, a sign in and of itself of his distaste for the GOP nominee. But his preference for the wife of his own successor, President Bill Clinton, nonetheless became known to a wider audience thanks to Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend, the former Maryland lieutenant governor and daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy.

On Monday, Townsend posted a picture on her Facebook page shaking hands next to the former president and this caption: “The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!!”
In a telephone interview, Townsend said she met with the former president in Maine earlier today, where she said he made his preference known that he was voting for a Democrat. “That’s what he said,” she told POLITICO.

Asked about Townsend’s post, George H.W. Bush spokesman Jim McGrath in an email replied, “The vote President Bush will cast as a private citizen in some 50 days will be just that: a private vote cast in some 50 days. He is not commenting on the presidential race in the interim.”

George H.W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush have stayed out of the political debate since campaigning earlier this year for their son Jeb’s unsuccessful bid for president. Neither George H.W. Bush nor his son, former President George W. Bush, attended this summer’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland where Trump accepted the nomination.

An expert explains why Trump will win

ELECTORAL COLLEGE MATH, AND WHY I THINK TRUMP WILL WIN

As Donald Trump has caught up with Hillary Clinton in the polls, he has likewise closed the gap in the electoral college. Ipsos/Reuters says the race to 270 votes is now nearly tied. Many are focusing on Maine, which allocates its electoral college votes by Congressional district, and where one district going for Trump might change the result.

A reader who has been studying the numbers sends a link to 538 (“Democrats Should Panic … If The Polls Still Look Like This In A Week”) and adds:

I presume Trump wins Nevada. Adjusting for that, if this is accurate Trump loses 265 – 273. So he needs New Hampshire desperately to tie, and then win in the House…or NH plus Maine’s 2nd Congressional District for a bare win 270 – 268, second closest in history.

That could be right. But I think more likely, Trump will win rather easily, and win going away as he did the Republican primaries. I expect him to carry states like Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, Michigan, maybe even Pennsylvania. Why? Two reasons.

The first can be explained with an old story from the world of marketing:

A company came out with a new dog food, and hired an advertising firm to promote the product. The ad agency placed commercials on television and ads in magazines; millions of dollars went into the campaign. The commercials and ads were first-rate, but still the dog food did not sell. The client called a meeting at the ad agency and demanded to know what had gone wrong.

After a moment of silence, the leader of the ad agency team explained: “The dogs don’t like it.”

Hillary Clinton can be re-launched, re-packaged, and protected by a phalanx of reporters. The liberal establishment can do its best to jam her down our throats. But we–the voters–don’t like her. And the more we see of her, the more our dislike is confirmed. She is too weak a candidate to be elected president.

Second, everyone knows that the press is trying to elect Hillary, and most Americans resent it. Every day, editors and reporters try to inflict an anti-Trump theme on the rest of us. Today’s hysteria revolves around Trump’s comments on Hillary’s hypocrisy regarding gun control:

She goes around with armed bodyguards like you have never seen before. I think that her bodyguards should drop all weapons. They should disarm. Right? Right? I think they should disarm immediately. What do you think? Yes? Yes. Yeah. Take their guns away. She doesn’t want guns. … Let’s see what happens to her. Take their guns away, okay? It would be very dangerous.

Trump obviously was making the point that he and countless others have made many times before: liberals like Hillary Clinton, who are protected 24/7 by armed guards, are deeply hypocritical when they try to disarm millions of Americans who don’t have taxpayer-funded protection and rely on their own firearms for self-defense. The point is a powerful one, which is why liberal reporters don’t want to acknowledge it. Instead, they absurdly pretend that Trump was hinting that Hillary should be assassinated.

This kind of thing fools no one. Millions of Americans are quietly fuming over the press’s overreach, going over the top, day after day, to defeat Donald Trump. The blowback is building, and will continue building until election day.

At one point, when I was opposing Trump during the GOP primaries, I said to the press: Stop attacking Trump! Liberal reporters often began with a valid point, but their hysterical hatred for Trump caused them to go too far, making arguments that were patently unfair and unsustainable. Therefore, the more they attacked Trump the more his support grew. The same thing is happening now: most Americans have a pretty good sense of fair play, and they know that Trump is being treated badly by the establishment–a group for whom most Americans have no great affection.

Much more could be said, and will be between now and November 8. But let’s leave it there for now. Like most observers, I have usually been wrong this year, so there is no reason why anyone should pay much attention. But, for what it is worth, I don’t think this year’s election will turn out to be a nail-biter. Nor will it be a landslide, but I do expect a relatively easy win for Donald Trump in both the popular vote and the electoral college.

Could Trump screw it up by making a horrible blunder? Of course. But I think there is a greater chance of disaster coming from the Clinton campaign.

Guess what they did instead of deporting them

The immigrants with questionable backgrounds were not identified by name but reportedly all came from “special interest countries.” Those countries include those that pose a national security concern to America.

Feds Mistakenly Grant Citizenship to Hundreds of Immigrants Scheduled for Deportation

This is sure to get the anti-immigrant crowd riled up.  A new Inspector General’s report found that the U.S. government mistakenly gave citizenship to at least 858 immigrants who were supposed to be deported or came from countries with high rates of immigration fraud, according to the report first obtained by The Associated Press.

The immigrants with questionable backgrounds were not identified by name but reportedly all came from “special interest countries.” Those countries include those that pose a national security concern to America.

In a statement, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said the report reflects issues that the agency has been struggling with. The agency placed the blame on old paper-based records containing fingerprint information that is not easily searchable.

In addition, the auditors found that 953 people had been naturalized despite having outstanding deportation orders. What’s even more troubling is that the audit by DHS Inspector General John Roth found fingerprints missing from the federal database for 315,000 immigrants. According to the AP, at least three of the immigrants who were mistakenly granted citizenship were able to get jobs with aviation or transportation credentials, allowing them access to secure areas. Those credentials were revoked after it was discovered they got citizenship improperly.

Gentle reader: Expect more of these “mistakes” with Hillary

Obama makes voting for Hillary all about him

Obama: I Will Consider It An Insult To My Legacy If You Do Not Vote; Want to Give Me A Good Send Off? Go Vote

Obama: I Will Consider It An Insult To My Legacy If You Do Not Vote; Want to Give Me A Good Send Off? Go Vote

President Obama made a strong sell for a candidate to succeed his legacy at the Congressional Black Caucus dinner Saturday night. The president invoked slavery and the Jim Crow era and preached that if they wanted to give him a good send off then register people to vote because his legacy is at stake.

Although he did not name Hillary Clinton, the president said he would consider it a personal insult from the African-American community if they did not for her.

“My name may not be on the ballot, but our progress is on the ballot,” President Obama said Saturday night. “And there is one candidate who will advance those things. And there is another candidate who’s defining principal, the central theme of his candidacy is opposition to all that we have done.”

“There’s no such thing as a vote that doesn’t matter,” Obama said. “It all matters. And after we have achieved historic turnout in 2008 and 2012, especially in the African-American community, I will consider it a personal insult, an insult to my legacy, if this community lets down it’s guard and fails to activate itself in this election. You want to give me a good send off? Go vote!”

Remarks:

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Our work’s not done. But if we are going to advance the cause of justice, and equality, and prosperity, and freedom, then we also have to acknowledge that even if we eliminated every restriction on voters, we would still have one of the lowest voting rates among free peoples. That’s not good, that is on us.

And I am reminded of all those folks who had to count bubbles in a bar of soap, beaten trying to register voters in Mississippi. Risked everything so that they could pull that lever. So, if I hear anybody saying their vote does not matter, that it doesn’t matter who we elect, read up on your history. It matters. We’ve got to get people to vote.

In fact, if you want to give Michelle and me a good sendoff, and that was a beautiful video, but don’t just watch us walk off into the sunset now, get people registered to vote. If you care about our legacy, realize everything we stand for is at stake, on the progress we have made is at stake in this election.

My name may not be on the ballot, but our progress is on the ballot. Tolerance is on the ballot. Democracy is on the ballot. Justice is on the ballot. Good schools are on the ballot. Ending mass incarceration, that’s on the ballot right now.

And there is one candidate who will advance those things. And there is another candidate who’s defining principal, the central theme of his candidacy is opposition to all that we have done.

There’s no such thing as a vote that doesn’t matter. It all matters. And after we have achieved historic turnout in 2008 and 2012, especially in the African-American community, I will consider it a personal insult, an insult to my legacy, if this community lets down it’s guard and fails to activate itself in this election. You want to give me a good send off? Go vote! And iI’m going to be working as hard as I can these next seven weeks to make sure folks do.

Hope is on the ballot. And fear is on the ballot too. Hope is on the ballot and fear is on the ballot too.

Mario Murillo:  Two things to take away from this:

  1. Hillary will continue Obama’s destruction of America—his true legacy. Everything you hate about Obama’s America…everything that has broken your heart continues in her. It will not only continue…it will accelerate.   Obama has removed all doubt: A vote for Hillary is a vote for his damage to intensify.
  2. He is not asking—he is summoning black people to vote for her. He believes he is entitled to command them. He believes they are his subjects.  He has never deemed himself an elected servant.  He views himself as an avenging angel—an angel with a strange admixture of Islam to Marxism—driven by religious and racial animosity.

Breaking news about Mario Murillo

On November the 9th there will be a big change at Mario Murillo Ministries.  This announcement has been in the planning stages for years but Mario feels that now is the right time to go public.

We have reached a historic milestone:  2 million people have now read Mario Murillo’s blog.

This does not include videos—this is people sitting down to read.  The fact that reading is dying—especially on social media which is overrun by video blogs—makes this achievement even more amazing.

We also know that the blog has been quietly censored…even throttled.  This means that our actual readership is probably much higher.

This blog was one of the very first Christian blogs to openly oppose Barack Obama.  At the time, Obama had a 68% approval rating and it was uncool to criticize him.

Some pastors told Mario he was no longer welcomed in their pulpits.

A large Christian network took him off the air because of his oppositional papers on Obama, Islam and same sex marriage…yes, same sex marriage.

Mario’s blog was one of the very first to publicly support Trump for president—another unpopular stance.   He did not call it prophetic…just common sense.  Once again, the blog endured critical headwinds…but readers kept coming back and the audience kept growing.

Astoundingly, the blog has been read in 174 of the 176 nations of the world.  (Why embarrass the two tiny nations that have not read the blog).

Now Mario is making another ground breaking announcement.  He says that the mantle for his political commentary is being lifted by the Holy Spirit.  He even has a date for the blog’s transformation: November 9th.

It’s not that his writings will never again rebuke government it’s just that he feels something will change drastically on November 9th.

When pressed he could only speculate on why the Holy Spirit will lift this mantle of warning, correcting and exposing the corruption of Washington:

“I believe God had me speak out because America was on the brink of an unalterable disaster.  On November 8th, we will either be rescued by Trump or driven into the ground by Hillary.

If we are rescued, then my work in this arena is done.  I must leave this kind of commentary to others.

november-9th

If Hillary wins, we must assume we will become the underground church.  Her appointments to the Supreme court will be the finishing touch to the already contaminated IRS, FBI and Justice Department.   How can anyone suppose that freedom of speech or freedom of religion will survive her?  How can anyone think this is not our last free election if she comes to power?

Her unholy alliance with Google, Facebook, Apple, Youtube, Twitter and Hollywood will guarantee that any opposing thought will be smothered.  They will be the propaganda machine to justify criminalizing Christianity.

In such a case, I must proceed as if I am in Russia, China or even North Korea.  I must weigh my writings for the impact they will have on the church under a government that will openly punish citizens for reading ‘subversive material.’

When she refers to us as ‘deplorables that cannot be redeemed’ how do you think she will treat us when she has the power?”

So what does he think he will write after November 9th?   “I will occasionally rebuke government.  However, I must declare signs, wonders and miracles more than ever.  I must speak fire and faith to the soldiers of God who may, by then, suffer beneath the lash of a hostile government.”

In either case…November 9th is the start of a whole new kind of blog from Mario Murillo.  Stay tuned!

A Clinton win would ensure the most liberal Supreme Court in 80 years

A Clinton win would ensure the most liberal Supreme Court in 80 years

The next president’s picks mean the difference between democracy and tyranny

By Senator Orrin Hatch

The outcome of this November’s election will determine the direction of the Supreme Court for a generation. The next president will have at least one, and as many as four or five, vacancies to fill. There is no more important issue in this election than the Supreme Court.

This is because Supreme Court justices do more than just decide legal cases. To a great extent, they shape the kind of country we have.

Judges come in two basic varieties — those who follow the law as enacted by the people’s representatives, and those who effectively rewrite the law to match their own personal preferences. The first type of judge seeks to implement the law as passed by Congress or state legislatures. The second kind of judge seeks to control the law by making the words in statutes and the Constitution mean what the judge wants them to mean.

The first kind of judge allows the people and their elected representatives to run the country and define our culture, while the second kind of judge prefers to take that role for himself. In this sense, the second type of judge acts as a sort of philosopher-king, deciding what sorts of laws and activities will be allowed, regardless of whether anything in the Constitution or existing law actually addresses the question. Supreme Court decisions restricting religious freedom, greatly expanding federal power, and legalizing abortion and same-sex marriage nationwide offer examples of the second type of judge in action.

The most critical issue in this year’s presidential election is which kind of judge each candidate is likely to appoint.

Donald Trump has said he would appoint the first kind of judge, one who follows the law and doesn’t seek to inject his or her personal views into policy debates. He’s pointed to the late Justice Antonin Scalia as the kind of judge he will select, one committed to faithfully implementing the laws Congress has actually passed. Mr. Trump has backed up that promise with a list of federal and state court judges who, he said, are “representative of the kind of constitutional principles I value.” That list was well received by those of us in the conservative legal movement who believe judges must enforce the law as written.

Hillary Clinton’s record, by contrast, shows that she would appoint a very different kind of judge. When she was a senator, she voted 24 times to filibuster President George W. Bush’s judicial nominees, including current Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, an outstanding jurist. In fact, a comprehensive statistical analysis, based on a widely used measure of judicial ideology, concluded that if Hillary Clinton is elected, “the court may quickly become the most liberal it’s been in at least 80 years.”

No one today can predict with certainty who the next president will appoint to the Supreme Court. But here’s what we do know: The federal judiciary is more powerful than ever, and the Supreme Court will continue to have an enormous impact on our country and on our liberties. The next president will tip the court’s balance, installing a court majority that is either anchored in the text of our statutes and Constitution, or adrift on a sea of “undiscovered” rights and liberal policy ambitions.

We know one other important thing: While the Supreme Court gets much of the attention, the lower federal courts have the last word in the vast majority of cases. During his time in office, President Obama has appointed nearly 40 percent of the entire judiciary. These judges will serve an average of more than 20 years, with the power either to follow or rewrite the law.

A president’s lower court judges frequently serve as a “farm team” for future Supreme Court nominations. Last month, one popular legal blog offered a list of potential Hillary Clinton Supreme Court nominees. Each of the federal judges on the list was either nominated or appointed by President Obama.

Columnist Thomas Sowell hit the nail on the head when he said, “The issue is judges that stick to the law versus judges who ignore the law. That is a huge distinction. It is the difference between living in a self-governing democracy and living under tyrants on the bench.”

Through his or her appointments, the next president will determine whether the federal judiciary respects its proper, limited role in our self-governing democracy, or whether we continue to slide ever further toward judicial tyranny. There is no more important issue in this election.

Orrin Hatch, a Utah Republican, is president pro tempore of the U.S. Senate.

Inside the mind of a shameless liar

Dr. Keith Ablow: Hillary Clinton — Inside the mind of a shameless liar

Recently, it has been reported that Hillary Clinton is using psychologists to prepare for her debates with Donald Trump.  Apparently, some within the Clinton campaign believed that Mr. Trump seemed ill-at-ease when, during a Republican presidential primary debate, he addressed Senator Marco Rubio’s contention that Trump’s small hands likely meant his private parts were also small.

In fact, Trump seemed completely comfortable addressing that intensely personal attack, simply saying that it wasn’t true.  His willingness and ability to dispense with the matter in such a straightforward way shouldn’t give the Clinton campaign confidence that Trump can be rocked with psychological missives; it should terrify them.  Because when a man can speak directly, in front of cameras and the entire nation, even about those matters which are usually unspeakable, he isn’t going to run away from much of anything.

Donald Trump wears his psyche on his sleeve.

Hillary Clinton is the one whose psychological make up would seem to leave her vulnerable.  Her penchant for lying is a problem, but the really big problem is that she seems unable to determine when her lies are registering with audiences as clearly untrue. At the core, people who lie transparently do so because they lack empathy—the ability to intuit and vicariously experience what others are thinking and feeling.  Locked behind walls of narcissism or arrogance or imperiousness, consumed with the pursuit of power, they can’t tell convincing lies because they can’t truly resonate with how their words and mannerisms are being received.

Hillary Clinton’s penchant for lying is a problem, but the really big problem is that she seems unable to determine when her lies are registering with audiences as clearly untrue.

Hillary Clinton is, to borrow from a fairy tale, like the emperor with no clothes, who thinks that others can’t see his nakedness. We have in Ms. Clinton, if you will, an empress with no clothes.  Everyone knows her cover ups are transparent—except, seemingly, Secretary Clinton, herself.

All that Donald Trump needs to do, in order to expose Ms. Clinton as a liar is to ask her to repeat her defenses related to her use of a personal email server when she was Secretary of State, her mingling of State Department business with Clinton Foundation business and her having abandoned Ambassador Chris Stephens, Foreign Service Office Sean Smith and two former Navy Seals to die at Benghazi.  Tens of millions of Americans watching will feel, in their hearts, that she is a liar.

WHY THE WOUND OF 911 NEVER HEALS

WHY THE WOUND OF 911 NEVER HEALS

By Mario Murillo

Why is my pain perpetual and my wound incurable, Which refuses to be healed? -Jeremiah 15:18

America has healed from the Civil War and two world wars…why can’t we heal from 911?

September 11, 2001, 8:46 am – Mohammed Atta and the other hijackers aboard American Airlines Flight 11 crash the plane into floors 93-99 of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, killing everyone on board and hundreds inside the building.

9:03 am – Hijackers crash United Airlines Flight 175 into floors 75-85 of the WTC’s South Tower, killing everyone on board and hundreds inside the building.

Twin Towering infernos incinerate 3,000 innocent people.   The flames flash light into the abyss revealing the blackest evil of our time—Islamic Terrorism.

The next 60 minutes are living hell.   That hour brings several firsts: The first time the whole nation felt terror—the first time that the Stock Market was closed for 4 days—the first time since the Second World War tanks and personnel patrol American streets—the first time we saw $30 billion dollars’ damage in one hour and an eventual financial loss we could not calculate—for the first time in recent history, America was not invincible.

Not since Pearl Harbor has any event had this much impact on every aspect of our way of life.

Today is 15 years later.  The wound has not healed.  Our pain continues.  Jeremiah asked, “Why is my pain perpetual and my wound incurable, Which refuses to be healed? -Jeremiah 15:18

american-flag-tattered

Why have we not healed?  The disaster of 911 should have driven us to God.  Instead, we ran from Him.  We banned the prayer we so desperately needed.  We censored the only message that could save us.  Instead of staying alert for the war on our freedoms we delved further into drugs.  Losing our morals made us miserable—so what did we do?  We abandoned the few morals we had left.

Our leaders caved into a self-loathing.  We contracted syndromes!   We got battered wife’s syndrome: blaming America for the terror and trying to see all of the good we can in Islam.

We contracted Stockholm Syndrome: sympathizing with all of the people who would do us harm.  We opened our borders and welcomed rapists and killers as if we had some great evil to atone for.

College students—who should rise up to the hard work of facing the future—instead give into their self-pity and even turn it into a noble crusade…going forth to prove they could be offended by anything and afraid of everything.

Villains are now victims and victims are now villains.  The only thing as ugly as 911 is our ugly, ongoing reaction to 911.

The whole world knows we are slouching toward Gomorrah.  North Korea knows it and flaunts its nuclear crimes.  Russia knows it and intimidates our pilots.  Iran knows it—demanding and receiving billions in ransoms from our president—then laughing in our face.  China knows it and openly displays contempt whenever possible.

Yes, it is the 15th anniversary of the one day that should galvanize our resolve to once again be the home of the brave.  We should weep over our loss of loved ones and especially the loss of God’s blessing.  We should be repenting and returning to the roots of our greatness.

September-11-Image-Gallery-2

What will we see today?  We will likely see overpaid, overrated, coddled NFL players show total disdain to our anthem, our flag and this sacred day.  In a way that is perfectly fitting for a nation that is comatose and utterly unaware that they are only setting themselves up for the next unspeakable horror.  May God have mercy on us!

Is our doom sealed?  Not yet, but we must be overtaken with urgency.  Our time is almost up.  It rests with the people of God to seize this moment.  Just as Abraham pleaded with God over Sodom.   He found that Jehovah would spare the city for just 12 righteous men.  So will our Lord spare America with the fervent repentance of a few…if His people wake up.

Let us wake up to our duty even if others will not.  Only don’t offend truth by saying we are entitled to be spared.  On the other hand let us be like the Prophet Joel who faced certain doom with a hope of mercy.   On this day of all days, cry aloud and spare not…forgiveness is still within our grasp.

“Now, therefore,” says the Lord,
“Turn to Me with all your heart,
With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”
So rend your heart, and not your garments;
Return to the Lord your God,
For He is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, and of great kindness;
And He relents from doing harm.
Who knows if He will turn and relent,
And leave a blessing behind Him— Joel 2:12-14

Will Seahawks and Dolphins disrespect National anthem and American flag on 911?

Will Seahawks and Dolphins disrespect National anthem and American flag on 911?

By Mario Murillo

SEATTLE — The Dolphins season opener will be full of drama before it even kicks off. The team held a players-only meeting Friday in which Arian Foster addressed a potential demonstration during the national anthem, and the Seahawks have already said they are planning something.

Protests began with San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick sitting on the bench during the anthem before a preseason game as his way of objecting to the oppression of black people and controversial handling of police violence. Kaepernick and teammate Eric Reid knelt for the anthem last week, and Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall did the same in the league’s kickoff Thursday.

Now these two teams are involved, which becomes additionally provocative given that they will play on 9/11. Seattle players publicly discussed a team-wide stance, though they declined to specify what it will be, and the Dolphins planned to figure out their position by Saturday night.

Foster held the team after practice at the University of Washington to stress the importance of the Dolphins being unified in whatever they choose to do.

“There’s a lot going on right now in the NFL and everybody has their different feelings and opinions, or different stands,” safety Reshad Jones said. “That’s basically what he told us: Make sure we’re together, and we’re here to win a football game.”

Jones and right guard Jermon Bushrod said the Dolphins are not aware of what the Seahawks will do and the teams are not working in conjunction with each other. “We’ll do our own deal,” Bushrod added. That may be the only certainty heading into Sunday.

Sunday marks 15 years since the 9/11 attacks, and the NFL has always honored that anniversary. Seattle wide receiver Doug Baldwin said his team would demonstrate regardless of the date, but thinks it will add even more substance to their actions.

“Even if it wasn’t September 11th, the point of the protest is to get people to think,”he told reporters. “It’s very ironic to me that 15 years ago, on September 11th, was one of the most devastating times in U.S. history, and after that day we were probably the most unified that we’ve ever been.

“And today you struggle to see the unity. It’s very ironic to me that this date is coming up. It’s going to be a very special day, a very significant day, but at the same time I’m looking forward to the many changes and differences that we can make in this country.”

Several Dolphins — notably FosterNdamukong Suh and Ryan Tannehill — said something along those lines and supported Kaepernick’s freedom to protest when asked about it recently.

“You’ve gotta respect the man’s opinion, as well as his actions,” Suh said two weeks ago. “I definitely understand where he’s coming from in choosing to do what he did.

“I think it’s an individual choice. At the same time, I think it’s a duty of ours as leaders, especially with young kids, to make a good, proper announcement if we feel the need to, and I think that’s what he’s doing. I support him in that.”

It’s a weighty issue for first-time head coach Adam Gase, who has consistently supported the players’ right to express themselves as they see fit and reiterated that he wouldn’t deter them. His comments run parallel to the NFL’s policy that players “are encouraged but not required” to stand for the anthem.

Gase and his staff gave the players space for their discussion Friday, and he probably won’t know what his team intends to do until they take the field.

“I just know everybody has the right to their opinion, and I know we’re here to beat Seattle,” he said. “It’s one of those things where everybody has a right to their opinion.”

Fans threaten boycott after Dolphins discuss anthem protest

A possible protest by the Dolphins and Seahawks during the national anthem at Sunday’s season opener has angered some fans, who lashed out in comments posted on The Post’s initial news report on Friday’s team meeting.

“My family and friends won’t be going to games this year, and some won’t buy products advertised during games,” one commenter posted. Another threatened a similar boycott: “I’m protesting the disrespect for our country and boycotting the NFL until they make everyone stand. I’ll watch college football and baseball and hockey, period.”

Others took offense to the potential protest occuring on 9/11. “Protest the anthem especially on 9/11 and the Dolphins are dead to me,” one reader wrote. Another posted: “Truly disgusting what they are doing. … I’m sure our soldiers abroad will be horrified and disgusted at their unpatriotic behavior.”

Even longtime fans were offended: “If the Dolphins decide not to stand for the national anthem on 9/11 I will never attend another game in my life. And I’ve run bus trips for for 29 years.”

Protests began when San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick sat on the bench during the anthem before a preseason game in a protest against oppression of black people and controversial handling of police violence. It became a mini movement when Kaepernick and teammate Eric Reid knelt for the anthem last week, then Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall did the same in the league’s kickoff Thursday.

The Dolphins and the NFL did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

My view is that no matter how you spin it, the overwhelming majority of Americans will consider these acts of blatant disrespect done out of arrogance and hate.   Moreover, to do it on 911 will make it look especially provocative and cruel.  In their little world, some of these players believe they will deemed heroes.  The shock will be the national national backlash and a colossal heap of shame.   Many will call them overpaid—and in some cases, highly overrated—athletes with an outsized microphone, who want to throw a bone to the oppressed from their mansions and limos.  They will be known as a new specie of classless, spoiled brat, low information posers.

IN A RELATED STORY:

Colin Kaepernick’s gesture to kneel for the national anthem was repeated by high school players in a number of places before games Friday night.

Kaepernick retweeted a number of posts on Twitter with photos or news stories.

Here is a sampling:

  • At Lincoln Southeast in Nebraska, two players — one white, one African-American took a knee as a silent protest. (see the video above).
  • At Waggener High in Louisville, a player took a knee as his teammates stood alongside him. A number of players had taken a knee as the team line up but eventually rose as the music starting playing. Coach Jordan Johnson said the team will take steps before next week’s game to “to ensure our young men can make a stand for social injustice, while at the same time not showing, what is perceived as, disrespect.” (Click here for more of Waggener’s response.)
  • Many players at Maury High in Norfolk, Va., took a knee behind the end zone when the anthem was played. Others stood at attention as did the coaches. “Our school system has said, we’re of the belief, we let our guys do what they believe in,”Coach Chris Fraser told the Virginian Pilot. “And so we didn’t make an issue of it, and if they believe in a cause, that’s fine. I stand behind what they believe in, but I’m going to do what I believe in.”

Trump supporters are deplorable racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic, unredeemable, and not American

From Jonah Bennett/ The Daily Caller

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said Friday that 50 percent of Donald Trump supporters are nothing more than a “basket of deplorables,” which means she considers about 25 percent of America to be “irredeemable.”

“To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables,” Clinton said, according to CNN. “Right? Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it.”

Numerous polls have put Trump’s support numbers at around 45 percent. Half that is 22.5 percent–the exact slice of America with which Clinton seems to have a serious problem.

“And unfortunately, there are people like that and he has lifted them up,” Clinton added. “He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people, now have 11 million. He tweets and retweets offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric.”

In this particular statement, Clinton was referring to Trump’s tacit encouragement of the alt-right. She complained in August that Trump is “taking hate groups mainstream.”

For Clinton, who delivered the remarks at an LGBT fundraiser, the other half of Trump supporters aren’t so bad and happen to escape from falling in the “basket of deplorables.” Instead, these other Trump supporters just feel the government has let them down and also that nobody cares about them.

Clinton’s speech somewhat resembles comments made by GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney during the 2012 election, in which he told a private audience of donors that 47 percent of voters will inevitably opt for President Barack Obama, as they are rely on government handouts.

“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what,” Romney said. “All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it.”
