SOME FOR HONOR AND SOME FOR DISHONOR

Former president Obama’s defenders say his failure to salute the soldiers was an oversight—that it’s unfair to judge.  However, the dishonor he felt toward our men and women in uniform showed through many times during his presidency.  This isn’t a photo of a distracted president.  It’s a snapshot of his heart recorded for all time.

President Trump by contrast, goes out of his way to honor our soldiers.  Nothing can distract him from saluting our brave men and women.  President Trump understands honor.  Memorial Day is all about honor.

Look at the two pictures again: Obama strides past two men who earned the right to be honor guards through years of excellent service.  They are being ignored by a man who essentially leap-frogged from community organizer to president.  On the other hand, Trump—a captain of industry for decades—is humbled to be saluted by these men of valor.

It has been said that only two forces have ever offered to die for you: Jesus Christ and the American soldier.  Let that settle into your spirit.

Jesus Himself knew the kind of character and faith military service could create:

Luke 7:1 “Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum. 2 And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die. 3 So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving, 5  ‘for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue.’

6 Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “

‘Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. 7 Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.’

9 When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, ‘I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!’ 10 And those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well who had been sick.”

Let’s be haunted today by the images of moms separated from young children—of men serving in dark and foreboding forward positions with only dreams of home—of wounded warriors returning home to fight a lifelong battle with their injuries—and most of all, remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and never saw home again.

If there’s not a lump in your throat or a tear in your eye when you think about the sacrifices made for us, then God help you.  On the other hand, if today, God blesses you to thank a soldier or visit the grave of a fallen hero to give honor, be grateful.  Romans 13:7  “…and give honor and respect to all those to whom it is due.” Amen.

  1. I loved what you wrote regarding soldiers Mario. God bless you- you have a kind heart. The only thing Jesus asks us to do is to love.

    1. The little boy who refused to salute the soldiers is a grievous wolf in sheep’s clothing. There is nothing to judge when it shouts from his body language. Outrageous, despicable, inexcusable. Now you can see clearly why Mario urges people to vote, vote, vote. I think this wolf should be kicked out of America. Send him to Iran where he belongs.

  2. Hello Mario,  The two pictures of Obama (not saluting the troops) and Trump, saluting the troops, are not included with this article, as you stated….can you please include them here? Thanks, and God bless you! Linda & Gary PalmerBoise, Idaho USA

  3. 2 huge differences regarding the troops.
    Trump-Respect
    Obama-Disrespect
    2 huge different world views
    Trump-Love for America
    Obama-Hatred for America

  4. I never felt Obama ever loved the American people or service men and women.. thank God for President Trump. He is so very caring and respectful.

  5. Did you intend to include the two photos of the two presidents with the soldiers? In the article it referred to them, but the photos are of different moments. Just checking.

    Thanks, Jeannette Hall

  6. The picture of the female soldier carrying the male soldier is anointed. I went into travailing prayer when I saw it. I looked away and when I looked again I went back into travailing prayer for several minutes. Praise Yah!

  7. Obama was never a good President he didn’t care a out America and it’s disgusting that he was so disrespectful. Trump wasn’t even a politician and he didn’t have to leave what he was doing, a business man making himself rich and decided to run for President but he did and I’m thankful he is our President he has more compassion in his pinky for our soldier’s than Oboma had for anything but himself. Trump has been the best President ever in my book. I pray he will be for the next 4 years. I respect him and I respect our troops that went to fight for our country, my uncle did but not for long he got shot in the foot or ankle. But I feel so bad for those so young that didn’t make it back, they never got to enjoy anything else in their life. God bless them all. And Gid bless you Marrio you too, you are compassionate about many things, I know this by the things you write about. Have a safe weekend everyone!

  8. Oh and if I may, say something else, for the life of me can’t figure out how Obama ever got to be President! But I certainly didn’t wa t Hillary in there. I don’t think any woman should ever be a President. I just don’t think a woman has the ability to run a country! I’m a woman and I still don’t think a woman should be a President! I thank God he knows what He’s doing! Ok I’m done.

  9. That was beautiful, Pastor Mario. Thank you. The disdain that Obama had for our military, police, Christians, and our nation, was on full display, every day of his presidency. Those of us who love America and love the Lord will never forget it. Not that we can’t forgive, we can and we have to, but it’s difficult to find respect in our hearts for someone who used his presidency as a means to get rich off of the taxpayers’ backs.

  10. What a wonderful article! Obama would not even salute our flag. I saw of video of him and Michele making fun of people saluting our flag. I pray for our military constantly! We have the most powerful military in the world. I thank God for that! I am a patriot. I write about our military. It makes me very sad that so many men and women have lost their lives, but we have to lose lives for our freedoms. It wasn’t in vain. I pray for each and every person who has lost a loved one in a war! God bless them all!

  11. Did you see the pictures captured of flies on Obama’s face, symbolic of the lord of the flies?
    People were fooled by his charismatic smile, flattery and words that sounded good but were lies; he said he was Christian but had a hidden islamic agenda; he said he was for traditional marriage then lit up the Whitehouse in the pride flag;
new age channelers said spiritual guides were telling them he was a high spiritual being; unfortunately they didn’t know it was of satan, to make change toward the dark side of evil, calling it good; “Yes I can” played backwards sounded like “serve satan”
Thank God for President Trump! I had a dream before the last election: a bull entered an empty house and broke everything up (proverbial bull in a china shop) and a window in the ceiling opened as a result (a window opened to heaven for those who were blind sheep following a wolf dressed in sheep clothing: a false Shepherd of the Obama-nation abomination; a window opened for God to turn around this “ship” of America into relationship with God our Father through the Son of Righteousness. “Righteousness exalts a nation” Proverbs 14:34.
I remember under Obama that the military chaplains were being told not to use the bible or pray in Name of Jesus; and I even felt the added pressure as a volunteer chaplain at a big medical center to not mention Jesus, and culmination in the head Chaplain, a Christian pastor, leaving and a Jewish woman taking over after big Jewish donors built a new hospital and put in a “meditation room” instead of a chapel, no Cross, just bare, sterile walls. Thank God President Trump seems to be moving toward bringing biblical values and prayer back to a hungry and thirsty America. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied” Matthew 5:6

  12. I didnt see the pictures you were referring to
