The mobs who are tearing America apart have succeeded so far, because they have been able to make Christians feel alone, overwhelmed, and resigned to the lie that this is the new normal. The mobs can do this because they are organized and coordinated, and the church is not. We are under a demonic cloud of psychological manipulation.

The church is being flooded with advice, but that advice only seems to add to the confusion and heaviness. There are many things we need right now, but one stands out. An answer that was right under our noses, and it is so simple we missed it.

We need to correct the worst mistake that the Spirit-filled/ Charismatic/ Pentecostal movement ever made. We need to return to preaching the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and we need to make it a priority to start praying for believers to be filled!

Whatever happened to the Baptism in the Holy Spirit?  You don’t hear about it anymore.  Churches don’t pray with people to receive it anymore.  And there’s a big reason why.

Preacher, if you stopped presenting the Baptism of the Holy Spirit to your people—Satan made you do it.  If there is no room in your service for people to receive this urgent gift—the enemy has seized control of your agenda.  If your people don’t even know what it is—you will answer to God.

No matter how noble, persuasive, or convincing the argument, the decision to exclude the Baptism of the Holy Spirit from the life of the church, is a decision conceived in hell.

Omitting this Baptism was a masterstroke of Satan.

He knew this was the most destructive deception possible.  It created lukewarm Christians.  It single handedly wiped out a huge amount of our soulwinning.  And, it opened the door to untold heresy.

Today, we are swimming in more false teaching, false prophecy and false Christianity than ever before.  All across the internet, ministries dabble in New Age-hybrids of Christian faith, exotic extremes, drunkenness and even perversion.  Turns out, the church is the other swamp that needs draining…

Noted Christian Apologist Ravi Zacharias said, “I had dinner with the most popular preacher on television.  He told me that he did not see much difference between Islam and Christianity.”

How can we hang the blame for such foolishness on the way we have neglected the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?   Let’s examine the evidence.

Jesus said, However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all Truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come” (John 16:13).

Jesus calls Him the Spirit of Truth.  He imparts hunger for the Truth.  It is futile to layer Truth on the unwilling soul.  False teaching abounds because there is a lack of hunger for Truth that the Holy Spirit awakens.  Let’s go back to the root issue:

Don’t make a move without it!

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “Which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now” (Acts 1:4-5).

The church has no witness without it.  Acts 1:8 states: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

The Apostles considered it an extreme urgency for all who have believed on Christ as Savior, to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

-Acts 8:14-15: “Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.”

-Acts 19:1-6: “And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So, they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So, they said, “Into John’s baptism.”  Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.”

We have two extremes in the church:  Those who believe in nothing and those who believe in everything.

Or to put it another way: We have those who know nothing of what the Bible says, and those who believe anything anyone says about the Bible. Both are products of a lack of discernment and power.  It is only after you experience the real presence and power of God that you know what is fake.

Look at the discipleship that resulted from the Baptism of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost:

Acts 2:41-43: “Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.”

One big reason that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not preached today is because it is the natural enemy of church marketing.

When God falls, church culture instantly changes.  Human promotion becomes obsolete.  An audience morphs into an army.  An insatiable hunger for the Word of God replaces sales-pitches.

The preacher who withholds the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is guilty of treason—of withholding a priceless gift that was bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus. They are guilty of holding back an edge of power that would keep the believer strong, alert, and able to win others, a gift that endows them with a prayer language which pierces all adversity.  How dare we hold this back!

The Pentecostal revival is the greatest Christian revival in history.  Beginning in the humble Azusa Street Mission, it has blazed for on for over 100 years, with over 650 million converts.  Only one thing explains it:  The Baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is the answer for this dark hour!

P.S. A Special message to all of our friends from Mario Murillo Ministries

Why do we offer you books? It is certainly not to blunt the impact of the message you just read. In fact, these books reinforce the message we are trying to spread. More on that in a moment.  So, why do we offer them to you?
When the pandemic closed our tent crusades, church meetings and rallies, the Holy Spirit commanded Mario to keep our staff on at full salary, and trust Him. He obeyed and God has provided. But another thing the Holy Spirit grants are wise ideas. And we needed one. That is when the War Chest Collection was born.
If you look at the page you will see no advertising. And there never will be. And if you get our newsletter you will see that we have stopped raising money for projects we can’t do right now. But even that was not good enough for us.
In this pandemic we needed something that was truly a win-win situation. We prayed for something that would help the people, and us, that was not a garish fund raiser.
Then, we remembered how John Wesley taught his young preachers to always bring books with them that would help the people. Why not then, at a time when people have time to read, offer them something that will empower them and at the same time keep us strong and ready to go as soon as the door reopens?
We are amazed at the impact of Vessels of Fire and Glory. That book is not just blessing people—it has started a movement! Critical Mass remains required reading in many Christian schools and has never stopped influencing people who pray for revival. Edgewise offers wisdom for living in the last days. Together they provide you with solid, hard-hitting and encouraging truth. Not a bad thing just now.
The War Chest Collection has handed the enemy a double defeat by empowering God’s people and keeping us strong and ready.
Thank you for listening and get your War Chest Collection today. Turn your summer read into equipping, encouragement, and fire! We are all going to come out of this mightier than ever!   -Mario Murillo Ministries

  1. Mario, There is nothing as important as the infilling of The Holy Spirit, with the initial physical evidence of Speaking in ones Prayer Language.

I was raised Pentecostal, Assemblies of God when it was something to be reckoned with.

BUT! There are Nine Manifestations of The Holy Spirit’s Presence in a Congregation and if Tongues is the only thing sought after then one may be seeking Tongues to fit in. As I did.

Every church needs a Pastor who is an enabler not a shepherd over stupid sheep.

A SMART pastor encourages the folks God has placed under his guidance to develop Spiritual Manifestations “severally”. And, he needs to be aware and listen when one of those has a Word of Wisdom or a Word of Knowledge for him or the whole church.

We all need the ability to pray intensely in Our heavenly Language as The Spirit helps us with our infirmities and concerns. BUT, the the church as a whole is in desperate need of all Nine Manifestations (proofs) of The Holy Spirit Presence.

I do not regret Speaking in Tongues, but I sought it for the wrong reasons, and it cost me the incredible closeness I had in my walk prior. The instantness in The Spirit, the Recall of The Spirit that just wasn’t there anymore like it was before.

Seek because Jesus says you need it, not to fit in so *they* will let you minister, which they never did.

    1. what we need are believers who are strong enough not to need a pastor. A Pastor is there for the new believers. We are the elders, often stronger than the pastors. Our problem is that it is too comfortable to let the pastor (a coach) do everything while we (the players) sit sleeping in the pews.

      1. Agreed! The difference between “my” church and *His* Church. Between being a shepherd of dumb sheep and an enabler of Ministry.

An Evangelist is a different office as is an Apostle… I think many pastor try to dwell in the Apostolic when they have neither the Spiritual Gifting or Calling to do so.

  3. Most churches do not celebrate Pentecost nor do they even mention or preach or lay hands on to receive the Holy Spirit. The Lord told me his Holy Spirit cannot work in a church were there is a religious spirit blocking him.

we are not. They are of one spirit [sic], but we are not of one Spirit, as we should be. Why are we not? Because, as Mario says, we are not all baptized in the Holy Spirit. Why has God permitted this to happen? Can the prophet speak beyond the Given message? Is it typical of man’s spirit to go to an excess? Could it be that we have been given 100 years of Spirit experience to learn HOW TO WALK TOGETHER IN ONENESS OF SPIRIT – with no excess (to mature as teachers)? Neither too little or too much. Leaders who now know how to ‘walk in the Spirit’ can now Baptize in the Spirit – and keep order within the bounds of scriptural boundaries. No more excess this time! Ready or not, here HE comes! bsh

  5. Jesus said we MUST WAIT!! for the Holy Spirit to come upon each soul to Empower those souls to both to receive the Living Word of the Spirit which is Christ Himself WITHIN their souls so they can grow and develop just as a baby does in the human family BUT we don’t WAIT simply because it’s not or never taught in the carnal misguided churches. And so this is where the FAMINE exists Not for the natural as we have plenty of that but for HEARING the Word which the opposing Anti-Christ professing preachers don’t allow the sheep who are seeking the Lord to Enter because they themselves do NOT Enter

  6. big amen preach it, time to give the church back to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, satan has had it way to long, they came in a pushed out the Holy Spirit and fire and let all there witchcraft and sorcery come in, setting the stage for the antichrist and fake signs and wonders, and they couldn’t do that with out first pushing out the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, disarming the church and turning the mighty army of God into a cub scout troop, and its time we put the Holy Spirit back in control where he belongs, with all power and might, and become the mighty army of the living God, who wins souls, lays hands on the sick, cast out demons instead of petting them, WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT BACK AND WE MUST REPENT AND ASK HIM BACK IN AND TAKE CONTROL.

  7. Thank you. This is so right on target. Pastors have become pleasers of people, afraid to offend, afraid of the price it will cost to be sold out to Jesus. I’m so tired of the “love one another” messages right now. May God show me the next steps. Susi Perry Omaha

  8. This is one of the most powerful teachings I have heard let from Mario. Think about it in our own lives when was the last time we asked the Host Spirit to set us on fire, so we can be examples to others. God is seeking for relationship THROUGH the Holy Spirit with Us. The real problems aren’t out side of us they are inside of us. WE decide how much of the Holy Spirit WE want to be reviled in ourselves and our church’s.

  9. How I praise the Lord for hearing about the baptism in the Holy Spirit at just the right time. I was discouraged with my inability to live the Christian life as it is laid out in the New Testament. My church also did not seem to be operating as Scripture taught. I was ready to quit it all and very discouraged.

A pastor I knew told me to read Joy Unspeakable by D. Martyn Lloyd Jones. I began to pray for the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and received it, and my Christian walk has never been the same since!!

Yes, yes, we all need this, especially at this hour!

    1. My niece Debbie went forward in a Charismatic Church to give her life to God. She cried for an hour at the alter, then was filled with the Holy Spirit at the alter and got a word from the Lord all at one time, from going forward at the alter call.

  10. Clear cut truth! God and company will not continue any longer, to support the world’s mechanism operating in his body, most especially since he’s calling for his body to now begin to look like those ” without spot, nor wrinkle” … spot meaning carrying round sin in their lives, and wrinkle … those who are still adhering to fake news (not the good news of the gospel!) Only a contrite surrender and walking the path of obedience of the Spirit will take us where he wants us to go. Pray in tongues that others may catch the flame of baptism and surrender to him.

  11. Our real ability, to stand out, to make change, is manifesting holy spirit. What our G-D placed within us at the new birth. We are whole. Speaking in Tongues is perfect prayer, perfect worship.

However manifesting is not just speaking in tongues. It is receiving revelation, word of knowledge and word of wisdom as well as being able to know what devil spirits are operating in a person or group. Then there are the manifestation of believing (beyond what mere men can do), of miracles and gifts of healing.

What would happen if we were to raise up someone killed in one of these shootings happening in the big cities? What happen if we administered healing to a guy person with AIDS? We would not blow the minds of the unbelievers but those within dead churches. And especially contrast with Islam.

We have the tools, given at the new birth. Now use them.

    1. What would happen if you spelled GOD correctly? What would happen if you wrote Holy Spirit instead of holy spirit. What would happen if you stopped denying the Trinity? What would happen if you stopped saying the new birth is the Baptism in the Holy Spirit?

Thank you for your gutsy glaring and ferocious LION of Judah honesty!!!

  13. yes and amen! pour Your Spirit upon all flesh! give every one dreams, visions and prophesy of Jesus, especially give Muslims dreams of Jesus, Father God! Jesus is God’s perfect Divine Solution that does no harm (unlike worldly solutions)! The answer to every problem in the world is Jesus! Thank you Abba Father for sending Jesus! thank you Jesus for the finished work of the Cross! thank you Holy Spirit for living with and in true believers, and upon us with the baptism of Jesus, Holy Spirit and fire! glorified Presence! we see and are changed! we partner with God our Father and his Christ! thank you Abba Father for the Way, the Truth and the Life!!!
