WHAT ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE WHO WILL DIE?

Few seem to be talking about the death toll that may result if the economy remains shut longer than it should.  And how many have already died? I reject the notion that wanting to reopen America puts “profits over people.” I see some on the Left putting political agenda over people.

Lives Depend on Economic Activity. When you stop that, then you kill people. Before we insist on totally destroying the American economy, we must weigh the risk of reopening businesses—because there is always risk—against the risk of not reopening. We must not allow fear, induced by those with hidden motives, to bring us to disaster.

Remember the forecasts that virus-related death-totals for the United States would range from as high as 10 million, to a low of 2.2 million?  Thank God they were so, so wrong. Of course any death is too much death but we must separate fact from fiction. To stay shut until there is zero threat is unrealistic. That day will never come. But something will come if we stay shut too long. The danger is, hardly anyone is talking about the other calamity that may doom our nation. Thank God some are talking about it.

Thomas K. Duncan, Ph.D., an associate professor of economics at Radford University, and Audrey Redford Ph.D., the assistant professor of economics at Western Carolina University wrote an article entitled: How Shutting Down The Economy Much Longer Could Kill Tens Of Thousands Of Americans.

The article appeared in The Federalist March 30, 2020.  Here is an excerpt from their article:

“The recession could be longer than some economists are projecting. If the economy does linger in its downturn, the human costs to the shutdown will inevitably begin to increase.”

The article suggests that there could possibly be “28,797 More Deaths from Opioids,” based on the following calculations:

“A 2017 National Bureau of Economic Research paper finds a 3.6% increase in the opioid death rate per 100,000 people (when there is a) 1% rise in unemployment. There were 14.6 opioid death rates per 100,000 in the United States in 2018. If we use the more conservative estimate of a 20% unemployment rate without a quick return to lower levels, then there would be an estimated 59.4% rise in deaths per 100,000, leading to an increase of 8.7 deaths for a total of 23.3 for opioids.”

If unemployment were to increase, then so would both suicide and homicide:

“The deaths related to economic downturns go beyond those from chemical dependency, also. The mental toll is not inconsequential. For example, Blakely, et al, (2003) finds that being unemployed may also increase the risk of suicide two to threefold. Milner, et al. (2014) similarly finds that unemployment is associated with a higher relative risk of suicide, with prior mental health issues being a key factor in that association. While a study by Kerr, et al, (2018) did not find that unemployment is directly linked to suicides, it did find a significant link between poverty, suicide, and alcoholism.

“With our estimated 16.5% rise in unemployment, we could see a significant increase in both property and violent crimes. The violent crime also may add to the death toll in this period.”

After reading the article, I came to a conclusion: I do not want to risk anyone’s life. We should stay home until it is reasonably safe. But our definition of safety must be weighed against the risk of death from listening to leftists who have other goals.

It is far too tempting for the Left. They have demonstrated a passion for three things to happen:

  1. They want desperately, above all else, for Trump to lose the election.
  2. They want to replace Free Market Capitalism with Socialism.
  3. And they want to weaken the church.

In order to accomplish these three goals, they have also demonstrated an amoral viciousness in their remarks against Trump and his handling of the virus pandemic. They simply can’t be trusted or allowed to make such a critical decision as reopening.

No one can look inside the heart of someone and truly know what goes on there. Jeremiah 17:9 says: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?” We already know they believe America is so unfair and stupid that they will blame the failure of the economy on Trump and not on the virus.

But who knows? Their hatred may go deep enough to cheer on the destruction of our economy, just so the chaos will birth Socialism.  Or, that the devastation will close churches for good.

Here’s the one I want to focus on. I personally know of many churches that cannot afford to stay closed much longer. I also expect that even if the arc of viral infection flattens, Blue State Governors will still push for keeping churches closed.

Sadly, theologically challenged believers will dismiss the notion that churches will be permanently closed because of this. They will quote Matthew 16:18, “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

Of course, the universal church of Christ will not go out of existence, but I know congregations and pastors who will have to shut their doors if this economic shutdown goes on much longer.

To say that churches can’t be shut down for good is to deny the existence of underground churches all over the world that have already lost their rights and their buildings.

Churches provide a necessary healing gift. They stop suicide. Faith based ministries rescue people from dying every day. Only God knows if any have died since drug programs and outreach ministries have been shut down. There is no way to replace the human touch online.

If the virus becomes an open-ended political excuse—relying on models that are leftist and not scientific—then we have to do some deep soul searching. If we see our leaders are willing to allow the deaths that we know will happen from a dead economy—and closed churches—because they want to prevent the ones that might happen, then it’s no longer prudence, it’s politics.

Agree with me in fervent prayer for President Donald Trump. When to reopen America will be the hardest and greatest decision of his entire career. Pray for wisdom greater than any human intellect.

THE THREE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS

Pray with intense focus: Pray, knowing that God is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. But what should we be seeking in prayer today? There are 3 things that have been burning in my heart to ask for. Here they are in the order in which I believe we need to pray for them.

1. The local church. Why would I mention this first? This current hysteria threatens to hit the local church hard. That is not good on more levels than you may realize. Satan wants to weaken churches in America for several important reasons.

Pray against the temptation to develop the habit of staying home from church after this is over.

Pray that believers will continue to financially support their church now, even if they are compelled to stay home.

Pray that state governments will not use this as an excuse to persecute the church.  Few things are more dangerous right now than the state drifting from justifiable health guidelines into police brutality. Only a fool doesn’t know about the growing outright hostility toward Christians in the Blue states. Their mouths are watering at the prospect of shutting down churches. They are looking for any excuse, and we must rebuke all demonic power and ask God to cause the fire of revival to fall on churches everywhere. The disruption of churches in America is from Satan. Pure and simple.

Worshiping together is a key to Christianity. Matthew 18:19-20, “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Remember: We are the only movement in history where the founder attends every meeting.

If there is a chance for you to worship with others and you opt instead for worshiping alone or as the hippies among us love to say, “I will commune with nature.” You may find some blessing, but you will not receive the full measure that the power of agreement provides.

Hebrews 10: 25 urges us: “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day (of the Lord) approaching.” House meetings are being touted as a substitute for corporate worship. And this not a problem if the motives are pure. Often, however, these meetings are led by leaders who are engaging in self-promotion. They are doing it because they did not get the recognition they felt they deserved in a church setting.  This is a lot like socialism: it sounds good, but it has never worked because the true motives are wrong.

I believe that something good can come out of this. Maybe we will remember the joy and satisfaction of simple church…before we got all slick and professional.

We must also pray fervently for the persecuted church around the world.

2. That America will repent. Americans who pray today had better repent. Every mouth that prays today must begin by asking for forgiveness. Any kind of asking that comes before repentance will offend God’s holiness. We are a nation of great wickedness. We have thumbed our nose at God. We have murdered the innocents and destroyed marriage. We celebrate things that God abhors.

Daniel was not guilty of the sins of Israel and yet he repented for them. In Daniel 9:4-5, he wrote, “And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession, and said, “O Lord, great and awesome God, Who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments,  we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments.”

The one thing we do not want to see is this: 2 Chronicles 28:22, “Now in the time of his distress King Ahaz became increasingly unfaithful to the Lord.”  If America smugly assumes she can ask and stay unfaithful to the Lord—or worse, become even more unfaithful—that would spell certain doom.

3. Pray that God will show mercy and curse this virus. Do not ask with pride, spouting your, “rights and privileges.” Humbly declare, “We are not deserving of a national miracle, but we humbly beg for Your mercy.” In this prayer, we must remember that all the nations of the world far less able to fight this pandemic.

I am a firm believer in miracles of healing and in the power of God to drive back disease. But I have never seen miracles break out when the voices calling upon God were charged with pride and entitlement.

Our Father and our God, have mercy on us this day as we turn from our wicked ways. We do not ask for comfort and ease, we ask for holy desires and the resolve to fight on in order to share the Gospel with the world. We forsake all those things that have become our idols. We condemn perverse and unnatural desires that have aroused Your anger against us. We pray in the name that is above all names—the Name of Jesus!

OBAMA JUST REMINDED US

Here’s what Obama tweeted yesterday: “We’ve seen all too terribly the consequences of those who denied warnings of a pandemic. We can’t afford any more consequences of climate denial. All of us, especially young people, have to demand better of our government at every level and vote this fall.”

Barack Obama just accused Trump of killing Americans, when he accuses him of denying early warnings of a pandemic. But think with me: was it Donald Trump who denied the warnings, or was it the Democrats?

Fact: Early on, Trump banned flights from China. Immediately, Obama’s disciples screamed that Trump overreacted because of racism. Mr. Obama, may I ask you, “Tell me again: Who was in denial?”

Fact: As I wrote in an earlier blog, after Trump’s travel ban, the health director of Democrat-controlled New York City and Mayor Bill De Blasio both encouraged people to go out to restaurants and to gather in crowds! They especially defended going ahead with Chinese New Year celebrations, so they would ‘not look racist.’ This helped to spread the virus.

Barack, may I ask you a second question: “When you say we’ve seen the “consequences of those who denied warnings of a pandemic,” you were referring to the Democrat leaders of New York City, right?””

Today we were reminded of the mind numbing illogic peculiar to Obama and those who hate Trump. It goes like this:

  1. a) blame the current administration for the very thing we are guilty of doing wrong, and then we can take credit for what they are doing right [Remember, how he took credit for the Trump economy?]
  2. b) pontificate with high sounding words that say absolutely nothing
  3. c) cite not a single fact, and
  4. d) provide zero solutions for the problem.

Barack Obama’s words for today are ‘denial’ and ‘consequences.’ First he accused Trump (of course, we all know he meant Trump) of being responsible for denying warnings about the coronavirus. Then he accused Trump of the consequences of denying global warming—a subject that, right now, is on the mind of absolutely no one.

Obama can’t help being a walking public service announcement. When he spoke in Dallas at the funeral of the five police officers who were killed by a black shooter, he digressed from comforting the families to insert a cringe-worthy statement regarding the “African-American community that feels unfairly targeted by police and police departments…”

But today, the worst part did not come from Barack Obama, but from USA Today’s comment about Obama’s tweet: “Former President Barack Obama appeared to take a swipe at President Donald Trump’s initial skepticism of the coronavirus pandemic, a rare rebuff for a President who tends not to weigh in on the work of other Presidents.” How rich!

Rare rebuff? Since he left office, Obama has been blasting Trump openly here in America and overseas. Not to mention the Deep State he left behind—operatives who have sworn their undying allegiance to do everything possible to topple Trump. In its article, USA Today reminded us all that fake new still covers for Obama, no matter what.

Today, Obama again spoke. He spoke with all the dismissive, detached smugness that let him sleep like a baby through the Benghazi attack. He said what didn’t need to be said—in the way it shouldn’t have been said—at the worst possible time to say it.

The only part he got right was this: “All of us, especially young people, have to demand better of our government at every level and vote this fall.”  To that, I say, “Amen!”

Today, especially in the throes of the worst death toll of any day in this pandemic, we realize what a blessing it is that Barrack Obama is no longer President.

BE SENSIBLE BUT REJECT HYSTERIA

Separating what is true from what is false about Coronavirus is difficult, because this is a new pathogen. I am the last person to ever recommend risky behavior, so I did a lot of homework before coming to the conclusions you will read here.

The best information I could find tells me that in 80% of the cases of those who have actually contracted the Coronavirus, the symptoms are mild. Out of 350 million Americans, as of today, 17 have died. And, in almost every one of those cases, there were serious pre-existing health issues.

In the field of viruses, I trust Doctor Marc Siegel as much as anyone. He has been on the frontline of several of these kinds of incidents. He said, “I have never seen a new virus or bacteria handled as well by our public health officials as this one, with sober attention paid to identifying, isolating and tracing contacts of known or suspected cases along with restricting travel as best they can.”

The bottom line is this: That by no means is an excuse for reckless behavior. We are still facing an unknown outcome. We must be vigilant but not terrorized.

At the very least wash your hands frequently and thoroughly. That means using soap for longer than 20 seconds. And avoid touching your face.

Now, let’s talk about the agenda of evil. Bill Maher said two things that indicate the Left may be trying to promote a panic. He said that he hoped the economy would tank so that Trump would not be reelected. No, I am not making that up. He wants people thrown out of work and millions of Americans broke, just to get rid of Trump.

The other thing he said is even more breathtaking. Maher said that one good thing that can come out of the Coronavirus is that people will “stop liking Trump.” Yes, the Left is that far gone.

When you see hysteria being stirred up, all you need to do is look for who that benefits.  If our economy is being devastated, who benefits from that? Look for those who are rooting for that to happen just to put the blame on Trump.

However, the greatest evil is coming from Satan himself. I believe he is trying to destroy the momentum of the church—a church that is just now shaking itself out of complacency! He wants panic to keep you out of gatherings where the fire and glory of God is flowing.

It is certainly not my intention to make this sound ‘super-spiritual.’ But, I can’t think of a better and safer place for you and your immune system than a Holy Ghost meeting!  What better place could you be, than in church praising and worshiping where the anointing is strong? Come on now. Instead of hunkering down and turning your home into a bomb shelter, grab the family and get to the house of God!

Talking about soul winning—now is the time to get a friend who is in the grip of fear and take them where the healing waters flow. Declare, “Washing your hands is important, but washing your soul is infinitely and eternally better. Come with me, I promise all your fears will vanish.” The sick will be healed. The pastor, prophet, evangelist, teacher, or apostle will declare a word over you that will bring joy, power and boldness! Stay home? Never!

That God-ordained conference must go on. That Sunday and midweek service is more important now than ever! Why sit at home to avoid an infection, when you can go to the House of God and get an infusion? Hallelujah!

The television news is attempting to pour human wisdom and dread into your spirit. Why not rather meet with a vessel of God who will rightly divide the Word of Truth and tell you what God says about your health, your future, and your destiny?

We must refuse to allow a human-based panic to cause us to become an underground church before the time.  Come together with the body of Christ, because:

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of self-control. (2 Tim. 1:7)

And finally, these powerful promises:

You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night…nor of the plague that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction that surprises at noonday. Though a thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, it shall not come near you. Only a spectator shall you be as you witness the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, there shall no evil befall you, nor any plague come near your dwelling.  Psalm 91:5-7, 10

Christian Leaders are saying lies about you

The one thing you want to do in 2020 is to defeat evil.  And evil is about to take a nasty turn—a turn you need to beware of. The hate is going to turn away from Trump to you—specifically Christians who support Trump.

The God haters have failed to bring down Trump. He has survived, yea, even grown more popular; thriving after all their attacks. The economy continues to amaze. Minorities have more jobs than ever. The Left is pulling its hair out as it tries to find a way to defeat our President. So, they went to the dark regions of hell to find out how to do it: shame the Christians.

Take Chuck Todd, host of Meet the Press for an example. He portrays Trump supporters as people who have been trained from childhood to believe in what he calls ‘fairy tales’—people ‘who want to be lied to’—and he read this from a letter to the editor, “show me a person who believes in Noah’s Ark and I will show you a Trump voter.”

And because Jesus clearly mentioned Noah and the ark in Matthew 24, this is an attack on our Lord.  This is a direct shot at Christians. He is calling Bible believers buffoons, and by association, he is calling Jesus Christ a buffoon.

Now I get to the darker side of all this: Christian leaders who are telling lies about you. Remember FBI Agent Peter Strzok who said, “Just went to a Southern Virginia Wal-Mart. I could SMELL the Trump support.”

Well, Mark Galli Editor of Christianity Today  magazine just gave us his version of that: “I know hardly anyone, let alone any evangelical Christian who voted for Trump. I describe evangelicals like me as ‘elite’ evangelicals … and this class of evangelicals has discovered that we have family members so different they seem like aliens in our midst. These other evangelicals often haven’t finished college, and if they have jobs (and apparently a lot of them don’t), they are blue-collar jobs or entry-level work. They don’t write books or give speeches; they don’t attend conferences of evangelicals for social justice or evangelicals for immigration reform. They are deeply suspicious of mainstream media. A lot of them voted for Donald Trump.”

What you have here is so smug, and misguided that I can’t find a place to begin responding to it. Mark Galli is, by his own words, an elitist. He is better than you—you sad, redneck, illiterate Christian Trump supporter. He is smarter, he finished college and he has a job. You on the other hand are entry level, remedial and, God forbid, suspicious of the mainstream media.

Worst of all, you don’t attend SJW conferences on immigration. Conferences that we now know were funded in part by George Soros—who doesn’t care about immigrants as much as he cares about dividing the church and creating a one-world government.

Mark Galli is telling lies about you. He doesn’t understand that the evil one has riled him up and given him a wispy need for recognition from the intellectual community. For ten years I have watched a number of smart Christians seduced in Berkeley by the need to water down their faith in order to be accepted among the “intelligentsia.”

Remember when Peter played the hypocrite and ate with Gentiles until the Jewish believers from Jerusalem arrived? Then he withdrew from the Gentile believers. Paul rebuked Peter publically, and wrote about it in the book of Galatians chapter 2! It’s the same thing. Guys like Mark Galli seem to need the approval of the media. Small wonder he appeared on CNN right after this.

Lest you think it is wrong to name names, take a look at the long list of heretics mentioned by name in the New Testament. From Paul calling out Alexander and Hymenaeus, to John naming Diotrophes. It is biblical to warn the sheep about wolves.

Mark Galli’s now infamous editorial where he called for Trump to be removed from office is his second lie. There is no evidence that Trump committed any impeachable offense. Nancy Pelosi found nothing. That’s why she hasn’t gone forward with the process and presented the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate, holding up the trial she knows is going nowhere.

Mark Galli took their false accusation, and stated it as fact.

But he is not the only Christian Leader lying about you. Beth Moore tweeted Galli saying “My hat’s off to you, @markgalli. Respect.” She is commending someone for making a false accusation. She also lies by signaling that no true Christian man can support Trump.

Her biggest lie is that she said the evangelical movement died in 2016.

It is also possible to lie by omission. Neither of these leaders ever criticized Obama or the Christians who violated their conscience by voting for Obama.

So let’s talk about Christian Trump supporters.

1.Many of them are positive thinkers and entrepreneurs. President Trump has a winners approach to life, and his followers resonate with that. These are the church members most likely to give big to a vision or help pay off the building.  They are not the critics and legalistic people that hinder you, pastor.

2.Most Christian Trump supporters are patriotic. They love America.  They believe that we live in the greatest country on earth.  They are angry that our laws and our Constitution are being disregarded by secular progressives. They are angry with professional athletes who disgrace our flag and national anthem.  They stand with cops, the military, and first responders.

3. The majority of Christian Trump supporters are all about common sense. They believe:

  • Our trade deals with other nations made no sense.

  • Political correctness is a silly idea that has morphed into a tedious tyranny.

  • It makes no sense to judge Trump’s past bankruptcies while ignoring the insane legacy of socialism.

  • It makes no sense to leave our borders unsecured and allow an influx of criminals who have committed millions of crimes and have killed our children.

  • It makes no sense to vote for a party that would oppress the church with regulations that force Christians, Churches, and Christian employers out of business.

  • It is a national disgrace that public schools in America are forcing children to participate in demonic practices such as Buddhist meditation and sexually perverted role playing.

  • It makes no sense to support the party that would turn Christian witnessing into a hate crime.

  • It makes no more sense to reject Trump for statements he made 11 years ago than holding Paul responsible for putting Christians to death 11 years before his Damascus road conversion.

  • It makes no sense to compare Donald Trump’s tax forms to 33,000 emails that Hillary criminally erased—emails that posed a national security threat.

Shaming Christians who support Trump will be the weapon of choice for 2020. But don’t you dare be ashamed!  These Christian leaders who are lying about you, they are the ones who bear the real shame.
