IS GOD DOING A SECRET WORK IN YOU?

by Mario Murillo

Many Christians are fed up with the world system—especially the way it operates in the church.  They leave church thinking, “this is not it, there’s something bad wrong here.”  They can’t stomach the glitzy entertainment centers anymore.

They are angry at ego-centric pastors with grandiose, expense and carnal visions.  They accuse them of being distracted—even derailed from their first love.   Disciples are abandoning attraction churches—something revolutionary is happening inside them.  God has started a secret work in them.

Many honest Pastors are also in divine turmoil.  The enemy condemned them for having a smaller church.   After years of blood sweat and tears their churches were battered, broken and diminished because they can’t compete with mega-mania.

And why can’t they compete? It’s because they keep their integrity!   When they see large crowds and big money pour effortlessly into churches that either hide or pervert the Gospel…it’s easy to feel like a fool for staying true.  The Bible says, “Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, And washed my hands in innocence. For all day long I have been plagued, and chastened every morning.” Psalm 73:13,14.

However, our friend in Psalm 73 came to a great conclusion. After being bull-dozed by the success of the wicked he took action “16 When I thought how to understand this, It was too painful for me—17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end.”  Many pastor’s  hearts are crying out for more—for a miracle they can’t even describe.

When he entered the sanctuary exhausted and discouraged, the greatness of God began to overtake him.  He saw that there is no version of this battle where Satan wins.  This is a part of the secret work God is doing in pastors!

A growing number of hungry hearts agree—with all its money and crowds—the compromised church did nothing to rebuke America’s sin.  The seeker model was a house of cards against the onslaught on the unborn and marriage.  While men slept, we had millions of abortions and marriage was destroyed.  The last 10 years we have lost battle after battle in government, education and the media.  We are a hopelessly divided nation—to a large extent the pulpit is to blame.

Charles Finney said, “If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in Christianity, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it.”

Deep, deep in my soul where the real knowing happens—I know God is doing something new.  Every atom of my being tells me that God is doing a secret work in His people.  God is finished with hirelings.  He is drawing a remnant out of corruption and into a special, supernatural nearness to Him.  They will empty themselves of everything, every ambition will be burned out but one…to love and please Christ.

Is God doing a secret work in you?  Has God closed you in and stripped you of all enjoyment of lesser things?  Are you in divine frustration because you are going to be a part of something only God can do?

What if millions of Americans get so miserable that they cry out to God in total desperation?  What if their cry is too deep and their hunger is too great to ever be happy in a lukewarm church?  This is why the Holy Spirit is recruiting a new breed…a breed that can be trusted in an awakening.

God is doing a secret work!  He is pulling a remnant to Himself.  He is taking the prophetic core and communing with them—training them—empowering them—preparing them for one last mighty blast of power.  The Holy Spirit sees that our nation hangs by a thread.  The death-rattle is in America’s throat.   Before God allows destruction—He is going to do one last massive miracle.  What will that look like?

-People no one’s ever heard of will come to the forefront.  They will arrive with awesome power and piercing messages.  Not all of them will be regular ministers.  In fact, the majority will not leave their secular careers as God is using them.  Some will be children!

-Strange locations will house massive outpourings.  Churches that have been small for years will become ground zero of God’s presence.   People will flock in from everywhere to these centers of fire and glory.  Stunning signs and wonders will rock entire communities.  These churches will be forced to stay open 24 hours a day.

God is doing a secret work in you.  He is making you miserable to make you into a miracle.

A.C. Valdez was a child at Azusa Street who later became an evangelist.  God showed him the future and here is what he said:  “All the electrifying adjectives in the dictionary shaken together, pressed down and running over will not begin to describe the soon-to-come, greatest outpouring of the Holy Spirit of all times-what the Bible calls “the latter rain.”  You are going to see lay members carry out an amazing ministry through gifts of the Holy Spirit.  There will be wholesale cures of “incurable” conditions, healings of the blind, deaf, dumb, and handicapped, and creative miracles that will strain the imagination.  For those born without eyes ears, fingers arms or legs-or those who have lost them through disease or accidents- God will make new ones. Many astonishing miracle swill happen to bring on an international Christian breakthrough.”  I believe A.C. Valdez is not talking about a time far off in the future.. he is talking about now because, my friend it is now or never.

The Surprise in San Francisco

A stunning rebuke to watered down Christianity came from an unlikely place: San Francisco.

It was my honor to partner with Chris Burns and the amazing army that formed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love in Golden Gate Park.  THE SOUND was an outreach of many powerful worship artists, dynamic speakers, and a committed core linked hearts to bless the city.  But one thing that happened has wide implications to all believers. A scientific experiment will help you appreciate what I mean.

Biologists put a thick pane of glass in the middle of a large rectangular aquarium.  After filling it with water, they stocked it with small fish on one side of the glass barrier and their natural predator on the other.

Over and over, the larger fish slammed into the invisible barrier trying to feed on the smaller fish.  This went on for days until they gave up.  Then, the scientists removed the glass divider and saw something remarkable: The predators behaved as if the barrier was still there—they didn’t try to eat the small fish. They didn’t even try to go to the other side of the tank.

When we think of San Francisco—and rightly so—we think of smug, anti-God intellectual, lovers of pleasure.  We also think of youth—hard wired, by activist educators, to reject Christ. The church is conditioned not to fish here. There’s your glass pane.

In outreach after outreach, Mario Murillo Ministries has never acknowledged a glass barrier in San Francisco.  It was true again on July 6th and 7th when we joined forces with Chris Burns to win souls in the city.

Holy Ghost boldness overtook me.  I preached an unvarnished soul-winning message.  I refused to employ verbal gymnastics to appeal to a sophisticated culture.

Why—if this place is so hard—did so many respond, so immediately, to a direct gospel appeal?  Nothing was sugar-coated.  It was no credit to oratory.  It was a simple case of hungry and hurting souls reaching out to Jesus—because He was offered to them.

The pictures tell you how many came forward.  Even more astounding was the report Chris gave me about the invasion the next day: “We saw hundreds saved as we took over Golden Gate Park.”

Time and time again, I’ve warned the American church…there is a great harvest in our nation, even in San Francisco.  And…if there is a harvest in San Francisco, how much more in the rest of America?

Fish treading water refusing to eat is ridiculous; preachers refusing to harvest is beyond ridiculous—it is an embarrassment to our cause.  Watered-down, apologetic, murky preaching is a grandiose, inexcusable, waste of time.

Here is the giant question: why are so many Americans so hungry for Christ now?  The answer is simple: our culture made them miserable—a culture created by an elite core of power brokers.  It might be Hollywood; it might be our—hell-bent on telling Americans what to think—media.  They dictate what we should believe, what is good for us, what is right behavior and finally, what would make us happy. None of it works.

Social prophets bludgeon us with progressive platitudes and put a muzzle on any opposing voice.  Group think is the only way Americans can believe patently stupid contradictions: free speech is a threat to freedom—open marriage deepens commitment—suicide is victory—violence is love.

They can control almost everything, but one thing they cannot control: the damage on the soul—the vacuum that hi-tech selfishness creates—the misery of trying to endure on medicated self-pity.

The American church is bitterly failing a generation because we are still hoodwinked by an old model.  We still see the reluctant seeker—the spiritual looky-look.  We don’t see the desperate hearts that grope in darkest America.

We are failing a generation because we are not stronger than our excuses.  The empty calories served up on Sunday morning are a tribute to denial.  They deny the power of the Gospel, and they deny the hunger of the people.  Half-cures are now irrelevant.

The compromised church isn’t the only problem.  Some churches are just strange. There are pastors who pull their hair out trying to understand why new visitors don’t come to church.  They never consider that their shenanigans are weird to outsiders and their members are too embarrassed to invite friends.

When their bizarre and self-serving antics make visitors walk out, they smugly assume they are under conviction.  No…they just think we’re crazy.

The crushing heartbreak is that both these extremes—with their useless methods—continue to be celebrated.  Meanwhile, a nation dies, and lost souls go into eternity.

Every day, Satan sells a new drug that kills kids faster.  Every hour, a new perversion twists the minds of our children.

Mario Murillo Ministries walks the tightrope of the radical middle.  The tepid church rejects us because we preach fire and operate under Holy Spirit unction.  The hyper-emotional church rejects us because we use rigid discipline to keep it real for lost souls.

Right now, I should be rejoicing over the harvest in San Francisco, instead, it ignites fire in my bones.  Millions want the power the Gospel offers.  Leftists lie about it, and Christians misrepresent it.  Nevertheless, I am filled with hope.

There is a story of 4 brave lepers that mirrors the experiment about the fish:  God had scared the enemy away but the city under siege didn’t realize it.  2 Kings 7: 7 “Therefore they arose and fled at twilight, and left the camp intact—their tents, their horses, and their donkeys—and they fled for their lives.  And when these lepers came to the outskirts of the camp, they went into one tent and ate and drank, and carried from it silver and gold and clothing, and went and hid them; then they came back and entered another tent, and carried some from there also, and went and hid it. 9 Then they said to one another, ‘We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent.’”

All the resources to save a starving city sat unused.  The army they feared was gone.  They simply didn’t bother to check the enemy’s camp.  The same is true now.  God keeps everything ready that we need to reach America.  If only we would see that and act on this great promise.

Mario Murillo Ministries is not going to sit and wait for squeamish theologians to figure out how hungry Americans are for Jesus; and how much provision stands ready for those who will rightly divide the Word of God.  The harvest in San Francisco is only the beginning of surprises that God has in store.  Come with us on this great adventure.

THE WORD OF THE LORD FOR THIS HOUR

Facebook oozes with voices claiming to be prophets or mouthpieces for God.   The internet teems with self-appointed prophets who scream to be heard, bombarding us with “prophetic words.”  Almost all these prophecies shout one of two headlines: AMERICA IS PAST HOPE AND WILL BE DESTROYED.  AMERICA IS FAVORED AND WILL NEVER BE DESTROYED.

The Word of The Lord for this Hour

By Mario Murillo

Facebook oozes with voices claiming to be prophets or mouthpieces for God.   The internet teems with self-appointed prophets who scream to be heard, bombarding us with “prophetic words.”  Almost all these prophecies shout one of two headlines: AMERICA IS PAST HOPE AND WILL BE DESTROYED.  AMERICA IS FAVORED AND WILL NEVER BE DESTROYED.

So, what is the word of the Lord for this hour?  Now hear the word of the Lord!

To autonomously pronounce judgement is to play God.  Doomsdayers are calling off the attack against evil when God has not.  They are sounding a false retreat.  They are making evangelism futile.  They are helping put souls in hell by discouraging soul-winners.

Don’t lie to yourself.  Don’t make up prophecies of judgement just because you are mad at the church.  Face it!  Your righteous indignation may be nothing more than a personal grudge that your ministry was rejected by the church.

However, the great danger is not an abundance of prophets of doom.  It is the false prophets of grace and entitlement who are most dangerous.

In a wonderful book entitled The American Miracle written by Michael Medved, we see astounding and undeniable examples of God stepping in when America seemed beyond hope.  However, these examples are not proof that judgement won’t come.  To assume this is sheer madness.

I want to use George Washington as an example of something that desperately needs to be said to the American church.  Washington died because of medical malpractice.  Back then doctors believed in bleeding sick patients.  Washington was already weak from his sickness—by taking blood out, the doctors made him weaker and finally killed him.  It was the worst thing they could have done.

Listen church!  Cheap grace is bleeding an already weakened church.   It helps set us up for national destruction.   For Satan, this the perfect theology.   Instead of a life-giving conviction and a robust will to fight—this perversion induces drowsiness and apathy.

Why do you think so any of our pastors are closet alcoholics and addicted to porn?  And what can you expect a poisoned vessel to preach on Sunday morning?

Past miracles don’t guarantee future mercy.  They should awaken urgency, overpowering gratitude, humility, and profound soul searching.  Throwing ourselves off the cliff of morality to prove the power of Grace tempts God and provokes wrath.

God is trying to show us the times and what to do: 1 Chronicles 12: 32 “of the sons of Issachar who understood the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” The entire chapter lists the military talent of each tribe of Israel.  This gift was Issachar’s weapon

Next, “prophets” who say America will be destroyed or who say America cannot be destroyed are dead wrong.  We are neither pardoned nor condemned.  Our fate has not yet been decided.

We are living in a moment of mercy: HOW SOON WE FORGET!  We were spared the horror of Hillary—the finishing touch of Obama’s death spiral—a permanently enslaving national debt—A Supreme Court chaining us to anti-God laws, freedom-killing environmentalism—open borders bringing perpetual Democratic control, crime and terrorism.

Trump’s election was a miracle meant to ignite the church.  His time is Washington will be short, ineffective and we will end up worse off than ever if the church fails to obey God.

Trump has had missteps as president.  This does not mean he was not the right choice.  We dare abandon him so soon!  He needs our prayers.  He needs our support.

Here are the precise verses for this hour:  Ezra 9:  8 “And now for a little while grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage. 9 For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage; but He extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to repair the house of our God, to rebuild its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.”

If, after all the mercy God has demonstrated—in a miraculous election—we fail to repent, rise and take our rightful place in America’s future…we can be destroyed.  Listen again to Ezra:

Ezra 9:13 “And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, since You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such deliverance as this, 14 should we again break Your commandments, and join in marriage with the people committing these abominations? Would You not be angry with us until You had consumed us, so that there would be no remnant or survivor?”

Wrath comes when you do not properly respond to mercy:  2 Chronicles 32: 25 “But Hezekiah did not repay according to the favor shown him, for his heart was lifted up; therefore, wrath was looming over him and over Judah and Jerusalem.”

Look again at Ezra’s words: but He extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to repair the house of our God, to rebuild its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.”

Trump is a temporary reprieve.  Now we must do our part.  We must act on the mercy we have been shown.  He extended mercy so that we would do three things: Revive, Repair and Rebuild.

Revive: God commands us to seek a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  We dare not have church without it!  We dare not utter another word in the pulpit that denies it!  The word of the Lord for this hour is: cry out to God with heart of gratitude for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Here is the key promise if we do: 1 Samuel 10: 6 Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. 7 And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do as the occasion demands; for God is with you.

Repair:  The pulpit and our moral compass is broken.  They must be repaired!  Our wiring, plumbing and foundations are damaged.  Abortion and marriage are issues we lost because our leadership was broken.  We abandoned the Bible and did not arm ourselves or the congregation with convictions.

America need Lions who roar from a righteous heart.  Away with secret sin and lukewarm grace.  Prayer will repair.  The voice that shakes hell and frees men and women from bondage is forged only in fervent prayer.  Satan does not respect your stage presence, education or tactics.  He knows a prayless poser.  He only retreats before men and women who have been to Gethsemane.

Rebuild: We must come home to the Glorious Gospel.  We must dismantle all the silly things we have tried to say to this generation.  Forget about rebranding!  We need to rebuild our sermons from the ground up.  Let them be replete with Bible Verses.  Let them talk of the mighty God.  Fill them with content the Holy Spirit can use on lost souls!  The Good News must once again roll off our tongue in the office, on campus and at the mall.

The consequences of cheapening God’s mercy are too terrible to imagine.  The opportunity this miracle has opened is too wonderful to ignore.  That is the word of the Lord for this hour.

A Fresh Baptism of the Holy Spirit

In this message we hear about power for this dark time–a fresh fire of the Holy Spirit so desperately needed by God’s people.

What do we do with the dire predictions of David Wilkerson?

By Mario Murillo

Charisma magazine dug up an old video of David Wilkerson on the old PTL show with Jim Bakker. They were startled by the pinpoint accuracy if David’s predictions.

Recently a well-known conservative blog found another dire prediction from David Wilkerson and posted this: A respected pastor, best-selling author and founder of a major ministry to teens predicts an imminent “earth-shattering calamity” centered in New York City that will spread to major urban areas across the country and around the world – part of what he sees as a judgment from God.

David Wilkerson, author of “The Cross and the Switchblade,” a book about his ministry to troubled New York street kids that was later made into a movie starring Pat Boone, tells readers of his blog this weekend that he is “compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message” about his prediction.

“An earth-shattering calamity is about to happen,” he writes. “It is going to be so frightening; we are all going to tremble – even the godliest among us.”

Wilkerson’s vision is of fires raging through New York City.

“It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires – such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago,” he explains. “There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting – including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?

“God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations,” claims Wilkerson. “He is destroying the secular foundations.”  Wilkerson urges everyone to stockpile a 30-day supply of food and other necessities to deal with the catastrophe he foresees.

“I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off,” Wilkerson concluded in his message. “I have unburdened my soul to you. Do with the message as you choose.”

A past vice president of the Southern Baptist Convention is hoping believers pay attention to Wilkerson’s message.

“I have known David Wilkerson for more than 25 years as well as many of his friends and associates,” said Pastor Wiley Drake. “He is a godly man and I believe he is listening to God. I encourage each Christian to read and heed what God is saying through our brother.”

Why have the prophetic warnings of David Wilkerson come to the forefront?   More to the point…what should we do with dire predictions?

Each believer is equipped with discernment.  All of us have access to wisdom.  I know that to reject David’s words simply because they are terrifying is a disaster in and of itself.  You should reject any voice that says you do not need to prepare for possible calamity.

I also know that God has promised a fire wall of protection around His remnant.  Therefore to live in fear or to go into hiding would be an unqualified tragedy.  Therefore you should reject every voice that denies the possibility of revival and restoration.

Even David Wilkerson said, “”God’s last-day church …will be even greater than that [the first-century church,] … mightier, stronger, and even GREATER revelation of Jesus. A greater unction from the Spirit than ever, GREATER EVEN THAN PENTECOST….As I see it, the gospel of Jesus Christ has not been fully preached in this generation!”

Here are three things you must realize:

1. America is being judged for ingratitude. When you take inventory of the sins of America this one gets overlooked but it is the one that ignited judgment.

foolishness

Look at these verses: Romans 2: 4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

Psalm 78 12 “Marvelous things He did in the sight of their fathers, In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. 13 He divided the sea and caused them to pass through; And He made the waters stand up like a heap. 14 In the daytime also He led them with the cloud, And all the night with a light of fire. 15 He split the rocks in the wilderness, And gave them drink in abundance like the depths. 16 He also brought streams out of the rock, And caused waters to run down like rivers. 17 But they sinned even more against Him.”

Verse 21 sums it up: “Therefore the Lord heard this and was furious; So a fire was kindled against Jacob, And anger also came up against Israel…”

How can you deny that America is being judged right now?  For seven years the White House has blasphemously shaken its fist at God daring Him to act.  In that time, we have not repented or even acknowledged our guilt.  Consider all that God has done for America…look at how we repaid Him.

It is utter foolishness for us not to prepare for the violent convulsions that come to any nation that burns the candle of their life for themselves and then blows the smoke in God’s face.

 2. Ask yourself: What is wrong with being prepared? If New York City does not burn I will be at the front of the line rejoicing. However, what is wrong with praying over the words of a true man of God.  What is wrong with checking our hearts to see if we are participating in things that have brought the wrath of God to America?  We have already seen shortages and breakdowns in our culture.  Some food stored is simple wisdom not gloom and doom.

3. You must drench yourself in prayer and ministry. Disasters and convulsions are coming…some are already here. Therefore your best move is to be actively engaged in supernatural warfare to win the lost and to heal the sick.  The glory of revival blunts the pain of persecution!  Pressing into intimacy with Jesus destroys fear and anxiety.

can

Seeking a strong anointing and passion to be a source of life to others will cause calamity to go around you.  Psalm 91: 5 “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come nigh unto you.”

Note: The verses talk about terror at night—arrows by day—pestilence that walks in darkness.  It does not say they won’t happen…it says they can go around you if you dwell in God and choose to be one of His anointed ones.

All of Jehovah’s children can minister, heal the sick, cast out devils and even raise the dead.  Chuck the notion that there are only elite vessels that have access to ministry.

Even David Wilkerson said the church would not limp to heaven in the last days: “God’s last-day church …will be even greater than that [the first-century church,] … mightier, stronger, and even GREATER revelation of Jesus. A greater unction from the Spirit than ever, GREATER EVEN THAN PENTECOST….As I see it, the gospel of Jesus Christ has not been fully preached in this generation!”
