BREAKING NEWS FROM MARIO MURILLO MINISTRIES

A trembling 19-year-old kid kneels by his bed in Santa Barbara and prays.  A pile of papers is on the floor beside him. They are why he prays so fervently.   This teenager will attempt to do what only attorneys should do.
He is filling out forms to become a ministry incorporated in California, and legally recognized by the IRS.  He is asking the Holy Spirit to direct each answer he places on those daunting legal forms.  Finally, he mails them.  And yeah, that was me.
It feels like a moment ago when I—still shaking with insecurity—dropped those forms into the mail box.  I remember choking back fear.  Had I just done something terribly wrong?  Had I opened myself up to federal prosecution?
Months passed.  Then there was a letter from the IRS. Have you ever gotten a letter that you were dying to open and yet terrified to open?  I stared at that envelope a long time.  It felt like a Christmas present from your worst enemy.
I took it somewhere private and slowly opened it.  I risked one eye.  I read it out loud.  We were approved by California and the Federal Government. Wow!  That was the beginning of Mario Murillo Ministries 50 years ago!
Thus began an astounding journey that can rival anything in the Book of Acts.  Nevertheless, through glory and storms  we stand today as a growing force for God.

This is cause for celebration and wow do we have the celebration for you.  July 4th through July 7th at New Life Church in Houston TX,  Mario Murillo Ministries will present a once-in-a-lifetime Spirit-filled Jubilee!  My special guests are Bill Johnson and Perry Stone.
I am proud and excited that these amazing vessels of God will join me to commemorate this historic milestone, and to launch a new era of signs and wonders evangelism.  There is no question the power of God will fall and new ministries will be born.  We will see an astonishing display of the power and glory of God.

Hold on, there is so much more.  Along with Bill Johnson and Perry Stone we will have the emerging voices of soul winning and revival:  Sean Smith, Brian Barcelona, and Isaiah Saldivar.  Not only that, Chris Burns will be leading worship in every session.
There is no doubt that you need to be there.  Even more important—because this Anniversary Celebration will fill up fast—you need to act now.  And get this…there is no charge for you and your group to attend.  However, you must register.  To register click on this link now.

REVIVAL IS TOTALLY AVAILABLE

I had an uncle who could walk 40 miles an hour.  There’s no way around it. Every time he told us how far he had to walk to school it got longer and longer until, by his late 90’s, he was telling his great grandchildren it was 40 miles.  And, he made it in an hour.

The same thing happens when some aging saints and revival historians recount past revivals.  Each time they tell stories of past revivals, they become more amazing, more perfect, and better than anything we see today.

They mean well, but they do inadvertent harm.  Revival suddenly looks impossible.  Instead of inspiring people seek an outpouring, people say, “what’s the use?”

The Bible says of Jesus, “a smoking flax He will not quench.” Those words mean something inexpressively wonderful to those who seek revival: God will fan to flame even the most unpromising, smoldering ember.

Let me put it another way: When you asked for revival from a pure motive, God said “yes.”  At that moment, God took you at your word and began the process.  The thing is most revivals die between the YES and the next step.   Because, what comes next is an act of obedience that offends the flesh.

Bill Johnson is a prime example of this.  He asked for revival, but when God said yes, Bill obeyed the next step.  When many people left Bethel Church in Redding, Bill kept obeying.  When the outpouring was misunderstood, Bill simply kept obeying.

Here’s a classic case of a mighty move of God aborted: Before the revival began he promised the evangelist they would move out of their church building to a neutral site if the move of God outgrew the church.

Not only did it outgrow the hall, it was rising to touch the entire region.  Stunning healings verified the word.  Then the pastor balked at moving the meeting…the real motive for having the meeting was to save the church from financial crisis.  It was over.

Revival is simple.  Notice I didn’t say easy—I said simple. Big difference.  You simply keep obeying in the face of every obstacle.

Simple obedience should not be confused with self-promoted revival.  Nothing is more hollow than people trying to force a meeting to be something it is not.  I know it sounds strange—given that fact that I am trying to impress upon you the availability of revival—but I think it better not to call it revival, no matter how good it is gets.

Better to have people everywhere coming and being set free and empowered and not call it anything than labeling it revival to convince people something is happening.

Revival is available.  God gives good gifts to His children.  It’s all about what you do after He says “yes.”

WE BETTER START TALKING TO EACH OTHER

We better start talking to each other

One of our regular donors wrote: “How could you go to Bethel in Redding?!  I can no longer support you” They withdrew  monthly support that helps me win souls.  Now, I will answer their question with a question.

How could I not go?  Bill Johnson is my closest brother.  I grew up with the Johnsons.  Earl Johnson was like my dad.  Earl gave me one of my very first revival meetings in 1970.

How could I not go?  When Mechelle and I were divorced and churches slammed the door in our faces, it was Bill who never wavered and stood with us until, our marriage was miraculously restored 11 years ago.

How could I not go?  I want to save America.  I stand before thousands of young students at the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry—students on fire and yearning to be used of God—students who are teachable.  We desperately need young soldiers to expand our outreaches, and they need an outlet for their fervor.  I would rather calm them down a little than to try to resurrect some cold, dead cynical student from a stuffy, skeptical, Christian College.

How could I not go?  Bethel is a growing force in the Body of Christ that cannot be dismissed.

Our nation is in the most dangerous condition I have seen in my lifetime.  Satan is raging through our culture with virtually unobstructed access to your children.  The church meanwhile is sidelined for stupid reasons.  The Holy Spirit is grieved that we cannot pool our considerable talents and resources to overwhelm the enemy.  Signs and wonders would flow on a dramatically higher level if national eldership flowed in humble unity.

Face to face meetings automatically dial down divisions—polarity declines wherever communication begins.

I could use debate skills to make a case for glaring doctrinal error in everybody from the Assemblies of God to Calvary Chapel.  If that statement offends you…look out!  The greatest heresy is to believe you have achieved doctrinal purity.

That everyone is off on some point of theology is no excuse for heresy—it is motivation for hope.  To correct error, let’s start with our own.  Jonathan Edwards said,” A true saint is suspicious on nothing more than his own heart.”

Not only that, much of what we hear comes from unreliable sources.   In other instances, words were said or written in a moment of excitement.   Perhaps, with brotherly and sisterly love the people we criticize  would tell us “I never said that,” or, “I am sorry, I’ll take that back. I should have said that better.”

There are many false teachers and false prophets roaming America.  That is a different matter.  They need to be exposed.  Sin needs to be exposed.  However, we will not rightly discern truth from error while we are painting with the broad brush of doctrinal paranoia.  I know you have seen the hilarious websites where “truth warriors” list everyone they think is a heretic.  Almost everyone is on that list and it grows daily.

Another big question is this: are we moved by anger rather than true discernment?  Did that former partner of ours let their feelings about Bethel supersede their love for lost souls?

It’s not just heresy hunters that are a threat.   Every preacher who grows more isolated from other leaders is also a threat.  Instead of talking to each other, preachers continue to throw red meat to their base.  This is why we are getting further away from each other.  The grace camp keeps getting more hyper.  The repentance camp keeps getting more judgmental.   The prosperity camp keeps getting more materialistic.  The seeker camp casts increasing doubt on the Bible to gain acceptance from the mainstream public.

Preaching your pet doctrine to the exclusion of all others helps to kill America.  Ignoring the rest of the Body as you expand your empire is a betrayal of Christ—no matter why you do it.

Bottom line:  If you are not alarmed by destruction of the presidency—If you do not see the iron-curtain of mind control ringing down on our colleges—If you do not see the killing fields of drug gangs expanding in our inner cities—If you are blind to the avalanche of immorality and perversion—If you cannot see that time is running out, or that business as usual means certain death…then, you my friend, are an enemy to revival and America.

We need to pray together.  We need to obey God together.  But first, we better start talking to each other…fast.
