Tré Goins-Phillips, who wrote an editorial for Faithwire entitled, “How you vote in November will not decide your salvation,” needs to be confronted.
I will provide the confrontation.
You should know that people often make a case for something that doesn’t actually exist. Take the title of this article, for example. How many of you have been telling people they are going to go to hell if they vote for Biden? My guess is, not many, if any. That is a writing tactic which is designed to distract you from the real intention of the piece.
You are supposed to react with, “My Goodness! Are people really saying that about going to hell?” No, they are not. But now you think there is a widespread problem for which Goins-Phillips will provide the solution. His is a position in search of facts. The truth is that this article introduces eternal damnation in order to create a false comparable: there’s not much difference between voting for Biden or Trump.
Especially, since your salvation is assured one way or another. The article misses the point entirely about why it is wrong for anyone who loves Jesus to vote for Biden: that it is simply not right.
This dastardly downplaying and manipulation of comparisons does a grave disservice to the church. That is because Goins-Phillips is heavily tilting toward “woke” rather than the Bible. Look at what he said:
“And it’s overwhelmingly clear that, although Scripture doesn’t explicitly name many of the issues voters are concerned about, the Bible—and Jesus—have a lot to say about the topics themselves: the value of human life, the importance of caring for the poor, the weight of justice, and the significance of loving your neighbor.”
He throws a bone to the stance conservative Christians take against abortion, in his reference to “value of human life.” The next three are all codes for leftist believers. But even in that he fails. Biden leads a movement that every Christian should find abhorrent. Let’s take stock of how Biden and Democrats handle the three remaining issues.
1.Caring for the poor. “Woke Christians” continually love to label Christians who support Trump as not caring for the poor. Yet, every city the Democrats control are hell holes and prisons of poverty. The Christian conservative wants a vibrant economy to lift people out of the Democrat plantations. You don’t end poverty by addicting people to government programs. You don’t give them the hope and the will to succeed that they need by continually convincing them they are victims. That is cruelty. You lift them out by creating a color-blind system of opportunity. Democrats have never and will never do that. And voting for them is a vote to keep these leftist gulags in business.
2. Weight of Justice: Clearly code for the anti-cop Black Lives Matter narrative and the campus social justice warriors. Never mind that black owned businesses have been burned and looted. Never mind that the incidents of police brutality, while vile and utterly inexcusable, are not the overwhelming cause of death in black neighborhoods. Black on black violence isn’t addressed because it exposes the true source of black misery in America: The Democrat Party and their corrupt elites control these killing fields.
3. Loving your neighbor. To love a neighbor, you have to love a neighborhood. Loving a neighborhood is not a photo-op by liberals acting out of white guilt. The weekend band-aids only make things worse.
Mario Murillo Ministries brings in food and clothing, but we know that is only a small part the answer. Inner city people need to see the power of God. They need deliverance and true conversion. They need churches that don’t perpetuate the store-front legalism. Rather, on-fire pastors who are called by God to work in these neighborhoods are the key. They need to get into the schools. They need to work with police. Who do you think opposes and locksdown these essential ministries? Leftist teacher’s unions and politicians. Clearly, you are not loving your neighbor by voting Democrat.
Then he says, “We should be wary of watering down the Word of God by believing—much less saying—the strength and veracity of a person’s Christian faith can be unquestionably extrapolated from how he or she votes in a few months.”
Tré Goins-Phillips’ editorial that began with the point that you won’t go to hell for voting for Biden has now evolved into the fact that how you vote isn’t a test of the veracity of your Christian faith. That is an entirely different point, and it is the real deception this article is designed to perpetrate.
Okay, let’s take that statement and time-travel it back to Germany when that nation was voting to install Hitler as Chancellor. Mein Kampf had been read by many, including Christians. The church knew exactly what Hitler was going to do. And yes, the Christian faith of every German could unquestionably be extrapolated from how they voted. That was the whole point of Detrick Bonhoeffer’s ministry.
He said: “Silence in the face of evil, is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”
You certainly will not go to hell for voting for Biden, but Bonhoeffer is right: God will not hold you guiltless. Goins-Phillips’ main point is that God will hold you guiltless.
China had one last election before tyranny took over, as did Russia, North Korea, and Iran. Elections have consequences. Votes matter.
The worst statement this writer made is the following: “Some of you may feel perfectly at home with team Trump, while others sense a camaraderie with the Biden camp.”
Camaraderie with late-term abortion? With ‘defund the police’? With looting and rioting? With men coming into restrooms with your young daughter? With drag-queen story hour? With same sex marriage? With a party that commits acts of terrorism, and then blames Donald Trump? With a party that has no idea how to run a country, so they say that Donald Trump is to blame for a 180,000 Covid deaths (when there have been 150K not 180K). Both Biden and Gore have threatened to use the military to oust the President from the Oval Office regardless of who is declared the winner of the election.
Camaraderie with atheism? Perhaps you didn’t know that the Democrat Party has made it a part of their platform to endorse and recruit atheists.
Ephesians 5:11 says, “And have no fellowship (camaraderie) with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.”

His final statement is precisely what is wrong with the American church and the “spirit” I am continually fighting: “Instead, spend time in prayer, read Scripture, and seek wise counsel from those you trust, and cast your ballots in November with the confidence that, regardless of who is sitting behind the Resolute desk in the Oval Office come January 2021, Jesus will still be on His throne and your citizenship in His Kingdom is irrevocable.”
Only a silly person thinks that Biden can dethrone Christ. Only an ignoramus is fretting that a wrong vote will put them in hell. The worst kind of Christian is the one that abuses the false narrative: “God is in control, I don’t need to worry, neither do I need to act.”
God limited Himself to prayer and intercession. He placed the fate of nations on the right choices of people. That’s why 2 Chronicles 7:14 begins with, “If my people.” We don’t need to pray for an ethereal sense of who to vote for. We need to see the handwriting on the wall. America under Biden is doomed. America in the hands of lawless God-hating leaders is a curse we will bring on ourselves.
And while you won’t go to hell for voting for Biden—if you help him win—your children and grandchildren will pay for your sin long after you are gone. No, it is not ‘okay’ for a Christian to vote for Biden.
This is a message to those who support Mario Murillo’s message to America.
