DID THE LEFT SOW THE SEEDS?

Has the angry left inadvertently sown the seeds of revival in California among an unlikely group?  Here’s is what is happening in our tent.

I cannot give you their names or show you a picture. For their safety. Some of them wept their way to Jesus sporting shaved heads and “Hitler” tattooed on the side of their head. But skin heads are not the only ones being saved. They are out of every race and background.

In our tent an average of 100 souls surrender to Jesus per night. But why is this one demographic coming to Christ in unusual numbers? Who are they? Are you ready?

They are young men. The trend began in our first tent crusade and grew more obvious in city after city. The left has targeted them, alienated them and in the process made them susceptible to Christ.

If you want to invoke the rage of the left just say something positive about young men—especially white young men. But their wrath is not just for them. Black young men are vilified.  If they think for themselves and do not mouth the mantra of the grievance movement.

Toxic masculinity is a favored excuse to exile young men. They are deliberately targeted for the sake of “progress” in our culture. Many of them wander aimlessly being shunned and stepped over in the leftist agenda.  Radical feminists ridicule them. Colleges persecute them. Cultural mores are stacked against them. Every mom who is raising a son today knows exactly what I am talking about.

Washington Post writer Christine Emba said it was sad that young men were finding hope in the lectures of Jordan Peterson. She even called the article The profound sadness of the Jordan Peterson phenomenon.

She said, “Peterson himself will tell you that serving as a father figure is his heaviest burden. Much of his work is dedicated to pushing a generation of confused youths to build character, put their lives in order, become adults. “I want to talk to you about how people exist in the world,” he told those in attendance last week. And that’s what this tour is all about. It is also what makes it profoundly depressing.

Peterson’s bestseller is a wordy self-help epistle for young men (it’s mostly men who follow him) in need of direction. Inside a cover invoking an old-school, gold- embossed Bible are lessons such as “Stand up straight with your shoulders back,” “Pursue what is meaningful (not what is expedient),” and “Tell the truth — or, at least, don’t lie.”

How can she find it “profoundly depressing” that young men are finding hope and direction?

The left’s message is undeniable: young men are an oppressive force. It doesn’t get any sicker than that.

Look at the pictures. The altars are filled with young men. Night after night it is the same. This attack on young men has inadvertently planted the seeds of revival in California. Will young men charge into the Kingdom and discover what it means to be a son of God and a man of God.  I know so!

At this hour, our tent is headed to Paradise California—a city destroyed by fire.  Some are saying it can’t be rebuilt. But I know better. I just had lunch with 50 Pastors and leaders from that community and they are amazing! Their determination is astounding!

It would be just like Jesus to give them beauty for ashes. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a community restored in heart and spirit before it is physically rebuilt.

They invited me here. I come as a servant not a celebrity. I am honored and humbled to work alongside them.

Please pray for these tent meetings. And please, if you know someone living near Paradise tell them about to come and witness the mighty power of God that will be under the tent every night.

Young men are indeed being systematically discarded in California. But that is a catalyst to revival. I know that as the tent travels south on Highway 99 we will see a snowball effect—an army of young men is being born. Psalm 118: 23 says, “This was the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.”

The Best Kind of Church

What is the best kind of church for this dark hour?  What kind of church transcends outward success and has true impact? What kind of church does not kill its pastor or crank out lukewarm believers?

Right now God is recruiting men and women to lead a new kind of congregation. He is asking for volunteers to build churches that can save America. He is offering you a glorious opportunity to build a storm proof, battle tested family of believers.   An army who will not just survive, they will thrive.

I am writing to the sincere, brokenhearted pastor and to the people who love that pastor. I want this to be a word that brings life, hope and direction. You will not hear this in any seminar on church growth. It is a radical departure from what you have been told.  But there is no doubt this will work.

1. Let go. Let go of the stress of human church growth models. Let go of the nasty people—both the pharisitic who criticizes all you do and the parasitic who sucks the life out leadership.  Let go of the pressure to please anyone but God.  Let go of the fear of finances. Let go of the fear of failure. Now what are you left with? You are in a complete state of joyous dependency on God.

2. Seek Jesus. I am absolutely telling you to break away and seek God. Don’t seek guidance. Don’t seek provision. Don’t seek growth. Just seek Jesus until He is more real than anything you fear.

David Wilkerson said this after Christ set him free from man made ministry: “Now, my greatest joy is waiting upon Him for direction. I have made time to be alone with Him, and have prepared my soul to abide in His quiet presence. He is letting me sense what the Spirit is saying to this generation. The more He empties me, the more He fills me with a desire to depend only on Him for everything. I see now that all along the Lord was waiting for me to lay down all my plans, all my ambitions, and be given over to Him as a bond slave. The sweat is now gone – the pressure is off. He is recreating all my values.”

3.Tell the people they are destroyers of the works of the devil. Does that sound oversimplified or strange? The fact is, this is the most lethal announcement Satan will ever hear in your church .

1 John 3: 8 tell us that Jesus was purpose driven: “for this purpose was the Son of God revealed that He might destroy the works of the devil.”  However, the purpose that drove Him was totally unlike what modern preachers love to talk about.  Jesus is a destroyer of the works of the devil.  Why is that important to note?

It shows the people the purpose that should drive them.  They are an extension of the purpose of Christ and not some freelance boring substitute. So much is said about being purpose driven. Here is the purpose!

If the people redefine themselves as destroyers of the works of the devil it will instantly transform your meetings. Gone is the harmless fellowship or self-help seminars. From this point on, church services are demonstrations of the power of God and training sessions for your people to go out and destroy the works of the devil.

Your people will cease to attend church to do time, or learn to tread water. They will expect miracles. That part is the key to reaching modern America.  If church becomes a center for Holy Spirit led signs and wonders. If the moving of the Spirit is free and balanced then outsiders will see undeniable proof of the power of Christ. That becomes the attraction.

Today we have been ushered into one of two extremes in church models. One is totally entertainment business model that runs like a machine. The other, sadly, is a model of reaction where declining attendance and religious defiance drives preachers to preach angry sermons and put increasing bondage on their dwindling numbers.

Church should attract but for the right reason. When the reason is right it, brings people who are hungry for truth, who need a miracle, who yearn for deliverance from addiction, perversion and all the damage of our sick and stupid culture.

Best of all they not only come—they stay. You don’t have to cater to their whims because they have met Christ and have been ruined by His glory.

4.Give the Holy Spirit actual and not symbolic control to make revival sustainable. Once you start growing and the crowds come, you will need wisdom from beyond this world to make it sustainable. Don’t violate the power that brought you this miracle by falling back into human wisdom and old habits. Determine to make your dependency on the Holy Spirit real not symbolic or mystical. The more you do this the clearer His guidance will become.

How can you not try this? If the possibility exists for a congregation that is excited, unselfish, supernatural and uniquely forged to save America why wouldn’t you be open? I pray you will!

Wait till you hear

How could one phone call bring so many amazing changes?  How could we have foreseen that way our lives would change after this phone call.

The call is from Miriam, a woman of God from Paradise California. She and her husband, an anesthesiologist, had something to ask me.

It had to do with the Camp Fire—the wildfire that wiped out Paradise, California.  19,000 buildings were destroyed including nearly 12,000 homes. But this couple prayed as the fire roared toward their home. The flames stopped right at their property line.

This is a map of the perimeter of the Camp Fire with the city limits of Paradise outlined. As you can see, Paradise was in the dead center of the blaze.

They were overcome by both gratitude and grief. They grieved for so many who had lost loved ones and who were now homeless. Because Miriam and her family were spared, they made a deep vow to God to use their house for His glory. Then she asked the question:

Will you pray about bringing the tent to Paradise?” How could she have known that my wife and I had been interceding for that very door to open. After we hung up, I began to pray and study the situation. Immediately, I was struck by the impossibility.

There were so many things blocking our way. For starters, the city was extremely wary of putting up a tent after such a devastating fire. Next, there was a matter of restoring the power grid in the city. Lastly, our schedule had no way to fit this outreach in.

While we were laying the ground work for Marysville, Mechelle and I took a trip to Paradise. 50 people met in Miriam’s home to pray and I shared the vision to bring the tent. I brushed aside the impossibility because with God all things are possible.

Afterwards we walked through the city and prayed. It is beyond my vocabulary to describe the devastation. It reminded me of pictures of the fire bombing of Dresden, Germany. There is simply no way to describe it.

Well, miracle upon miracle has opened the Red Sea once again. Hallelujah! We are going to Paradise and we are bringing an army of love with us. As I prayed, the Holy Spirit kept burning these words, “Beauty for Ashes.”

The news of our confirmation came on the morning of the final day in Marysville.  But my heart sank when I saw the weather. The temperature dropped ten degrees a strong wind and heavy rain would surely damage our attendance.

Instead, the biggest crowd of all packed the tent and were worshiping with total abandon.  The power and presence of God was so intense! This is what attendance looked like before starting time.

After a host of souls were saved and miracles rang out it was time to make the first public announcement about Paradise.  Get this…when I told them we were going to Paradise CA, they exploded with a jubilant, deafening cheer.

You see, many of the refugees from Paradise were in Marysville. The believers had been loving on them and caring for them. Now the same glory they had seen in Marysville was moving 45 minutes north to Paradise. What an amazing moment!

The Living Proof Paradise begins Thursday May 2 and goes until Sunday May 5. The tent site is the Terry Ashe Recreation Center 6626 Skyway Road, Paradise CA, 95969.

We are not out of the woods yet. We still have critical needs and we don’t have much time to meet those needs. We need prayer warriors to bombard the heavenlies starting right now—right after you finish reading this.

We need workers. The raw human need is overwhelming. About 30% of the victims of the fire had no insurance. Many are in trailers. Only God knows the heaviness in their hearts. I am putting out an appeal for workers to come from wherever God sends this blog. I have never felt such an urgency for help.  Do what Jesus says and let nothing hold you back.

THE LESSON

First of all, Mario Murillo Ministries is still a California Corporation and we are dedicated to seeing revival here.  However, to learn how the church lost her witness here demands brutal honesty.

15.8 million Californians claim to be Christian—more by far, than any other state in the union.  When California went abjectly hippie, communist, one has to wonder where were the Christians?   Let’s stipulate that only one third of all believers in California can vote.  According to statistics, that would still be 5.26 million people.

Gavin Newsom won a popular vote margin of  just under 2.9 million.  Why couldn’t the Church—with her vast store of congregants—come up with another 3 million votes to win the election?  If every Christian who could vote, voted for righteousness, they would have won by a landslide. There’s a bigger question:

Why did Christians vote for Gavin Newsom? He is even most hostile to our values than Jerry Brown was.  We know they did, because he could not win without their vote.  The church had the power—at every turn—to stop the liberal agenda in California.  Why didn’t she?

I know that judges overturned the will of the people with Prop 8.  I get that there are union crime families in California.  I realize that free speech is dying on the left coast.  I also know there is widespread voter fraud.  All of that considered, it still does not explain how such a vast voting bloc could be neutralized.

This is not a hatchet job on believers in the Golden State.  I have sacrificed a great part of my life for the churches there.  I don’t believe the fault lies with rank and file believers.  I also know there are many godly pastors faithfully serving on the West Coast.

No, this disaster crept in like a Trojan Horse.  I saw it firsthand and preached against it from the first day I saw it.  It was a masterstroke of Satan that began over 30 years ago.  When I tell you the culprit, a part of you will be shocked, and another part will recognize why I am right instantly.

The problem was the church growth movement.  More harm than you can possibly imagine came from the seemingly innocuous words “church growth movement.”  And, yes indeed it was a movement.

The initial victim was unity.  The next victim was soul winning.  The final victim was Bible literacy.  Here is how it worked:

When numbers mattered more than anything, California pastors began to see other pastors as the competition.  Hollywood, drugs, atheism, and sexual perversion were no longer the threat—now it was your brother in Christ.  Ministers became suspicious of one another, and began to isolate themselves citing their “big vision.”

Then, these regional pastors inadvertently created a new morality.  Sin was not the sin defined in scripture—sin was now anything that hindered growth.  By removing the offensive parts of the Bible, they also removed the parts that had the power to change people.

They steered clear of righteousness by saying “confrontational messages offend the very people we are trying to reach.”  This is code for “it is bad for business.”

To maximize growth, churches felt compelled to become self-contained entertainment centers, who didn’t need anyone else.  This destroyed mass evangelism, like what we saw with Billy Graham in neutral stadiums and auditoriums.  The photo below is from the Billy Graham Crusade in the Los Angeles coliseum in 1963.  120,000 are inside and 30,000 more could not get in.  This is unimaginable in Los Angeles today.

Soon California churches became expert at drawing audiences but leaving them unchanged by the Gospel.  Hundreds of thousands could belong to a church and see nothing wrong with abortion or gay marriage. Why?  Because their spiritual leader never talked about it.  Believers assumed that all of this was acceptable under the constant drumbeat of inclusiveness.

When the pastors noticed that the people loved their “nonreligious” appearance and behavior, they began to let down their guard.  The innocent wine and cocktails turned in a drinking habit.  Other dark trends that I will not mention became common among these leaders.  Thus, they were powerless to address the rampant immorality in their congregations.  They were also powerless to form a multi-church statewide voter movement.

Soon, Movie stars, pop stars, and famous athletes became status symbols for these churches.  Instead of the mega pastor discipling these celebrities, the celebrities discipled them.   It became impossible for these preachers to quote scripture, teach doctrine, or oppose liberal agendas.

Finally, taking a stand against left wing politicians became unloving.  Pastors escaped their duty by saying “that is not my calling.”  They took the Bible out of context in telling them that any political statements were judgmental.  Any Christian voter registration effort was downplayed or banned.

Soon Satan had tightened his noose and masses of Christians were oblivious to the warfare around them—most of all, they were ignorant of the ultimate price their children would have to pay for their doctrinal illiteracy.

The things these pastors preached gave no inkling of what believers were about to face.  Their child could be suspended for wearing a Christian t-shirt.  Their job in Silicon Valley could be lost if they testified on the job.  Textbooks that taught alternative sexual lifestyles were forced on their children.  The streets grew violent and the Universities became intolerant.  In short, these churches prepared their crowds for a world that doesn’t exist and did not stop the one that now exists.

California Christians—there is still hope!  The Christian history of California proves that great movements of God can come out of nowhere.  The Jesus movement appeared when a flood of immorality gripped the state.  God can do it again!  As I wrote recently, there is a secret about California that Satan viciously protects: Many in California are searching for God. We see it right now in Marysville where hundreds have been born again and the harvest demands we extend the meetings!

Nevertheless—it is simple truth:  the church growth movement was destructive.   Instead of building on the Rock—which would have given them a large church anyway—they built on sand.  The storm that Jesus warned us of has come.   They sent sheep out of their services unprotected and unable to withstand the storm of left-wing tyranny that  has set the state adrift in a sea of chaos.

Christians across America, take a lesson from California.  If the most popular churches in your state resemble the ones in this blog beware, the same crisis is already in your state.

Enters the glory

The experts are wrong about California youth.  Youth prove it every night in Marysville. Not only are they turning to Jesus, they do it understanding they will be persecuted. They know the price they’ll pay for turning to Jesus.
Ironically, I know that their persecution will not come from their own age group. It will come from certain educators, and other adults who want the agenda to continue. Still, they come forward and they receive new life.

Then they go and get their friends. Word is on the street that the power of God is flowing in the tent. The adult “influencers” aren’t there when youth talk among themselves. Who would have thought that Satan’s ageless tool of peer pressure would backfire. Youth are bringing youth to the tent.
I once wrote the blog “preparing the coming youth awakening.” In it I made this prediction:
Scientists predict hurricanes by measuring a very unhurricane looking condition—they detect low air pressure over the ocean.  In other words, they know violent air is coming because the air is so nonviolent.   Nature always rushes to fill a vacuum.

Universities are sowing the seeds of revival by spiritually starving students.  They are not creating lifelong atheists…they are creating a vacuum.  The push to invalidate the Gospel will not remove the need of the human soul.  In fact, suppression of spiritual desires can make those desires overwhelming.
There is no doubt in my mind that what I am witnessing in Marysville is a direct fulfillment of that prediction. But as much as I rejoice in the youth being saved there is something else happening here that is also explosive: Young people are seeing miracles for the first time and they are entering the GLORY that has flooded the tent.

Again tonight every seat is taken. The crowd has not taken a night off. After 4 straight nights more and more of the audience is youth. At a key moment, the Holy Spirit calls out a woman and gave words of knowledge about years of serious heart disease, joint disease, spinal disorder.  Her healing was stunning…but there is something going on that truly threatens Satan. Youth are watching undeniable proof of the power of God.
Here again, something Satan has done to our children backfires. They emotional emptiness makes them prime candidates for total commitment to Christ. Their hunger and joy seeing God move and feeling the intense presence of God leads them to enter the Glory of God without hesitation or unbelief.
Last year, I took a prayer out of Psalms and made it my own. Psalm 71:18 “Now also when I am old and gray headed, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.”  Tonight it came to pass in vivid detail.

I have not been able to sleep tonight because I know that something is unfolding here in Marysville that is so much bigger than I know and far beyond the jurisdiction of any one ministry.  A mighty locomotive has left the station. It may be impossible for me to predict what is going to come out of all of this.
As I write this at 1:30 AM, I am deep conviction. My prayer is “God please don’t let the hand of man come on this fragile but mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Never have I needed your prayers more and never have I seen this much for you and I to rejoice over. Stay tuned.

CLIMATIC SERVICE TONIGHT AT 7 PM 1104 “J” STREET MARYSVILLE CA

A new turn

She sat near the front with no inkling what was about to happen to her. The Holy Spirit revealed the two precise locations of her physical problems. But then the details became so stunning that it hit the audience. By the Spirit’s power, I told her she had been punched in her abdomen and the side of her head. The Holy Spirit said that her assault was covered up but it would be exposed. She was already scheduled to be in court to defend herself.
One of the local pastors very familiar with her entire situation followed up and learned that the damage to her eyesight has now vanished as well as the damage to her stomach. He also knows she will win her case.
Why am I telling you this? Simply because this was only one of a number of healings that happened in the tent on Monday night.  It was because of this, a buzz went out into the community. The result was that tonight was the biggest crowd yet. It was packed.

As I surveyed the crowd, my only concern was the fire marshal. Last week, I was told he was coming on Tuesday night. I assumed our Tuesday night attendance would dip from Sunday and Monday so I felt glad that he had picked Tuesday. Now, I was looking at a crowd that not was not only packed in…I couldn’t figure out how they all got in! This would be the worst night for him to show up.
Then the atmosphere changed into something we had not seen before. Youth were everywhere and God was doing a deep work in them. We thought we knew what God would do. Many had traveled from great distances to be healed. We were told people had flown in from Texas, New Jersey and Washington expecting miracles.
The sensation I am about to describe is not easy because I have never had it before. I could feel souls wanting Jesus. This hunger after God forced our regular program to go out the window.  It knew that as soon as I gave the appeal to come to Christ it would completely take over the meeting. But even then, I still didn’t get it right.
Some told me that over 150 people came to Christ. Others said even more. But, as always say, only God knows the real number. What I do know, is that I had to make an emergency move. We would not take an offering—we would not have a normal healing service—and, we would not ask the converts to go outside. There were just too many of them to move.

I told the people that the need of those who had come forward must take priority. I told them there are too many souls that want Jesus for us to go on with the meeting. I asked all of those who needed healing to put their hand on their heart. We began praying for mass miracles. I exhorted them that because they had sacrificed the regular healing time for the sake of new converts that God would intensify His power to heal them. And indeed, you could feel healing power surging in people’s bodies everywhere in the tent.
Pastor Jim Carpenter and the many well trained workers waded into the massive harvest and began praying for them, counselling them, and making sure they were cared for. The audience had received healing miracles like they had expected but they saw souls transformed in a way they did not expect.
What will happen tonight? Only God knows but it is clear that a youth movement is forming, miracles are falling and a revival spirit is spreading fast! Marysville has take a turn toward a major move of God.
The dream I saw of Highway 99 turning into a raging river of miracles has indeed started.

The Dream

The big question was…were we right to pour everything into California? Did we indeed hear from the Lord? For those who may not remember, five years ago, while preaching in Stockton, I had a vivid dream—the kind where you don’t know if you are awake or asleep.  I saw Highway 99 in California. I saw it from Red Bluff all the way to Southern California. This artery of the great central valley is special to God. In the dream I saw a river—Ezekiel’s river flowing with great healing properties, trees of righteousness on both banks. The voice in my dream said, “This is a corridor of glory.” I did not understand why I was getting this dream. It was hidden in the Spirit until just recently. It portends a miracle of a magnitude I can’t fathom.

Then in December of last year the Holy Spirit told me the dream was a mandate for me to go back to California and take our tent to key cities down this corridor.

We have no idea what kind of a crowd would come out to a tent. It was not just raining it was hailing! The enemy said that I would pay for a sentence I wrote about California—that there was a secret the left didn’t want anyone outside of here to know—that people here are hungry for Christ.

Every lie of the devil was crushed as we drove up. The crowd came early and they were excited. Before starting time we frantically added more chairs, until it was standing room only. The pictures do no show the people outside.

We have never seen an atmosphere more charged or electric. There was never a doubt that miracles would come. The only question was when.

They said Marysville was oppressed. They said that addiction and witchcraft had a firm grip on the people. They said that we would feel a heaviness here unlike anywhere else. They said a breakthrough would be near impossible. They were right about everything except the breakthrough.

Whatever principality blanketed the city with oppression was torn open by the worship team. Whatever demonic activity pervaded here came to a dead stop.

My message was called What you need. Here is a quick summation:

Matthew 4: 16 The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light,
And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death
Light has dawned.” Jesus went to the darkest place. Their story is one of endless misery for centuries.

What happened to them? What did Jesus do?

Luke 4:17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

What is good news to a poor person? The poorest people I know are rich. What is good news to the brokenhearted? Pills? Robin Williams had everything. What is good news to the captive, probation?  the blind another half-answer, the oppressed methadone?

Matthew 6:8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.” Only God knows what you really need.

Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

There is no more miserable orphan that those that know they have a father. Luke 15: 17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.”

What you need is to surrender your idea of happiness. You need to hear the knock at the door. Someone is trying to get in. Revelation 3: 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

This time let’s do it right. I want the real Christianity. I want the real miracle. I want to let it happen to me. Romans 12: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

At this, I told them to come and surrender to Christ. They came instantly. They came passionately. Leaders told me at least one hundred souls, others said way more.  The picture shows only half of those who came to Christ. Only God knows the actual number.

The night was crowned with undeniable healing miracles too numerous to do justice in this report. Again, only God knows how many miracles flowed under the tent. What we do know is that the Dream is now a reality.  We have heard from God and California will be visited!

P.S. Last night was not designated as a miracle service. That is tonight. That begs a question: If last night with all of its power was not the actual miracle service what is tonight going to be like?! MM
