Poll: Voters Trust Donald Trump to Keep America Safe; Favor Muslim Ban

Americans trust Donald Trump to keep America safe more than former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, despite repeated assertions from Democrats that she is one of the most qualified candidates for president in history.

A new poll from Morning Consult shows that 41 percent of Americans believed that Trump would do a better job of keeping the country safe while only 37 percent favored Hillary Clinton. (Twenty-two percent said they didn’t know or had no opinion).

Trump’s boost comes from Independent voters, as 38 percent say they trust Trump while only 26 percent favored Clinton.

The poll also shows that Americans support Trump’s proposal for a temporary ban on Muslims traveling to the United States. Forty-eight percent of those polled supported the idea while only 40 percent opposed it. (Eleven percent said they didn’t know or had no opinion)

The Morning Consult survey polled 2,001 voters from June 15-18 for a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.

Report: Illegal aliens committed nearly ten times more crimes than what Obama told congress

Report: Released Criminal Aliens Committed Nearly 10 Times More Crimes Than Obama Admin. Told Congress

The Obama Administration “grossly misrepresented” the number of crimes the criminal aliens it released from custody in FY 2014 subsequently committed by nearly tenfold, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) charges.

According to FAIR, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) records the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) obtained via a Freedom of Information Act (FIOA) request on FAIR’s behalf reveal that the 30,558 criminal aliens ICE released in FY 2014 committed 13,288 additional crimes.

The number of subsequent convictions contained in FIOA documents is far higher than the 1,423 additional offenses ICE reported to the House Judiciary Committee last July.

The criminal aliens released in FY 2014 who went on to commit those additional crimes had convictions for offenses like homicide, kidnapping, assault, sexual assault, and drunk driving. The new crimes, according to ICE’s report to Congress, included vehicular homicide, domestic violence, sexual assault, DUI, burglary and assault.

“Rather than end dangerous politically-driven policies that have put a total of 85,000 deportable criminal aliens back onto the streets in the last three years, ICE tried to hide them by providing grossly inaccurate information to Congress and the American people,” Dan Stein, the president of FAIR, said in statement.

In April, ICE revealed that it released an additional 19,723 criminal aliens —who had a total of 64,197 convictions among them including 101 homicide convictions, 216 kidnapping convictions, 320 sexual assault convictions, 1,728 assault convictions, and 12,307 driving under the influence of alcohol convictions — from custody in FY 2015.

In response to the FY 2015 numbers, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte warned that the Obama Administration’s immigration policies are creating “a sanctuary for tens of thousands of criminal aliens.”

“The American public has been misled by the enforcement priorities, deferred action, and executive action policies of this Administration, which categorize only certain so-called ‘serious’ criminal aliens as worthy of detention and then removal,” Goodlatte said in a statement. “Despite its rhetoric, the fact remains that the Obama Administration continues to willingly free dangerous criminal aliens, allowing them to continue to prey upon communities across the United States.”

National Review’s Unwise Trump Excommunication

By Laura Ingraham

National Review, in its issue dedicated to taking down GOP front-runner Donald Trump, has made a big mistake. With so much on the line for America, how is it smart to close the door to Trump’s voters and to populism in general?

The folks at NR launched a similar effort to excommunicate conservatives in 2003, with a much-hyped cover story titled “Unpatriotic Conservatives.” Back then it was Pat Buchanan and the now-deceased Bob Novak who were the targets. Former George W. Bush speechwriter David Frum, a dear friend, made the case that these men and others who stood against our invasion of Iraq, had “made common cause with the left-wing and Islamist antiwar movements.” In other words, these “disgruntled paleos,” weren’t truly conservative because they opposed the war in Iraq.

As it turned out, of course, that small band of thinkers knew more about what was in the national interest than anyone at National Review or myself, who was also a strong advocate for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

“I never received an apology note,” Buchanan told me on my radio show. “They’re Davos conservatives,” he added, referencing the annual meeting of the world’s elites in Switzerland.

Whatever you think of Trump personally, his supporters are pushing for three big things:

  • A return to traditional GOP law and order practices when it comes to illegal immigration.
  • A return to a more traditional GOP foreign policy that would put the national interest ahead of globalism.
  • A return to a more traditional GOP trade policy that would analyze trade deals from the perspective of the country as a whole and not blindly support any deal — even one negotiated by President Obama.

On each of these issues, Trump’s voters are calling for a return to policies that were GOP orthodoxy as recently as the late 1990s.

The matriarch of the conservative movement, Phyllis Schlafly, who likes but isn’t endorsing Trump, put it this way: “I’m not going to tell you that Donald Trump is perfect, or right on everything … but immigration is the top issue today, and he’s the one who made it a front-burner issue.”

By refusing to make room for these ideas within conservatism, NR risks creating the impression that the revolution brought about by George W. Bush — in particular, his belief in open borders, his effort to create a permanent U.S. military mission in the Middle East, and his notion that trade can never be regulated, no matter how unfair — is now a permanent part of conservatism that can never be questioned. They are also inviting those who disagree with Bush on those points to leave conservatism and start seeking their allies elsewhere.

This is an absolute disaster for conservatism. It is obvious by now that Bushism — however well-intentioned it may appear on paper — does not work for the average American. It is also clear that Bushism has almost no support within the rank and file of the GOP, much less within the country as a whole. Making the tenets of Bushism into an orthodoxy that conservatives cannot question will cripple conservatism for years to come.

National Review’s Manhattan-based editors brand Trump as a “menace to conservatism” and even ding him for his “outer-borough” accent. But who really is the menace — the rough-edged Queens native or the smooth-talking GOP Establishment that has brought us open borders; massive giveaway trade deals; monstrous debt; bank bailouts; and a sprawling government that never stops expanding? The failure to ruthlessly oppose and defeat such existential threats to the country — and the passivity in the face of such peril — is the real menace to the credibility of conservatism.

National Review Editor Rich Lowry and his people will be left preaching their narrow doctrine to a smaller and smaller audience.

If blue-collar Americans are told that their concerns on immigration, trade, and foreign policy cannot be addressed within the conservative movement, they will look elsewhere — just as they looked elsewhere in the late 1960s after they learned that their problems couldn’t be addressed within liberalism. National Review Editor Rich Lowry and his people will be left preaching their narrow doctrine to a smaller and smaller audience.

There is room for all voices in the GOP “big tent” — including relative newcomers like Trump, who has garnered such a following. That’s why I have an open door on my radio show to everyone from Marco Rubio to Ted Cruz. (We look forward to having Lowry on radio soon.)

Back in 2008, another populist was running for president, and ended up winning the Iowa caucuses. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who’s running again in 2016, sympathized with Trump in the NR dust-up. Recalling that the publication also took after him during his primary fight with Arizona Sen. John McCain, he said, “This is a fool-hearty effort … [by] the elitists who live in their own little bubble.”

NR is “completely out of touch … [and] represents big business, not the American people,” he added, noting NR’s support for the 5,500-page Trans-Pacific Partnership. “Out here in Iowa, they are not representative and their views are not representative.”

Of course there is ample room to criticize Trump’s approach and his lapse into sloganeering where substance is needed — as I have done on many occasions. But if NR rejects the Trump voters, it will be reversing the decision by Ronald Reagan, William F. Buckley, and others to welcome blue-collar voters, Democrats, and independents into the conservative fold. Whatever that means for the country, it will do major damage to conservatism. If the conservative movement devotes itself to defending the legacy of George W. Bush at all costs, it will become irrelevant to the debate over how to make things better for most Americans.

In the end, NR’s attempted hit-job on Trump won’t won’t matter much. Folks who like Trump will continue to like him. Those who don’t will feel reconfirmed in their views. One of the many reasons I loved Reagan is that he understood how important it was to grow the conservative movement.

“Conservatism,” Reagan biographer Craig Shirley said, “transcends any individual or organization, because it’s ultimately about the God-inspired belief that we are destined to be free.”

Hillary is going to be indicted

Hillary is going to be indicted

By Cathy Burke   |   Friday, 08 Jan 2016 04:39 PM

The FBI and intelligence community “would go ballistic” if there’s no indictment in the case of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s
A former U.S. Attorney predicts a Watergate-style showdown in the Department of Justice if Attorney General Loretta Lynch overrules a potential FBI recommendation to indict Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“The [FBI] has so much information about criminal conduct by her and her staff that there is no way that they walk away from this,” Joseph diGenova, formerly the District of Columbia’s U.S. Attorney, told Laura Ingraham in a Tuesday radio interview. “They are going to make a recommendation that people be charged and then Loretta Lynch is going to have the decision of a lifetime.

“I believe that the evidence that the FBI is compiling will be so compelling that, unless [Lynch] agrees to the charges, there will be a massive revolt inside the FBI, which she will not be able to survive as an attorney general. It will be like Watergate. It will be unbelievable.”

DiGenova is referring to the Watergate scandal’s “Saturday Night Massacre” Oct. 20, 1973, when President Richard Nixon sacked Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox and Attorney General Elliot Richardson and Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus resigned in protest.

DiGenova is well-sourced throughout the law enforcement community and his assessment has to be taken seriously. But interviews with other knowledgeable Washington insiders present a somewhat less concrete scenario developing around the former secretary of state.

At the center of Clinton’s difficulties is her use of a private email account and a home-brew server located in her New York home to conduct official business while serving as America’s chief diplomat between 2009 and 2013. Several of her closest aides also used the private server.

Clinton clearly didn’t abide by federal regulations requiring officials like her to use government computers and email accounts to conduct official business and take all of the necessary steps to preserve all such correspondence concerning official business.

watergate_montage_2

As first reported by The Daily Caller News Foundation, Clinton emailed Center for American Progress President Neera Tanden Sept. 7, 2010, asking for advice on what she, President Barack Obama and Democratic campaign officials should do to prevent a Republican victory in the upcoming congressional elections.
“Do you and CAP have any ideas as to how to change the dynamic before it’s too late? Losing the House would be a disaster in every way,” Clinton told Tanden. The CAP chief responded at length with clearly partisan recommendations, noted her supposedly non-partisan think tank’s polling efforts to identify winning themes for Democrats and described her conversations relaying her advice to Obama and other senior White House officials.

On its face, the Sept. 7 Clinton email appears to be a violation of the Hatch Act, which bars partisan political activities by officials using government property while on official duty. But Clinton found a clever way to get around the law, according to a senior non-profit official with extensive experience investigating such activities. The official spoke on condition of anonymity.

First, that official said, by not preserving her email records until after she resigned as secretary of state, Clinton avoided an investigation by the Office of Special Counsel (OSC), which handles Hatch Act violations. The reason is simple — OSC has no authority over former federal employees in Hatch Act matters.

Second, by refusing to comply “with Federal Records Act requirements to use an approved system for preserving records, [Clinton] arguably did not engage in political activities while on official duty or while using federal resources because she communicated with a personal computer,” the official said.

In other words, “had Secretary Clinton used a State Department e-mail address and a government computer and had Secretary Clinton complied with federal record-keeping and open government laws, [her] violations would have been discoverable under the Freedom of Information Act and could have been remedied while Secretary Clinton was still in office.”

Thus, don’t expect a Clinton indictment for a Hatch Act violation.

But Clinton is far from out of the woods, according to a congressional source who is deeply involved in the multiple investigations of Clinton.  This source, who also spoke only on condition of anonymity, pointed to the hundreds of Clinton emails that contained classified information.

“Her problem is the sheer volume of emails that were deemed classified,” said this source. “Her first defense was that she didn’t send any classified information in her emails. But that claim has been clearly rendered false because so many of the emails were later marked classified.” obama_hillary_cash-thumb

As the Department of State has released the Clinton emails she provided after leaving office, more than a thousand were marked classified after being reviewed prior to their public release. So what about Clinton’s subsequent distinction that she sent no information in her emails that was “marked classified” when it was sent?

“The volume matters because a reasonable person knows somebody like the Secretary of State, who is allowed herself to classify materials, who has handled it for 25 years or more, at some point the law says you are responsible for recognizing classified material when you see it. That gets to the negligence issue,” the issue said.

Negligence is critical because Clinton signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement in 2009 regarding classified information that stated, among much else, that “Sensitive Compartmented Information involves or derives from intelligence sources or methods that is classified or is involved in a classification determination …”

Clinton and several of her closest aides must have read information “derived from intelligence sources or methods” on a daily or near-daily basis.Benghazi Massacre Blog copy

There is an ominous sentence buried in that agreement Clinton signed: “Nothing in this agreement constitutes a waiver by the United States of the right to prosecute me for any statutory violations.”

What if Clinton is indicted for negligence in handling classified information? DiGenova predicts a showdown within a couple of months that will put Lynch in the same hot seat that prompted Nixon to fire Cox for getting too close to the truth about Watergate.

A Republican with direct knowledge of the investigation predicted political chaos if Lynch doesn’t decide to prosecute Clinton, a chaos that “would be the gift that keeps on giving right through the election.”

With or without resignations of FBI officials to protest such a decision, there would be a blizzard of news releases from congressional GOPers condemning Lynch, followed by hearings in which both the attorney general and FBI Director James Comey would be put under oath and asked about their actions.

2016: OUR LAST YEAR AS A FREE NATION?

IS THISWill 2016 be our last year as a free nation?  Will Obama revoke the next election and declare himself president for life?   Is God using him to punish us for our sins?  Will cities go up in flames of racial war?  Are the voices who pronounce doom speaking the word of God?

What was the first thing Jesus said when asked about the end of the world?  Matthew 24: 3, 4 says, “Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.”

Terrorism and the dictatorship of Obama are looming disasters.  But the threat of you being deceived–deceived by a false prophet is an equal disaster.   A tsunami of lies and human opinion—being pawned off as words from the Lord—is crashing into the church.   I am guessing that out of the current wave of “prophetic words” almost half are utterly false—generated by greed, anger, manipulation and arrogance.

The threat posed by false prophecy is greater than you know.  If you follow a false prophet you will experience misery beyond anything you could have thought possible.

Most of the readers of our blog are referred to us from Facebook.   In the last few days, Facebook has been a toxic waste dump site for every kind of half-baked, unscriptural prediction of 2016.   Without missing a beat—you will see juxtaposed—predictions of untold blessing and favor along with total doom.  We know that they both can’t be right.

So if you are ready for an honest-to-God conversation about 2016 then start by rejecting these two popular prophetic notions:

  1. America is blessed and no harm will come to her.
  2. America must be destroyed and there is nothing we can do about it.

No one in their right mind can possibly look at a holy God and tell him  we are incapable of being destroyed.   The nation of 70 million abortions—the leading exporter of porn—the nation that has erased God from every institution (including the church) cannot be destroyed?

We live in a cloud of misery and grief of our own making.   God did not pick Obama, Americans did.  The eyes of the average American are glazed over by despair and fatigue.  Our children feel old and have little or nothing to look forward to.   All of this is in direct proportion to our rejection of Christ.

Will Obama try to stay in office after 2017?  Of course he will.  The media will continue to  esteem him as president.  The liberal establishment has already proven they will follow him through the flames of perdition.  Obama thrives on setting aside the constitution and daring congress to stop him.

“But we will throw him out!”  I hear that a lot—but, if we were going to throw him out…wouldn’t we have done it after Benghazi and a thousand other impeachable offenses?

Obama has committed more crimes than all 43 previous presidents combined.   If the congress has not been able to impeach him after all of this…what makes you think they can force him out of office?

Yes, America can be destroyed.  Yes, this could very well be our last year as a free nation.

It is often said that you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.  The truth is that you knew what you had; you just never thought you would lose it.   Thinking we could never lose America is fastest way to lose America.

On the other hand…setting your hope on America’s destruction is insanity.  That Jehovah God has intervened—in American history when things look hopeless—is a centerpiece of our history.

I was just read again about the winter in Valley Forge where George Washington saw no way to hold the Continental army together.  His men were starving and freezing to death.  Farmers nearby wouldn’t feed the men who were fighting for their freedom.  The farmers could get a better price for their crop from the British.

And yet they did hold on and defeated the greatest military in the world.  In the depths of his despair Washington wrote to his friend about why he could hold the army together…He wrote  “ I knew that heaven was in our cause.”

Heaven is in the cause of every pastor who reads this and says “my church will host a true revival.”  Heaven is in the cause of every Christian who says “I will heed the warnings and obey the voice of God for there is yet one more miracle left for America.

The answer is clear:  2016 will not be our last year of freedom if the “people who know their God”  will truly humble themselves beneath the mighty hand of God.  He stands ready to release miracles beyond our comprehension…because heaven is in our cause.

Because of Trump

Because of Trump blob

I was 10 years old playing cops and robbers with my friends. My side kept losing.  I was tired of losing.  So, when an opponent pointed his toy pistol at me and yelled “bang, bang you’re dead” I decided there and then not be dead. We won because I discovered I was wearing a bullet proof vest.

Feminists, environmentalists, the liberal media, Barack, Hillary, the thought and speech police and even RINO’s have all taken shots at Trump and yelled ”bang, bang you’re dead.”   What they wanted was a corpse—what they got was rising poll numbers.

-One famous columnist wrote an article entitled Don Voyage after Trump criticized John McCain.

Don voyage

-Pundits were falling all over themselves to declare the Donald’s death after his tweet about Megyn Kelly.   One commentator said “Hurricane Trump blows away speech police.”

I cannot think of another time in American history where such a massive, collective bluff has been called.  By refusing to die, Trump is ending a reign of terror against free speech.  Statements that once ended careers can no longer do so.

Because of Trump, you can call illegal aliens, well, illegal.  Because of Trump, you can say that Mexico is treating us rotten.  Because of Trump, you can declare China and Russia enemies.  Because of Trump, you can say that the Iran deal is the stupidest agreement in history.

Because of Trump you can call the entire political class “a bunch of losers.”  You can even say openly that Hillary “is a liar and a criminal.”

Because of Trump, an entire frustrated and disenfranchised group of Americans now speak out and “ain’t nothing you can do about it.”

Bullies–the usual suspects–used to control the narrative. Obama, Biden, Holder, Pelosi, Reid, Clinton, Sharpton and NBC spun that proverbial web of deceit called POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.

P.C. provided cover for unbridled stupidity.   Common sense was held at bay by threats of being called racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, hater, and a host of other labels. Trump-and-Kelly

It seems like forever that we have been ordered to look the other way as America was being ravaged, bled and left for dead.

In retrospect, doesn’t it seem insane that we were told to shut up when illegals murdered innocent Americans?

Because of Trump, Blacks are breaking ranks with Democrats. The party ordered them to side with illegals.

Monday night, a black woman stood before a city council meeting in Huntington Park, California and blasted its members after someone made a comparison between illegal immigrants and black slaves.

The woman, identified as Chanell Temple, said she had not intended to speak at the meeting, but the comparison was too much. And because the council had just appointed two illegals to city commission positions, Temple let them have it:

“Please do not tarnish the name of black slaves by comparing them to your plight. There’s no comparison. None. Black slaves did not break into this country, okay. They were brought here against their will. Also, black slaves are not immigrants. Immigrants are people with a choice, they come here by choice. Black slaves didn’t have choice.

The woman continued saying that America has “been good to illegal immigrants” and can’t recall a single one that has ever been “hung from a tree.” She added, “My people commit a crime, they go to jail. You people commit a crime, they get amnesty.”  She later said, ” I am backing Donald Trump all the way!”

Chanell

Do not construe this blog as an endorsement of Trump for president.  On the other hand, make no mistake; Donald Trump can be elected president.  He is gaining support among independents, Blacks and Latinos.  Just a couple of months ago he was down 27 points in the polls to Hillary Clinton.  Now he is within 6 points.

Now for a personal note: I can finally confess something to you. As a Christian Evangelist, I have faced every kind of accusation you can imagine from both inside and outside the Church because I spoke out against Barrack Obama. I faced threats you cannot imagine.  I was told that my ministry was over.  Even close pastor friends closed their churches to me. One pastor in Indianapolis said that the anointing had left me.

The greatest lie was when they said that young people would no longer turn to Christ in my meetings.

Because I knew that I was speaking the truth, I refused to back down or apologize.

The result is that every threat proved to be a lie…especially the one about young people, because they are coming to Christ in droves. Through it all, I knew that Christ was with me, and His power intensified within me.

When I began these blogs all you could hear in the American pulpit about Barack Obama was crickets.  Now many are bold to speak out.  Now it is almost fashionable for pastors to take open positions on many issues that were considered off-limits.

What I have just said I have never said publicly.  I have never defended myself against critics or cowards nor will I start doing it now.

Trump is by no means a role model for preachers but I identify with him.  He called their bluff and beat them.  Because of Trump I finally felt free to tell you.

During the debate, Trump looked at the other nine candidates and said, “if it weren’t for me, we wouldn’t be talking about this now.”  I gave a knowing grin to the T.V. and said, “exactly.”

Why Donald Trump is not going to go way

It is important to reread this: 18 months ago few if any major Christian leaders said Trump had a chance to win.  Going totally against the grain, Mario Murillo wrote this piece that explained why Trump was not going to go away.

Why Donald Trump is not going to go way

By Mario Murillo

There is a segment of the population that has been ridiculed, rebuked and ordered to shut up for so long that the media literally forgot they existed.  For as long as I can remember, just calling someone racist, homophobic, jingoistic or elitist was enough to end their political career.

The reign of terror is over.  The reign ended when they delivered their famous knockout punch and the Donald didn’t flinch.  He called the media’s bluff.

Now before you take this as an endorsement of Donald Trump let me explain my real intention.  I want to show you that Donald Trump is modeling a lesson that the American church desperately needs to learn.

Here are 4 big reasons why Trump is not going away:

1. He never called all Mexicans rapists and murderers. The forgotten millions who live in America and play by the rules and pay taxes know exactly what Trump said.  No amount of spin will stop people from supporting him because they hear a message that is clear, common sense and in touch with what is really happening.

The media is suddenly no longer the frowning image on the big screen but the little man behind the curtain spinning the wheels.  It turns out that the wizard of Oz (the media) is puny and vulnerable.

adult-illegal-immigrants

2.There is an illegal alien crime wave going on and the liberals accidentally leaked it.  They tried desperately to hide the truth but it came out from one of their own.  Over one million illegals have committed crimes in the U.S.

report issued by the liberal Migration Policy Institute (MPI) further shreds Chuck Todd’s assertion on NBC’s “Meet The Press” last Sunday that he and his staff, “couldn’t find a single study that links violent crime and immigration.”  (See Brietbart news report this in the article beneath this one)

3. Mexico is a corrupt government that is dumping its criminals into the United States.

No rational person believes that the billionaire drug lord El Chapo escaped prison without help from the Mexican Government.

Not only this, but Mexico is deliberately dumping its criminal element on the American public.   Millions upon millions of Americans know this and they have had enough.

Trump, has put a voice to what millions have been thinking, but were afraid to say it.  He has not only said it, he has survived saying it.  That changes everything.

He has called the media’s bluff and they are folding.  None of the tactics, which the media uses to silence candidates, work on Trump. He says what he thinks and the polls keep rising in his favor.

Finally, don’t believe the lie that the Latinos will vote unanimously against Trump.  The Latino community is diverse.  There are many who came here legally.  They know the thugs and they do not want them here either.

But it was Obama with his disgusting non reaction— the pathetic complicity of the media to Obama– to the murder of  Kate Steinle, by an illegal who was deported several times that guaranteesTrump a vast following.

silence

Trey Gowdy said “the president said that he saw Trayvon — in Trayvon Martin, he saw his son. Well, I can tell you, those of us who have daughters, saw our daughters in Kate Steinle. And he’s got two of them too, so at a minimum, he ought to pick up the phone and tell the Steinle family that ‘I grieve for you.’”  Obama did not do this and galvanized the vast radical middle of America against illegal immigration.

Trump is teaching us a lesson about how to preach the Gospel in this corrupt and vicious environment.  Tell the truth in love.  If the audience doesn’t want to admit that it is said in love, so be it.   We need to call Satan’s bluff and move forward a vast audience is waiting to hear from the church.

Here is a related story:

A report issued by the liberal Migration Policy Institute (MPI) further shreds Chuck Todd’s assertion on NBC’s “Meet The Press” last Sunday that he and his staff, “couldn’t find a single study that links violent crime and immigration.”

Tucked inside a report about President Obama’s new amnesty is the estimation from this liberal think tank there are 820,000 illegal aliens in the United States with criminal convictions, including 690,000 illegal aliens currently residing on U.S. soil who have been convicted of a felony or “serious” misdemeanor.

The 820,000 figure is not an estimation of total crimes committed by illegal immigrants—which would be a much higher number—but only those illegal aliens successfully identified, arrested, tried, and convicted.

Combined with other statistical data points, however, the 820,000 figure gives us a way to examine the scope of total illegal alien crime. Even conservative assumptions produce harrowing conclusions, and demonstrate that there are likely millions of American victims of illegal alien predators.

First, the appendix in MPI’s report explains that it reached the 820,000 figure by “assuming unauthorized immigrants and lawful noncitizen immigrants commit crimes at the same rates.” While millions of Americans have been victimized by aliens with visas—the U.S. issues the majority of its visas to either unstable, poor, or violent countries.

MPI’s assumption is still overly-generous. The mere fact that illegal aliens are more likely to be young and male than aliens in general makes the assumption flawed. The true population of criminally-convicted illegals is almost certainly quite a bit higher.

But this still provides only a fractional snapshot of the total population of criminal illegal aliens. MPI’s estimation covers only those individuals caught, arrested, tried and convicted. But millions of crimes are committed that never result in a conviction.

For instance, less than half (48.9 percent) of violent felony arrests in New York City result in a conviction and sentence, according to a report from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. The national “clearance rate” for homicides is 64.1 percent—meaning less than 2 in 3 murder cases results in the suspect even being arrested, let alone convicted. In Washington D.C., according to police data analyzed by The Washington Post, only 1 in 3 homicides results in a conviction.

What this means is that for the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who have been found, caught, tried, and convicted, there are hundreds of thousands more illegal alien offenders on the loose who have never been successfully identified or convicted. This latter point is also important because it is the policy of the administration and Sanctuary Cities to free criminal aliens if convictions aren’t obtained—giving them ample opportunity to continued their crime spree. Of course, tens of thousands with convictions are freed as well.

The task of getting a conviction has only grown more difficult over time. AsThe Washington Times reports, “The national homicide “clearance rate” — that is, local police identifying and arresting killers — has slipped to 64.1 percent from more than 90 percent just 50 years ago.” The Washington Times explains that this marked decline is attributable in part to “higher closure standards and more crimes being committed by gangs and drug dealers who may have no local footprint and/or encourage ‘no snitch’ mentality.”

The liberal-leaning National Public Radio explains that this is especially true for crimes committed in communities likely impacted by immigration: “Since at least the 1980s, police have complained about a growing ‘no snitch’ culture, especially in minority communities. They say the reluctance of potential witnesses makes it hard to identify suspects.”

Low crime-to-conviction rates in general are likely greatly exaggerated for certain crimes committed by immigrants and especially illegal immigrants. Illegal lawbreakers not only have an extra incentive to flee to avoid trial in order to avoid deportation if convicted, but also can more easily do so. It stands to reason that a citizen charged with breaking into a car is less likely to flee the country than an illegal alien charged with the same. Many illegals also flee immediately, long before anyone comes looking for them.

As acclaimed Manhattan Institute scholar Heather Mac Donald has documented,  “In Los Angeles, 95 percent of all outstanding warrants for homicide (which total 1,200 to 1,500) target illegal aliens. Up to two-thirds of all fugitive felony warrants (17,000) are for illegal aliens.”

This suggests that the enormous number of convictions for illegal aliens only points to a vastly larger number of alien criminals who evaded conviction any one of ways including fleeing the jurisdiction, fleeing the country or being shielded by large transnational gangs like MS-13.

Most Wanted Lists across the country point to the number of extremely violent and serious crimes where the immigrant perpetrator is at large. Moreover, the number of crimes per criminal is greater than 1. For instance, GAO found an average of 7 arrests per incarcerated alien. All told, this means there are certainly millions of Americans who are the victims of criminal acts by illegal aliens. Each and every one of these crimes could have been prevented had our laws been enforced.

Some federal lawmakers, however, have moved to eliminate those laws altogether. Under the Gang of Eight plan, introduced by Senators Rubio and Schumer, large numbers of criminal aliens would be made into U.S. citizens.  As ICE Council President Chris Crane explained:

Senator Rubio left unchanged legislative provisions that he himself admitted to us in private were detrimental, flawed and must be changed. Legislation written behind closed doors by handpicked special interest groups which put their political agendas and financial gains before sound and effective law and the welfare and safety of the American public. As a result, the 1,200 page substitute bill before the Senate will provide instant legalization and a path to citizenship to gang members and other dangerous criminal aliens, and handcuff ICE officers from enforcing immigration laws in the future. It provides no means of effectively enforcing visa overstays which account for almost half of the nation’s illegal immigration crisis.

The Gang of Eight bill would also have tripled the number of green cards given to mostly poor immigrants from around the world, including the Middle East.

The tally of illegal immigrant crime does not measure the total number of crimes committed by immigrants. There are an additional 30-plus million immigrants in the country with visas, green cards or naturalization papers. These immigrants mostly arrived as part of the Ted Kennedy-backed 1965 immigration law, which offered up tens of millions of American visas to people from the world’s poorest and least developed nations. Crimes committed by individuals with a Kennedy-created visa would be in addition to crimes committed by immigrants without visas. The top countries of origin for both aliens with visas and aliens without visas tend to be the same.

For instance, the Islamic terrorist who murdered the Marines in Chattanooga was here as part of this ever-increasing production of visas: Mohammad Abdulazeez was given a visa to come to the United States and then later handed citizenship documents before slaying five heroes in cold blood.

Finally, as Heather MacDonald observed, the children of immigrants commit crimes at higher rates: “between the foreign-born generation and their American children, the incarceration rate of Mexican-Americans jumps more than eightfold” causing her to observe: “unless we can prevent immigrants from having children, a high level of immigration translates to increased levels of crime.”
