Do this one thing and you will not fear the New Year.

New Year blog

Do this now and you will not fear the New Year.

You must do one thing today. If you do it, you will not fear the New Year–guaranteed.

However, don’t fool yourself.  2016 looks dangerous and the last thing you need is Pollyanna advice.  So start by separating the wheat from the chaff.

On one hand, it would be a terrible mistake for you to sit back and let 2016 happen because you feel spiritually entitled.  Don’t abuse the phrase “it’s all in God’s hands” to justify inaction.  When something is truly in God’s hands, He speaks and directs.  To ignore that direction is to wrest your safety back from God’s hand.

On the other hand, it is worse to fear the New Year so deeply that you over plan and leave no room for God to work.

So what is the one thing that we must do?  For the truth that I am about to relate to stick, you must first see the towering importance of this simple statement:  There is nothing more important to you and those you love than victory over a specific contamination that comes at us from American culture.   That contamination is that we live in a culture of liars.

Lying, cheating and deceiving for the “greater good” is now so deeply ingrained in our culture that an entire generation may not know what an unselfish motive looks like.

Nothing has ruined us more both inside and outside the church than our hidden agendas.  We assume that the voices we hear today are lying: civil rights leaders do not care about black people, feminists do not care about women and ministers do not care about the Word of God.  They say they care but we know when they do not.

Lying is the virus and cynicism is the sickness.   Cynicism places our emotions under a wicked siege of distrust, defensiveness and dread.  It puts us into a whirlpool of stress and confusion until our mind spins and our body shuts down.   What good are we to anyone in this condition?

The one thing that you must do is to find your golden motive.  There is no treasure that we seek both as individuals and a nation that is more precious than a right motive.

It is time for a fresh definition of FAITH:   Faith is now the supernatural conviction that if I have a pure heart in a time when a pure heart is deemed to be a grave handicap, God will reward me in all areas of my life.

I located hundreds of benefits of a pure heart in the Bible.  There is not a single area of our lives that will not be blessed by having a golden motive. I saw where it heals our body, pays our bills, causes disaster to go around us, grants wisdom for the most complicated problems and even makes our enemies to be at peace with us.

With so many clear promises in the Bible for those who have a pure heart it was hard to find just one that really drove the point home.  Here is my choice:

Psalm 24:3 “Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.”

Men and women of God hear these words: “These free men will serve God and mankind from motives too high to be understood by the rank and file of religious retainers who today shuttle in and out of the sanctuary.  The will make no decisions out of fear, take no course out of a desire to please, accept no service for financial considerations, perform no religious act out of mere custom; nor will they allow themselves to be influenced by the love of publicity or the desire for reputation.” – A.W. Tozer

The greatest armor you will wear against evil in the New Year is your motive going into the New Year.  If you charge forward determined to live truthfully in an age of liars, God will overtake you with wisdom, safety, favor and abundance.   It is simple:  God will grant you great things because you can be trusted with great things.   HAPPY NEW YEAR!

A TERRIFYING YEAR — YET THERE’S HOPE

 On the Money

A TERRIFYING YEAR — YET THERE’S HOPE

By Ben Stein

Away from the White House and Justice Department, America has been doing great things.

Christmas 2014
This has been a terrifying year. Unspeakable brutality by Islamist terrorists in the Middle East and in Africa. A level of barbarity towards the innocent that would have made Eichmann envious. A world that in large measure kowtows to the most violent and bloodthirsty and turns on the most innocent and law-abiding (think Hamas vs. Israel). In this year, no one demonstrated in the streets of Europe’s capitals against Islamists who murdered children by the thousands but did protest screamingly against the major guardians of law and decency in the world, the USA and Israel.

In this year, man’s essential mean-spiritedness ran riot, with fanatics of various stripes and Islamists brutalizing universities either physically or by the essential evil of their tortured so-called “thoughts.” This was at prestige universities in the United States. indonesianislamists

In 2014, the President and the Attorney-General, both men of color, sought to awaken the demons of racism for votes. That was not “just politics.” That was something like sedition from on high. People are fragile on the subject of race. To have the most exalted in the land stir up fear and anger about race over highly dubious claims of racism was in fact wildly dangerous racism in and of itself.

To see the “black power” flags run up on Pennsylvania Avenue by the mightiest of the mighty was a distressing spectacle. It got the GOP overwhelming control of Congress. I am sure it will get the GOP the White House if it continues, for even Hillary is not inevitable if the Democrat party makes itself the party of anti-white racist feeling.

Is America racist? Well, Americans are people. People dislike other people pushing them around. Black people do not like being pushed around and white people do not like being pushed around. That is not racism. That is basic humanity. Nations get into trouble when one sector pushes another sector around for grievances that were once horribly real, but no longer are.

Civil rights activist Al Sharpton speaks at the National Action Network in Harlem, New York
In other words, until Mr. Obama came along to capitalize on racial feelings, poll data showed Americans feeling pretty good about race relations. Now, Americans are fearful and anxious about race. This is a colossal step backwards. This is what happens when the President is beholden to extremists and agitators and must dance to the tune they call about race-baiting. I totally see how it came about. But it’s time to walk back. Time, high time, to back down from that race-baiting cliff.

In other words, when the President of the United States listens to Al Sharpton and takes him seriously, we are in a lot of trouble. We are a glorious, God-centered nation. We can rise above racial antagonisms. We have done it in the past. We can do it in the future, if, if, if politicians can step back from mortgaging America’s future to win votes. A big “if”…

So my gloomy thoughts run on this glorious Christmas in Rancho Mirage, with the stars painting the night sky behind my palm trees.

But I also have seen great things this year. My job is, in large part, to speak at events, often business-related events. And here I see magnificent things happening. I see auto dealers who have completely changed the way selling and financing and servicing of cars works. A business notorious for sharp practice is now a business people trust and love. It is fun to buy a car.

I have seen the tenacious oil people, who fought like warriors to drill—and now they have brought cheap gasoline to America—at huge cost to themselves. When you fill your tank for roughly two-thirds of what it would have cost a year ago, it’s no thanks to the government. No thanks to Hollywood. It is thanks to those oilmen whom the government loves to criticize and lambaste.gas-price

But the most surprising and impressive people I saw were the finance people. Cursed and double-cursed by the media, they have wrought miracles. In health care especially, they have financed breakthroughs in diagnosis and cures for disease, in management of pain, in making the lives of us humans longer, more pleasant, and pain-free. It is an inspiring sight to see a room filled with the best and brightest of our young people and middle-aged people, men and women of all races, seeking to find the best medicines and diagnostic tools and anodynes to keep the world’s people’s lives brighter.

Yes, they do it for money. That’s fine. That is a perfectly good motive. But they do it, and the meds get in the pipeline and heart disease and tumors get diagnosed early. This is what finance should be.

I have seen America working together for a better life for the whole world, the intelligence and money coming out of finance and into the hearts and bloodstreams of Earth’s people. It is an inspiring sight. On TV and on the campuses, people look for trouble and ways to cause pain. In the venture capital and private equity firms, without fanfare, without the mainstream media, lives are being made better. And if profits come, they pay for the retirements of firefighters and police and elementary school teachers. Capitalism is working beautifully. If we can keep the wolves of envy away from the door, man’s world will be sunnier.

Biggest transfer of wealth in history coming soon?

As oil prices plunge, wide-ranging effects for consumers and the global economy

By Steven Mufson December 1 at 9:26 PM

Tumbling oil prices are draining hundreds of billions of dollars from the coffers of oil-rich exporters and oil companies and injecting a much-needed boost for ailing economies in Europe and Japan — and for American consumers at the start of the peak shopping season.

The result could be one of the biggest transfers of wealth in history, potentially reshaping everything from talks over Iran’s nuclear program to the Federal Reserve’s policies to further rejuvenate the U.S. economy.

The price of oil has declined about 40 percent since its peak in mid-June and plunged last week after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries voted to continue to pump at the same rate. That continued a trend driven by a weak global economy and expanding U.S. domestic energy supplies.

The question facing investors, companies and policymakers is how low oil prices will go — and for how long. Every day, American motorists are saving $630 million on gasoline compared with what they paid at June prices, and they would get a $230 billion windfall if prices were to stay this low for a year. The vast majority of that will flow into the economy, with lower-income households living on tight budgets likely to use money not otherwise spent on gas to buy groceries, clothing and other staples.

On Monday, the average U.S. price for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline was $2.77, according to AAA, which projects that prices could drop by an additional 10 to 20 cents.
(The Washington Post)
Big American companies are better off, too. Every penny the price of jet fuel declines means savings of $40 million for Delta Air Lines, the company’s chief executive said in a recent CBS interview.

“Despite the impressive recent gains in natural gas and crude oil production, the U.S. still is a net importer of energy,” William C. Dudley, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, said Monday at Bernard Baruch College. “As a result, falling energy prices are beneficial for our economy and should be a strong spur to consumer spending.”
Although falling oil prices lower inflation, the Federal Reserve tends to view that as a fleeting effect that would not alter its underlying judgments about policy. Nonetheless, Dudley said, “the slump in oil prices may also help to persuade” the European and Japanese central banks to implement further monetary easing as prices remain subdued.

The consequences of the decline in oil prices are also evident in politics and pocketbooks.

At current prices, the annual revenue of OPEC members would shrink by $590 billion, money that will instead stay within the borders of the world’s biggest oil importers, led by the United States, China and Japan.

The size of the global economy will “easily be between 0.5 percent and 1.0 percent higher as a result of the decline in oil prices,” wrote Andrew Kenningham, senior global economist for London-based Capital Economics.

The 40 percent drop in the price of the international benchmark Brent-grade crude oil over the past five months will reduce annual revenue to oil producers worldwide by a whopping $1.5 trillion.

“Those losses are staggering,” Edward Yardeni, president of Yardeni Research, wrote to investors Monday.

The losers include Russia, where the value of the ruble has been crumbling, inflation has crept up to more than an 8 percent rate and oil prices have done more to hurt the economy than Western sanctions.

In Iran, whose economy and government budget rely heavily on oil sales, low prices could intensify the effect of sanctions that have curbed the country’s oil exports in an effort to pressure the regime into reaching a diplomatic accord on its nuclear program.

What do you do when you feel called to do something big but you do not have the resources to do it?

bigGod has called you to do something great but you do not have the resources to do it.  What do you do?  Should you give up your passion and settle for an affordable vision?

This is the twilight zone.  You stand between the natural and the supernatural and you have to make a choice.  Don’t feel bad, very single vessel of God that was ever used of God has been here and has had to face the same agonizing question:  “Will I operate on human power or God’s power?”

In Genesis 16:2 we see the origin of most of the wars in history: “So Sarai said to Abram, ‘See now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.’ And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai.”  Because they saw no way for God to live up to His promise of a son, they took matters into their own hands.  What a disaster!

Yet, I witness this same sin being committed by many today who are trying to make God’s will happen.

Choosing to surrender to the supernatural is the hardest choice you will ever make especially at this time!  Demonic power has risen to a new level.  Americans have hardened their hearts to truth.  The church has stopped investing in souls.  This is truly a dark time for fresh vision.

youth revival

Where do I stand on the question of the supernatural?   For me there is no question.

Let me put it this way…there is unprecedented hatred toward Christian movements outside the church and massive unbelief about new movements within the church.  Therefore, this is the perfect time for you to start a movement!

Like never before, God is calling people to live in the impossible.  The times demand it, the shortness of time requires it and the fact is…nothing else will get the job done now.

In other words, you never really had a choice. Miracle provision is no longer the wispy aspiration of spooky seers.  We are now in a situation where every day and in every way we must have miracles and we must know how to draw on invisible resources.

How do you get from where you are to a life of daily miracles?

1. Realize that you are already supernatural. Paul’s rebuke to the Galatians is clear: “Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?” –Galatians 3:3.

It is not a matter of starting a new life in the supernatural but retracing your steps to see at what point you began to take matters into your own hands.  You can’t help but make a painful discovery: You saw miracles, you saw God provide but when it was all over you reverted to human ways of living.

A good way to fix this is through worship.  Raise your heart and hands and say “Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”- Psalm 103:1-5

This is when it hits you: God has kept me through astonishing storms.  I am supernatural.

Federal Heights shots 008

2. Dare to make decisions based on what God has said to you and not on human reasoning. From this point on, make decisions that will grate against your flesh and conventional rationale.

Proverbs 3:5-10 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.

9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.”

3Endure the dark night of the soul. No supernatural provision ever came without a test. It always involves waiting.  Once you have hung your hopes on a miracle you must endure the gap time between promise and fulfillment.

They say that when God closes one door He opens another…but I say that it can be hell in the hallway!  Now you must remember who you are trusting.  Remember His character.  He is all powerful and utterly trustworthy.

What do you do in the meantime?  The best advice comes from Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”

Abraham couldn’t wait, King Saul couldn’t wait and the results were devastating.  You can make a different choice and do it by seizing the promise that God will strengthen your heart as you wait.

The most important result of waiting for heaven’s provision is that you will build a track record of miracles that will weaken the enemy’s future attacks.

Finally, the world needs what God has put within you.  It needs it now. Miracle based believers are the weapon of choice in this hour.

Taking back the years that Satan Stole from You

greatest country in the world

One of the most popular videos on youtube is a slice from the television show Newsroom.   It shows a televised panel of “experts” in front of college students where a liberal is on the left, a conservative is on the right and a news anchor is in the middle.

The moderator asks them “Is America the greatest country in the world?” Freedom and opportunity are then cited as reasons why we are the greatest nation on earth by both the left and the right to mild cheers from the audience.  The news anchor noticeably silent is pressed to offer his view.  He shouts, “We are not the greatest country in the world.  There is no evidence to support the statement that we are the greatest country in the world.”  The audience gasps.

He proceeds to spout statistics of how far we have fallen behind other nations. He ends his rant with “we didn’t use to scare so easily, we built amazing things, we had leaders that created laws based on morals.”  This scene is called the most honest 3 minutes on television.

The news anchor ends with these words says: “the first step to solving a problem is to recognize that there is a problem.”

The feeling that our best days are behind us is a national anxiety. A growing segment of our nation is binging on drugs to bury their fears. Our children feel that our government robbed their future.  Dreams are held in limbo and they live trapped in their parent’s basement in a holding pattern losing valuable time.

IMG_0619

This is also widespread among Christians. Right now, a lot of people are looking back on their lives and feeling that many years were stolen from them.   They recount scenes of besetting sin, betrayal, calamity, sickness and just plain mistakes that had outsized impact on their years.

Again and again I have heard saints of God explain how unfair it seemed that huge chunks of their life were taken and they say, “I just want them back!”

That is when Joel 2:25 it hit me like a Mack truck”   “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust.”  Those are words that we can claim right now.’

America needs Christians who believe that God can restore stolen years.  The broken spirit of America is an amazing mission field for believers who shake off despair and dread and confess that enemy must pay back 7 times what he has taken from us.

Armed with this revelation I was able to exhort a great man of God.  He surveyed the wreckage of America and was lamenting past mistakes and feeling that he was out of time.  This Christian general sighed deeply and said “if only I were a younger man…”  I interrupted him and said “YOU ARE A YOUNGER MAN!  I didn’t have to say anything more the light of God hit his spirit and I could feel the clock starting to go backwards.

No long after that I was with an older woman who had received a great miracle of healing.  While she was grateful for her health she was also regretting the years that Satan had stolen from her.  I exclaimed to her that her healing was proof that God was mounting a fresh attack through her.

The Holy Spirit wants to give us back what Satan has stolen and them some!   Here is how:

1. BURN OUT THE BURN OUT!   Isaiah 40: 30,31 “Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall,31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

August Cover

Waiting on God will bring specific fire to burn out fatigue and regret.   It will rev up your engine to attempt things that you thought you were too old to do.  You will now say, “No, I am not too old.  No, I am not going to sit still.  No, it is not too late!”   You need to make some bold moves and big decisions.  Realize that it was not really your body that was tired but your spirit.   Go to war in prayer specially seizing God’s promise to fuel and direct those who wait on Him.  Do this before you really do get old!

2.Do not settle merely for restored energy, but a fresh exploit! When David lost everything at Ziglag God gave him this promise “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” -1 Samuel 30:8

Caleb believed that God rejuvenated him in old age for a new exploit:  Joshua 14:10,11 “And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in.”

Some of what you suffered in your past was because you were timid.   You went along with things and you did not make the demands on life that were just and right.  Now you must boldly enforce God’s Word and apply God’s grace.   You are being resurrected from weakness to for a whole new chapter of victory.

3. Believe that your life will not only be energized but extended. He wants to add years. The damage ate up years of crops.  What God promised in Joel “I will restore the years”  is that You shall be comforted according to the time that you have been afflicted, and shall have years of plenty to more than make up for the years of famine.

This is not just added time but added results that puts your life back in the plus column.  Haggai 2: 9 ‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ says the Lord of hosts.”

power-and-authority

Note just added time but long life that satisfies: Psalm 91: 15 says, “He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”

4:  Live to leave something for the next generation.  Psalm 71: 18 “18 Now also when I am old and gray headed, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.” I believe that great men and women have been kept alive by their passion to impart a legacy to the next generation.  So long as they stubbornly mentored, imparted and wrote great works of wisdom it kept them alive.

America needs Christians who are a blast furnace of encouragement and determination.  We rebuke that spirit that says America cannot be great.  She can be greater than ever if the army of God blasts forth to reclaim everything that Satan has stolen.

Health insurance marketplaces signing up few uninsured Americans, surveys say

By , Updated: Thursday, March 6, 12:00 PM

The new health insurance marketplaces appear to be making little headway so far in signing up Americans who lack health insurance, the Affordable Care Act’s central goal.

A pair of surveys released on Thursday suggest that just one in 10 uninsured people who qualify for private health plans through the new marketplace have signed up for one — and that about half of uninsured adults has looked for information on the online exchanges or plans to look.

Taken together, the snapshots shown by the surveys provide preliminary answers to what has been one of the biggest mysteries since HealthCare.gov and separate state marketplaces opened last fall: Are they attracting their prime audience?

One of the surveys, by the consulting firm McKinsey & Co., shows that, of people who had signed up for coverage through the marketplaces by last month, just one-fourth described themselves as having been without insurance for most of the past year.

The survey also attempted to gauge what has been another fuzzy matter: how many of the people actually have the insurance for which they signed up. Under federal rules, coverage begins only if someone has started to pay their monthly insurance premiums.

And, the survey show, that just over half of uninsured people said they had started to pay, compared with nearly nine in 10 of those signing up on the exchanges who said they were simply switching from one health plan to another.

The second survey, by researchers at the Urban Institute and based on slightly older data from December, shows that awareness of the new marketplaces is fairly widespread but that lower-income Americans and those who are uninsured are less likely to know about this new avenue to health coverage than other people.

The surveys are not a perfect way of showing who exactly is gaining coverage, and whether the marketplaces are reaching parts of the U.S. population that need insurance the most. But they begin to fill in blanks that both advocates and opponents of the sprawling, 2010 health-care law all say are critical to understand.

“If there is one point to the law, it is to lower the number of uninsured,” said Larry Levitt, senior vice president of the Kaiser Family Foundation, a health policy organization. “Ultimately, that has to happen for the law to be judged a success.”

With just over three weeks remaining in a six-month sign-up period, the question of how many uninsured people are gaining coverage so far is eluding both Obama administration officials and most of the private health plans being sold through the new marketplaces.

Inside the Department of Health and Human Services, staff analysts who have been producing monthly enrollment updates are confronted with a major hindrance to examining the question of people’s prior insurance status: the wording of the HealthCare.gov applications themselves.

The paper versions of applications, used by a small fraction of people who are signing up contain a multiple-choice question asking whether people in a household currently have insurance. “No” is one of the boxes people can check.

However, the online application, used by most people to enroll, asks whether people want to apply for coverage but does not give them a place to indicate whether they have insurance now or have had it in the past. As a result, HHS analysts have no way of assessing how many of the online enrollees were uninsured n the past.

“We are a looking at a range of data sources to determine how many marketplace enrollees previously had coverage,” said Julie Bataille, director of the Office of Communication in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the HHS agency overseeing the insurance marketplaces. “Previous insurance coverage is an important metric, and we hope to have additional information in the future.”

In the absence of information from people who have enrolled, Obama administration officials have drawn attention to recent outside polls, which suggest that the overall number of uninsured Americans is declining. It is not clear, however, whether the trend is because of the health-care law or other reasons.

call centers

So far, of 14 states that are operating their own insurance exchanges, instead of relying on the federal one, only New York has given any indication about how many uninsured people are signing up. Last month, the NY State of Health, the state’s marketplace, reported that 70 percent of the half-million people who had enrolled since it opened in October were uninsured at the time they signed up.

The McKinsey survey, its fourth since late November to measure the behavior of Americans in the new insurance marketplaces, is based on a national sample of about 2,100 people. It shows that 27 percent of people who had bought coverage by early February had been uninsured, compared with 11 percent a month earlier.

It defined uninsured people as those who qualify for private health plans sold through the exchanges. It does not include anyone who is uninsured and has an income low enough that they qualify for Medicaid, a public insurance program that is being expanded under the law in about half the states. The Urban Institute survey includes people eligible for Medicaid in its definition of the uninsured.

McKinsey’s survey also includes people who bought insurance outside the new marketplaces. Asked at a conference on Thursday how many Americans are buying insurance on their own, apart from the new marketplaces, Gary Cohen, the outgoing director of CMS’s Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, said that federal health officials have not yet tried to collect such information. “I think it is a really important question because obviously the goal is to get as many people insured as possible,” Cohen said.

The McKinsey survey also found, as it had during the previous few months, that, of people who are uninsured and do not intend to get a health plan through the marketplaces, the biggest factor is that they believe they could not afford one.

President Barack Obama

May I ask this question? Why is it that Americans don’t have the freedom to choose their own health insurance? I just don’t get it. Why must the liberal nanny state make decisions for us? We can make them ourselves, thank you very much. It’s like choosing a car, buying a home or investing in a stock. We can handle it.

So why must the government tell me and everyone else what we can and cannot buy?

Charles Krauthammer and the Wall Street Journal’s Dan Henninger noted in excellent recent columns that this whole Obamacare business represents the greatest-ever expansion of the liberal entitlement-state dream. But I don’t want that dream. And you shouldn’t either.

Here’s what else I don’t want: As a 60-something, relatively healthy person, I don’t want lactation and maternity services, abortion services, speech therapy, mammograms, fertility treatments or Viagra. I don’t want it. So why should I have to tear up my existing health-care plan, and then buy a plan with far more expensive premiums and deductibles, and with services I don’t need or want?

Why? Because Team Obama says I have to. And that’s not much of a reason. It’s not freedom.

Fortunately, NBC News pulled the plug this past week on President Barack Obama’s promise that “if you like your own plan, you can keep it.” Ditto for keeping your own doctor. The plug was pulled because NBC learned that Team Obama knew—for three years—that stiff new regulations would prevent the grandfathering of existing health-care plans. And not just a few plans. But plans that could affect as many as 15 million individuals.

The day after that bombshell hit, the president tried to blame insurers rather than regulatory overkill for this Obamacare shortfall. Yet both the public and the mainstream media were having none of it. In what may turn out to be a landmark moment, Americans and the media at large have turned against the president and Obamacare.

obama-tearing-constitutionAs for the grandfathering lie, Obama’s HHS staffers were the saboteurs. They undoubtedly acted with full knowledge of what they were doing, and thus trapped the president in three years of falsehoods that were essential to selling Obamacare.Incidentally, equally punitive regulations will hit more than 90 million employer-sponsored health plans next year. It’s the same problem as the individual plan. Grandfathering won’t work. Moreover, replacing these plans with much more expensive products will constitute a major tax hike on the entire economy. This point shouldn’t be lost as Americans worry about being kicked from their plans. Obamacare is not only anti-freedom but anti-growth.

And I just love it when they tell me that so many of these existing plans are substandard “bad apples.” Do the president and his people not know that insurance at the state level is one of the most regulated areas of the economy? They’re blaming insurance companies, not their own new regulations. The stupidity of that is hilarious. Do they really think salesmen are out selling these policies off the back of trucks?

 train tax insert

No, this is federal coercion at its worst. And that’s why the public is turning against it. It’s not freedom.

Of course, there are other structural problems to Obamacare that are both unfair and unaffordable. Mainly, younger healthy people are not going to subsidize older sicker folks. We should take care of the latter with transparent government subsidies, and not by trying to redistribute resources (again) from the young to the old.

Or then there’s the Medicaid entitlement. It’s already out of control and close to bankruptcy. But in the early days of Obamacare, Medicaid sign-ups are exploding, all while sign-ups for private plans on the new exchanges are minuscule.

Between the president’s broken promises, the millions of policy cancellations, the continued website breakdowns and the unaffordable, unfair con game between the healthy young and the sicker old, this Obamacare monster is well on its way to collapsing of its own weight.

But here’s the bigger point: All this is the inevitable result of massive central-planning exercises to control the economy. That’s not freedom.

No amount of rescue legislation is going to change this. It’s the elections of 2014 and 2016 that will allow citizens to reject this Soviet-style planning. But I’ll reference my conservative colleagues in the media once again: Obamacare represents the greatest-ever expansion of the liberal entitlement-state dream. And you know what? That dream is crumbling and dissolving before our very eyes.

And that is freedom.
