ENTITLEMENT AND ESCAPISM

Something is coming and the church is not ready. In recent days God has been trying to warn the American church about what is coming, but, what have we done with these warnings?

I heard one preacher exclaim, “Teaching that anything bad is coming, is defeatism.” He refused to give his children a defeatist world view. What he thinks is love is the ultimate abuse. His children will not be ready.

It’s not as if God hasn’t warned the American church that perilous times are coming. One choice instrument was David Wilkerson. Many listened to his predictions, but many others wrote him off as an angry prophet.

I dare you to reread his words, go back and watch his videos, they are still on YouTube. David will come across completely different to you now. Now that libraries are bringing in drag queens to read to children. Now that abortion is no longer just a ‘right,’ but a cause for celebration. Now that our halls of power are sewers of falsehood, betrayal, ambition, greed, and lust, and now that the very fabric of civilized society is unraveling.

I dare you to call him legalistic, now that you can see that exactly what he predicted is happening.  Now that you see churches have abandoned the Bible.  Now that every day you hear of one more minister condoning materialism and promoting a ‘cheap grace’ that covers lust. Disdaining holiness and denying the existence of Hell. Just as he predicted, there is an epidemic of preachers who are addicted to drugs, alcohol, and pornography.

Our young daughters have unwelcome transgender visitors in the girl’s restroom at school.  We are a nation of drug addicts. Tens of thousands die every year from opioids.

The bane of Modern Christianity can be summed up in just 2 words: Entitlement and Escapism.

Go back with me to a time before all this madness, and see when a sense of entitlement began to infect the church.

No one got saved in the early church because they were promised a lavish life. Each convert knew from the jump they would pay a price for following Jesus. They embraced Christ because something real happened to them. They knew—beyond knowing—that He was the Truth and the Life.  Knowing Him was infinitely worth the cost. All they wanted was Jesus.

It is ironic that we tend to feel sorry for them, when in fact they would pity us! Yes, they were persecuted, but God was real in them. Their clarity unlocked something most of us do not have: inexpressible peace and joy.

Entitlement rolled into church like a Trojan horse. Certain preachers, like all good marketers, considered true discipleship a hard sell, so they replaced it with perks, inducements and flattery. Church became one giant participation trophy. The unspoken boast was, “What have we to do with self-denial? What have we to prepare for?” We as American Christians became too good for suffering. That was for other people, in other nations.

What edge did believers in the first century have over us? A massive one. They could survive anything that they encountered, whereas many today will be taken out the moment something happens that their pastor said God would never let happen.

Since ancient Christians expected to suffer, suffering never threw them for a loop. It never dawned on them that they would escape trials and tribulations. Because of that, they had a singular power that we don’t: the power to glory and thrive in evil times.  Compare that with today’s Christian whose idea of spiritual warfare is claiming a parking space.

This is the person Jesus warned us about in Matthew 13:20, “But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.”

The shocking thing will not just be how many entitled believers will stumble, but how little it will take to make them stumble.

Now let’s talk about escapism. The world that vessels like Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, Kenneth Hagin, Steve Hill, and yes, David Wilkerson warned us about is here. The world that your favorite pulpit babysitter promised would never come—came anyway.

We didn’t escape. We have already witnessed this mass tragedy. Life has taken a turn in these United States that many churchgoers never believed could or would happen. There has been a falling away: because so many were ignorant, so many were offended.

Even many of the Christians who remained faithful, express their escapist denial in many ways. Instead of searching the scriptures for truth, they delve even deeper into teachings that now look silly. They want more materialism; they want more entitlement; they plunge into more false teachings and false ways. They go heavier into emotionalism. Their escapism is expressed in a sanctimonious tone, and then they lie about their reasons for believing they will escape all suffering.  They say we must stay out of politics and not choose sides, even as it has become undeniable that we must take a stand. Instead, they bury their head in the sand and are oblivious as evil takes away our freedom and our children’s future.

Escapism is what gives them a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof. Denial is why they imitate New Age teachings and make prophecy into a kind of game. But David Wilkerson also saw something else: A fresh and mighty move of the Spirit. He saw Jesus pulling people aside to enter into a close relationship with Him, and to instill in them the power needed to save this nation.  He said, “God is revealing to all praying people that a glorious new work of the Spirit is about to break forth. God is going to shake everything that can be shaken. He will tear down the old political, backslidden, ecclesiastical system. He will disown the formal, super-church structure. He will chase out of His presence all those who are engaging in self-promoting ministries.”

Many will fall, but many will rise to levels of power and usefulness that are astounding. God not only knew the insanity of today was coming—He took steps to prepare a special relationship that would produce special powers in His Children.  You already know who you are.

God is taking you aside to give you nation-saving power and skills. All glory to His Name!

Still can’t support Trump?

You’re a Christian who still can’t support Trump? Let me share this fact with you: The people who hate Trump also hate you. They hate your faith. They hate your Bible. They hate your values. They hate Israel. They hate the Constitution and truth be told, they hate America. They hate you even if you don’t support Trump. They will hate you after Trump is gone.

They hated these things all along, only you weren’t supposed to know. You were supposed to be introduced to their radical agenda on the installment plan. But now they are in a frenzy and are throwing their gradual timetable to the wind and rushing everything. They are rushing: drag queens into story hours, gender bending subject matter into grammar schools, radical abortion policies, gun control and censorship. So, what’s their hurry? They are in a rage—such a rage, that they will openly refuse to stand up for the National Anthem and even chant their hatred against the highest office in the land at baseball games.

Two things happened that blew their cover.  Obama failed and Trump succeeded. None of that was supposed to happen. This is because the true socialist believes the only reason socialism has always failed is because “real socialism” has never been tried correctly. Every time it fails, they regroup and try again. They refuse to see that Socialism has imploded because it is a terrible system responsible for killing 100 million people in the last 100 years.

When Obama’s socialism failed, they put Hillary forward, hoping she would do the job. Trump was not supposed to win. His victory destroyed their plans. His presidency enraged them so deeply, they flew into a rage and started saying everything out loud that they had tried to keep a secret. They were forced into springing their trap early.

Again, they didn’t just start hating you when Trump won. They have hated you all along. You just weren’t supposed to find out so soon. It wasn’t their first choice to start censoring blogs, books, and speakers, but after Trump blew their cover, he drove them into a frenzy. Now they are out of control, spewing venom like a spitting cobra on drugs. The demented members of the ‘party of death’ are breaking every rule of free speech and tolerance. And they must be stopped.

I am amazed at how many Christians still do not stand with Trump. I hear the strangest excuses every day. I am curious to know how Trump can ‘hurt their feelings,’ while at the same time the hatred for God, tyranny, lies, and outrageous lawlessness of the Left doesn’t seem to bother them.

We must never spiritualize cowardice. We must never be confused about our duty. Our duty is to stop evil. “For this purpose was the Son of God manifest, to destroy the works of the evil one.”  And if there ever was a party of evil, it is the Socialist Party, formerly known as the Democratic Party.  God has placed Donald Trump in the Oval Office to be a wrecking ball, but he is not the one who is trying to wreck the church, Israel, freedom, marriage, or morality.

Believers who tell me they can’t support him whine, complain, and get holier-than-thou but never offer an alternative. Why? Because there is no alternative. When you tell me, “I am not going to vote for the lesser of two evils”, you are deflecting. Your non-vote is helping to assure that evil will prevail.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.” Not to vote for Trump empowers the people who hate you and your children. If they ever succeed in all their plans to change our precious land of the free into a socialist state, it is game-over for the last truly free country on earth. Stand up for liberty, pray for those in Washington, and vote for those who love America. We as believers can and must turn this nation back to God!

THIS MAN IS INSULTING YOUR INTELLIGENCE

This man is insulting your intelligence

There are times when Christians especially need to use their brains. Now is one of those times, because Pete Buttigieg is insulting your intelligence.

He wants you to be tolerant. He wants you to be accepting. He wants you to overlook, dismiss and deny what is plainly set before you. He doesn’t want you to believe your eyes. He is the embodiment of ‘what you see is what you will not get.’

Here are three ways he is treating you as if you are stupid.

  1. He believes you are too stupid to remember the disaster of electing someone who has never accomplished a thing. In other words, he wants you to forget Barack Obama. Obama is why we should not vote for Buttigieg. We already tried this. We’ve already had a President with no proven leadership skills.

We’ve already had the mouthful of high sounding platitudes with nothing to back them up. We’ve already tried the ‘Hopey, Changey’ lie. Remember how Obama promised to restore the oceans and heal the earth?

We fell for the warm and fuzzy feeling. We’ve already tried the new that made us look hip and open minded. We’ve already suffered through the messianic community organizer—why would we endure the robot mayor of Westworld?

Mayor Pete is more algorithm than human. He is the carefully worded non-statement, non-position— except for the go-to, catch-all statement of every candidate on the Left: “I am running to defeat Trump.”

We have no idea what he believes. His only conviction, is to have no convictions.

  1. He thinks you are too stupid to see he is a walking contradiction. He claims to be a Christian, and yet condones two things that the Bible deems abhorrent. I will confront one of them: He has a radical view of abortion. He believes a fetus is not a human being, until it breathes. He believes he can prove this from the Bible. Think of it… a child can be murdered, until it takes its first breath!

Here are five passages from the Bible that describe babies in their mother’s womb:

“Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, and the One who formed you from the womb, ‘I, the LORD, am the maker of all things, stretching out the heavens by Myself, and spreading out the earth all alone . . .’” (Isaiah 44:24).

David wrote: “You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works and that, my soul knows well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret and skillfully wrought in the dark of the womb. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed, and in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them” (Psalm 139:13-16).

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5).

But when He who had set me apart before I was born, and had called me through His grace . . .” (Galatians 1:15).

“Behold, children are a gift of the LORD; they are a reward from Him” (Psalm 127:3).

  1. He thinks you are too stupid to see that he is not a moderate—when he is, in fact, a radical. Pete Buttigieg is trying to be the cure for Bernie Sanders. He is telling us that he is the moderate Democrat who will appeal to the center. This is a total lie.

As Mike Huckabee observed, “Buttigieg is even more radical when it comes to criminal justice reform, pledging to “ensure more people are free, by significantly reducing the number of people incarcerated in the United States at both the federal and state level by 50%.”

Huckabee went on, “Between jails and prisons, that would mean about 1.1 million convicted criminals released into American communities. They wouldn’t all be “non-violent drug offenders,” either – though Buttigieg is saying that as President he would decriminalize possession of all drugs, including meth and heroin.” https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/mike-huckabee-pete-buttigieg-is-no-moderate-all-dem-presidential-candidates-embrace-radical-policies

HE WOULD MAKE HEROIN LEGAL.

What else is Buttigieg hiding? Mayor Pete not only embraces unfettered illegal immigration, but actually wants to encourage more of it.

He wants amnesty for all 11 million illegal immigrants. He wants you to pay for their healthcare. He is for decriminalizing illegal immigration altogether.

Buttigieg even wants to create a new “community renewal visa” to funnel cheap foreign labor right into the areas where American citizens are struggling most for jobs and higher wages.

Pete is trying to con you. He thinks you’re too dumb to see it. But he is wrong…

The best thing I ever heard about Christmas

What is the best thing I ever heard about Christmas, you ask?  How can anyone adequately answer that question?  The best music ever written was written for Christmas.  The finest art ever created pays homage to that holy night.

It has moved writers…or rather, it has seized them.  Billions of words have been dedicated to it.  When reason screams, “Don’t write anymore!” Christmas moves the foolhardy to try again and find some fresh meaning contained in the most often told story in history.

The power of Christmas turns children into righteous grownups.  Then it turns righteous grownups back into children.

A testament to its glory is the cosmic grudge Satan bears against Christmas.  He never leaves it alone.  He must commercialize it.  And, in one instance he grew so desperate to harm it that he used some misguided ministers to ban it in England, because they thought Christmas was carnal!  The London Times didn’t mention Christmas for 10 years!

Then in 1843, Charles Dickens wrote the story of Scrooge, and Christmas was back.  Here, is a passage from A Christmas Carol. It is one of the best descriptions of Christmas ever penned:

“But I am sure I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round — apart from the veneration due to its sacred name and origin, if anything belonging to it can be apart from thatas a good time: a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time: the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.”

However, no musician, no orator, and no artist, no writer (including Dickens), can touch the best thing I ever heard about Christmas.

The reason is that the words were forged in heaven by God Himself.  It was a note sent on ahead to explain what He meant by sending His Son to earth.

He tenderly crafted what should be said.  Then God did what every good writer must do—He made it concise.  He compressed an eternity of meaning into short, simple phrases.

Then he chose messengers whom He solemnly charged to speak these matchless words.  Relive with me that night when the best words ever spoken about Christmas were given to man.

Luke 2:8, “Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: you will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:  14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!””

Christmas says, “Do not be afraid of the supernatural!”   The angels knew humans are terrified when they appear.  Note that they often preface their message with, “Fear not!” God wants us to know that it is a normal part of the life of the righteous to see signs and wonders.  Don’t be afraid of needing miracles.  Don’t be startled by the way God answers your prayers.

Don’t let the package fool you.  Don’t let the fierceness of evil discourage you.  The mission will not be thwarted.

Not only is the supernatural normal—it is good news!  When the Holy Spirit begins to move in a sedate church, the pastor should recognize that it is not an emotional thing, or a heretical thing, but a glorious thing!  It is a heavenly takeover that will impel the work of God forward.  Miracles are not a menace.  They are the perfect solution.

“This will be to all people.”  Christmas will not stop until it has achieved its goal. Nothing can stop the conquering march of the Son of God.  Don’t let the package fool you.  Don’t let the fierceness of evil discourage you.  The mission will not be thwarted.  The kingdom of this world will become the Kingdom of our God and of His Christ.  And He shall reign forever and ever!

“Christmas has never been convenient.  It never asks for an appointment.  It barges in and pulls you into the dance.  It grabs you by the soul and sets it to singing.”

This Holy Child is the perfect gift from God to you.  God has given you His best.  He has come because of your need.   Here is the absolute answer to mankind’s curse.  And this cure has no side effects!  This solution does not miss the mark.  It is for you, and it is from Someone Who knows everything about you.

Break out in Joy! Use joy as a weapon. Use joy for renewed strength.  Let joy do its job.  Don’t restrain joy because of the evil around you.  Release joy because of the evil around you!

Christmas has never been convenient.  It never asks for an appointment.  It barges in and pulls you into the dance.  It grabs you by the soul and sets it to singing.  It is not that you can’t fight Christmas…it’s that you shouldn’t!  And that is the best thing I ever heard about Christmas.   Merry Christmas!
