HELL IS REAL

After Ricky Gervais delivered a truth bomb to the Hollywood elites at the Golden Globe Awards, the Left told him how offended they were. His response was classic. He said, “Just because you are offended doesn’t mean you are right.”

Many Christians do not believe in Hell simply because the idea offends them. However, once again, that doesn’t mean you are right. No matter how much the subject terrifies you—no matter how intensely you reject the thought of Hell, or struggle with the concept, it is not a valid argument to say, “I don’t believe in Hell because the idea stings.”

It is also not a winning argument to say that a God of love would never create a Hell. All you are doing by saying that is making God in your own image. Jesus is the most loving Person Who ever lived, and He spoke of Hell as being real, as recorded in the New Testament, in 15 places. The word “hell” appears 23 times in the KJV.

Neither is it valid to reject eternal punishment by saying it is a myth made up by parents to scare their children into becoming Christians. If a truth is abused by men, that does not make it untrue.

The worst traitor is the preacher who denies the fact of Hell simply to gain wider acceptance. Paul felt that the reality of Hell should intensify our message to the world. He wrote, “Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men…” (2 Corinthians 5:11).

We know that the Holy Spirit is aware of Hell, because Jesus said in John 16:8: “And when He (the Spirit of Truth) has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment…”

The Holy Spirit has prompted me to write to you about Hell because of Rob Bell, a former mega-church pastor who has gained traction because of Oprah Winfrey and CNN. He claims to be a Christian who doesn’t believe in Hell. And, of course, his church is in California.

In my opinion, Rob Bell is not teaching this out of a pure conscience, but to be accepted by the Oprah crowd and those who welcome a watered down Gospel. Furthermore, Rob Bell is not content to disbelieve in Hell, he also wants you and every other born again believer to stop believing in Hell.

He uses a crafty term to get us to reinterpret the Bible. He wrote in his bestselling book, deceptively titled “Love Wins,” that we should not take the Bible literally but “literately.” In other words, he is of a higher intelligence than you and me and can therefore educate us on the proper way to interpret the Bible.

This tendency by the Left and certain evangelical ministers to claim a higher I.Q. than you and me is becoming both common and tedious. You’ll remember Mark Galli, the radical editor of Christianity Today Magazine, spoke about Christians who support Trump. He said Trump supporters didn’t finish college and don’t have jobs. This gave him instant acceptance by CNN and all the other Leftist news outlets.

Look at the verses where Jesus talks clearly and undeniably about Hell:

  • Mat 5:22: “whoever says, ‘You fool!’ Shall be liable to the hell of fire”
  • Mat 8:11-12: He said that the Jews (sons of the kingdom) “will be thrown into outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth”
  • Mat 13:40: regarding the wheat and the tares: “the angels will gather out of His kingdom all causes of sin and all evildoers, and throw them into the furnace of fire; there men will weep and gnash their teeth”
  • Mat 18:8-9 speaks of being thrown into the eternal fire
  • Mark 9:44 and 48 calls Hell “unquenchable fire”
  • Mat 22:13: in the parable of the wedding feast, the man who lacks the proper garment is “cast into the outer darkness, there men will weep and gnash their teeth”
  • Mat 25:30: the man who buried the talent in the ground is also cast there
  • Mat 25:41: “Depart from Me you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels”
  • Luke 16:22-24: in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, Jesus describes Hell: 22 “So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hell, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame’”

Now that Hell is out of the bag we have to face it. Every preacher must decide where they stand. You either believe Jesus or you believe Rob Bell. Let me explain. C. S. Lewis heard famous philosophers say that Jesus was a great moral teacher, but that He was not the Son of God. Lewis blew that argument to smithereens by explaining that Jesus said He is the Son of God, and if He isn’t the Son of God He was lying. And if He is a liar, He is not a great moral teacher.  Likewise if there is no hell then Jesus is a liar and not the savior of the world.

But if you were to ask me the most terrifying proof verse of Hell I would say it is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” How can we calculate what it cost God the Father to save us? It was the highest price ever paid for anything. Sometimes the only way to understand the true horror of something is by seeing the extreme measures to which someone is willing to go in order to redeem people from it.

The question when you stand before God will not be, “How can You do this to me?” It will be, “How could you reject so great a salvation again and again, knowing what it cost the Father to give His only Son to die on the cross to save you?”

Hell is real and, thank God, Heaven is too. The way to be saved from Hell is not mysterious. It begins with believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth, as plainly stated in Romans 10:9, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

The old time preachers are right after all! There is a Heaven to gain and a Hell to shun.  If you have never said a salvation prayer, please, pray:

Lord Jesus, I see You on the cross dying for me. By dying on the cross, You proved Your love for me. By rising from the dead three days later, You proved You have the power to set me free. Thank you for saving me from spending all eternity in Hell. I surrender my will to You. I repent of all my sins. Forgive me and cleanse me. Come and live in my heart. From this day forward, I will make You Lord of my life, and I will follow You for the rest of my life, until the day You call me to Heaven.  Amen

God is in the most aggressive search

Many Christians and Pastors are in deep turmoil because God is chasing them down. The Lord God has begun a deep work in them that has made them strangers without a country. They don’t know where they fit. God won’t let them get good at something they are not supposed to be doing. They are done with business as usual.

Is there a deep work of God in you that is ruining you for this world? Are you done with the world system—especially the way it operates in the church?  Do you leave a service, thinking, “This is not it, there is something terribly wrong here.”  You can’t stomach the glitzy entertainment centers anymore. Again, I am talking about both pastors and parishioners. Believe me: BOTH preachers AND parishioners.

They are angry at egocentric preachers with grandiose, expensive, and carnal visions that have zero to do with winning souls.  They are sick of being distracted—even derailed from their first love.  Disciples are abandoning ‘attraction-church’ models in droves. Something revolutionary is happening deep inside them, because God has begun a secret work.

Honest pastors are also in divine turmoil.  The enemy condemned them for having a smaller church.  After years of blood, sweat, and tears, their churches were battered, broken, and diminished—because they can’t compete with ‘mega-church mania’.

And why can’t they compete? It’s because they have maintained their integrity!   When they see large crowds and big money pour effortlessly into churches that either hide or pervert the Gospel, it is easy to feel like a fool for staying true.  The Bible says, “Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, And washed my hands in innocence. 14 For all day long I have been plagued, and chastened every morning.” Psalm 73:13,14.

However, our friend in Psalm 73 came to a great conclusion. After being bulldozed by the success of the wicked, he took action “16 When I thought how to understand this, It was too painful for me—17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end.”  There are many pastors whose hearts are crying out for more—for a miracle they can’t even describe.

When the writer of Psalm 73 entered the sanctuary, exhausted and discouraged, the greatness of God overwhelmed him.  He saw that there is no version of this battle where Satan wins.  This is a part of the secret work God is doing in you!

A growing number of hungry hearts agree—with all its money and crowds—the compromised church did nothing to rebuke America’s sin.  The ‘seeker-friendly’ model was a house of cards that stood no chance against the onslaught being waged on the unborn, and on marriage.  While these men slept, there have been over 54 million abortions, divorce is rampant, and the institution of marriage has been perverted.  In the last 10 years we have lost battle after battle: in government, education, and the media.  We are a hopelessly divided nation, enduring a cold civil war between the Left and the Right.

The situation is dire. We are beyond words. The specter of President Trump who is being attacked at every turn; the economy tanking; witch hunters digging up dirt on anyone and everyone, even back to their childhood demonstrates that no human solution remains for America.

So God has taken matters into His own hands. At the approach of evil, God recruits people. He yearns to express His supremacy over evil, through purified vessels. He ruins them for everything—everything, except His Glory. At this present hour, God is conducting the most aggressive search for available servants in American history.

What He means to create—when He finds true surrender—is stunning. He will imbue them with power to perform notable miracles, and power to speak with irresistible force.

Deep, deep in my soul, where the real knowing happens—I know God is doing something new.  Every atom of my being tells me that God is doing a secret work in His people.  God is finished with hirelings. He is drawing a remnant out of corruption and into a special, supernatural nearness to Him.  They will empty themselves of everything—every ambition will be burned out. There will be nothing remaining except one purpose—to love and please the Lord Jesus Christ.

Is God doing a secret work in you?  Has God closed you in and stripped you of all enjoyment of lesser things?  Are you experiencing a divine frustration because you are supposed to be a part of something only God can do?

What if millions of Americans get so miserable that they cry out to God in total desperation?  What if their cry is too deep, and their hunger is too great, to ever be happy in a lukewarm church?  This is why the Holy Spirit is recruiting a new breed—a breed that can be trusted in the awakening that is coming.

God is doing a secret work!  He is drawing a remnant to Himself.  He is taking the prophetic core and communing with them, training them, empowering them and preparing them for one last mighty blast of power.  The Holy Spirit sees that our nation is hanging by a thread.  The death-rattle is in America’s throat.   Before God allows destruction, He is going to do one last massive miracle, and give America one last chance.

That is why God has uprooted and filled you with deep travailing. It may look like a crisis, and feel like chaos, but the dealing of God within you is right on time!  Look for these signs:

  • People no one has ever heard of will come to the forefront.  They will arrive with awesome power and piercing messages. Some will not be regular ministers.  In fact, the majority will not leave their secular careers while God is using them.  Some will be pastors who have failed and fallen, due to discouragement. They will be rebuilt, refueled, and re-ignited!

  • Strange locations will house massive outpourings.  Churches that have been small for years will become ground zero for the presence of God.   People will flock in from everywhere to these centers of fire and glory.  Stunning signs and wonders will rock entire communities.  Some churches will be forced to stay open 24 hours a day, just to handle the harvest.

God is doing a secret work in you.  He is making you miserable, to make you into a miracle.

A.C. Valdez was a child during the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Azusa Street. He later became an evangelist.  God showed him the future and here is what he said:

“All the electrifying adjectives in the dictionary shaken together, pressed down, and running over will not begin to describe the soon-to-come, greatest outpouring of the Holy Spirit of all times. It is what the Bible calls, “the latter rain”.  You are going to see lay members carry out an amazing ministry through gifts of the Holy Spirit.  There will be wholesale cures of “incurable” conditions, healings of the blind, deaf, dumb, and handicapped, and creative miracles that will strain the imagination.  For those born without eyes, ears, fingers, arms or legs—or those who have lost them through disease or accidents—God will make new ones.  Many astonishing miracles will happen to bring on an international Christian breakthrough.”

I believe A.C. Valdez is not talking about a time far off in the future.  He is talking about now, because, my friend, it is now or never.

If this was

Dear Brothers and Sisters who lead big churches in America,
Leaving the truth out to avoid offending is a disaster.  When it is wildly successful, it is an even greater disaster.  Spurgeon said, “It is a very ill omen to hear a wicked world clap its hands and shout ‘Well done’ to a Christian man.”  Even in Spurgeon’s time, the world rewarded preachers for compromise.
The original Twelve were bold.  They preached letting the chips fall where they may.  No wonder they did. God was confirming their message with signs and wonders. Not only that, their preaching produced new creations of great joy, peace, and power. Our message was once contagious, catching on like wildfire, but now we resort to slick marketing to get society to listen to us.
Truth dispensed in love under the anointing has never needed such inducements. It never will.
The Bible teaches preachers not to offend unnecessarily. But true vessels of God have always understood that their message would awaken fury in some men. They disregarded popularity and even personal safety. They understood the difference between fulfilling a calling and trying to build a career in ministry.

Today we see a great evil in America. Congregations will enrich, yea they will elevate to superstar status any speaker who can eloquently keep the rightful demands of God off their backs.
Someone like me can be easily dismissed. When you take aim at vastly successful, far-flung Christian enterprises, you are easily rejected.   People will ask “how can you deny its effectiveness?” Or you hear them accuse saying, “You’re just being petty and jealous.”
But there are disturbing questions.  Is it petty to point out that this “success” coincides with America’s fastest moral decline? Is it jealousy to say that atheism and paganism have accelerated even as celebrity Pastors boast of their impact? Is it possible that in cheapening the Gospel we have paid a steep price?
There is another question. What might have been if we would have only trusted the Holy Spirit?  What if we had truly consulted and obeyed the One Who was sent to organize and direct the Church?  What would we look like now?
Preaching the entire Gospel releases power. 1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
Romans 1: 16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes…”
Why is the phrase “power of God” used in two verses that deal with the offense of the Gospel?  Because it is the power of God that drives home truth, even when it offends.
Paul understood the plan behind the offense.  As a top-flight intellectual, he was keenly aware of the God-designed offense of the Cross.  He refused to rely on his formidable skill in debate, saying instead: “4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” – 1 Corinthians 2: 4-5

The American Church will face a day of reckoning with American culture.  It is inevitable because the church and American culture will soon not be able to coexist.  Our society has become an open sewer, a bastion of banality where madness has the microphone.  We have the one message that should not be hidden or redacted.

With all my heart I believe it is not too late. But it is almost too late. I implore my brothers and sisters to repent. Let us present ourselves without reservation or hesitation to Almighty God.
The Pope showed Saint Francis the wealth of the Vatican. He said, “Well Francis, the church can no longer say ‘silver and gold have I none.’”  Francis replied, “And neither can it say, “In the Name of Jesus rise up and walk.””
Likewise, fellow preachers, we can no longer say that churches aren’t growing or prospering. But neither can we say that we have delivered the witness to America that God intended—and that is the only thing that can turn the tide.

If this doesn’t galvanize outrage.

If this doesn’t galvanize national outrage, I know God will judge us. Not gradually, not down the road, but right away. I believe we will see destruction on a scale we never dreamed imaginable. I believe heaven will revoke our right to exist as a nation.

The Governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam—a medical doctor—said, if a fully formed baby survives an abortion attempt the baby should lay on the table until the mother decides to kill it or let it live. I quote: “If a mother is in labor…the infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother” But it gets even worse…

This came from a centrist democrat. He is not known to be part of the wacko wing of his party. They have come this. He is declaring the mainstream opinion of the democrat party. What we have here is a defining moment. We are faced with a political party that sounds like a sociopathic butcher. They believe a wall is immoral but letting an infant die on a table is progressive.

We have left the realm of speculation. They blaspheme the very definition of civilization. They have—in my opinion—less decency than a Satanist Priest offering human sacrifice. At least the devil worshiper is not couching their depravity in polite terms.

Let me explain where we are: New York has legalized a form of ritual murder of innocents—a ritual unknown among savages. The Governor of Virginia echoes his approval in order to spread this sadism to Virginia. There is nothing left to think about. There is no place here for neutrality. This a clear choice between God and Satan.

Silence in the face of this unspeakable evil, is itself evil. Our theological differences don’t matter now. Every church must voice its outrage. Every pulpit must thunder its outrage. You must take a stand on this debauchery or stain your soul.

I have been a minister for 50 years. I saw the free love and leftist joy ride of the 1960’s. But I have never seen Americans plunge to this level of evil. I have never believed judgement on America was inevitable. Now I am forced to change my stance.

Judgement will come if all decent Americans do not find the requisite outrage—do not act as a single voice of condemnation to the most shameful, wicked, and repugnant practice in American history.

Call who ever you have to call. Write whatever letter you have to write. Preach whatever sermon you have to preach. Take a stand or lose your country.
