HEAVEN IN THE HALLWAY

By Mario Murillo

When God closes one door He opens another but it can be hell in the hallway.   You are stuck in the hallway! What are you doing here?  What good is failure and frustration?  Why has God closed every door to you?   Why has the Lord devised this divine interruption?  It can seem cruel and everything in you can rail against it.

God will trap you in the hallway.  Jeremiah screamed, “He has hedged me in so that I cannot get out; He has made my chain heavy.” -Lamentations 3: 7

Hannah’s hell looked like this: “And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb”- 1 Samuel 1: 6. Why would a loving God intensify her shame and pain by closing her womb?

Elijah was sent to the wilderness only to have God cut off his water supply: “And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.” – 1 Kings 17:7 How does any of this make sense?

Paul had doors slammed in his face by the Holy Spirit: Acts 16: 6 “Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. 7 After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.”

Not only this, Paul was put in prison at the very moment his physical presence in the churches was desperately needed. What gives?

The hallway seems like hell but if you calm your raging spirit and quell your fears and worries you can turn it into heaven.

The hallway is trying to save you.  Paul indeed had doors closed but then this happened in his hallway:  Acts 16: 8 So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us.’ 10 Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.”

You have gotten good at doing things you are not supposed to be doing.  You are off course.  The hallway is waking you up to the fact that you are busy but not effective. The hallway is where you end the tyranny of unimportant things.

The hallway is trying to teach you once and for all that God is your source: 1 Kings 17:8 Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, 9 ‘Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.’”

Elijah’s welfare was never in doubt.  Even in drought and famine he was safe.  God was trying to show him that whether it is brooks, ravens, or starving widows, God will take care of you.

This forced interruption serves to slay your deepest fears.  The world did not end. The bills got paid.  No threat prospered against you.  The hallway shows you God is your only source.  Outward sources of provision are mirages.  Your heart is fixed trusting in the Lord.

The Hallway deepens right desires and kills selfish motives.  God closes Hannah’s womb to deepen her desire for children.  In the hallway, she became willing to offer her first child to God.  That child became Samuel the prophet.  He saved Israel and is considered second only to Moses in Judaism.   But it gets way better: God remembered Hannah:  1 Samuel 2: 21 says, “And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile the child Samuel grew before the Lord.”  What an amazing outcome!  Not only does she get 5 more children—a prophet comes to save a nation.

The Hallway is a slingshot to unimagined momentum.  You seem immobilized and even like you are going backwards.  You are going backwards…for good reason!  Mighty elastic bands are being stretched to blast you forward.

Paul learned this lesson from his jail cell:  Philippians 1: 12 “But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, 13 so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; 14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.”

He writes triumphantly to Timothy from the hallway: “for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained. -2 Timothy 2:9

The Hallway is where you find out that just knowing God is everything.  I have—for reasons I will never know till I get to heaven—been privileged to know some of the most honored Christians in our lifetime.  At first, I notice the massive ministries they built.  Soon that fades and all you see is their intimate relationship with Jesus—their practical dependency on the Holy Spirit, and their passion to obey.

Jesus said, “John 15: 7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”  That is it!  These giants abide in Christ and everything else is secondary.  Until God frustrates your life and pulls the plug on your charade, you can’t know that.   Whatever you need to do will be done if you abide in Christ and His words abide in you.

These last days are horrible.  Within the church we have false doctrine, carnal leaders and a divided church.  Without, we have a world that is complicated and anti-Christian…it is a world that can blow up at any moment.  Don’t look for crisis to end but for God to work in you to make crisis lose its power to terrorize you.

The temptation to take matters into our own hands—to be obsessed with self-preservation and self-promotion—is greater than ever.  That is why there are hallways.

Daniel 11: 32 describes end time people.  It says, “Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”   Why are they strong?  Why do they do great exploits?  Because they know God.

Knowing God in the hallway—losing all your fear—being completely overtaken by Him can not only bring heaven in the hallway…you may not want to leave.

I leave you with these words from the book God Calling: “The world has always seen service for me to be activity.  Only those near to me have seen that a life apart, of prayer, may, and does so often, accomplish more that all of the service man can offer me. If man lived apart with Me and only went out to serve at My direct command My Spirit could operate more and accomplish truly mighty things.”

JUMPING THE SHARK

Jumping the shark

By Mario Murillo

We are trapped in a highly embarrassing situation: Youth are leaving churches to meet in homes—now get this—to study the Bible and pray.  This is happening because many churches have jumped the shark.

Wikipedia says, “’Jumping the shark’ is an idiom used to describe the moment a television show begins a decline in quality, signaled by a particular scene, episode, or aspect of a show in which the writers use some type of gimmick in an attempt to keep viewers’ interest, which is taken as a sign of desperation, and is seen by viewers to be the point at which the show strayed irretrievably from its original formula. The phrase is based on a scene from a fifth-season episode of the sitcom Happy Days when the character Fonzie jumps over a shark while on water-skis.”

The two kinds of churches hit by this youth exodus are:  1. The Seeker (mega) churches.  2. Churches that focus on exotic supernatural experiences.

How Seeker (mega) churches jumped the shark:  The idea was that the Gospel—on its own—would not attract the unchurched.  They hoped that by adding—enhancements—buttresses—rebranding, they would impact secular culture.   Culture won.

They had zero impact on cultural deterioration.  While they frantically tinkered, America entered a moral nuclear winter.  Violence, debauchery and atheism spiked on their watch.  This forced their goal to change from reformation to simply keeping seats full.

In desperation they jump more sharks: Secular music ousts hymns—half-naked women do dance productions—people get tattooed on stage as a backdrop to preaching…and the preaching is mushier than ever.

Then the shocker:  The doctrines, values and compelling truth that seeker pastors so assiduously extracted—thinking it would attract youth—is the vacuum that drove them away.

Prophetic/Hyper-supernatural churches are also jumping the shark.   Prophecies, encounters with angels, dripping oil, feathers and soul travel are reported with greater frequency…they have to be.

It is not enough for speakers to say they visited the third heaven, now they have to say they do it daily, and finally they say they can do it at will.  It is not enough to say Jesus visited them, now their guests are dead ministers—plus, they can invite others to these séances.  The sheer abundance of prophetic words, mystical experiences and soul travel that are now required in order to maintain popularity is breathtaking.

Youth are leaving these kinds of churches.  They may have oohed and awed for a season—now these extremes make their eyes roll.

We have the best message the world has ever heard.  Trying to improve it or spice it up only makes it worse.   We have the best book ever written.   We have the Holy Spirit to give us grace and power to more than match the evil of our day.

The American church is guilty of wresting away control from the Holy Spirit.   We have every advantage and yet we are losing for all the wrong reasons.  Never have so many, done so little, with so much!

Yet, we have every reason to be encouraged if our youth are craving the Word of God.  In fact, those who are listening and rejecting falsehood are hearing a clear message:  God is revealing to all praying people that a glorious new work of the Spirit is about to break forth.

praying

Yes, we can still turn everything around!  Our youth are yearning for the Bible—that is awesome news!   So get up, let’s go!  It starts with these simple declarations:

  1. The Bible is able to stand against all cultural lies. Preaching the Blood, the Cross, the Second Coming and yes, Hell transforms your pulpit into the place of power. Do not apologize just speak it and watch the Spirit of almighty God make your preaching into something you never imagined.

Recognize the danger signs!  When simple Biblical truth no longer thrills you—when you feel the need to be more exotic…stop!  Never let the audience clamor for more spooky revelations.

  1. Crave the towering miracles of the book of acts and not parlor tricks. Kathryn Kuhlman saw awesome power in a reverent atmosphere. The book of Acts and Corinthians are gleaming road maps to the kinds of healings, prophecies and miracles that no culture can stop and no generation can resist.
  2. Realize that God wants to do great and mighty things even more than we do. He does not need to be convinced to work, nor do we need to invent work to make up for some deficiency in God.

The Holy Spirit is waiting in the wings to lead us out of this mess.   Every minister who reads this has the power to repent and receive unquestioned clarity and authority that will make them compelling to youth.

Instead of jumping the shark—let’s flatten the enemy.

THE WILLIAM BRANHAM MOMENT

The William Branham Moment

The William Branham Moment

By Mario Murillo

William Branham shocked the world by ripping the thin veil between science and the supernatural.  His ministry did not just bless…in many instances, it terrified.

In Los Angeles, a man with cancer stood in the healing line for hours.  While waiting, he witnessed every kind of healing imaginable.  However, when it was his turn for prayer the evangelist refused.  Indignant, the man demanded to know why.   Branham said, “You don’t want me to tell you.”  The man was now furious and refused to leave without an answer.   “You are sleeping with your secretary,” said the evangelist.  With that, the man dropped his head and rushed out of the meeting.

William Branham was an answer to desperate prayer and an act of love by God the Father.   The Pentecostal movement was dying because of infighting and immorality.

Divine healing had fallen into disrepute.  Meetings were often fraught with emotionalism.  Charlatans whipped audiences into frenzies.  Most healing testimonies were sketchy at best.

Things were also bad outside the church.  America was in the grip of fear of nuclear war.  Psychiatry was replacing faith.  A whole generation was racing away from God.   Preachers were at a loss about what to do about it.

Bran 1

Today, the Spirit-filled movement finds itself in the same predicament.  Once again, we are mired by division and emotionalism.   Only this time it is much, much worse…I’ll tell you more about that later.

1946: Enter William Branham.  The atmosphere is low key.  There is no attempt to manipulate the people.  Branham tells the audience when the angel of the Lord is present—a statement that should sound preposterous, except that astounding things start happening.

Oral Roberts once told me, “There were no hard cases for Branham while he was enveloped by the anointing.”  Growths vanished, lifeless limbs awakened, blind eyes opened.

American historian, David Edwin Harrell Jr. described Branham as:

An unlikely leader….his preaching was halting and simple beyond belief. But William Branham became a prophet to a generation. A small, meek, middle-aged man with piercing eyes, he held audiences spellbound with tales of constant communication with God and angels. Night after night, before thousands of awed believers he discerned the diseases of the sick and pronounced them healed.

Like few men have ever been endowed with the raw supernatural power of William Branham.  There, for the entire world to see–for medical science to test, were signs and wonders that were incontrovertible.

Bran 4 copy

Branham’s innocence and simplicity would have been his demise had it not been for Gordon Lindsay.  Harrell said of Gordon Lindsay, “. . . more than any other man, [he] brought system and unity . . . contributing an orderly mind, keen business sense, boundless energy, badly needed literary skills and an ecumenical spirit.”

Together, Branham and Lindsay were used of God to birth an era.   A young Oral Roberts went to Kansas City to hear Branham.  The experience led him to resign his church in Enid, Oklahoma and obey God’s mandate to “take my healing power to your generation.”

In Portland, Oregon, T.L. Osborn sat transfixed by the word of the Lord from Branham.  This simple sentence from the lips of Branham launched Osborn: “God the Father heals the sick to prove that He raised His Son Jesus from the dead.

Just being used by God to launch Roberts and Osborn made him a vessel that touched millions.   But more than that…signs and wonders became a standard part of Spirit-filled soul-winning.

Now we have come to this terrible moment for the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement in America.  Compromise has hit us from the most unlikely sources.   A pandemic moral/political cowardice paralyzes our pulpits.  The wholesale removal of freedom of speech and freedom of religion has met only token resistance from “Spirit-filled” pastors.

Today we have widespread reports of “revivals” that are hugely disappointing.  In our heart of hearts we know they are total hype.  Healings are claimed but not confirmed.

We have witnessed the rise of an entire “revival” industry that hawks imaginary authority. People are reveling in spiritual fantasy worlds, blending astral projection and UFOs with Christianity.

Travelling ministries today sell high-pitch ecstasies that promise towering results over the enemy, but deliver zero impact on the culture.

branham-and-roberts copy

I have my suspicions.  I wonder if the voices that scream revival the loudest are simply trying to drown out their own unbelief, or if the abuse of GRACE –that has pastors drinking hard liquor after church–is merely defeatism that says, “What’s the use in trying?”

The times are dark, so dark in fact, that they carry a strange hope.  Maybe we are finally, finally willing to shed the stubborn sins that have imprisoned us in religious irrelevancy and deception.

Perhaps we are witnessing the creation of a positive vacuum in Pentecostals and in society.  This is our best chance to save America.  This vacuum is making Charismatic/Pentecostals replace things. These replacements are the key to power.

A real hunger for truth is replacing political correctness.   Donald Trump is a symptom of widespread anger with political correctness.   We are a fed up culture now.  People agree with Trump about America and that is why all of the criticism the media is throwing at him does not stick.

Many believers are angry with politically correct preaching.  The cry now is, “Quit feeding us junk food!”  We want experience power, not a feel good message.  Look around you… the hunger for truth is rising.

A true desperation is replacing our attitude of entitlement.  Americans know that they are losing their future to our government.  They no longer harbor the fantasy that tells us we’re going to pull out of this just because we are America.

Bran 3

Many Christians realize that they have never known true desperation until now.  They don’t want church to make them feel good anymore, they want church to put them right and make them strong.  They want something real so badly that they will take it straight—not sugar-coated or diluted.

A true spirit of prayer is replacing artificial prayer.   Believers are waking up to the fact that they prayed wrong.  They had agendas in prayer.  Pastors prayed as if prayer was a booster rocket for their pet program.   Prayer is returning to the raw, unconditional surrender that it was supposed to be all along.

The real message here is not the arrival of a man but of an era of explosive miracles.  That is what I am sensing and expecting.   What we have been waiting for will come in an unexpected package—Branham did!

Maybe we have finally reached total desperation.   Maybe now we will trade the unreliable for the undeniable.   Let it be, Oh, God.

God sends a Warning to America through a vision given to Oral Roberts

** FILE ** In this 1987 file photo, televangelist Oral Roberts gestures as he speaks. Roberts says he doesn't think his son, who ran the university that the evangelist founded until allegations of misspent school funds surfaced, did anything wrong. In a visit to the Oral Roberts University campus on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, the 91-year-old Roberts said he and Richard Roberts didn't discuss his son's decision to resign as the school's president in late 2007. (AP Photo, File)

So why didn’t we know that these mighty vessels were moved by God to issue final warnings to the the church and the nation?  Because the American Church is now as David Wilkerson put it “the ultimate feel good church of all time,”  we want to filter out anything that disturbs our cool vibe.  Here now is the loving message from the great evangelist Oral Roberts himself.  He saw a vision and with a broken heart he delivers a final plea to the American church.  -Mario Murillo

God sends a Warning to America through a vision given to Oral Roberts

“In the midst of the turmoil, the fear, the anxiety that’s in our nation and in our world, as I was walking and meditating, I heard the voice of God. I’ve heard that voice many times. It’s too familiar to me, and there’s no way that I can fail to understand it; His voice because I’m familiar with it. And instantly I heard that voice and I heard it and then I saw with my eyes something I’d never seen. Suddenly, in the clouds in the skies above New York City and the east part of the United States, and which hung there for quite sometime and then spread out across America, without touching the ground, and then God diffused it away from America and sent it out to the nations of the earth. And I saw and I heard. What did I see? I saw something coming down from above: Smoke and vapor and blood, or it looked like that to my eyes, to my spiritual eyes.

There it was hanging so huge until it almost blotted out the sky. Instantly I thought about 9/11, when the terrorists attacked the Twin Towers and through television all of us in America, and probably the world, saw those more than a hundred story high buildings crumple and heard the cry of thousands of people who were being either killed or wounded. I remembered the fear that struck my heart and knew that what I was feeling everybody else was feeling and remembered that never in the history of the world, and certainly not of America, that something of this proportion had struck the human race and was a preview of things similar to it that were going to happen through what we now call terrorists. First, I saw this thing hovering and great changes coming in it to where I couldn’t miss it. And then I heard, something came into my ears, and it reminded me of what a friend of mine had said when the first space capsule was released into the sky.

They told me that they made of all of them—he was a newsman in New York City—to be maybe half mile or more away from the capsule. And he said when that thing lifted off the earth, there was a sound, and the sound itself moved the weeds and the growth, and he said, “It penetrated my body.” He said, “As I talked to others, they felt the same thing.” He said the sound was so enormous that nothing had ever happened like it in the history of the world. Instantly, I thought of that because the sound that was coming into my ears was penetrating my whole being.

NYC

And then I heard God’s voice. {HE} said,

“I’M MAKING A SIGN.”

This is a sign according to the second chapter of Acts, where the Apostle Peter, upon the giving of the Holy Spirit, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, said there’ll be signs in the skies.”

He said, “This is one of the signs of the end time because the world is not ready for the second coming of my Son.” He said, “My church is not ready for the second coming of my Son.”

He said, “The Jews, with whom I’ve had the covenant for thousands of years, they’re not ready for the second coming of my Son.” He said, “The nations of the earth are not ready for the second coming of my Son.”
He said, “America has been set aside by a special covenant that I made with many of the people who came to found this nation several hundred years ago, that this was my nation and the gospel was going to go out from it unlike any other nation and there’d be more gospel going out from America.” And he said, not only would there be a powerful military presence in the United States unlike any other nation, but it would be the center of the gospel that I was sending out. And he said to me, “You remember that I said in my Bible to my disciples 2,000 years ago, ‘Go into all the world and teach all nations, and when that teaching has reached the nations then shall the end come.'” And then he startled me. He said, “With all of the widespread force of my church in the world, but particularly in the United States, which is the source of most of the gospel that’s being preached in all the world,”

Oral-Roberts-9460242-1-402

HE said, “THERE IS A WASTING OF MY POWER, THERE IS A FAILURE TO GRASP THE END TIME. AND THE CHURCH, THEY ARE COMING TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY MORNING MOSTLY FOR THEMSELVES. AND THE PREACHERS, FOR THE MOST PART, ARE NOT REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE NATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

“THEY’RE CONCERNED ABOUT THE LITTLE GROUP THAT IS THERE, AND THEY SING THEIR SONGS AND THEY GET UP AND PREACH. AND {HE} SAID, “WHEN 9-11 STRUCK, THERE WAS A FEAR THAT CAME INTO THE HEARTS, EVEN OF MY PEOPLE OF THE CHURCH AND OF THE PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE CHURCH. AND MILLIONS THE FOLLOWING SUNDAY OR TWO RUSHED TO GO TO CHURCH.”

“BUT THE PREACHERS WERE NOT PREPARED, AND MOST OF THEM DIDN’T EVEN PREACH ON IT AND DIDN’T EVEN TALK ABOUT IT BEING THE SIGN OF SOMETHING THAT’S COMING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF TIMES BIGGER.”

{HE} said, When those planes of the terrorists struck the Twin Towers in New York City and they gradually came tumbling down, it was something bigger than people had ever seen, but it’s nothing in comparison to what’s going to happen in the second coming of my Son.” And so he said, “My church was not prepared to deal with that, and people came to church and then nothing much happened and they dropped back and many of them went back to their bars,” as I heard Kenneth Copeland say.

“And there I was with my whole creation that’s alive in the earth, not counting all those who have died—millions who have lived and died, all of whom will be resurrected at some time in the future, having to do with the second coming of my Son, some to everlasting life, some to live forever in their new bodies and some to everlasting shame and contempt forever lost.” And he said, “I love people. I created them. I love them by creation. I love them because I sent my only begotten Son.” And instantly I thought of the great show that Mel Gibson made of The Passion. oral_roberts_1

When millions upon millions went to see it and are seeing it now all over the world. I remember when I sat there with my wife, watching it, and how my soul was stirred and the tears sprang from my eyes and my body trembled as I saw something about the sufferings of Jesus, the Son of God, to save the human race and so that the devil would not destroy God’s creation. He would not destroy men, women and children that God had created and for whom Jesus had died and rose from the dead that we might be born again—we might repent of our sins and have salvation and come into a readiness for the coming of Christ. And he says, “As you know in the Bible, the second coming in two parts. One is called the Rapture, one is called the revelation.

And first of all I’m going to rapture, or catch up, my people—the people who are born of my Spirit and filled with my Spirit and serving me. I’m going to catch them up in a moment of time and they’ll meet my Son in the clouds and come on into heaven, into my presence. And then not long after I’m going to bring that bride of Christ back with Jesus when he comes the second time to the earth, and that’ll be the beginning of the judgment of the nations.”

But he said, “The thing that is breaking my heart is that I commanded my people, I commanded my church to preach the gospel in all the world and to teach all nations. And while they are evangelists and pastors and prophets and apostles and all kinds of my workers in various parts of the world and in some of the nations of the earth, it’s just a drop in the bucket to what I commanded my disciples to do.”

praying for a boy

“And I love people so much I cannot afford to let people go on like they are.
And then he directed my attention to the book of Matthew, the 24th chapter, where he speaks in the 24th chapter and beginning at verse 35: “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my word shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my father only. What I’m talking about is known only to the Father. But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as the days that were before the flood that—there was eating and drinking— eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came; And the coming—so shall the coming of the Son of man be.”

Now, he reminded me in the 6th chapter of Genesis that the earth was filled with violence and it was so full it couldn’t be any more full and it grieved the heart of God that he had made man and he decided that he would destroy man and begin over, and he established a remnant and it was a family, Noah and his family. And he commanded him to build a huge boat that would take two of every living thing in it so when the flood came—and they’d never had rain before in the earth, it had been watered by a mist.

But when, he said, when the flood comes and this boat with this family and two of every living thing gets in it and the flood lifts them up from the earth that’s being destroyed, or from the human race that’s being destroyed, the flood that lifts the ark, or the remnant of my people, in Noah’s day, will come down in judgment upon the people of the earth.

oral-roberts-02

And HE said…

NOW, THERE’S GOT TO BE PREACHING WITH FIRE IN THE BELLY!

THERE’S GOT TO BE AN ANOINTING OF THE HOLY GHOST. MY CHURCH HAS TO WAKE UP BECAUSE WHAT I’M REVEALING IN THIS SIGN THAT “EVERY” EYE IS GOING TO, “EVERY” EAR IS GOING TO HEAR. THEY’LL SEE THIS THING. THEY WILL NOT NECESSARILY KNOW WHAT IT IS, BUT IT’S A WAKE CALL ABOUT THE SECOND COMING OF MY SON!

It’s not going to come and touch the earth. It’s going to be seen, it’s going to be heard, and people are going to become aware of the drama of the end time, of the second coming of Christ. When He splits the skies and comes back with His bride and takes over the reign of the earth and He destroys the Antichrist, who will arise at that time. He will destroy the followers of Antichrist and He’ll establish His kingdom upon the earth. And He said, “I cannot let anybody live and die without knowledge that my Son is coming back the second time.”

Kathryn Kuhlman: The Woman who Reintroduced the Holy Spirit to the Church

By Mario Murillo

In the last several days we have been issuing warning after warning about the destruction of America.  We endeavored to awaken a healthy and righteous urgency.  We culled truth from the most undeniable sources to make the case that we have no time to lose.

We made the case for drastic action– but we must balance it with hope. In this time of darkness and despair, as the church faces the greatest test in American history we should stop, take a deep breath and remember–  Psalms 103 commands us to, “forget not all of his benefits.”  One of those benefits is God’s power to undermine Satan with fresh and unexpected weapons.

Today we will remember one life, a woman who more than anyone else, reintroduced the Holy Spirit to the church in the 1960’s and 70’s.  We do this because the reward of her sacrifice is still radiating today.  We do this because she is living proof of the power of God to take the least likely vessel and showcase them in history altering power.  She was a weapon of choice and the devil never saw it coming.

Here are some quick facts about this woman for those who are not familiar with her.   “Kathryn Johanna Kuhlman was born in Concordia, Missouri, to German-American parents. She was “born-again” at the age of 14 in the Methodist Church of Concordia, and began preaching in the West at the age of sixteen in primarily Baptist Churches. Kuhlman traveled extensively around the United States and in many other countries holding “healing crusades” between the 1940s and 1970s. She had a weekly TV program in the 1960s and 1970s called I Believe In Miracles that was aired nationally. Kathryn Kuhlman is still dearly loved by both Pentecostals and Charismatics alike.”

What you just read would be good for a book report.  Here is the part you need to know.   Kathryn was enveloped by an anointing that was unmatched.  Crippled children were healed, for that matter every kind of disease was healed.

When she began to minister she faced an onslaught of criticism for being a divorced woman preacher…God had to do startling miracles to open doors for her ministry.  America got over her past and flocked to her services.  She set attendance records in the largest venues.

The miracles of healing were documented and became the most convincing body of evidence for miracles that the medical community has ever seen.   Renowned surgeons, heart specialists, and medical experts sat in the front rows of her meetings.

However her greatest contribution was her revelation of the Holy Spirit.  She was in Pittsburgh teaching something that was very new and real to her on the person of the Holy Spirit when a woman who was neither called out nor prayed over was instantly healed of terminal stomach cancer.

The disarming simplicity of her message on the Holy Spirit can be misleading.  Sometimes there is nothing more powerful than simplicity.   The church in general at that time, had fallen into a powerless funk in reaction to the “God is dead” movement and the surge of drugs in the youth culture.

Out of the blue God used her to ignite a Holy Spirit revival among Catholics.  Coupled with David Wilkerson’s book The Cross and the Switchblade millions worldwide received the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

It was Kathryn that caused a generation of Spirit-filled preachers to start regarding the Holy Spirit as a person and to submit their ministry to the guidance and power of this person that she so wonderfully described.   They relearned who carried the power, wisdom and the responsibility to advance the Gospel through the most evil time.

kuhlman meeting 1

What does Kathryn’s life say to us today?  She continually talked about “paying the price.”  Today we hear about “not having to pay the price.”  And for that deception we are paying an incalculable price by losing our nation.

She taught surrender to the person who could change history.   The greatest threat in the church is self-reliance.   The challenge today is beyond our wisdom, words, methods and programs.   The church as a whole must today renounce human wisdom in favor of the person of the Holy Spirit.

The same Holy Spirit that took, as she said, “a nobody” and raised her up to alter the course of history should inspire us to follow her example.   Take a few minutes and see the video where she speaks about the Holy Spirit.

Yesterday Franklin Graham said:  The Storm is coming.  When Obama refused to say that the 21 people who were beheaded were Christians we crossed into extremely dangerous territory. The president of the United States will look the other way as Islam persecutes Christianity.

David Wilkerson saw a coming storm of persecution and violence.  He saw devastation in New York with fire and massive death and rampant immorality.    Few believed him because at that time, unemployment was less than 5% and because Disney had just taken over the seedy areas of Times Square area and made it family oriented.  All of his words have come to pass.

In 1998 he predicted a coming storm and explains why the church would not listen to warnings:

David Wilkerson: “The majority of churchgoers today soundly reject all prophetic warnings of a coming storm. Indeed, the American church today is the most blatant “feel good” church in all of history. But, like Israel, we’re only experiencing the calm before the storm!

Likewise today, Christians by the multiple thousands are casting off the yoke of Christ, tossing aside all limits and restrictions. This attitude is prevalent in many of the books and magazines you find in Christian bookstores. It’s almost as if our leaders are saying, “Relax! God isn’t hard. He’s our Daddy, we’re all his kids, and we’re meant to have a good time. Don’t let anyone disturb your fun!”

However, he also said God gives advance warning and provides protection.

“Moreover, God is faithful to speak in times of prosperity, just before the fury of his judgment strikes. While the storm clouds are still gathering, he raises up prophetic voices all over the land. And, according to scripture, whenever a sinful nation was prosperous and at peace, God told his prophets to warn that the good times soon would end: “…the Lord hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity…” (Zechariah 7:7).

Beloved, if we’re going to face the coming storm, then we need to be prepared so nothing disturbs our spirit. And the only way to do that is to spend time in the father’s presence, beholding his face. We have to be shut in with him – on our knees – until we’re thoroughly persuaded he’s at our right hand!

God is clearly telling us, “Don’t be moved or agitated by anything you see. Keep your eyes focused on me – and you’ll retain your joy!” And according to David, Jesus testified, “…thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance” (Acts 2:28).

We always have to keep in mind, God’s only purpose in lovingly calling us back to himself is to protect us in such times of storm. Yet often in biblical history, when he gave these warnings, the people refused to listen: “He sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the Lord; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear” (2 Chronicles 24:19).

Almost always, God’s people grew weary of these warnings. This was especially true if a prophet cried out about a coming storm over a period of years, but the society only continued to be prosperous and at peace. Over time, the people simply switched off the prophet’s voice. They simply didn’t want to hear it anymore.”

Smith Wiggleworth

In 1927 Smith Wigglesworth said a storm was coming that would cause many to fall away.  This went against the grain of the roaring twenties giddiness and the heyday of Pentecostalism.  He added that a remnant would know God as never before and who would practice extravagant asking.

So God means me to press you another step forward. Begin to believe on extravagant asking, believing that God is pleased when you ask large things.

Steve Hill saw vision of a coming storm that had the potential to destroy millions of Christians because of false teaching running rampant through the church.

Steve Hill: The Lord began to speak. I trembled. The fresh, new snow represented the false teaching that is steadily falling on the ears of the body of Christ. It has been, and is, a heavy snowfall. The skiers represented believers and non-believers, trusting the resort for a safe and memorable experience. As Christians, we have been warned to be sober and vigilant (1 Peter 5:8). However, the present, awe-inspiring teachings have lulled many into a deeper sleep.

The layers upon layers of snow have been steadily covering the solid traditional truth of Christ. The truth is that foolish teaching in these days will become so fashionable even the most dedicated believer could become deceived (Matt. 24:24). It’s happening before our eyes. One spiritual leader said the other day: “You guys are old-fashioned ‘holiness,’ we are modern day ‘grace.’ You live in bondage while we can do anything we want.”

Pastors and teachers worldwide have succumbed to heretical teachings including universal reconciliation, deification of man, challenging the validity of the Word of God including His judgments, and even lifting any boundaries, claiming His amazing grace is actually “amazing freedom.” You are free to live according to your own desires. Sound familiar? “They had no king and did what was right in their own eyes” (Judges 17:6). These popular self-proclaimed ministers of the gospel are covering the “slopes” and will be held accountable for the spiritual death of millions.

Kenneth Hagin: I looked at the scroll again, and again I looked to see what I had read about. I saw the skyline of a large city. Looking closer, I saw the skyscrapers were burned-out hulls. Portions of the city lay in ruins. It was not written that just one city would be destroyed, burned, and in ruins, but that there would be many such cities.Kenneth Hagin

America’s Last Call

The scroll was written in the first person, and seemed as if Jesus Himself were speaking. I read, “America is receiving her last call. Some nations already have received their last call and never will receive another.”

Then, in larger print it said, “THE TIME OF THE END OF ALL THINGS IS AT HAND.” This statement was repeated four or five times. Jesus also said this was the last great revival. He went on to say, “All the gifts of the Spirit will be in operation in the Church in these last days, and the Church will do greater things than even the Early Church did. It will have greater power, signs, and wonders than were recorded in the Acts of the Apostles.”

Smith Wigglesworth: We have to see that these days have to come before the Lord can come. There has to be a falling away.  I want to speak to you very exactly. All the people which are pressing into and getting ready for this glorious attained place where they shall not be found naked, where they shall be blameless, where they shall be immovable, where they shall be purified by the power of the Word of God, have within them a consciousness of the very presence of God within, changing their very nature and preparing them for a greater thing, and causing them to be ready for translation.

This is the day of purifying. This is the day of holiness. This is the day of separation. This is the day of waking. O God, let us wake today! Let the inner spirit wake into consciousness that God is calling us.

There are in the world two classes of believers. There are believers which are disobedient, or I ought to say there are children which are saved by the power of God which are disobedient children. And there are children which are just the same saved by the power of God who all the time are longing to be more obedient.

Up to this present time the Lord’s word is for us, “Hitherto ye have asked nothing.” Surely you people that have been asking great things from God for a long time would be amazed if you entered into it with clear knowledge that it is the Master, it is Jesus, who has such knowledge of the mightiness of the power of the Father, of the joint union with Him, that nothing is impossible for you to ask. Surely it is He only Who could say “Hitherto you have asked nothing.”

Roberts

Oral Roberts was warning us about people who go to church only for themselves and of preachers who care nothing about reaching the world for Christ.   How can we deny that this is true?  We have reached the point where so many Christians are unteachable and Pastors are oblivious to the great commission.

Now let’s put all of these words together and allow God to show us what we are to do to be strong, to be effective and most of all not to be deceived by the storm that is upon us now.

David Wilkerson was trying to teach us that as God’s remnant in a storm of deception, violence and persecution we can be safe; we can even thrive.

Steve Hill placed a great deal of emphasis on the massive amount of false teaching that would rob the church of her preparation, blind her to the right choices she should make, and leave her vulnerable so that she alongside of the world is destroyed. But he also provided the hope that repentance and true submission to God would provide a shelter from the storm.

Kenneth Hagin was warning us that America had a final call.  I believe we are at that call right now.  He saw buildings burning and cities inundated by the judgment of God. However he also offered great hope that the people of God would even do greater things than the apostles did in the book of Acts.

Now listen with all of your heart, with all of your might and with zero distractions. This storm will damage every compromised carnal Christian.   Jesus was calling the foolish man who built his house on the sand someone who had heard the words of Christ but would not do them. That is the key right now. All of these warnings are for Christians.

Preparing the church for the coming stormSo what do you do to be prepared for this storm?  What steps do we take to obey the words of warning that come to us first from the Bible and then from the prophets of God?   Distilling the common threads that run through these four men’s prophecies I found these steps:

  1. Stop being stupid. Stop following preachers that are weakening you, using you, and denying the coming storm. Get out of the churches that look like nightclubs. Get away from the seductive teaching that denies hell, the blood of Christ, the inerrancy of the Bible and the urgency of the great commission.  Don’t follow their teaching.  For heaven’s sake do not give them any money.   Do not fellowship with believers who condone drunkenness or immorality.   This compromised Christianity is precisely the house built on the sand that the storm will destroy.
  2. Press into God. The common thread that runs through the messages of these 4 prophets is a call to intimacy with God, and that the result of that intimacy would be a special grace and power to live through anything in the last days.

Each one of them referenced a secret place in God that was available to us that would create a force field of peace and joy and boldness that would serve to deflect every lie, every threat, and every attack.

Every one of them spoke of a level of power that would be revealed to the last breed of Christian on the earth.  They describe a time of great extremes where wickedness and righteousness would ripen together.

Those who choose to press into God will embody a faith that cannot be shaken by any threat or headline.  They will have a presence of God continually on their life.  Not just some of the time but all of the time.   Disasters will go around them and regardless of how cataclysmic the events of the world become they will be conveyed safely into the kingdom of God.

  1. Enter the era of the extravagant asking. Wigglesworth’s reference to extravagant asking is a key to the final revival in the history of the world. He quoted Jesus who said “hitherto you have asked nothing, ask what you will and my father will give it to you that your joy may be full.” All of the prophets hold out a hope for America.   They are trying to sober us up so that we can ask God to spare our nation. We do not have to have the fires, riots and the judgment that is well deserved.

We can ask and receive resources beyond anything we’ve ever seen before.  We can preach with devastating conviction, conviction that can pierce the most heinous sins of our time.  We can ask and receive signs and wonders that exceed what the apostles saw.   We can watch God fill the coffers of anointed ministries beyond anything we can imagine or have ever seen before.

Finally: Truly God’s word is this, “I set before you life and death.”   You can walk away from this message and continue the denial that pervades the church but I promise you this storm is coming.   You can choose life, not just any life but the greatest life that God has offered any generation.

THE WIMPINESS OF MODERN MINISTERS

By Mario Murillo

Dear Ministers of America,

Two forces have collided within me to cause this blog.  The first is the true lions of God that I have studied in the last two weeks: David Wilkerson, Kenneth Hagin, Steve Hill, Oral Roberts, Kathryn Kuhlman, and Billy Graham.   The second is the unbearable line that Obama has now crossed

I want to make it clear that this is not directed at the many faithful men and women who preach a true Gospel and work hard to hold congregations together in the face of government and cultural persecution.  You are my heroes and I stand with you in the battle!

We have watched Obama run guns to Mexican drug cartels, expose Seal Team 6, refuse to save Americans in Benghazi and then cover it up, block the military from getting their votes counted, use the NSA to monitor our phone calls, emails and everything else, release drones into our own country without the benefit of the law, give 123 Technologies $300 Million and right after it declared bankruptcy and was sold to the Chinese, arm the Muslim Brotherhood, use the IRS to target conservatives and Christians, allow the Department Of Justice to spy on the press, authorize Sebelius to shake down health insurance executives, give SOLYNDRA $500 MILLION DOLLARS and 3 months later they declared bankruptcy and then the Chinese bought it, release10,000 illegal immigrants from jails and prisons, and falsely blaming the sequester,  threatened to impose gun control by Executive Order in order to bypass Congress, repeatedly violate the law requiring him to submit a budget no later than the first Monday in February,  had a 2012 vote where 115% of all registered voters in some counties voted 100% for Obama.

firsrt amendment copyAnd finally at the prayer breakfast he said these words, “And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ.”

Jim Gilmore former governor of Virginia said “The president’s comments this morning at the prayer breakfast are the most offensive I’ve ever heard a president make in my lifetime; He has offended every believing Christian in the United States.”

Then 21 Coptic Christians were beheaded and he cannot bring himself to call them Christians but He immediately calls the 3 students who were murdered in North Carolina Muslims.

As America and the world faces the greatest threat since Nazism, Obama refuses to name it the threat for what it is… Islamic Terror, and he has no plan to protect us from it.   More to the point, Obama will not act to save Christians who are being murdered every day. He sanitizes Islam and attacks Christians is a way that is now pathologically delusional.

There is no longer any doubt what American preachers must do about Obama. Many will refuse to do what needs to be done and I am going to suggest, very strongly that they are wimps.

However, if it is any consolation, I am not going to use the names that Jesus did in the Bible for preachers who abandon their duties:  Blind guides (Matt. 23:16) Fools (Matt. 23:17). Whited sepulchers…full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness (Matt. 23:27) Serpents (Matt. 23:33). Vipers (Matt. 23:33). Hypocrites! (Luke 11:44).  and  Hidden graves (Luke 11:44)…

I am just going to call you a wimp.

What we must do is get in our pulpits and rebuke Obama for his insulting remarks and acts toward Christians.  He must be repudiated by consensus for his Christophobic, and Anti-Semitic actions.  We must tell our people to openly oppose the Godless America he is building.

The church must rise up as one voice and declare that enough is enough and that we will not tolerate Obama’s persecution of the church in America or anywhere in the world.

According to statistics there are 500,000 preachers in America.  Imagine if half a million voices stand together to rebuke and oppose this wannabe tyrant and his anti-Church and anti-American agenda?

There is no doubt we should do it.  There is no version of what is happening today that justifies silence.   But will we do it or continue to endanger our sheep by being wimps?  What do you say?
