NINE LITTLE WORDS

We cannot deny our lives have been disrupted to an extreme that Americans have not experienced since the Second World War.

Suddenly, we have been plunged into a world that we had previously only seen in disaster movies. All the professional sports that most Americans worship are gone. California’s children will stay home probably until the fall. Las Vegas has been shut down.  Sin City’s credo was, “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” but now it’s, “Nothing is happening here.”

We have no idea what will ultimately happen to our economy. We are huddled in our homes trying to figure out the best way to ride this out—hoping the doomsday voices are wrong.

What bothers me the most is the behavior of so-called Christians on social media. I have never seen so much self-promotion. Videos infest the internet with “words from God.” Some say this will turn out to be nothing. Others tell us it is the end. They gargle with gunpowder and then shoot their mouths off. They dispense silliness in the name of God. All they really crave is attention. You should document their predictions and hold them accountable for false prophecy when this is all over.

There is only one reason I am writing this and there is only one group I am writing it to. I am writing this to you because God has done an epic miracle in my soul, and this is a message for the remnant of God who have been hidden until this very moment. They are in this crisis by design. They are in for an amazing surprise.

This is not for the carnal Christian. If that’s you, you still need one more lap around reality before you will have a heart for the Glory that God will reveal in His core believers. So here goes…a message to God’s hidden people who are groping for answers for what to do during this quarantine and pandemic.

Like you, I had to deal with the sudden and shocking change brought about by the coronavirus quarantine. There are many who are going through things far worse than I am. But what I went through was still pretty bad.

A week ago, I felt as if I had lost everything. The coronavirus scare closed down our tent crusades. For me and for our team it is a devastating loss. I am not exaggerating: I truly collapsed before God from sheer sorrow.

Out of it, God led me to nine words that David spoke. He said nine words that tell the prophetic core exactly what to do in this crisis. I present to you what every pastor, leader, business person, parent, and young person who is under a heavy call of God needs to do right now.

You will find the answer in the 30th chapter of 1 Samuel. When David lost everything and his men were ready to stone him, he did something remarkable. The Bible says, “He encouraged himself in the Lord.” That is amazing enough, but it’s what he did next that’s even more amazing.

To get anything out of these words, you must first grasp the utter despair that David felt before he spoke them. Remember, David was a man who had been anointed and over whom prophecy had been spoken that he would be King, but in an instant, he became as poor as a slave.

Here’s the picture: 1 Samuel 30:3 “So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive. Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep.” Filled with despair, David’s own men were about to kill him.

The nine words I am going to show you were the greatest psalm David ever spoke. In this ‘accidental psalm,’ David glorified God like he had never glorified God before.

Here are the nine words: “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?”

Don’t let their simplicity fool you! David glorified God in what he did not say, as much as in what he did say. Even though he felt rage and grief he did not insult God’s character. He did not rail against his circumstances. David did not sin with his mouth. There was no, “Why did you let this happen to me?” Or, “How can I trust you when you can’t even protect my family?”

David was practicing what he preached in Psalm 19:9, “The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.”

From David’s example, I knew better than to waste valuable time rehearsing the disastrous effects of the coronavirus on our ministry. I needed something else. And so do you.

David did not torture himself by dwelling on why it had gotten so bad. He knew the goodness, mercy and wisdom of God. He didn’t even ask for comfort. Think of that!

No, he knew he needed to ask for something else.  Can you guess what that is? He needed direction. DIRECTION! And that, my friend, is what you need most.

Take Mario Murillo Ministries for an example. We are in deep prayer about what to do next. My concern is not the tent crusades. When the lock down is lifted we will be ready. We will move with all the force of the pent up zeal and fire in our bones!

No, my real concern is what God would have us do in the meantime. Somehow, I believe God is about to reveal to us an amazing method and an idea that will launch us to harvest souls in a way we never imagined.

Yes, in the natural, this is a terrifying situation. Cities have shut down. Businesses are being destroyed, and people are dying.  Still, nothing could be worse than wringing our hands and wallowing in vain imaginations about why this happened, and what may happen next.

The Holy Spirit is waiting to give us marching orders. He wants to give us the wisdom necessary to not only stay safe, but to exploit this crisis for the Glory of God.

God answered David and gave him a promise: “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all” (1 Samuel 30:8).

That was all David needed to launch out and go attack the enemy. He didn’t know how it would happen but he did not let his men slow him down. He ordered them to mount up and ride! When his men saw David on his horse, it reminded them of all the past victories that came from following David into battle.

David sat high and looked at them with a look that spoke volumes, it said, in essence, “Do you want to kill me or do you want to get your wives and kids back?” They followed David, rode after the enemy, miraculously found them, and got back everything and more besides.

You need to talk to your soul and ask yourself, “Do you want to sit here paralyzed by fear or do you want to get up and follow God into total restoration of everything the devil has stolen?”

As far as Mario Murillo Ministries is concerned we will win souls! No matter what. I solemnly promise you that the enemy will pay. This crisis will not lessen our soul winning—in the end it will increase it!

This is what Paul said in Philippians 1:12-14, “I want to report to you, friends, that my imprisonment here has had the opposite of its intended effect. Instead of being squelched, the Message has actually prospered.”

We all need to follow David’s example to get two things: direction and a promise. You will learn how to suppress fear and confusion. You will have no doubt that God is with you and your loved ones, to protect and provide.

You will realize that you have been secretly undergoing preparation for this very moment. Expect to hear from Jesus! Expect to know exactly what to do and how to do it.

This virus is going to pass. But the damage we will live with if we give in to fear and hesitation will not go away. You will look back on this for the rest of your life and thank God you did not give in to fear or disobey the deep work of the Holy Spirit

All it took in David’s case was nine simple words, and an impossible situation was turned into an epic victory: and the body of Christ in America is also going to experience another epic victory! Hallelujah!

NINE LITTLE WORDS

California’s Governor Gavin Newsom just tonight predicted that 56% of all Californians will be infected by the coronavirus. He just projected a humanitarian disaster beyond imagination, in the last place on earth you would ever expect it. But, if you don’t believe him or the leftist media, I don’t blame you: they have told so very many lies.

But we cannot deny our lives have been disrupted to an extreme that we have not experienced since the Second World War.

What do you do when you feel called to do something big but you do not have the resources to do it?

bigGod has called you to do something great but you do not have the resources to do it.  What do you do?  Should you give up your passion and settle for an affordable vision?

This is the twilight zone.  You stand between the natural and the supernatural and you have to make a choice.  Don’t feel bad, very single vessel of God that was ever used of God has been here and has had to face the same agonizing question:  “Will I operate on human power or God’s power?”

In Genesis 16:2 we see the origin of most of the wars in history: “So Sarai said to Abram, ‘See now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.’ And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai.”  Because they saw no way for God to live up to His promise of a son, they took matters into their own hands.  What a disaster!

Yet, I witness this same sin being committed by many today who are trying to make God’s will happen.

Choosing to surrender to the supernatural is the hardest choice you will ever make especially at this time!  Demonic power has risen to a new level.  Americans have hardened their hearts to truth.  The church has stopped investing in souls.  This is truly a dark time for fresh vision.

youth revival

Where do I stand on the question of the supernatural?   For me there is no question.

Let me put it this way…there is unprecedented hatred toward Christian movements outside the church and massive unbelief about new movements within the church.  Therefore, this is the perfect time for you to start a movement!

Like never before, God is calling people to live in the impossible.  The times demand it, the shortness of time requires it and the fact is…nothing else will get the job done now.

In other words, you never really had a choice. Miracle provision is no longer the wispy aspiration of spooky seers.  We are now in a situation where every day and in every way we must have miracles and we must know how to draw on invisible resources.

How do you get from where you are to a life of daily miracles?

1. Realize that you are already supernatural. Paul’s rebuke to the Galatians is clear: “Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?” –Galatians 3:3.

It is not a matter of starting a new life in the supernatural but retracing your steps to see at what point you began to take matters into your own hands.  You can’t help but make a painful discovery: You saw miracles, you saw God provide but when it was all over you reverted to human ways of living.

A good way to fix this is through worship.  Raise your heart and hands and say “Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”- Psalm 103:1-5

This is when it hits you: God has kept me through astonishing storms.  I am supernatural.

Federal Heights shots 008

2. Dare to make decisions based on what God has said to you and not on human reasoning. From this point on, make decisions that will grate against your flesh and conventional rationale.

Proverbs 3:5-10 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.

9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.”

3Endure the dark night of the soul. No supernatural provision ever came without a test. It always involves waiting.  Once you have hung your hopes on a miracle you must endure the gap time between promise and fulfillment.

They say that when God closes one door He opens another…but I say that it can be hell in the hallway!  Now you must remember who you are trusting.  Remember His character.  He is all powerful and utterly trustworthy.

What do you do in the meantime?  The best advice comes from Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”

Abraham couldn’t wait, King Saul couldn’t wait and the results were devastating.  You can make a different choice and do it by seizing the promise that God will strengthen your heart as you wait.

The most important result of waiting for heaven’s provision is that you will build a track record of miracles that will weaken the enemy’s future attacks.

Finally, the world needs what God has put within you.  It needs it now. Miracle based believers are the weapon of choice in this hour.

God wants to do something big with you…don’t blow it!

August 8th, 2013,

The darkness gathers.  The clouds of wickedness overtake the land.  There you sit wanting desperately to be used of God.  You want your gifts released.  You want your vision to grow and prosper.  Yet, it feels like a glass wall is holding you back.  What do you do?   God want s to use you to do amazing things…don’t blow right before the finish line!    Check these things:

Make sure you Know the difference: Entitlement versus Expectation.   When Jesus said, “He who is faithful over little will be faithful over much,” it is both a warning and a promise.  I believe it warns us about two attitudes: Entitlement and Expectation.  These look alike but they are polar opposites.

Entitlement tells you to wait to give it your best when you are in a job worthy of your talent. When the “entitled” do take a position that is “beneath” them, they work as if they are just passing through.  This always backfires because there are always at least two people watching you.  The first is your current boss. If they sense that you feel entitled to more, they are already looking for your replacement.  The other who is watching you is unseen, someone who has the power to promote you.  There is always someone watching you who has the power to bless you.

Entitlement makes small beginnings sting.  Zechariah 4:10 asks, “who has despised the day of small beginnings?” The answer is, the entitled.   Great works of God start small and require hard work.  Entitlement doubles your load.  You not only face the hard work that always accompanies success but you are also grieving at results that are probably better than should have been expected.  The warning in, ““He who is faithful over little will be faithful over much,” is if you are not faithful over little, you will never get to be “over much!”

Expectation: Expectation says, “Keep going, I can get there from here!”  Joy and confidence that God’s blessing is inevitable and that it can come from the most unpromising sources.   The woman with the issue of blood said within herself, “if I could but just touch the hem of His garment I shall be whole.”  Expectation finds beauty in the smallest task because God is in the task.  Expectation says, “Keep going, I can get there from here!”  Expectation is a bulldozer that plow under the most discouraging mounds of adversity and setbacks. The promise of Jesus is, ““He who is faithful over little will be faithful over much.”  God will remembers those who were faithful.  He will promote them to big things.

Expectation also works the other way.  It shows you when your current location is a prison and not a promise.  Psalm 62:5 My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.  If a leader does not believe in your gift and sees you as cheap labor then realize that it may be time to move on.

Go out only at the command of God.   This quote is from God calling, The world has always seen service for me to be activity.  Only those near to me have seen that a life apart, of prayer, may, and does so often, accomplish more that all of the service man can offer me. If man lived apart with Me and only went out to serve at My direct command My Spirit could operate more and accomplish truly mighty things.”

Stop human striving in order to do mighty things. Not only can bad leaders rob your life, you can do it to yourself!   X-ray the demands of your day.  Why do you do them?  You will see things that people say you must do.  You will see things that you only think are vital.  You will see things that you are doing that only God can do. Martha whined to Jesus about Mary.  Jesus said, “She has chosen the better part.” Let inspiration take the place of aspiration.

I know you are champing at the bit, but let the timing and power of God work through you.  Never are we tested more than when finances are scarce.  We want to take care of those we love and yes, we must be diligent but it is dangerous when we move from diligence to hustling.  Many preachers hustle bookings, many business people go into panic partnerships and it always ends the same way.  Instead of solving the crisis new problems are created.  We look back and regret that we did not wait for the God sent opportunity that would have launched us forward.

If you have a child then for certain you have experienced their impatience.  You know that they do not realize how much good you want to do for them in good time.   We are exactly the same.  We grow antsy when things don’t happen soon enough and losing sight of our Father’s good intentions for us, we take matters into our own hands.

God Calling adds this final quote “The world does not need supermen but supernatural men.  People who will persistently turn the self out of their lives and let Divine Power work through them.  Do not fear unemployment! God always plenty of work to be done and always pays His workers well.”

Two Israeli archaeologists announced that they have found a palace and royal storehouse that belonged to King David. The two buildings are the largest structures standing during the tenth century BCE to have been found in the territory of the Kingdom of Judah.

The discovery was made at Khirbet Qeiyafa near Beit Shemesh southwest of Jerusalem, said Professor Yossi Garfinkel of the Hebrew University and Saar Ganor of the Israel Antiquities Authority on Thursday. Over the past year, the researchers uncovered the two buildings at the site, which is believed by some to be the fortified Judean city of Shaarayim. According to the biblical record, after David smote Goliath, the Philistines were slaughtered on the road to Shaarayim as they fled. Shaarayim means “two gates,” and Khirbet Qeiyafa has two gates in its walls.

The two archaeologists identified one building as David’s palace and the other as a massive royal storeroom. The excavation of the site as a whole has stretched on for seven years.

When David would visit this important regional center, “he definitely didn’t live in a simple home,” Ganor told The Times of Israel.

“Khirbet Qeiyafa is the best example exposed to date of a fortified city from the time of King David,” read a statement released by the researchers. “The southern part of a large palace that extended across an area of c. 1,000 sq m was revealed at the top of the city. The wall enclosing the palace is c. 30 m long and an impressive entrance is fixed it through which one descended to the southern gate of the city, opposite the Valley of Elah. Around the palace’s perimeter were rooms in which various installations were found – evidence of a metal industry, special pottery vessels and fragments of alabaster vessels that were imported from Egypt.”

“This is the only site in which organic material was found — including olive seeds — that can be carbon-14 dated” to the period of King David’s reign, Israel Antiquities Authority spokeswoman Yoli Schwartz told The Times of Israel.

In addition, the location of the buildings fit the requirements of an Iron Age palace. “The palace is located in the center of the site and controls all of the houses lower than it in the city. From here one has an excellent vantage looking out into the distance, from as far as the Mediterranean Sea in the west to the Hebron Mountains and Jerusalem in the east. This is an ideal location from which to send messages by means of fire signals.”

Garfinkel and Ganor believe that the pillared building, 15 meters (49 feet) long by 6 meters wide in the north of the city, was used as a royal storeroom. “It was in this building the kingdom stored taxes it received in the form of agricultural produce collected from the residents of the different villages in the Judean Shephelah,” they said. “Hundreds of large store jars were found at the site whose handles were stamped with an official seal as was customary in the Kingdom of Judah for centuries.”

They see the finds as evidence of centralized construction and royal administrative organization during King David’s rule. “This is unequivocal evidence of a kingdom’s existence, which knew to establish administrative centers at strategic points,” they argued. “To date no palaces have been found that can clearly be ascribed to the early tenth century BCE as we can do now. Khirbet Qeiyafa was probably destroyed in one of the battles that were fought against the Philistines circa 980 BCE. The palace that is now being revealed and the fortified city that was uncovered in recent years are another tier in understanding the beginning of the Kingdom of Judah.”

In light of the find, the Israel Antiquities Authority and the Nature and Parks Authority are working with local planning bodies to cancel the impending construction of a neighborhood nearby, and hope to reserve the area around the site as a national park.

In 2008, a pottery sherd with five lines of text was discovered at the site. Many scholars believe it to be early Hebrew writing, possibly referring to the ascent of King Saul to the throne. Others argue it features Israelite social rules, while some dispute the idea that it is written in Hebrew at all. The sherd currently sits in Jerusalem’s Israel Museum.

Garfinkel and Ganor believe that what remained of the palace was further damaged during the Byzantine period when a fortified farmhouse was built on the site.

Another prominent Israeli archaeologist has long claimed to have uncovered David’s Jerusalem palace, mentioned in II Samuel: “Now Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, along with cedar logs and carpenters and stonemasons, and they built a palace for David.” In 2005, Eilat Mazar, granddaughter of the “dean” of biblical archaeology, Benjamin Mazar, began digging in the oldest portion of Jerusalem, the City of David. She focused on Area H, above the Stepped Stone Structure, a massive Jebusite Iron Age fortified building.

She believed that the spot on the northern edge of the City of David was a prime candidate for the site of David’s palace. II Samuel states that after David heard that the Philistines were gathering to make war against him, he “went down to the stronghold” from his palace. She decided to dig in  Area H, the only part of the city higher than the fortress, from which King David would have gone down.

Her hypothesis was also supported by British archaeologist Kathleen Kenyon’s discovery of elegant masonry in the same area.

“When I told my grandfather of my idea about the possible location of David’s palace,” Mazar wrote in Biblical Archaeology Review, “he was enthusiastic about it. ‘Where, exactly,’ he asked me, ‘did Kenyon find the piles of ashlars [nicely hewn rectangular stones] together with the proto-Aeolic (sometimes called proto-Ionic) capital? Wasn’t it right next to the place you’re talking about?’ Indeed, it was. When I ran to check Kenyon’s reports, I confirmed that ashlar stones and an elegant proto-Aeolic capital had been found literally at the foot of the scarp at the southeastern edge of the structure in Area H. And this was just the kind of impressive remains that one would expect to come from a tenth-century B.C.E. king’s palace.”

Mazar found a massive public building there that she called the Large Stone Structure. In addition to Kenyon’s earlier discoveries there, Mazar uncovered pottery sherds from the very end of the Iron Age I period, about 1000 BCE, when David is believed to have captured Jerusalem.

However, Mazar’s conclusion is controversial. Archaeologists from Tel Aviv University contend that her overly literal reading of the biblical text skews her analysis of the archaeological record.
