Love him or hate him, Donald Trump has flipped the script for Christians in America.

Toppling political correctness created a dangerous and wonderful opportunity.  We’ve not had an occasion like this since the Great Awakening in the 18th Century. If we obey God, we will see a greater revival than the Jesus movement.  If we blow this, it will be an unqualified disaster.

If the forces on the left regroup, America could enter a spiritual nuclear winter.  This moment has “ONE LAST CHANCE” written all over it.

How do we handle this one last chance?  Paul grappled with the same question.  He said, “For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.” -1 Corinthians 16:9

Not only do we have Trump, we are surrounded by prophetic words that promise a massive harvest.   But, what will touch off the explosion that will sweep millions into the Kingdom?

I have just experienced a devastating personal loss

I have just experienced a devastating personal loss.  I have been crying a lot and I am in mourning.  I am overcome with a towering sense of sadness.

Some have tried to tell me that I shouldn’t feel loss.  It has become politically incorrect in the church to mourn the loss of loved ones.  Recently, a famous preacher said this at a funeral: “if you really have faith, you will not feel any sadness at all.”

However, Acts 8: 2 says, “And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.”  That is what devout men do…they grieve over loss.

Jesus mourned at Lazarus’ grave: “And He said, ‘Where have you laid him?’ They said to Him, ‘Lord, come and see.’ Jesus wept.  Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!”-John 11:34-36.

These verses overflow with meaning for those who lose loved ones.  Here was the creator of faith weeping.  How can it be unbelief if Jesus mourned?

Moreover, He was about to raise Lazarus from the dead so why weep?   The Jews who were watching understood why.  He wept because He loved Lazarus.  That is why I am weeping…I loved my friend Dusty Kemp.

You never heard of Dusty Kemp?  Well then, I am about to enrich your life.  Dusty abruptly went to heaven on Sunday night December 11^th. A week before that, I stood in his pulpit and called him the best kept secret in America.  It is high time for that secret to get out.

When he taught the Bible, it came alive.  He parked his soul in the Gospels and never ceased to amaze the seeker and satisfy the hungry.  You always got light and a fresh angle to the Word of God.

Repeatedly, the question crashed in my soul: How could such a mighty man die?  The Holy Spirit took me to these verses: 2 Kings 13: 14 “Elisha had become sick with the illness of which he would die.”  Verse 21: “So it was, as they were burying a man, that suddenly they spied a band of raiders; and they put the man in the tomb of Elisha; and when the man was let down and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet.”

What can kill a man whose bones raise the dead die?  The answer is a broken heart.  Elisha was banned from prophesying for almost 40 years.  The counsel of God that burned within him used him up because it was rejected.

Dusty preached against the grain in a religious culture that valued size and fame.  He did it to his own hurt.  It shortened his life.

Dusty was a contradiction that increased his pain.  He loved people and didn’t want to lose anyone.  He also loved truth. At great personal cost, he would do what was right.

He would constantly analyze things to death to be sure he was doing the right thing. This also shortened his life.  I was a constant source of frustration to me. I begged him more times than I can count  to stop doing this.

He was not a professional pastor.  He winged it with a singular desperation to do what he believed was right.

He sacrificed himself in his humor.  He could laugh at himself better than anyone I ever knew.

He tried to seem tough but he was the quintessential softie.  Here is the last text we shared: Me: “I am in your office barking orders so your staff feels at home.”  Dusty: “Awesome! Thank you. Fire someone.”  You see there it is…he is talking big about something he could never do without great inner anguish.

He was hard on himself but forgiving to others.  If there was a question about who was right he would find a way to take the blame.

Did Dusty Kemp accomplish a lot with his life?  He would say no.   But he accomplished more that we could ever imagine.  You may not see it at first because our mega church values only reward those who build empires.

Here’s the thing…the goal is not to engrave your name on monuments, grand buildings or sprawling campuses.  You are supposed to engrave your name on the hearts of people.   A man of God’s legacy is in the souls who were transformed, the minds that reverberate with your teachings and the stories that people share about you.  By this measure my friend Dusty was a spectacular success.  Untold numbers of people all over creation carry his legacy.

That is why New Life Church will continue to thrive.  Mary Kemp will be graced with special power.  The church’s wonderful ministries will continue to excel.  I can’t wait to be a part of it.

Dusty Kemp was not just my friend he was a great man, a wonderful intellect, a great soul of matchless courage, one of the great men of the earth—and yet we have no right to bow down to his memory simply because he was great. Great orators, great soldiers, great lawyers, often use their gifts for selfish reasons. We should pay a tribute of love and respect to Dusty Kemp because he used his matchless power for the good of man and for the Glory of Christ.

Compromise is wrong, dangerous and silly

I am going to give you some very real hope for America!  I see an army rising up.  Something glorious is coming to our nation in the form of a fiery new breed of believer that will carry awesome power.  Here is the first installment of There’s an Army Rising Up. 

 

There’s an army rising up:  Part one: Compared to what God is sending compromise is wrong, dangerous and silly.

I reposted an article about Hillsong by Andrew Walker.  Some were offended at me for posting. However, I stand by my decision to post it because it is high time that we confronted the horrendous damage that is being done by compromise.

In a week that brought us so much gloom doom and division one thing stands out to me.  The church does not know how to respond to persecution.

Let’s get this one thing straight.  The radical voices in the gay community would love America to believe that overnight Christianity morphed into a hate group that threatens civil rights.  Suddenly the Bible teaches hate and oppression of minorities?   So they came up with this hilarious solution in Houston:  In the name of civil rights they would erase the civil rights of Pastors.

Only a simpleton will take the bait and think that we should tailor our message to this unambiguous form of black mail, or believe the lie that they want to liberate humanity from oppressive religious doctrine.

If that were the case they would also target Islam.  In Islamic nations like Iran homosexuality carries the death penalty!   So why is the gay mayor of Houston and other gay activists silent in their opposition to sharia law or be- headings?

 

The reason is clear.  There is a coalition much wider than just Gay activists that is in play. This is all about control.  It is not about marriage or equal rights.  They know that the foundation of America is Christian.  They must get rid of that foundation in order to see their grand dream of a totally secular state.

Another reason for their double standard on Islam is that their lead man, Obama is sympathetic to Moslems.  The women’s movement did this with Bill Clinton.  Because they saw him as a force to help feminists, they overlooked his criminal treatment of women.

In the case of Obama they not only ignore Islam but also the fact that he is the most inept, malice driven president in history.

Now let’s get to something that really makes the argument for compromise fall apart: the idea that we can make the hatred go away.  We must know why we are hated! Jesus told us in Matthew 24:9 that we would be hated by all nations.   While we should never incite anger we should also be aware that no matter what we do, we will be hated.

Look at another way:  many of the 1.6 billion Muslims in the world hate the compassion they see in the Christian message.  For them we are too tolerant in matters of marriage, sexuality and equal rights.   The same logic that says, “hey let’s soften our view of homosexuality to reach New York City could also say “hey let’s turn up the heat beyond Scripture’s demands to be relevant to those 1.6 billion people.

David Wilkerson reached thousands in New York City with a message that never compromised. Times Square Church welcomes transvestites, prostitutes, addicts and everyone else.  Nobody ever felt condemned or unloved by the call to repent that came from the burning heart of this man of God and continues to come from this powerful church.

The idea of veiling the Gospel in order to stay relevant is subtly wicked.  It rips the fate of the church out of the hands of the Holy Spirit and places it at the mercy of marketing.  It implies that without rebranding the church will die.   Jesus said “On this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it!”

 

So why am I do I so vehemently reject this compromise?  I reject it because it plays into the hands of the enemy.  It facilitates the takeover of America.  It gives the Church the worst possible model. It tells us to be giddy and obsequious kitty cats when we need to be roaring from every pulpit, kitchen, classroom, street corner and roof top, “AMERICA REPENT BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!”

 

 

 

Tomorrow:  How God can make us relevant and effective against evil in this critical moment.

 

 

IT HAPPENED IN HOUSTON

Luke 1:1-4 says, “Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us,  2 just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us, 3 it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus, 4 that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed.”

There is no way that I would put this last weekend in Houston on an equal par with the first 4 verses of Luke.  On the other hand, I can relate to Luke in the sense that something beautiful, monumental and long range happened right before my eyes in Houston and an orderly record must be written.

My great challenge is to do it justice.  You are bombarded by reports and in all honesty, I do not want the unique power of what happened in Houston to be lost on you because of my faulty communication.

In a nutshell, this weekend was God saying, “The times you live in are dark, intense, draining and vicious.   Let me give you an encounter that will more than match the devastation of your time.”

Sunday night the presence of God fell and blanketed us.  I had a full sermon prepared but God Himself decided to preach an illustrated sermon.   His anointing rose up in me with such force that I could hear my own voice off in the distance as if I was speaking to myself from the end of a tunnel.  He took over, granting such details of individual lives that it should have terrified me.  He sent His word and healed them!  I was a mere bystander.

In one instance, God revealed to man that his throat was being consumed by acid from his stomach and that he feared he had heart disease because of the pain in his chest.  Next, the Holy Spirit said to me, an unworthy servant, “have that man pray for the woman in front of him and he will be healed.” Just as he began praying for her, I could hear my voice rattling off the number of years she suffered and where she suffered and what the medicines were that she had to take and what the damage was from all of her treatments.

That man felt power rage through his hand as he prayed for her.  Jesus wiped out her diseases!  In another instance, God struck me and I charged to the back of the hall and yelled “asthma!” I found myself pointing at a family.  The family was stunned because all of them had asthma!  Again, words rolled out of this vessel of clay that painted a picture of their neighborhood near a petrochemical plant and how God was healing them.  In unison, they received a miracle!  This was a moment I will never forget.

That night ended up seeing scores of miracles equal and greater than the ones I just described.  This pattern of glaring detail was repeated over and over again and is shared with you out of fear and with grave insistence that Christ receive all glory!

The second night was even more intense.  Jesus dramatically healed scores of people.  But that was only the beginning.  After I preached about Hezekiah restoring the Passover in Judah, I looked at Pastor Dusty Kemp and the anointing for prophecy enveloped me.  God began to speak a word of healing, destiny and breakthrough such as I have never given in my life.

Not one soul in that building could have denied the concussion of glory that accompanied that word from God.  This pastor was being unleashed on the powers of darkness on Houston.  This family of believers at New Life Church was like jewelry that was being melted down to be recreated as an entirely new jewel and weapon.  They were once a congregation, but now they are reappearing as an army fitted for the saving of a nation!

The most wonderful of the wonderfulness is the harvest of hundreds of souls that came forward and repented in these three services.  Some many priceless things happened but none more glorious that the hordes of young people who surrendered to Christ!

How Sunday Morning Will Save or Destroy America: Part Two.

In a blog earlier today, I told you about how in the last several days, two Sunday morning services have been the site of  massive train wrecks that have devastated the cause of Christ in America.  However, yesterday I witnessed the epic power of a Sunday Morning Service in Houston.  

Before I tell you about my experience yesterday let me make an urgent point:  One million Americans left their church this year but many did not leave because they backslid.   They left because of a ravenous desire for more.  They want more intense worship, more messages that will arm them to take a city.  They want more of the presence of God. They want public calls for sinners to repent and come to God and they want more of the moving of the Spirit in power!  The number one complaint that they have with their church is that they cannot feel the presence of God.

Nevertheless, there are many Churches that prove to us that Sunday Morning can be an awesome weapon for America’s restoration.  I call these Ground Zero Churches

They are zones of the presence of God.  Matthew Henry describes the zone, “He can, when he pleases, strike awe upon the worst of men, by the tokens of his presence in the assemblies of the faithful, and force them to acknowledge that God is with them of a truth.”

There are many examples of places that oozed God and dropped hardened sinners to their knees. The zone will replace our strenuous effort to entertain and convince people.  The presence of God will do to the sinner what we could never do.

They have a God given tractor beam.    God gave the lamp stands to the seven churches of Revelation to make them a magnet for hungry souls: A regional signal that was sent by the Holy Spirit that tells the harvest where to go.  This does not replace but enhances outreach.

They are a giant church full of giants.  You hear some pastors boast of the size of their church saying “we are a giant church and others claim “I do not want a giant church.  I want a church full of giants”. God wants both, a giant church full of giants!  The ground zero church produces leaders of true authority. Even the entry-level officers have the firepower to set Satan scurrying for cover!

They are an ongoing miracle rally.  The ground zero church does not sit and hope that their favorite miracle evangelist will come around soon.  They move in signs and wonders.  They see healing as a normal part of church life.  God crowns each service with gifts of power expressed freely and in order. They have embraced the simple promise that “these signs will follow them that believe”.

A Ground Zero Church is the epicenter of God’s dealing for a region. They are a body of believers that have made the supreme covenant with God.

Yesterday I witnessed the explosive potential of a Sunday morning service in Houston at New Life Church.  I have heard worship bands all over the world but I never felt anything anywhere that was more overpowering.  It was worship that can render the sinner helpless and launch the Christian into heights of power to serve God.

Pastor Dusty Kemp stood ostensibly to encourage the people to be in our Living Proof event for the next two nights.  Instead he delivered one of the most wonderful calls to action that I have ever heard.  It was convicting by not condemning.  It radiated with urgency but with great hope.  It laid out the national disaster but made a convincing case for victory.

Even the offering was compelling.  When Diane Devalle stood to receive the offering she painted a picture of the actual condition of our nation and the world. The effect on the audience was undeniable we wanted to give, serve and believe God for big things.

Most evangelists want the pulpit ASAP but on this Sunday Morning it was not an issue.  It is not even important for me to talk about my sermon.   On this day all of the elements of power came forth.  The power of the Church of Jesus was on display and their rising faith was not just a massive breathe of fresh air but a harbinger to Satan that there are still Sunday morning services across our nation that flare up and fan out to envelope our nation.

How Sunday Morning Will Save or Destroy America.

In the last several days, two Sunday morning services have been the site of  massive train wrecks that have devastated the cause of Christ in America.  However, yesterday I witnessed the epic power of a Sunday Morning Service in Houston.  Before I share my experience yesterday consider this:

“We must now have the courage to take the final step and call homophobia and heterosexism what they are. “They are sin. Homophobia is a sin. Heterosexism is a sin. Shaming people for who they love is a sin. Only when all our churches say that clearly and boldly and courageously will our LGBT youth be free to grow up in a culture that totally embraces them as they fully are.”  These words came from the lips of Rev. Gary Hall, the dean of Washington’s National Cathedral, in a recent Sunday sermon.

Consider that the Pastor of what we consider our national church not only codified homosexuality, he flipped the script and accused those who stand for Biblical righteousness of sinning.  Peter LaBarbera said it best: “Obviously, ‘hating’ homosexuals or being so fearful that you fail to offer the hope of the gospel to people caught up in homosexual sin is wrong, but that’s not what Hall is talking about here. He is ‘redefining Christianity’ and sin itself in a way that flips the truth of the Word of God on its head. … The danger is that this new heretical ‘sin-affirming Christianity’ is spreading in the evangelical Church.”

The harm done by this is laid out by Jennifer LeClaire from Charisma Magazine: “Consider the significance of his words in the context of the setting in which he preached them. The National Cathedral’s vision is to be a catalyst for spiritual harmony in our nation, renewal in churches, reconciliation among faiths and compassion in our world. The funerals of 21 presidents and the inaugurations of five presidents of the United States have been held there. The fact that Hall stood in such a place and uttered such words is more than telling about the spiritual state of our nation.”

Meanwhile on the opposite coast John MacArthur used his Sunday Morning pulpit to declare war on 550 million Pentecostals worldwide saying that they are all going to hell. John’s teachings are heard by millions and this influence makes this especially disturbing.

In just two Sunday services incalculable damage had been done by both extremes.  However, just as much damage, if not more, is inflicted every Sunday in Churches all over America.

One million Americans left their church this year but many did not leave because they backslid.   They left because of a ravenous desire for more.  They want more intense worship, more messages that will arm them to take a city.  They want more of the presence of God. A Nation that is Beyond Words.  By Mario Murillo

There are still some who believe that America can be talked into Christ.  However, a growing number believe that America is now beyond words.  I agree wholeheartedly.

It is never safe to describe the “mood of America.  No matter how hard you try, you will generalize. My take is that America is pagan, addicted, digitally distracted, angry, depressed and skeptical.

While that description sounds like I cannot find much good in Americans the radical opposite is the case.  I believe Americans are still the best in the important categories of faith, generosity, and courage.  The current condition of Americans is a matter of what is assaulting their senses and the toxic condition of their leaders.

America was paganized by a media tsunami of filth, the tyranny of secular progressives and the silence of the Shepherds. If I had more time and room I would elaborate on those factors.  Americans are weary from financial burdens.  They are overmedicated by misguided doctors and laser guided drug dealers. They are bitterly divided by politics.  Finally, they are saddened by the general defeatism of our nation and worst of all, feel no hope for the future and no longer believe what anybody says. In short, they are in a condition that is beyond words.

What do we do now?  There is a clue in something Billy Graham once said.  When a reporter accused him of setting the Church back 50 years Billy said, “I was trying to set it back 2,000 years!” In the year 34 AD the world lived in a similar swampland of despair, perversion and anger.  Christianity emerged from that morass.  But how did she do it?

The church verified the resurrection of Christ with signs, wonders, and miracles.  The church embodied the gospel with their infectious joy, the irresistible love for each other, and their golden service to the poor and downtrodden.  These things provided the Christian clout.  This is why Saint Francis, who ministered to the poor and operated in gifts of divine healing said, “By all means preach the Gospel and if necessary use words.”

What we need today is what I call The Blatant Attempt.  The blatant attempt is drawing a line in the sand that alerts the public and defies Satan. It consists of three clear steps.

1. A highly public and powerful invitation: We have been guilty of asking people to attend things that are not compelling and do not stir the heart. Moreover, we have feared to make that invitation a matter of public knowledge.  We must invite people to encounters with the power of God.  We must spell out the possibilities of the event for those who suffer.  Consider the fact that when people brought the lame, the blind and leper to Christ there must have been a conversation about what could happen if they came to the event!  That kind of expectation is a must in a blatant attempt.

2. We must alter the service to meet the challenge: Nothing is worse than selfish Christians. Dismantling a church service in order to make room for divine intervention is a must.  Clinging to business as usual demonstrates our ignorance about how desperate things really are!  The new meeting must include fasting and intercession.  The new meeting must include a format that allows the Holy Spirit to express His full authority.

3. Contend for the continuation: When the Glory blasts through keep going!  There should be no return to normal, this is the new normal.  Trust God for strategies that maintain the fire and channel the fire into a sustainable way of life.

This is precisely what we are doing at New Life Church in Houston this weekend.  These three rallies are a blatant attempt to declare the Gospel that is beyond words.  All of my sensors are screaming that this will be one of the greatest demonstrations of healing power that I have seen in my entire ministry.

I am pleading with all of those who are within driving distance of Houston to bring the sick, the broken hearted, the addicted and wounded believers for not just a meeting, but a collision with Christ!

BRINGING LIVING PROOF TO HOUSTON

Living Proof for Houston.

Mario Murillo Ministries is bringing LIVING PROOF TO HOUSTON.  The very same torrent of power that you have heard me report from the West Coast is coming to Houston tomorrow.  Never have my instructions been clearer for an outreach; never has my expectancy been greater for an event.

Why do you call your outreaches Living Proof?  Because we are about to lose our nation to a generation that has no clue that God is real let alone what He has done for America.  Judges 2:10 says “When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel.”

Why is Houston such a key?  Houston will likely be the largest city on earth someday.  Every day it expands and the city is annexing land far out into the prairie. But there is another key here.  Houston is home to lukewarm Christianity and user friendly faith.

However, there is a great turmoil in the soul of many believers.  Life and world events have grown too intense for regular religion.  Young and old alike are groping in the dark seeking a fiery experience with God and power to defeat fear and addiction.

1 Samuel 10: 6, 7 Says, “Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. 7 And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do as the occasion demands; for God is with you.”

I am coming to Houston with those words burning in my heart.  The multiple threats against our way of life and our faith have created a singular occasion.  This is an occasion for epic courage and action.  No preacher can risk entering a pulpit unprepared now.  No ministry can afford to just have meetings anymore.  No vessel of God can dare face a day without fervent prevailing prayer.

When I step into the pulpit of New Life Church I will be hanging my very life on the promise that the Spirit of God will fall in great force and wide impact.  LIVING PROOF CANNOT BE JUST A TITLE BUT AN INESCAPABLE REALITY!

Here are 4 imperatives that I want to leave with you today with the deep hope that September 8, 2013 will be a day that sparked fires of holy love all over America!

1. The Holy Spirit will change you from what you are now into what you need to be for the task.  The crisis itself is a sign that fresh fire, new gifts of power and strategy will flow from the throne of God!

2. When these signs occur: Read the signs of this time and be ready to move with them.

3. Do what the occasion demands.  Do not do what has been done before.  Do not do what is trendy now.  Do not do what human wisdom recommends.  Do what the occasion demands.

4. See the threat and ask for the boldness that comes from signs wonders and miracles.  Acts 4: 29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”

I am extending a heartfelt call to all of you in the Houston Area to join us for LIVING PROOF FOR HOUSTON.  Tell those you know and love that they can trade one day of their life for a lifetime of power from the hand of God!
