The Price of God’s Miracle-Working Power

You want to see the lame walk—the blind see—and the deaf hear?  You want your days of powerless ministry to end?  You want to unlock the how and why God grants power to do mighty signs and wonders?  Do you wonder why so many have asked and so few have received the gift of healing and working of miracles?

It is time to peel back misconceptions.  It is time to be brutally honest.   We have been able to create mind-bending technological breakthroughs.  We can now do in an instant what previously took decades…but we will never find a shortcut to supernatural power.

The Holy Spirit’s work never changes.  His process of taking raw material and making a living breathing conduit of His power has never changed.  In 2,000 years, it has not been shortened or compromised one iota.

If you seek glamour and riches skip this message.  If you are dazzled by people you have seen powerfully used, save us both time—do not seek this power—you have no heart for it.

A young man—enthralled by the power he witnessed—ran up to Smith Wigglesworth and begged for the gift.  Smith said, “you don’t want it.  Before God is through with you, you will feel as if a thousand switch trains have run over you.”   Before God uses you greatly He will wound you deeply.

You still yearn to be used?  You still want power—real power and not the fluff of so many hyper-emotional meetings today?  Then proceed with caution.

The reason for our lack of power and miracles is plain—we are just not willing to pay the price.  If you are willing, the Holy Spirit will take you through the process to power.  Here then is the price of God’s miracle working power:

It all begins with self-emptying. Listen to E. M. Bounds: “The preacher must throw himself–with all the abandon of a perfect, self-emptying faith and a self-consuming zeal–into his work for the salvation of men.  The men who take hold of and shape a generation for God must be hearty, heroic, compassionate, and fearless martyrs.”

July 1975 — Kathryn Kuhlman on stage in probably the PNE Agrodome. One picture appeared in Aug 11, 1975 edition of People magazine

A.W. Tozer said they would, “serve God and mankind from motives too high to be understood by the rank and file of religious retainers who today shuttle in and out of the sanctuary.  They will make no decisions out of fear, take no course out of a desire to please, accept no service for financial considerations, perform no religious act out of mere custom; nor will they allow themselves to be influenced by the love of publicity or the desire for reputation.”

Oral Roberts despaired of life itself in his hunger to understand miracles.  He was pastoring without power when he went to Kansas City to hear William Branham.  That encounter with the supernatural was his line in the sand.  He went into fasting and prayer.  Oral went into the prayer closet and died.

In her desperation to understand the supernatural, Kathryn Kuhlman visited several healing meetings.  She often left disgusted and broken-hearted. Her tears and prayers reached critical mass and she made a holy vow to conduct meetings that were full of power and dignity.

She never looked back. Kathryn traced the moment of her power.  She said, “I died.”  From that moment on, there was no Kathryn Kuhlman, only an utterly devoted shell.

Compassion: Oral Roberts, T.L. Osborn, Charles S. Price and Aimee MacPherson all reported being overcome by compassion for the sick. Their level of caring rose to divine heights. They agonized for the lost, the sick, and the dying.  Matthew 14: 14 “And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.”  Such compassion cannot be faked.  It emanates from Christ Himself.

Hatred for sickness and evil: Few understand how the anointing is a product of hatred. Hebrews 1: 9 says: “You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”

Alexander Dowie saw miracles after a plague struck his church in Sydney Australia killing 40 of his members.  An inner rage transformed him until he called out to God with a pure heart and was rewarded with so much power that it left his entire congregation free of plague.

John G. Lake saw his wife die and it unlocked a fury against evil that swept the world with healing.

Power always has a purpose. Luke 4: 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

The most powerful part of those verses is this phrase: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because.”  Your “because” ruins you for all other plans, purposes, and goals.  You must surrender to the one thing you are assigned to do.  You must be able to list your purpose, articulate it simply and clearly and execute it with extreme focus.

Every vessel of God has one life message.  It is an outstanding theme of their life and a distillation of all that the Holy Spirit has ever had them say.  T.L. Osborn’s life reached millions and said something astonishing, and what it said is something that he never compromised or changed.

God is giving you power to do one special work.  You cannot deviate from that divine intention.  It will be a true work of God.

Wait. Acts 1: 4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father…This is the key! Abraham could not wait.  King Saul could not wait.  Esau could not wait.

How long will you have to wait?  AS LONG AS IT TAKES.  All the powers of hell will challenge your decision to wait.  Satan has too much to lose if true healing power flows.  It will not come easily.  Your flesh will scream for release from your vigil.

Wait for true miracle power.  Do not settle for the life you had before this quest.  Your patience will be rewarded beyond measure.  He will come in power.  There will be no doubt.

This is the price of God’s miracle working power.

Let me personally invite you to a miracle service today at 6PM

HEAVEN IN THE HALLWAY

HEAVEN IN THE HALLWAY

By Mario Murillo

When God closes one door He opens another but it can be hell in the hallway.   You are stuck in the hallway! What are you doing here?  What good is failure and frustration?  Why has God closed every door to you?   Why has the Lord devised this divine interruption?  It can seem cruel and everything in you can rail against it.

God will trap you in the hallway.  Jeremiah screamed, “He has hedged me in so that I cannot get out; He has made my chain heavy.” -Lamentations 3: 7

Hannah’s hell looked like this: “And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb”- 1 Samuel 1: 6. Why would a loving God intensify her shame and pain by closing her womb?

Elijah was sent to the wilderness only to have God cut off his water supply: “And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.” – 1 Kings 17:7 How does any of this make sense?

Paul had doors slammed in his face by the Holy Spirit: Acts 16: 6 “Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. 7 After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.”

Not only this, Paul was put in prison at the very moment his physical presence in the churches was desperately needed. What gives?

The hallway seems like hell but if you calm your raging spirit and quell your fears and worries you can turn it into heaven.

The hallway is trying to save you.  Paul indeed had doors closed but then this happened in his hallway:  Acts 16: 8 So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us.’ 10 Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.”

You have gotten good at doing things you are not supposed to be doing.  You are off course.  The hallway is waking you up to the fact that you are busy but not effective. The hallway is where you end the tyranny of unimportant things.

The hallway is trying to teach you once and for all that God is your source: 1 Kings 17:8 Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, 9 ‘Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.’”

Elijah’s welfare was never in doubt.  Even in drought and famine he was safe.  God was trying to show him that whether it is brooks, ravens, or starving widows, God will take care of you.

This forced interruption serves to slay your deepest fears.  The world did not end. The bills got paid.  No threat prospered against you.  The hallway shows you God is your only source.  Outward sources of provision are mirages.  Your heart is fixed trusting in the Lord.

The Hallway deepens right desires and kills selfish motives.  God closes Hannah’s womb to deepen her desire for children.  In the hallway, she became willing to offer her first child to God.  That child became Samuel the prophet.  He saved Israel and is considered second only to Moses in Judaism.   But it gets way better: God remembered Hannah:  1 Samuel 2: 21 says, “And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile the child Samuel grew before the Lord.”  What an amazing outcome!  Not only does she get 5 more children—a prophet comes to save a nation.

The Hallway is a slingshot to unimagined momentum.  You seem immobilized and even like you are going backwards.  You are going backwards…for good reason!  Mighty elastic bands are being stretched to blast you forward.

Paul learned this lesson from his jail cell:  Philippians 1: 12 “But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, 13 so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; 14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.”

He writes triumphantly to Timothy from the hallway: “for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained. -2 Timothy 2:9

The Hallway is where you find out that just knowing God is everything.  I have—for reasons I will never know till I get to heaven—been privileged to know some of the most honored Christians in our lifetime.  At first, I notice the massive ministries they built.  Soon that fades and all you see is their intimate relationship with Jesus—their practical dependency on the Holy Spirit, and their passion to obey.

Jesus said, “John 15: 7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”  That is it!  These giants abide in Christ and everything else is secondary.  Until God frustrates your life and pulls the plug on your charade, you can’t know that.   Whatever you need to do will be done if you abide in Christ and His words abide in you.

These last days are horrible.  Within the church we have false doctrine, carnal leaders and a divided church.  Without, we have a world that is complicated and anti-Christian…it is a world that can blow up at any moment.  Don’t look for crisis to end but for God to work in you to make crisis lose its power to terrorize you.

The temptation to take matters into our own hands—to be obsessed with self-preservation and self-promotion—is greater than ever.  That is why there are hallways.

Daniel 11: 32 describes end time people.  It says, “Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”   Why are they strong?  Why do they do great exploits?  Because they know God.

Knowing God in the hallway—losing all your fear—being completely overtaken by Him can not only bring heaven in the hallway…you may not want to leave.

I leave you with these words from the book God Calling: “The world has always seen service for me to be activity.  Only those near to me have seen that a life apart, of prayer, may, and does so often, accomplish more that all of the service man can offer me. If man lived apart with Me and only went out to serve at My direct command My Spirit could operate more and accomplish truly mighty things.”

Your healing God’s way

Risking all to obey Christ, Oral Roberts brought divine healing out of the shadows and presented it in the mainstream of his generation.   All of the factors that ignited the healing revival of the 1950’s are once again at the forefront.   A dark and uncertain future–millions living in the dread of nuclear war–morals unraveling, and the threat of disease.

YOUR HEALING GOD’S WAY

By Mario Murillo

What we need now is to remember the simple truths that lead to a healing miracle.   The truth about healing is simple.  We stumble over it because it is profoundly simple. A child can grasp the wonder of what I am about to say but the proud intellectual will strain over the very first step. Let us blast forth the truth that we need so desperately now!

1. We must reject the ideas and programs that hinder miracles!

Are healing miracles for today? They are more for today than they have been for any other day! Jesus said in John 14:12 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”

The theology that relegates the gifts of the Spirit to the apostolic age is the greatest lie the devil ever told.  Why would God ask the church to face the greatest explosion of false miracles, occult and demon activity in history with one hand tied behind her back?  This power-outage myth makes God seem foolish and cruel. If ever it made sense for miracles to appear it is now.

However, some spirit-filled preachers are not innocent.  I’ll let you decide the greater sin.  Is it worse to teach that the power gifts stopped or to be a Pentecostal that denies them expression in services used up by modern programs?

2. God wants to heal you more than you want to be healed.

Romans 8:32 asks the wounded soul that wonders about God’s willingness to heal a burning question, “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”  This question echoes in eternity. Everything that you ever ask God must be asked from the foot of the Cross.  It is here and here alone that you can fully see your Father’s heart toward you.   The bar is set.  God gave His Son for you and He will not hold back anything good from you!

Bring back the Cross to the American pulpit and you will bring back the power that made the Book of Acts Church, World Changers. The Cross settles the question of God’s willingness to heal and redeem.  Yes in your suffering God can seem distant and unmoved by your plight.  The Cross reminds you that it is utterly unreasonable for God to give His son and deny you anything  that you need!

3. We have confused divine faith with human belief.  Human belief is the fool’s gold of miracles. It looks right, it feels right but it bitterly fails where it matters most.  A miracle begins and ends with God.  He is in the very first step and every subsequent step.

There are two Greek words for faith that we must understand. Though they are very close in meaning and appearance, they are a universe apart! Pistis means firm conviction or persuasion and Pistos which means dependency on or trust in something or someone.

There is human faith which convinces itself that something is going to happen. This human belief works in the mind not in the heart.   Mental conviction is vital and has its place but not in the atmosphere of the supernatural.  I have seen many try to work up a miracle and think that within themselves they could move God to heal.  If they could remove doubt and repeat verses over and over again, they surmised, God would heal. When you try to use human belief in the arena of the miraculous it becomes a cold mental exercise.  The faith that causes miracles is a grace of the heart that God imparts right before He heals.

I talked with two different people one night before a miracle rally.  The first was a man who told me that God would heal him that night. He told me that he had them send his wheel chair away because he would not need it.  “God will do what I say!,” he barked.  This was classic pistis,  not appropriate for this miracle moment.  My heart sank.

I met another person and her face glowed even in her wheel chair!  She said, “Today I have been with Jesus I can sense Him now, this is my night!”  Here was faith, faith that moves mountains.  Here was the force that created the universe imparted to this little lady’s heart.  I knew that she would walk and sure enough at the appointed time in the service she rose and darted acrossthe front of the arena!

4. Jesus gives us Miracle Faith through the Holy Spirit.

Jesus gave the Holy Spirit everything that He earned on the Cross.  The Holy Spirit carries us in prayer to Christ to both gain true faith and healing.  If only we would grasp the power of humbling ourselves before God!  If only we would rest in the surpassing goodness of God!

Right now you can stop the madness that torments your mind.  Ask the Holy Spirit to carry you to Christ where you will receive Faith.  Do not over analyze, do not fret…rest!   Let Him do His work. Let Him carry you now.  In the face of a doctor’s fearful predictions, vicious pain and weakness… rest!  Do not choose the human faith that grits its teeth and wars in the natural for that which can only be won in the spirit and by the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit knows you better than you know yourself. He wants to take over your case and bear you up on wings that far surpass the wings of Angels.  Soon you will lose all fear and face Jesus Himself.

5. God wants to make it easy!

Let us sum up the matter.  It is time to do it God’s way. We are healed by Faith and no one described this faith better than Peter who said in Acts 3:16

“And his name through Faith in his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know: yes, the Faith which comes through him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”  Here is the clear and undeniable picture of Christ as the giver of Faith, Faith that heals.  This is the Pistos thatcannot help but heal and move mountains!  This Faith cannot be present without a miracle.  When you have it a strange, bold and beautiful feelingenvelopes you and not only do you not doubt, you have lost the power to doubt! Perhaps this is God’s anesthesia, which He applies just before the miracle.  All I know is that when it is there time stands still and all power in heaven and earth cannot stop you from receiving your complete healing.

YOUR GREATEST HOUR

Your greatest hourYour Greatest Hour

The art of doing what people say can’t be done.

By Mario Murillo

This is the hour of darkness, violence and perplexity.  This is the hour that sneers at hope—ridicules faith—taunts righteousness, and abhors dreams and visions.  The bullhorn of evil is drowns out any call to a just cause or a holy endeavor. It screams to every vessel of God, “You can’t do it—compromise or quit!

Hell is belching out defeatism—a defeatism so complete that its victim—redefines their failure and it becomes success.

The government calls food stamps, condoms, needles, and methadone salvation for the needy.  The real message is “your highest hope is to live out your days in government slavery.”

governmentassitance_zps4c1340e2

-The White House calls acts of surrender to our enemies, diplomatic solutions.

-The thug culture tells urban youth turning tricks, dealing drugs and looting stores beats honest work.

-Political correctness says “keep saying that Islam is a religion of peace because it will keep Muslims from acts of violence.”

-Moral relativists say you can’t overcome perverse desires—therefore they are natural.

-Church growth models tell pastors it is a win—if you remove the Cross, Blood and hell from your sermons—to get a crowd.  This model indeed herded people into harmless meetings…but by distracting God’s people from revival it helped hasten the moral landslide of America.

Recent history proves compromise is unnecessary.  Between 1965 and 1985, 25 million Americans were converted to Christ.  Ministries like Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, Kathryn Kuhlman, Pat Robertson, and Jerry Faldwell had a combined television audience of 40 million people. The largest arenas and stadiums filled with hungry hearts yearning for a true encounter with God.  Those preachers shifted America toward morality.

praying for a boy

We are constantly being told what we can’t do. America can’t believe in God.  You can’t hold a marriage together.  Christians can’t live in victory.  Students in our Bible School hear that they can’t have miracles and the power of the Holy Spirit.   The list of things that are now impossible grows longer each day.

We hear faith-killing statements everyday: “the day for that is past.  People don’t want to hear it anymore.  There are no resources for that.  You are too young.  You are told old.  You are not educated.  You are overqualified.

Are you sick of hearing that you can’t do great and mighty things?  Does your gut tell you some awesome intervention of God can still happen?  This can also be your greatest hour—the hour you practice the art of doing what others say you cannot do.   Now learn the art!

you-cant-do-it copy

1Every visionary that ever lived did what others told them they could not do.   As dark and evil as today is—as daunting as the task may seem—many have faced impossible limits like this before.   In fact, the tortured culture of today was vividly described in this verse: “Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” –Daniel 11:32.   Here are two groups of people: 1.Those corrupted by flattery—seduced into believing that drunkenness and denial was natural.  2. Those that know God and do what their circumstances said they could not do.

This second group shakes off the despair, the religion and the threats of their time by knowing God.  This will take you to the next level.

2. Only you and God know what you can still do in this hour. No matter how many teachers you have, there is no substitute for your private relationship with Jesus.  He alone can tell you how to do the impossible.

Today, there is a core that is being pulled into an intimate knowledge of God.  He is drawing people to Himself—people who refuse to fear and be intimidated by what goes on around them.

August Cover

1 Samuel 30: 6 tells us, “Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.”

David knew what the circumstances said.  He could hear the death threats.  What he wanted to hear was the voice of the God he had so passionately loved and served.  His cry is—“I know what life is telling me but what do YOU say?   Even when your life lies at your feet like sputtering rubble—like David’s did, the choice to trust God—to be led by God remains.

God said to David in 1 Samuel 30 verse 8 “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”  This guidance violated all reason!  It opposed logic…it was what everyone would have told David he could not do.

3.You can know with absolute certainty God wants you to do—and when you know, you will become unstoppable. What are the threats of this time compared to God? Paul said, “If God be for us who can be against us.”   If God has spoken, how can your lack of resources matter?  How will He not provide?  If He says it is doable that settles it.

It is clear that the times we live in require wisdom and power that we can’t imagine.  The sheer sophistication of evil can overwhelm us.  Nevertheless there is no excuse to compromise.  No one has the right to tell God that reaching this generation is beyond the power of the Word of God.   We can do things to win America that people say we can’t do!

There are more ideas and tactics discovered with the help of the Bible—ideas that will reveal God’s will to the masses—push back the power of Satan—and do more good for this generation than all of the learning of philosophers and politicians combined.

There is unlimited authority and strength available through the Holy Spirit.  Do you really think He won’t show you what to do about your church, your career, your problems and your needs?  It for these matters that Jesus sent Him to us!

If God

4. Know when to start. When you know God, and you know what He wants you to do then you must start.  You must set the time.  You must take that first step to do what you know you are supposed to do.  He may only give you a first step…but when you take that step you will know what the next step is.

Finally: The greatest vessels of God appear in times of calamity and confusion. This day of trouble is your opportunity to be your best, to be more than you ever imagined you could be.

To do what others say you can’t do is the most eloquent act of defiance against fear: The moment you decide to stand, fight and build you will release the power of the Holy Spirit.  Unknown reserves of courage will well up within you!

Never forget that this will all soon be over:  In heaven, you will only regret what you did not leave on the field of battle.  It is the steps untaken, and the challenges avoided that will haunt you.

This will all soon be over.  The threat that seems so big now will look so puny there.   So let me ask you…what are you saving your courage for?  What are you withholding your talent, resources and dreams for?   Surely they are all for such a time as this.  This is your greatest hour—the hour that you did what others said you could not do.

Now I want to invite you to a convention that will help turn America around!

three voices

We three voices agree.  A supernatural intervention unlike anything we have seen in history must come or America is finished.  The church in America has been struck by an iceberg.  Over one thousand preachers a month are leaving the ministry defeated by the open hostility of our culture and the draining effect of lukewarm believers.  We cannot go on this way.  We must rise and face the challenge of a godless America.

This convention will confront the threat against the American Church head on.  We have brushed aside all of the frills and distractions you may associate with religious conventions.  Our focus is for you to receive fresh fire and direction.

The Living Proof World Convention will be held at New Life Church   March 3- 4- 5 New Life Church 10800 Hammerly Blvd, Houston, TX 77043   church Phone (713) 932-1479

Preparing the Church for the Coming Storm

Preparing

Preparing the Church for the Coming Storm

By Mario Murillo

Franklin Graham just said: “The Storm is coming.”  When Obama refused to say that the 21 people who were beheaded were Christians we crossed into extremely dangerous territory. The president of the United States will look the other way as Islam persecutes Christianity.

David Wilkerson saw a coming storm of persecution and violence.  He saw devastation in New York with fire and massive death and rampant immorality.    Few believed him because at that time, unemployment was less than 5% and because Disney had just taken over the seedy areas of Times Square area and made it family oriented.  All of his words have come to pass.

rev-david-wilkerson (2)

In 1998 he predicted a coming storm and explains why the church would not listen to warnings:

David Wilkerson: “The majority of churchgoers today soundly reject all prophetic warnings of a coming storm. Indeed, the American church today is the most blatant “feel good” church in all of history. But, like Israel, we’re only experiencing the calm before the storm!

Likewise today, Christians by the multiple thousands are casting off the yoke of Christ, tossing aside all limits and restrictions. This attitude is prevalent in many of the books and magazines you find in Christian bookstores. It’s almost as if our leaders are saying, “Relax! God isn’t hard. He’s our Daddy, we’re all his kids, and we’re meant to have a good time. Don’t let anyone disturb your fun!”

However, he also said God gives advance warning and provides protection.

“Moreover, God is faithful to speak in times of prosperity, just before the fury of his judgment strikes. While the storm clouds are still gathering, he raises up prophetic voices all over the land. And, according to scripture, whenever a sinful nation was prosperous and at peace, God told his prophets to warn that the good times soon would end: “…the Lord hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity…” (Zechariah 7:7).

Beloved, if we’re going to face the coming storm, then we need to be prepared so nothing disturbs our spirit. And the only way to do that is to spend time in the father’s presence, beholding his face. We have to be shut in with him – on our knees – until we’re thoroughly persuaded he’s at our right hand!

God is clearly telling us, “Don’t be moved or agitated by anything you see. Keep your eyes focused on me – and you’ll retain your joy!” And according to David, Jesus testified, “…thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance” (Acts 2:28).

We always have to keep in mind, God’s only purpose in lovingly calling us back to himself is to protect us in such times of storm. Yet often in biblical history, when he gave these warnings, the people refused to listen: “He sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the Lord; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear” (2 Chronicles 24:19).

Almost always, God’s people grew weary of these warnings. This was especially true if a prophet cried out about a coming storm over a period of years, but the society only continued to be prosperous and at peace. Over time, the people simply switched off the prophet’s voice. They simply didn’t want to hear it anymore.”

Smith Wiggleworth

In 1927 Smith Wigglesworth said a storm was coming that would cause many to fall away.  This went against the grain of the roaring twenties giddiness and the heyday of Pentecostalism.  He added that a remnant would know God as never before and who would practice extravagant asking.

So God means me to press you another step forward. Begin to believe on extravagant asking, believing that God is pleased when you ask large things.

Steve Hill saw vision of a coming storm that had the potential to destroy millions of Christians because of false teaching running rampant through the church.

Steve Hill: The Lord began to speak. I trembled. The fresh, new snow represented the false teaching that is steadily falling on the ears of the body of Christ. It has been, and is, a heavy snowfall. The skiers represented believers and non-believers, trusting the resort for a safe and memorable experience. As Christians, we have been warned to be sober and vigilant (1 Peter 5:8). However, the present, awe-inspiring teachings have lulled many into a deeper sleep.

steve

The layers upon layers of snow have been steadily covering the solid traditional truth of Christ. The truth is that foolish teaching in these days will become so fashionable even the most dedicated believer could become deceived (Matt. 24:24). It’s happening before our eyes. One spiritual leader said the other day: “You guys are old-fashioned ‘holiness,’ we are modern day ‘grace.’ You live in bondage while we can do anything we want.”

Pastors and teachers worldwide have succumbed to heretical teachings including universal reconciliation, deification of man, challenging the validity of the Word of God including His judgments, and even lifting any boundaries, claiming His amazing grace is actually “amazing freedom.” You are free to live according to your own desires. Sound familiar? “They had no king and did what was right in their own eyes” (Judges 17:6). These popular self-proclaimed ministers of the gospel are covering the “slopes” and will be held accountable for the spiritual death of millions.

Kenneth Hagin: I looked at the scroll again, and again I looked to see what I had read about. I saw the skyline of a large city. Looking closer, I saw the skyscrapers were burned-out hulls. Portions of the city lay in ruins. It was not written that just one city would be destroyed, burned, and in ruins, but that there would be many such cities.Kenneth Hagin

America’s Last Call

The scroll was written in the first person, and seemed as if Jesus Himself were speaking. I read, “America is receiving her last call. Some nations already have received their last call and never will receive another.”

Then, in larger print it said, “THE TIME OF THE END OF ALL THINGS IS AT HAND.” This statement was repeated four or five times. Jesus also said this was the last great revival. He went on to say, “All the gifts of the Spirit will be in operation in the Church in these last days, and the Church will do greater things than even the Early Church did. It will have greater power, signs, and wonders than were recorded in the Acts of the Apostles.”

Smith Wigglesworth: We have to see that these days have to come before the Lord can come. There has to be a falling away.  I want to speak to you very exactly. All the people which are pressing into and getting ready for this glorious attained place where they shall not be found naked, where they shall be blameless, where they shall be immovable, where they shall be purified by the power of the Word of God, have within them a consciousness of the very presence of God within, changing their very nature and preparing them for a greater thing, and causing them to be ready for translation.

This is the day of purifying. This is the day of holiness. This is the day of separation. This is the day of waking. O God, let us wake today! Let the inner spirit wake into consciousness that God is calling us.

There are in the world two classes of believers. There are believers which are disobedient, or I ought to say there are children which are saved by the power of God which are disobedient children. And there are children which are just the same saved by the power of God who all the time are longing to be more obedient.

Up to this present time the Lord’s word is for us, “Hitherto ye have asked nothing.” Surely you people that have been asking great things from God for a long time would be amazed if you entered into it with clear knowledge that it is the Master, it is Jesus, who has such knowledge of the mightiness of the power of the Father, of the joint union with Him, that nothing is impossible for you to ask. Surely it is He only Who could say “Hitherto you have asked nothing.”

Roberts

Oral Roberts was warning us about people who go to church only for themselves and of preachers who care nothing about reaching the world for Christ.   How can we deny that this is true?  We have reached the point where so many Christians are unteachable and Pastors are oblivious to the great commission.

Now let’s put all of these words together and allow God to show us what we are to do to be strong, to be effective and most of all not to be deceived by the storm that is upon us now.

David Wilkerson was trying to teach us that as God’s remnant in a storm of deception, violence and persecution we can be safe; we can even thrive.

Steve Hill placed a great deal of emphasis on the massive amount of false teaching that would rob the church of her preparation, blind her to the right choices she should make, and leave her vulnerable so that she alongside of the world is destroyed. But he also provided the hope that repentance and true submission to God would provide a shelter from the storm.

Kenneth Hagin was warning us that America had a final call.  I believe we are at that call right now.  He saw buildings burning and cities inundated by the judgment of God. However he also offered great hope that the people of God would even do greater things than the apostles did in the book of Acts.

Now listen with all of your heart, with all of your might and with zero distractions. This storm will damage every compromised carnal Christian.   Jesus was calling the foolish man who built his house on the sand someone who had heard the words of Christ but would not do them. That is the key right now. All of these warnings are for Christians.

Preparing the church for the coming stormSo what do you do to be prepared for this storm?  What steps do we take to obey the words of warning that come to us first from the Bible and then from the prophets of God?   Distilling the common threads that run through these four men’s prophecies I found these steps:

  1. Stop being stupid. Stop following preachers that are weakening you, using you, and denying the coming storm. Get out of the churches that look like nightclubs. Get away from the seductive teaching that denies hell, the blood of Christ, the inerrancy of the Bible and the urgency of the great commission.  Don’t follow their teaching.  For heaven’s sake do not give them any money.   Do not fellowship with believers who condone drunkenness or immorality.   This compromised Christianity is precisely the house built on the sand that the storm will destroy.
  2. Press into God. The common thread that runs through the messages of these 4 prophets is a call to intimacy with God, and that the result of that intimacy would be a special grace and power to live through anything in the last days.

Each one of them referenced a secret place in God that was available to us that would create a force field of peace and joy and boldness that would serve to deflect every lie, every threat, and every attack.

Every one of them spoke of a level of power that would be revealed to the last breed of Christian on the earth.  They describe a time of great extremes where wickedness and righteousness would ripen together.

Those who choose to press into God will embody a faith that cannot be shaken by any threat or headline.  They will have a presence of God continually on their life.  Not just some of the time but all of the time.   Disasters will go around them and regardless of how cataclysmic the events of the world become they will be conveyed safely into the kingdom of God.

  1. Enter the era of the extravagant asking. Wigglesworth’s reference to extravagant asking is a key to the final revival in the history of the world. He quoted Jesus who said “hitherto you have asked nothing, ask what you will and my father will give it to you that your joy may be full.” All of the prophets hold out a hope for America.   They are trying to sober us up so that we can ask God to spare our nation. We do not have to have the fires, riots and the judgment that is well deserved.

We can ask and receive resources beyond anything we’ve ever seen before.  We can preach with devastating conviction, conviction that can pierce the most heinous sins of our time.  We can ask and receive signs and wonders that exceed what the apostles saw.   We can watch God fill the coffers of anointed ministries beyond anything we can imagine or have ever seen before.

Finally: Truly God’s word is this, “I set before you life and death.”   You can walk away from this message and continue the denial that pervades the church but I promise you this storm is coming.   You can choose life, not just any life but the greatest life that God has offered any generation.

BRINGING SANITY TO THE SUPERNATURAL

By Mario Murillo

America is ignoring the church.  Every indicator says our impact on society is at an all-time low. Experts don’t mind rubbing it in.  They have the numbers to prove that even mega churches are not slowing America’s march away from God.

We are not seated at the table of influence.  We are no longer asked to form public policy. There is a widespread, well-organized campaign to erase Christ from our nation’s soul.

Most Christian leaders agree with everything I have said so far.  The big disagreement is over the supernatural.  Some say it has no place in winning souls or national repentance.  Others steadfastly declare the gifts of the Spirit are a key to defeat Satan.

I am convinced—not only that signs, wonders and miracles are the key—but that they have always been.

However, there is a massive amount of abuse that is blunting the impact of miracles.  The abuses are: rampant emotionalism, lack of confirmation of healings, wrong motives, and false teachings on miracles.

We must bring sanity to the supernatural.   To do so, we must take action—deliberate, and immediate action.

We not only need the supernatural…there is no substitute.

 praying for a boy

If ever a man preached who had the right to rely on debate it was Paul.  However, he declared: “1 Corinthians 2: 4 “And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”

When the church was threatened Peter’s prayer zeroed in on the supernatural: Acts 4: 29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to your servants that with all boldness they may speak your word, 30 by stretching out your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of your holy Servant Jesus.”

Boil it down to its essence—the problem that is grinding America to death has a supernatural origin.  We can politicize it, and even moralize it but at the root is evil and that evil is from Satan.  Acts 10: 38 says, “Jesus went about doing good healing all who were oppressed of Satan for God was with Him.”

However, the rightful effect that miracles are to have on society can be blocked and blunted by abuse.  Here are the abuses:

1.Spirit-filled Pastors who are afraid to release the supernatural. It is hypocritical for Spirit-filled pastors to teach against men like John MacArthur who say the gifts died with the Apostles if they themselves are blocking the flow of miracles in their own church services.

It is even more hypocritical to say that you are not allowing manifestations of the Holy Spirit because you want to reach lost souls—when that is precisely what they are for!  That is why Paul said, “that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”

kathryn-kuhlman2. Emotionalism: When you walk into a meeting and people are making bizarre noises—contorting in grotesque ways—singing the same phrase over and over again in a trance-like state—simulating smoking dope—and laughing (not in a joyous way) but in a macabre cackle—then society has a right to reject us.

Do not misunderstand me.  I know that true revivals have been crowned by conviction that has caused outbursts of uncontrollable sobbing and shouting…however, these cries from the heart do not have an occultic-new age overtone.

There is no need to hype or whip a crowd into frenzy when the power of God is present.  In fact, the lack of power, is the motive behind emotionalism…we are trying to get God started.  Our real need is to surrender and to trust His mercy and grace to move among us.

3. Lack of medical confirmation: Jesus said, “John 3:21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” People must be encouraged (before they stop taking their medicine) to let their doctors confirm their miracle.  Medical confirmation is a major force in promoting miracles.

Instead of alienating the medical community we should engage them.  No one is bolder than I am to call out bad doctors who prescribe bad drugs to innocent people.  But doctors are not all bad…and many nurses are doing what they do because they care about people.

4. Lack of a holy motive for miracles. A miracle ministry should have nothing to do with fame and fortune or manipulating people. It must have everything to do with dying to self and being overtaken by a limitless passion to see humanity healed.

That holy motive has moved all the great vessels that saw great miracles in their ministry.

Alexander Dowie saw miracles because a plague struck his church in Sydney Australia killing 40 of his members.  He called out to God with a pure heart and was rewarded with so much power that it left his entire congregation free of plague.

John G. Lake saw his wife die and it unlocked a fury against evil that swept the world with healing.

Oral Roberts despaired of life itself in his hunger to understand miracles.  He was pastoring without power when he went to Kansas City to hear William Branham.  That encounter with the supernatural was his line in the sand.  He went into fasting and prayer.  He never looked back.

Kathryn Kuhlman failed God and it drove her to the end of herself.  In her desperation to understand the supernatural she visited several healing meetings.  She often left disgusted and brokenhearted. Her tears and prayers reached critical mass and she made a holy vow to conduct meetings that were full of power and dignity.  She never looked back.

Jesus healing

To restore sanity to the supernatural means that we do three things:

1. Obey the voice of God: Every miracle ministry was called and then sent. You cannot just want this ministry.  When you hear His voice, you will understand that all of heaven will stand behind your endeavors.

Hours of prayer, days of fasting are a small price to pay in comparison to the honor of hearing from Jesus.  When He speaks you will know beyond knowing that He has spoken.

2.Have Faith! Believe the words that God has spoken to you. Repeat them! Commit them to your innermost being.  No matter how impossible the promise He made to you seems hold on to it!

3. Wait! This is the key! Abraham could not wait.  King Saul could not wait.  Esau could not wait.  Wait for true miracle and do not settle for false ones or emotional ones.  Your patience will be rewarded beyond measure.  He will come in power.

Waiting means growing.  It means being tested.  It means that you will be tempted to stop seeking a sane supernatural ministry.  It means that when you want it may not yet come.  The reasons for delay are always wise and wonderful.

If you wait, you will see real miracles, undeniable miracles, and a whole generation can be reached.
