Pope Francis Is A Leftist And Must Be Called Out

Pope Francis has associated with revolutionaries and ideologies that destroy human life and living conditions. The right response is not silence.

By

Don’t pick a political fight with Pope Francis? The title of Rachel Lu’s recent essay and the timidity behind it reminds me of a old Jewish joke.

Max and Moishe are being escorted to the execution chamber in a Nazi prison. In a sudden gesture of defiance, Max raises his arm and gives the guards his middle finger. Horrified, Moishe pulls his arm down and blurts, “Please, Max, don’t make waves.”

Just so all the reflexive excuses for Pope Francis’ dismaying behavior and increasingly obvious ideological bent. Lu forgets there exists such a thing as a loyal opposition. She cites criticism of Francis as evidence of a “war.” A Republican war at that. Doing so, she strays into the same reductive trap set by the mainstream media that she wants conservatives to avoid.

Under the tutelage of a pope who ascribes to himself an omnicompetency in geopolitical and scientific matters, the Catholic Church is at risk of a death walk of its own. Its descent into a left-leaning political entity is underway while we circle the wagons and measure our tones. It is a serious matter when a pope confuses political and ideological symbols for religious ones.

Civil society has an immense stake in that confusion. And the stakes are raised when papal preferences, masked in a Christian idiom, align themselves with ideological agendas (e.g. radical environmentalism) that impinge on democratic freedoms and the sanctity of the individual. Throughout the history of the Church, there has been tension between Peter and Caesar, between the Church and the state. Francis, raised in Argentina during the apogee of Peronism, gives every evidence of tilting toward the state.

Let’s Talk About Pope Francis Associating with Marxists

Since Lu refers to my January 5 article in First Things, let us go back to that for a moment. “Francis and Political Illusion” included a photo of the pope standing between two environmental activists and holding an anti-fracking T-shirt. Effort was made by papal apologists to dismiss the image as nothing more than a visual equivalent to Francis’ off-the-cuff malapropisms—a genial Francis being courteous to some activists.

popetwitter_1-1

No, it was not. And these were not just any activists. The older of the two men in the photo is Fernando Solanas, an Argentine film director, avowed propagandist, and politician. A key player in Buenos Aires, he ran for president of Argentina on the Socialist ticket in 2007 and stood for the senate last year. In the 1960s, he co-founded the influential, radical film collective Grupo Cine Liberación (The Liberation Film Group) with Octavio Gettino, Both were Marxists and supporters of Juan Perón at the time.

Together with Gettino, Solanas also founded Tercer Cine (Third Cinema), a title referencing the Third Word. Prominent in the 1970s and 1980s, it was a movement—a school—opposed to neocolonialism and capitalism. It issued a manifesto, “Documentary Is Never Neutral” that opened with the words of Frantz Fanon: “…we must discuss; we must invent.” In the obligatory style of left-wing manifestos, it included quotations from Mao, from Che Guevara’s handbook “Guerilla Warfare,” and anti-colonial, and pro-Cuba tracts. It rails against “bourgeois values,” “surplus value cinema” and “the lords of the world film market, the great majority of whom were from the United States.”

Gettino died two years ago; Solanas is carrying the torch.

Solanas and Gomez were eager for the pope to declare major environmental missteps ‘crimes against humanity.’

That meeting between Francis and Solanas, on November 11, 2013, had been scheduled for months. It was the culmination of a Vatican conference on “environmental crimes” with Argentine activists. Federal prosecutor Gustavo Gomez participated. When discussions ended, Francis’ invited Solanas and Gomez into his apartment for a private audience and closing photo-op. A cameraman and sound technician accompanied. There was nothing casual about it.

Solanas and Gomez were eager for the pope to declare major environmental missteps “crimes against humanity.” No definition was given of what constituted a crime or distinguishes it from an accident. Instead, the men praised Francis’ slogan for his upcoming campaign: “We must pray for children who receive dirty bread their parents give them.”

The film ran while the pope sorted through the T-shirts and held them up to the camera: “Say No to Fracking” and “Water Is Worth More than Gold.” That done, image-conscious Francis selected the wall he wanted to pose against while he delivered a homilette. It is a disquieting, rambling bit of stagecraft.

The Hashtag Papacy

In the course of it, Francis has condemned 46 percent youth unemployment in an unnamed European country but appears to have no grasp of the causes of such unemployment. He offers only distaste for the vague “unjust international system” we are living in. That, plus a wave of the hand encompassing Hiroshima, mining, and high-voltage cables is presented in evidence that “we are living the myth of Shiva.”

Francis has condemned 46 percent youth unemployment in an unnamed European country but appears to have no grasp of the causes of such unemployment.

Despite the resurgence of a conquering Islam and the gruesome cleansing of Christians from the Middle East, Francis declares that “the greatest conflict that is rising is the struggle over water.” We must not waste or contaminate water. Toward the end of this strange performance, Francis quotes Zhou Enlai, Mao’s henchman. While an innocuous quotation in itself, Francis’ choice of it signals sympathy with Solanas’ ideological tastes.

It bears mention that the photo-op provided invaluable publicity for Solanas’ La Guerra del Fracking (“The Fracking War”), banned in Argentina by the government. This was a backhanded but unsubtle papal intrusion into Argentine politics. The film, in Italian with English subtitles, runs nine minutes. It can be found here.

Francis is no naïf. He signals his priorities to anyone paying attention. You do not have to be a Republican or a conservative to get the message. In support of his green theology, he plans a speech at the United Nations and a congress of world religious leaders at the Vatican. He is preparing to lend this agenda the magisterial weight of an encyclical. Yet, when innocents are slaughtered in Paris by the same forces that are shedding Christian blood in the Middle East, the most he can muster is a hashtag, #PrayersforParis.

The contrast is telling.

Silence and Appeasement Have Never Been Effective

Lu would have us turn our eyes away. She prefers that conservatives keep mum on papal presumptuousness so as not to inflame the liberal media. In short, she rationalizes silence as a means of appeasing media hounds. It is a fainthearted position that ignores longstanding—and ongoing—evidence of the futility of appeasement.

While deferential observers are measuring their tones, Francis drives ahead with a demagogic program which makes the state the guardian and enforcer all values.

Let us be honest. Conservatives are damned if they do, damned if they don’t. While deferential observers are measuring their tones, Francis drives ahead with a demagogic program which makes the state the guardian and enforcer all values. To suppress challenge to a pope’s political biases or erratic behavior is no favor to the Church. It is little more than a failure of nerve that will earn no reward in the press. Silence is a form of collusion.

Earlier this month, Peter Berger reported in The American Interest that Leonardo Boff is an advisor to the pope on his forthcoming encyclical on climate change. Boff, a former Franciscan priest, is one of the major proponents of Liberation Theology, rejected as radical by both previous pontiffs. In March, 2013, at the time of Francis’ election, Boff told the press that Jorge Bergoglio was more liberal than people supposed. His conservatism as cardinal was due only to pressure from the Vatican. Rorate Caeli recorded Boff’s prediction: “He is now the pope and he can do whatever he wants. Many will be surprised with what Francis will do.”

This past October, Francis took aim at “ideological Catholics,” calling them “a serious illness” within the Church. What is Francis, if not an ideologue?

VATICAN CITY (CBS St. Louis) — The Vatican’s chief justice feels that President Barack Obama’s policies have been hostile toward Christians.

In an interview with Polonia Christiana magazine –and transcribed by Life Site News — Cardinal Raymond Burke said that Obama “promotes anti-life and anti-family policies.”

“It is true that the policies of the president of the United States have become progressively more hostile toward Christian civilization. He appears to be a totally secularized man who aggressively promotes anti-life and anti-family policies,” Burke told the magazine.

The former archbishop of St. Louis stated that Obama is trying to “restrict” religion.

“Now he wants to restrict the exercise of the freedom of religion to freedom of worship, that is, he holds that one is free to act according to his conscience within the confines of his place of worship but that, once the person leaves the place of worship, the government can constrain him to act against his rightly-formed conscience, even in the most serious of moral questions,” Burke said.

Burke took a swipe against Obama’s Affordable Care Act over the law’s birth control mandate, saying “such policies would have been unimaginable in the United States even 40 years ago.”

“In a democracy, such a lack of awareness is deadly,” Burke told the magazine. “It leads to the loss of the freedom which a democratic government exists to protect. It is my hope that more and more of my fellow citizens, as they realize what is happening, will insist on electing leaders who respect the truth of the moral law as it is respected in the founding principles of our nation.”

Burke also believes there is hope that abortion will be overturned in the U.S.

“There is hope that the evil anti-life laws of the United States can be overthrown and that the anti-life movement which urges yet more of such legislation can be resisted,” Burke said. “The pro-life movement in the United States has been working since 1973 to reverse the unjust decision of the Supreme Court which struck down state laws prohibiting procured abortion. It is true that the Supreme Court decision stands, but it is also true that the pro-life movement has grown ever stronger in the United States, that is, that more and more citizens, especially young citizens, have been awakened to the truth about the grave evil of procured abortion.”

Pope Francis removed Burke from the Congregation for Bishops last December.

Obama will be meeting Pope Francis for the first time at the Vatican on Thursday.

Standing Against the Storm of Compromise.

Ours is not an obscure message that should be whispered in the secret places of society.

We see things differently at Mario Murillo Ministries, mostly because of the way we were born. While still in high school I preached in the Haight-Ashbury, ground zero for the love and peace movement in San Francisco.  Moving to Berkeley sent us from the frying pan into the fire.  We were planted there for the next ten years.

For most of our early ministry, I rarely stood before an audience that actually wanted to hear what I had to say.  If this message had an iota of human origin, a speck of flaw in its nature or fantasy…the crucible of Berkeley would have blown it to smithereens.

Instead, unexplainable power appeared at each point where the ministry was threatened.  Something out of this world would always step in…providing words, resources, ideas and miracles exactly when we needed them.

Not once in that cauldron of revolution, did we feel the need to rebrand Christ or present a new and improved gospel.

For years there has been a rising tide calling for Christians to “keep your faith to yourself.”  Many modern pastors, including the Pope, have joined the chorus asking Christians, “to tone it down.”

Consequently, we have retreated into a cultural bubble where we do everything but preach the Gospel.  We have entertained, amused, inspired and distracted, but we have not converted America.  Because of this, the average Christian cannot defend their faith, marriage, or the Bible as the inspired word of God.

The original reason that the Church adopted this “indirect approach” was to get society to like us.  What we got was just the opposite.  Our compromised message has fueled greater contempt for the Church.

The media is now maligning the message of Jesus every day.  Francis Spufford said, “They think we believe in a load of Bronze Age absurdities. We promise the oppressed ‘pie-in-the-sky’ when they die; we are too stupid to understand why what we believe is irrational, and we are savagely judgmental.”

Atheists call us a threat to human progress.  Secular progressives condemn us as hating the poor, the homosexual and women.

How is it possible, that after all the work we put into removing the “offensive” parts of our message, that society is even more offended?  The answer is that there is a small but loud faction that hates Christ.  They are having their turn at the microphone because the hostility of the White House.

We violently, totally and utterly disagree with the notion that we should tone down the Gospel in America.  There are millions of innocent bystanders, who have not rejected Christ.  They are simply caught in the middle between haters telling lies, and the misfiring sermons of voices too timid to tell the truth.  We must take our message to these millions trapped in the middle. This is why the answer is not to “tone it down,” but to turn it up!

The same Holy Spirit that outfitted us to face the city of Berkeley will equip us to mount a fresh invasion of our nation.

Now let me get to the goal of this letter.  We have learned through every trial and breakthrough that God does not just give guidance, He also gives a plan.

we-have-a-plan-art-copy

We have a plan for 2017.  I can say without apology, that this plan has come to us from the Holy Spirit.  Again and again, the spirit of God has used events in the Bible as a model for what we should do. The verses below reveal a three-point plan that was given by an Angel to the disciples when the church was gravely threatened.

Acts 5: 17- 20 says, “But the high priest rose up and all who were his supporters, that is, the party of the Sadducees, and being filled with jealousy and indignation and rage, 18 They seized and arrested the apostles (special messengers) and put them in the public jail. 19 But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and, leading them out, said, 20 “Go, take your stand in the temple courts and declare to the people the whole doctrine concerning this Life” (the eternal life which Christ revealed.)

Embedded in those simple words, are our instructions for 2017.  Follow me as I describe to you the plan for touching America this year.

1. Take a stand. We cannot judge other ministries.  We can only answer for what God asks us to do.  He has ordered us to take a stand.  There is no confusion about what the Angel is asking the men of God to do.  He is telling them to stake their ground in their nation.  This is not just a physical act; it is also moral and spiritual. We must take a stand against Satan’s agenda for America and we must take a stand for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We take a stand because we belong in the national conversation.  America has a drug, divorce, suicide, anger, and atheism problem.  Our voice needs to be heard because we carry the most immediate and effective cure for everything that is hurting America.  The Angel is reinforcing to the disciples that their message is valid and urgent.

last insert

2. Take your stand in the temple courts. Ours is not an obscure message that should be whispered in the secret places of society.  The temple courts were the heart of Jerusalem.  The Angel is blatantly instructing them to raise their voice in the very center of their culture.

In that same way we must go where the people are and where the biggest lies are being told.  The angel gave them an exact location to take their stand and that location spoke volumes to the Apostles.  God is serious about making a difference in the culture.

3.  Tell all of the words of this life. What a scathing rebuke to popular Christianity.  While Christian celebrities scurry to and fro to find buzzwords to replace the core doctrines of the Bible, here is an Angel telling the disciples that they must tell all the words of life.  They cannot leave out a single benefit or demand of the message of Jesus Christ.

How right that Angel was.  There is life in those words.  There is life in the blood of Christ, the cross and the resurrection.  There is life in them so amazing that no mountain of eloquence or cunningly devised sermon can begin to match.

If only we would learn to brave the offense of the Cross in our preaching!  We would find that very soon the supernatural life of God would overtake our preaching and create miracles in people that infinitely surpassed the results of popular preaching.  Society would not care about the demands in our message because of the changes they would see in their souls, minds and bodies.

This is what we will do in 2017.  In city after city, we will take a stand in the heart of that city and tell all the words of this life.

Why I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

By Mario Murillo

“Here in Britain, it is more likely that people would deny they went to church even if they actually did, on the grounds of embarrassment. To say you’re religious in Britain is to risk excluding yourself.  When Tony Blair was Prime Minister, and a rare question arose about his religious views, his press secretary said firmly, “we don’t do God,” and refused to answer.”

This is an excerpt from the preface of Unapologetic, the ground breaking volume by Francis Spufford.

This paints a bleak picture of soul winning in England.  It also explains why Islam has made so many inroads in London.  Moslems are not ashamed to speak out, nor are they embarrassed by their faith.

This blog is not a rant against Islam, nor is it a call for Christians to seize the White House. It is a call to take a hard, honest, deep look at what is a snapshot of our immediate future.

Soul winning is now a hate crime in England and the trend is growing here.  There is a rising tide that calls for Christians to “keep it yourself.”  This argument is being put forth by a strange Confederation of voices.  Atheists want us to hold our peace because we are irrational and a threat to human progress.  Secular progressives condemn us as hating the poor, the homosexual and women.  Many modern pastors, including the Pope have asked Christians, “to tone it down.”

There are millions of innocent bystanders who hear the message of Jesus maligned every day.  They are caught in the middle between those who, out of hatred, tell lies about the gospel, and those that present an incomplete gospel out of embarrassment.Berkeley Campanille

The answer is not to tone down the Gospel, it is just the opposite: It is time to turn up the true Gospel. By being exposed to the real message of Jesus presented through Spirit-driven vessels, those millions who are stuck in the middle will experience history’s most pleasant surprise.

Everyone that knows me well knows this very singular fact about me: I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  But why am I not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ?

To answer that, you must see the different path this ministry has taken than most evangelists that you have ever heard of.  It seems that Christ went out of his way to plunge us in the deep end from the very beginning.

While others have been called to areas of America that are sympathetic to Christian values, we have always been cast into locations that are hostile, atheistic, immoral and highly intellectual.

While still in high school I preached in the Haight-Ashbury; ground zero for the love and peace movement in San Francisco.  The ministry went from the frying pan into the fire by moving to Berkeley California during the antiwar demonstrations. We were planted there for the next ten years.

For a great part of the early ministry I rarely stood before an audience that actually wanted to hear what I had to say.  You could say that God sent the worst equipped person to convert the best armed opponent.

We do need not to present any further evidence than this to show you the power of the gospel: If there was a flaw in the message, any fantasy whatsoever, the crucible of Berkeley would have blown it to smithereens.

Our first building copy

Instead, at each point of challenge something from out of this world would step in and move the ministry forward.  The least likely would be converted. A greater proof still is the fact that we had not a clue about what we were doing and yet our numbers kept growing.

We were one of those rare ministries in history where the new converts could explain what God was doing better than we could.

Paul said he was not ashamed because it was the power of God.  That is exactly what it was for me…the power of God doing the impossible.

When the words should not have been there they were.

When the money could not have been there it was.

When the method had no business being effective it was.

But finally and foremost, the Gospel proof was the power it put in people.  They who hated it were transformed; they who had no power to stave off addictions were resurrected.  In short, all who tasted the power of the Gospel had an engine installed that became an impetus to loving and positive choices.  That is why I am not ashamed nor will ever be ashamed of the most awesome message mankind has ever heard!

Tomorrow:  How we stop the trend away from soul winning.

The Obama administration, in what’s been called an egregious slap in the face to the Vatican, has moved to shut down the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See — a free-standing facility — and relocate offices onto the grounds of the larger American Embassy in Italy.

The new offices will be in a separate building on the property, Breitbart reported.

And while U.S. officials are touting the relocation as a security measure that’s a cautionary reaction to last year’s attacks on America’s facility in Benghazi, several former American envoys are raising the red flag.

It’s a “massive downgrade of U.S.-Vatican ties,” said former U.S. Ambassador James Nicholson in the National Catholic Reporter. “It’s turning this embassy into a stepchild of the embassy to Italy. The Holy See is a pivot point for international affairs and a major listening post for the United States, and … [it’s] an insult to American Catholics and to the Vatican.”

Mr. Nicholson — whose views were echoed by former envoys Francis RooneyMary Ann GlendonRaymond Flynn and Thomas Melady — also called the justification for closing the existing facility a “smokescreen,” Breitbart reported.

“That’s like saying people get killed on highways because they drive cars on them,” he said in the report. “We’re not a pauper nation … if we want to secure an embassy, we certainly can.”

Moreover, the existing facility has “state of the art” security, he said.

Mr. Flynn, meanwhile, said the administration’s announcement reflects a hostility toward the Catholic Church.

“It’s not just those who bomb churches and kill Catholics in the Middle East who are our antagonists, but it’s also those who restrict our religious freedoms and want to close down our embassy to the Holy See,” he said in the National Catholic Reporter. “[There’s no] diplomatic or political benefit to the United States” from the relocation at all, he added.

Catholic Vote, a publication for the Church community, called the move “an unmistakable slap in the face” that clearly communicates that the United States cares little for the diplomatic facility.

And Mr. Nicholson went on, as Breitbart reported: “It’s another manifestation of the antipathy of this administration both to Catholics and to the Vatican — and to Christians in the Middle East. This is a key post for intermediation in so many sovereignties but particularly in the Middle East. This is anything but a good time to diminish the stature of this post. To diminish the stature of this post is to diminish its influence.”

We are on the brink of a Christian Spring.

Despite our secularist enemies, we are on the brink of a Christian Spring

Christians are in good hands

Archbishop Carey has grown in stature since he retired from Canterbury in 2002. When he speaks about the persecution of Christians abroad, he does so with passion and authority. When he warns not to dilute Britain’s precious Judaeo-Christian legacy, he is compelling.

But his latest pronouncement is wrong. George Carey claims thatChristianity is one generation away from extinction. This is not so. I can see why he despairs for us Christians: plenty of things have been going wrong. First and foremost, our enemies are organised as never before. Secularists have made a concerted effort to erase Christianity from public life here and across the West. They have silenced prayers before meetings, the ringing of church bells, and even the girl scouts who once pledged to serve God.

But that was only the beginning. As I have written in my ebook, No God Zone, the secularists have successfully enshrined their bias against religion in laws across Europe. The Observatory on Intolerance against Christians in Europe has reported that EU member states have enacted41 laws that discriminate against Christians. The effect of such legislation is huge: some professions, such as doctors, therapists and even pharmacists, are now closed to Christians, who would otherwise have to go against their conscience on issues such as abortion, euthanasia or the morning after pill.

Secularists, as I have written before, seem to want only one thing: for Christians to be driven back into the catacombs. Prayers, and services, will soon have to be practiced away from prejudiced eyes, in the privacy of a home or a private chapel.

George Carey, then, has a point. The forces of atheism are ranged against us and, as he points out, too many Christian clergy cannot stand up to the challenge. They are too ready to dilute their ethos – look atwhat has been happening with faith schools, both Anglican and Catholic.

But before we give up on the faith of our forefathers, let’s consider three new factors. Pope Francis, Justin Welby and the backlash effect. The extraordinary impact of Francis has been felt not only among his immediate audience – Italians, who are now retuning to Mass – but, incredibly, among the intelligentsia that is traditionally so sceptical of Christian values. Jonathan Freedland, who is neither a Christian nor a conservative, went so far as to predict that in college dorms around the globe, students will replace their posters of Che Guevara with ones of Francis. Justin Welby’s impact has been more subtle, but he too has shown Christianity in a new light: inclusive, compassionate, and above all truthful. No wasting time and effort on false gods like money, celebrity, status.

Both men have struck a chord. Christians – and many non-Christians – have grown weary of the relentless pursuit of shallow goals. We have grown weary of being mocked for holding dear our heritage and its immortal values: charity, honesty, humility, and love. “Backlash” sounds too violent for a Christian response, but that is what I believe is taking root. I see it in the effort to block porn on the internet, the generous reaction to the Philippines’ disaster, the distaste for bloated bankers and for OTT, twerking celebrities.

It may be overly optimistic to read a lot into these developments, but I truly think these are the first shoots of a Christian Spring.

UNDER THE GLARE: COMPROMISING BEFORE THE MEDIA AND THE CULTURE.

under

By Mario Murillo

Thomas Jefferson said, “in matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.”

America has changed so fast that many believers wonder if they should change with the times.  Indeed, some of our most famous Pastors have stunned the faithful by saying that they now endorse gay marriage and openly state that the Bible is wrong about hell.

There is a phrase that echoes in my spirit, “either it is always true or it was never true.”  Truth has a stubborn way of staying the same.  Righteousness is timeless.  It does not flex, bend, or twist in the wind of modern thought.  Likewise, love is unchangeable:  full of mercy but it cannot rejoice in a lie.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ cannot be stripped of any part of its message if it is to impart eternal life. The central place of signs and wonders wrought by the Holy Spirit also does not change.  Jesus irrevocably welded miracles to the preaching of the Gospel when He said, “these signs will follow those who believe.”

preachin

Either it was always true or it was never true. Here are examples of the timeless advice of the Bible for preachers today.

1. Integrity in the media:  Proverbs 25: 26 Like a muddied spring or a polluted well are the righteous who give way to the wicked.   This warns Pastors who suddenly lose their moral compass under the hot lights of a talk show studio. You must quote the Bible and be quick to answer questions about the Cross, hell, sin, marriage and repentance.  America needs to hear the truth… you can be poison instead of healing if you betray  your calling!

2. Changing because of the success of compromise.  It is easy for a preacher to envy the wealth and prestige of secular celebrities and media pastors who have built empires in the name of God.  Psalm 73:1 Truly God is good to Israel, To such as are pure in heart. 2 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; My steps had nearly slipped. 3 For I was envious of the boastful, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.”

3. When you leave out truth from your sermon you are dooming the younger generation:  When the Psalmist realized how he was slipping because of envy he also saw that he could take down a generation with him.  Psalm 73:15 If I had said, “I will speak thus, “Behold, I would have been untrue to the generation of Your children.

4. Don’t make any decision until you see the Glory of God in prayer where you will get a true perspective.  Psalm 73: 16 When I thought how to understand this, It was too painful for me—17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end.

5.  Make sure your pulpit is selfless.  Preach what helps them not your career. Acts 20:20 how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house.

Now some final advice for all of us:

Either it was always true or it was never true applies our hope:

Now some final advice for all of us:

If ever there were verses that were designed to encourage conviction and standing in times that screamed for panic or compromise it is these verses:

Psalm 62: 5-12  My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. 7 In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. 8 Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah 9 Surely men of low degree are a vapor, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapor. 10 Do not trust in oppression, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them. 11 God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this:That power belongs to God. 12 Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work.

I SHALL NOT BE MOVED! Either it is always true or it was never true that He will heal us, protect us, guide us, restore us, and multiply our giving.    Honesty, integrity, fidelity, faithfulness and purity are always valid or they were never valid.  Those who move away from the demands of the Bible will also lose the mighty results of obedience.  Standing like a rock on our principles will release God’s best!
