YOU ARE THE VICTIM OF A PREDICTION

They put their hands over their ears to try to drown out the noise. A growing number of believers are feeling like a volcano about to erupt. They feel total disgust toward fleshly religion. They despise the impotent actions of ‘Christianity Incorporated.’  A burgeoning conviction is intensifying in them that modern pulpiteering is inadequate for these perilous times..  They know there has got to be something deeper—something that is real.  They are sick of the church in exile always apologizing, but most of all they feel an indescribable pull taking them to a secret place in God.

If that describes you, let me congratulate you.  Let me explain your condition.  You are under the influence of a bulldozer called prophecy. You are the victim of a prediction.

Your condition runs against the grain of the horrendous days we are living in. My letters and emails tell me horror stories of fear and retreat.  Dreams are being postponed or cancelled outright.  Expansion is now guilty, until proven innocent. Young people are acting like they are old and afraid. Once bold leadership-lions are retreating and looking for safe landing spots.

But there is a remnant that feels just the opposite. They sense that as hard and as dark as these times are, God is up to something big, and it is something He has had in mind for a long time. They believe they are in preparation for an inexpressible event.   I am not talking about all those other prophecies that so many are claiming to have.  This is totally different.

You probably agree that too many so-called “prophetic words” today are actually pathetic counterfeits. You reject the shenanigans of those flashy self-serving false prophets. You see through the mind-games they use to prey on the gullible.  However, you have not given up. You know there is true prophecy because it has a grip on you that won’t let go.  Here is what you need to know about prophecy.

Prophecy swallows policy. Every generation is guided by two forces: Policy and Prophecy. Policy consists of the laws and edicts of man. Prophecy always swallows policy. Christmas is a vivid example.  No doubt Caesar Augustus felt sovereign over the earth when he ordered the world to be registered.  His policy seemed to force Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem.  But policy was simply serving prophecy, namely:

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.  (Micah 5:2).

True prophecy is a bulldozer that overrules the plans of both man and Satan.  Prophecy is the WORD which comes from the mouth of God and will prevail when all the dust settles and the smoke clears.  Each of the mad ravings of society will bow down before the purposes of God.

The bulldozer of prophecy is not moved by the mad railings of potentates and tyrants.  It is impervious to weather, economic downturns, and persecution.  The treads of prophecy roll over the plans of men, the intentions of armies, and the highest threats of mankind. Prophecy is the fire that cannot be snuffed out.  Isaiah 40:8 declares “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”

Forget about everything else. Here are the questions that matter:  What has God said He would do in our time?  What has He promised?  What has He commanded?  Your passion to learn His intention for you and for this, your time, is of supreme importance.

Prophecy waits in secret—for a core that is willing to pay the price to know the secret of the Lord.

“Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7)

“The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him; and He will show them His covenant. (Psalm 25:14)

The prophetic bulldozer creates an inner tenacity where, suddenly, the facts of daily life don’t count.  Quietness pervades your soul because you know beyond knowing that something unstoppable has begun to grow out of your closeness to Christ.

Those who are God’s secret weapons may not even know it yet.   They have no idea of the tactical wisdom and the miracle power that will enfold them at the very moment they need it.  All they know is that they are being pulled into the tabernacle of God, into the Most Holy Place.

You can feel it… a deep calling unto deep.  You have been ruined for the mediocre and deep in your heart you want to know Him…to be with Him…and stay separated unto Him for a plan that is as yet unseen.

Prophecy is even now unleashing its power.  When the enemy is least prepared, in an hour not yet seen, God’s Spirit will strike.

God is going to do something that no one can possibly fathom.  He is going to pour out a river of Life.  Some will be in the middle of it, others will miss it entirely.  None of the current events we are witnessing will foretell the might and glory that will be expressed by the Holy Spirit.

Take heart!  God has honored you by letting you live in troubled times.  The greatest vessels of God have appeared in times of calamity and confusion. Today’s trouble is your opportunity to be your best, to be more than you ever imagined you could be.  All of this is because of a bulldozer called prophecy!

Just when Satan thought he was safe

A highly visible worship leader defects from the faith. A million-seller Christian-influencer denies Christ. Social media blocks churches. A national frenzy for immorality. Millions raging in anger against believers.

Satan believes he is safe against the prospect of revival. He could not be more wrong—and the pessimists in the church could not be more wrong.

Revival struck London through John Wesley when everyone thought it was impossible.   One out of every seven houses in London was a house of prostitution.  More people were attending séances than church.  Nearly 100,000 children lived in slums like animals.  The London Times had not mentioned Christmas for decades…not even once.

After the revival, England became the missionary leader to the world.

Revival struck Kentucky when it was unthinkable.  This was the most lawless state in the union.  There was no police force.  Every criminal on the run headed for Kentucky.  Murder, rape, and alcoholism were pandemic.  Revival flipped Kentucky so violently that it became the most zealously Christian State in America.

The early twentieth century was a far more skeptical era than today.  The blush of Darwinism and Marxism was so feverish that it was a foregone conclusion that Christianity would go away altogether. Scientists declared the Age of Reason and solemnly assured us that religion would be a thing of the past by the 1920s.

Imagine in that atmosphere, if you were to have said in 1906, “A one eyed black man is going to rent an old and dingy horse livery on Azusa Street in downtown Los Angeles, and start a movement that will engulf nearly 600 million people worldwide.”  The men in white would have been sent to collect you.

The point is that revivals are impossibleuntil they happen.

You should also know what the church was preaching in those darkest moments before the awakenings began.  Pulpits were filled with pessimists who, instead of rebuking the despair, joined in the chorus.  They declared the day of revival to be over!  But, even that did not stop God.

How is it that revival can strike without warning in the most unpromising times and grow in the hardest soil?  The answer is that when darkness is intense, we tend look at the wrong indicators.  It’s not that there are no warning signs that revival is coming, it is simply that we do not know them when we see them because the fear is so loud.

Look at today.  Do you see any signs of revival?  Most would say, “Absolutely not!”  They would say all of the same things that people have said prior to every outpouring of God: Revival cannot come because the times are too evil.

That is the argument today.  We have legalized gay marriage. We have legalized drugs. And we are even toying with Islam.  Many of our leaders are delusional snowflakes that are bent on finding the best ways to drive us to extinction.  Churches are closing and thousands of ministers are leaving the ministry every year.  You know the rest, because you have heard it a hundred times.

Atheists are boasting that the whole world in general is becoming secular and anti-supernatural.  The facts are just the opposite.  It is a very religious world, far more religious than it was 50 years ago.

Consider these statistics from sociologist Rodney Stark:

Gallup World Poll Surveys of more than a million people living in 163 nations show that:

  • 81 percent claim to belong to an organized religious faith, and most of the rest report engaging in religious activities such as prayer or making offerings to the gods in various “folk religion” temples.
  • 74 percent say religion is an important part of their daily lives.
  • 50 percent report they have attended a place of worship or religious service in the past seven days.
  • In very few nations do as many as five percent claim to be atheists, and only in China, Vietnam, and South Korea do they exceed 20 percent.
  • Furthermore, in every nook and cranny left by organized faiths, all manner of unconventional spiritual and mystical practices are booming.
  • There are more occult healers than medical doctors in Russia.
  • 38 percent of the French believe in astrology.
  • 35 percent of the Swiss agree that “some fortune tellers really can foresee the future.”
  • Nearly everyone in Japan is careful to have their new car blessed by a Shinto priest.

To be sure, little of this is Christian, but it is undeniable that the waters of supernatural hunger are being stirred worldwide.

Another sign is the evil within people themselves.   For example, Saul of Tarsus was at the peak of his terror-attacks on the church when he was violently converted. What no one but God knew was that there was a growing desperation inside of this Pharisee, who would soon become Paul the Apostle.   In a similar way, societies are often at their worst right before revival.

What we do not want to do is miss revival when it hits!

Dark times can absorb our faith in the power of God.  Many believers find themselves in a condition that is truly worse than they ever imagined.  Pangs of fear grip men of God who were once lions in the pulpit.  We invent doctrines that fit our disappointment.  We build ministries based on our lowered expectations.

You need a healthy respect for how the power of dark times can rob us of faith.  It has happened to the best of us.

500 people saw Jesus Christ ascend into the clouds.  Think about that.  In the face of such absolute proof that Jesus was the Son of God, how could they ever doubt?

As He ascended He told them to wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Holy Spirit.  Surely they would wait…right?  Astonishingly, only 120 were still waiting in the upper room on the Day of Pentecost.  How is it possible in the face of so great an assurance that those eyewitnesses would falter and abandon their posts?

Their world was filled with sudden terror from a wicked king, oppression from religious leaders, and tyranny from Roman occupiers.  Their daily grind absorbed their zeal for the promises of God.

Do not be like those 380 people who missed one of the greatest moments in history.  Here are two things that you need to confess and say to your spirit, so that you will not leave the upper room.

Either it was always true or it was never true. Times do not alter truth. A lack of money does not change God’s word about prosperity.  Sickness does not nullify the fact of God’s healing power.  The evil of men does not overrule the supremacy of Christ.  If God has made you promises, these dark times cannot stop their fulfillment.

Here is an example of that: 1 Samuel 17:34, “But David said to Saul, ‘Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, 35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.”

It is easy to say that evil today is more intense and sophisticated than ever before.  But, neither Saul nor Israel had ever faced anything like Goliath before.  David said that it did not matter; this new threat would have the same outcome as all of the previous threats God had given him victory over!

Jesus is telling us to wait for the power that is about to break out, no matter what.  Does revival look totally impossible to you?  Don’t worry, revivals all look that way until they happen.

COUNTERFEIT REQUIREMENTS

In this message I want to share with you the difference between true revival and the counterfeit that targets true revival. This counterfeit is a threat that reappears at the very moment of explosive breakthrough.

Again and again over the past centuries, revival has been delayed, distracted, and discouraged by teachings that add man-made conditions to revival that are not from God.

Trying to bring about revival by carnal means is as old as the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, in First Kings. They called out from morning until noon, leaping about the altar, calling with a loud voice and cutting themselves as they “prophesied madly”—and yet there never was any “sound, or answer, and no one who paid any attention.” Elijah prayed, 37 “Hear me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that You O LORD are God, and have turned their hearts back to You.” 38 Then the fire of Jehovah fell…”

God’s conditions for revival have never changed, but human beings keep adding on carnal conditions.  Time and again, revival has appeared when the church has simply repented and surrendered.  The many false teaching we have amassed over the years have produced a list of false preconditions to revival that actually block revival.  Sadly, that list just keeps growing and growing.

Here are some of the counterfeit requirements for revival:

  • We must spiritually map our area—in order to gain revival, we need G.P.S. You cannot expect revival until the map is finished.  So-called ‘spiritual mapping’ replaces the Bible and the leading of the Holy Spirit as a guide for knowing what to do to reach a city.
  • We must identify the name of the ruling demon of our area. In Acts 8, Philip did not mention the name of a ‘boss devil’…he mentioned the Name of Jesus, the Name that makes devils flee…and they did!
  • Spirit travel. People leave their bodies to go and do advance work in different parts of the world for revival. Please don’t defend this by mentioning the story of Phillip in Acts 8—he never left his body.
  • The Fivefold Ministry must be set in place first. While the five office gifts do relate to building up the Body of Christ, they are never mentioned as a precondition of revival. Imagine how Satan laughs because you believe revival is impossible because only four out of the five gifts are in place.
  • Lay on the graves of past heroes. You are to seek out the gravesite of a famous ministry, lay on top of it, and absorb the anointing. No, I am not kidding! Here’s the thing…Jesus is the Anointed One, and any anointing you or I have comes from Him alone.   Knowing this saves us from having a grotesque experience in a graveyard…
  • Revival must come through the ‘gate keepers.’ Self-appointed leaders believe that revival will only come through them. They “protect” their city from revival.  They analyze and oppose outbreaks that do not earn their seal of approval. This is nothing more than a power grab. It is hilarious when ministers attack territorial spirits that bind a region not realizing they are that spirit.
  • Researching history to see who did what to whom. This includes studying Indian tribes, past wars and virtually any kind of injustice and grievance between people groups.   You must get representatives of the ancestors who were ‘done wrong,’ apologize, and get the descendants of the two sides reconciled.  In other words, we are never going to see revival because past injustice is a bottomless pit. Is cultural reconciliation a bad thing? No.  Is it a condition of revival?  Never. I am going to say more about this last one because I consider it the most distracting and damaging counterfeit.

In one large event, a golden opportunity degenerated into race baiting. A minister directed his message to the white people in the audience.  He said that while they did not participate in the injustices of the past—they are guilty by association because they are white.   He told them he believes that in order for this young audience (who had zero to do with slavery, lynching, Jim Crow laws, or any form of segregation) to see revival, they must sit there and endure the ensuing rant:  “I forgive you! I forgive you! I forgive you!”  He finished his outburst by shouting, “Black Lives Matter!” What was this?  Wasn’t this itself racial malice cloaked in sanctimonious hypocrisy—fleshly condemnation masquerading as a precondition of revival?  He thought his remarks honored Azusa Street but they were the opposite spirit of Azusa Street.

On February 22, 1906, William Seymour, a one-eyed man who was the son of a former slave, arrived in Los Angeles, California.  He had not yet spoken in tongues, but was determined to declare the truth of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.  He held a small gathering in the home of Richard and Ruth Asberry at 216 North Bonnie Brae Street in L.A.  On April 14, 1907 they moved the meetings to a small rented storefront at 312 Azusa Street in downtown Los Angeles.

What happened in that humble building exploded into a global force that remains the fastest growing arm of Christianity today, and is now nearly 600 million strong. But back in 1907, The Los Angeles Times newspaper rejected the revival because of what they considered an “inappropriate mixing of the races” and because women were in leadership.  But Seymour was following the direction of the Holy Spirit. He had not set out to fix institutional racism or sexism, and yet the true revival that ensued, broke down those barriers.

The revival was ‘politically incorrect’ in matters of race and gender, but totally correct biblically. How ironic that back when institutional racism did exist, Seymour did not even address it, yet today, when it is does not exist, the minister mentioned above, made it an artificial precondition for revival. For nearly two years, the church in America ignored Azusa Street, and was, instead, fixated on Evan Roberts and the revival in Wales.  In 1907, many prestigious pastors on the East Coast raised a fabulous sum of money to stage a national revival.  It was a spectacular failure.

I fear we are making the same hideous mistakes.  The conditions that bring revival have never changed.  All of the man-made counterfeit add-ons must go! Let’s not study prayer or honor prayer—let’s pray!   Let’s not reflect on the value of seeking revival—let’s seek it!  Let’s not dig up the past—let’s enter into the Glory!

DO YOU LIVE NEAR FRESNO? DON’T MISS OUR NIGHT OF MIRACLES

EVEN WITH

A Trump loss the next election is too terrible to imagine. But even if he wins, we will desperately need a true revival in America. Tragically, the church doesn’t know the difference between true and false revival.

Many of the things the church does today simply do not matter. They don’t point in the trajectory of revival. In fact they point in the opposite direction.   Many things done by churches are impressive, even successful—I am saying they will not save America

We know the times are evil.  But what can we do about it?  That’s the number one question I am asked.  My answer is, “We need to stop toying, speculating, and paying lip service to revival.  We need to seize a true revival.”

The real culprit today is false revival.  There is untold damage done when we take a good meeting and market it as revival.  To characterize a good meeting as revival is like filling a bath tub with salt water, and calling it the Pacific Ocean.

I am not telling you that your ‘good meeting’ is not true revival—because history and our culture are both telling you it is not.  History says revival overflows church walls and makes deep impacts on society, which is not happening.   And when our culture swats away our church meetings and continues to careen into deeper wickedness—it is telling us we are not in revival.

There is one thing—above all others—that is stopping true revival: We don’t have a pure motive.  We want it for all the wrong reasons.  If revival is our ticket to getting church growth, emotional experiences, self-promotion, formulas, and wealth, our prayers are like nuclear waste to God.

The most well known verse on revival begins with a huge ‘IF’:  2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

IF you truly yearn for the miracle that would stop America’s slide into oblivion—IF you wish for an act of the Holy Spirit so real and widespread that it impacts crime, injustice, addiction, and despair—then listen to this lesson from history:

In 1904, American leaders were enthralled by the revival that was then taking place in Wales.  Hundreds of thousands were converted, and the morals of the nation were transformed.  American church leaders wanted a revival like that here.  But they tried to buy it.

These enterprising pastors and businessmen invested in massive campaigns.  They were dismal failures.  So much so, that the very concept of revival fell into disfavor.

Two years later, they realized their mistake.  When widespread brokenness gripped the leaders, aided by a pure motive, they cried out and heaven heard them.   One of the catalysts to this awakening was a man named James Burns.

James Burns wrote a powerful book entitled “Revivals, Their Laws and Leaders.” In 1909 he wrote, “To the church, a revival means humiliation, a bitter knowledge of unworthiness and an open and humiliating confession of sin on the part of her ministers and people. It is not the easy and glorious thing many think it to be, who imagine it fills pews and reinstates the church in power and authority.

“It comes to scorch before it heals; it comes to condemn ministers and people for their unfaithful witness, for their selfish living, for their neglect of the cross, and to call them to daily renunciation, to an evangelical poverty and to a deep and daily consecration. That is why a revival has ever been unpopular with large numbers within the church. Because it says nothing to them of power such as they have learned to love, or of ease, or of success; it accuses them of sin, it tells them they are dead, it calls them to awake, to renounce the world and to follow Christ.”

America, at last, had found a pure motive for revival. New York, Chicago, Los Angeles (at Azusa Street), and many other cities saw amazing things.  Denver, Colorado, and Portland, Oregon, which are currently bastions of marijuana, atheism, and rampant liberalism, shut down businesses at noon so everyone could go and pray.  Crime dropped to virtually nothing.  Bars sat empty, and millions went to prayer everyday across America.

Until our knees buckle beneath the horror of our nation’s sin and the blasphemy of our cheap grace fades away, our request for revival will be denied.

But I still feel faith for the church in America to turn around. More importantly, God holds out great hope to us.  Let me share two things that forever killed my doubts about revival.  One was a scripture, Matthew 12:20: “A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench, till He sends forth justice to victory.”

Jesus will not snuff out the least flicker of revival. When anyone asks for revival from a pure heart, God says, “Yes,” and begins the process. He takes you at your word.

The other thing that occurred was a revelation I received as I was standing at the beach and the gentle foam of the ocean lapped over my toes. The voice of the Lord said, “This gentle wave is the cousin of the tsunami.”

The smallest flame in the smallest church will not be quenched by Jesus.  Given the proper opportunity, the Spirit of God will fan it into a raging fire of righteousness.  The gentlest wave can grow into a tidal wave when anyone hosts within them the presence of God. But they must obey His step-by-step orders, and they must refuse to exploit what God is doing among them.

These two truths are resonating powerfully within me now.  I want them to blow up in your spirit as well! Do you truly want revival?  Then what are you waiting for?

You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.  (Jeremiah 29:13)

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT! JOIN US IF FRESNO

Separate

A massive number of Christians are experiencing a strange miracle.  And we are discovering that this was predicted—in detail.

The Holy Spirit is separating them. He has selected them for special grace and power to accomplish mighty acts at the edge of history. They will be uniquely equipped to face the sophisticated evil of our time. But it all begins by making peace with the Holy Spirit and restoring His rightful place in our hearts and in the church.

Take a close look at the book of Acts and you will see the disarming down-to-earth way they related to the Holy Spirit. While they revered Him deeply, they had a sense of His nearness and His involvement in their day to day operation. They behaved as if He was close by and they could almost see Him. Most of all, they anticipated His instructions.

Acts 13:2 “As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away. 4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus.”

Millions are now hearing the same call: “SEPARATE TO ME!” The Holy Spirit told David Wilkerson about this coming separation, and how pockets of prophetic people would huddle together across our nation.

He said, “God-hungry people are saying among themselves, “This is not it. There is something more. The bigness and the sensationalism of it all has left us empty and dry. We want more. More than entertainment. More than big, showy buildings. More than a shallow celebrity gospel. We want deeper values. We want to see Jesus. We want spotless robes of righteousness. We want to go back to doing things in total dependence on God.”

Many of these people were chased out of churches that were once fiery, Spirit-filled churches that had taken on a new ‘seeker-friendly’ format. They saw their church now focused on church growth, down-playing the presence of the Holy Spirit, and only designed to attract outsiders. They felt punished for wanting a move of God.

They are fed up with the world system—especially when they see it operating in the church.  They can’t stomach the glitzy entertainment centers anymore. They believe we have no time to play games.  They are frustrated that church is catering to the lukewarm members.

They are done with egocentric preachers with grandiose, expensive and carnal visions that having nothing to do with soul winning or revival.  They accuse these preachers of being distracted—even derailed from their first love.   Disciples are abandoning “attraction” churches, and something revolutionary is happening inside them.  God is starting a fresh movement.

David Wilkerson explained more of what he saw coming: “God is revealing to all praying people that a glorious new work of the Spirit is about to break forth. God is going to shake everything that can be shaken. He will tear down the old political, backslidden, ecclesiastical system. He will disown the formal, super-church structure. He will chase out of His presence all who are engaging in self-promoting ministries.”

The praying people he mentions will force changes.  They are a new breed for a new need. They are frustrated, hungry, and their numbers are growing fast.  They are coalescing around certain truths: fasting, repentance, and holy surrender to Christ.

Smith Wigglesworth saw this separation coming way back in 1927.  He predicted the same group of people that  David Wilkerson described: “All the people which are pressing into and getting ready for this glorious attained place where they shall not be found naked, where they shall be blameless, where they shall be immovable, where they shall be purified by the power of the Word of God, have within them a consciousness of the very presence of God within, changing their very nature and preparing them for a greater thing, and causing them to be ready for translation.”

Both men believed that this gathering unto the Holy Spirit would begin after a great falling away.

Wigglesworth said, “We have to see that these days have to come, before the Lord can come. There has to be a falling away. There are in the world two classes of believers. There are believers which are disobedient, or I ought to say there are children which are saved by the power of God which are disobedient children. And there are children which are just the same saved by the power of God, who all the time are longing to be more obedient.”

I know that the moment predicted by these two men is upon us. Every day, I receive another account of frustrated saints who have been suddenly driven to hours of prayer. Many are fasting. A vast number are about to find each other in a true outbreak of holy fire. Millions of believers across America feel they are being separated to the Holy Spirit for some amazing, yet unknown, reason. David Wilkerson talked about a “work” within us. Smith Wigglesworth talked about “pressing in.” The image is clear…the Holy Spirit is stirring souls across the nation. They are done with the overuse of big screens, skinny jeans, and fog machines.

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal! But mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds!

These frustrated saints are being pulled away from fleshly things, even as a spirit of prayer is overtaking them. They are surrendering to a special work of the Holy Spirit. A fresh work of the Holy Spirit has begun, and the impact will soon be widespread in all the earth!

An inconvenient fire

AN INCONVENIENT FIRE

By Mario Murillo

Al Gore spoke of an inconvenient truth. I am talking about something far more imposing: an inconvenient fire.

What is this fire doing?  It is spreading an insatiable hunger to know God: God alone.  A growing number of believers want to know God Himself—they want just Him.  They are not thinking about anything He can do for them.  They must know Him—more than oxygen, food and water—they must have God!

This fire awakens an ancient hunger—the hunger that possessed saints of old.  A.W. Tozer wrote, “Come near to the holy men and women of the past and you will soon feel the heat of their desire after God. They mourned for Him, they prayed and wrestled and sought for Him day and night, in season and out, and when they had found Him the finding was all the sweeter for the long seeking.”

And those who already know Him want to know Him better.  Tozer continued, “Moses used the fact that he knew God as an argument for knowing Him better. “Now, therefore, I pray Thee, if I have found grace in Thy sight, show me now Thy way, that I may know Thee, that I may find grace in Thy sight”; and from there he rose to make the daring request, “I beseech Thee, show me Thy glory.” (Exodus 33) God was frankly pleased by this display of ardor, and the next day called Moses into the mount, and there in solemn procession made all His glory pass before him.”

But why would this inconvenient fire be the worst nightmare to masked Antifa thugs, tepid seeker-friendly churches, or false ministers?   Isn’t this fire pulling saints off the front lines into a full-time pursuit of God?   How can this be a threat?  It is the greatest threat!   NOTHING TERRIFIES SATAN MORE THAN A WIDESPREAD HUNGER TO KNOW GOD:

-It puts them into the place and condition that Jesus has yearned for His church to be.  They are in God’s presence. They are devoid of ideas, agendas, or blueprints.   Their intercession is no longer contaminated.  Prayer is no longer a booster rocket for pet projects.  They are becoming decentralized. They are self-emptying, that they might see God in all His beauty.

God has triumphed over their dead works.  By doing this, He kills the source of their anxiety, their cares, and inadequacies.   David Wilkerson said, “I had more ideas than any preacher in America. Ideas on how to evangelize. How to organize New Testament programs. The programs and ideas were successful enough to entrap me and keep me on the treadmill of busy-ness.

“But all along my heart yearned for more. I knew the blessing was not in building. Not in some well-planned scheme to reach the lost. Not in bigness, and not in activity. I discovered the hard way that the glory of God, the peace, and joy of the Spirit, was in being stripped down, emptied, and made totally weak.”

-They are suddenly alive to the real horror—their own fleshliness.  The issue is no longer the depravity of the culture, but their personal carnality.  This inconvenient fire struck Isaiah with such agony that he tossed aside his prayer for influence and power.  All he can cry is; “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.” (Isaiah 6:5).   Isaiah is unmade, that he might be remade.

In the towering glory, you see the indescribable.   You see how victorious God is.  How inevitable His victory is!  You see Satan’s utter defeat.  You are transfixed by the wisdom that is now available—the resources at Gods’ disposal—the tactics He can use.  His mighty plan makes our plans microscopically puny.

God will declare to you what He said to Isaiah: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.  “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8,9)

-Here’s what makes this fire so inconvenient:  It was simply not part of the plan.

-It was not in the plan for the lukewarm ‘convenient’ church to level off and be overruled by inconvenient fire.  Attraction-based churches fold when God Himself becomes the attraction.

-It was not in the plan for fake ministers to ever stop lying, stop prospering, or fooling the masses.  The light and heat of this fire will expose and topple them.

-It was not in the plan for left-wing God-haters to see their plan to eradicate Christianity from America neutralized by inconvenient fire.

This spreading flame—and the powerful vessels it creates—was simply not in the plan.  Thus a new vessel is about to emerge−a God-designed weapon. An inconvenient sort of person is about to appear on the American stage. A person who will own a passion you cannot stop, who will speak words you cannot counter, and perform miracles you cannot deny.

Join me in seeking this inconvenient fire!

PROGRAMMING BELIEVERS TO BACKSLIDE

A man of God and his wife who are dear friends of mine were placed in an awkward but all too familiar situation. They were with other spiritual leaders when hard liquor was offered to them. They politely refused and slowly excused themselves from the reception trying hard to mask their shock.

That is not the end of it. A “prophet” later confronted them and told them that they were legalistic for not drinking. He went so far as to say that unless they got in line with the new “revelation” of freedom their church would not grow.

This is no longer a case of just saying drinking is okay. Now they are saying you should be drinking if you want to be in the flow. That “flow” is part of a machinery for growth that compromises in many other areas of Christian life—and programs believers to backslide. The Bible predicted this deception…

Isaiah 59:15 says, “So truth fails, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Then the Lord saw it, and it displeased Him That there was no justice.” Some pastors today are preying on church members who seek to be holy…accusing them of a religious spirit.

Have we really come to the point where believers are making themselves a target by pursuing holiness?  The answer is a loud YES! A machine is churning out converts who are being programmed to backslide. And don’t fool yourself, this machine is in spirit-filled churches…even in so-called revival churches.

Holiness is now rejected and called a religious spirit. Satan rejoices at this because it has created the greatest display of false success in the history of the church. Many churches are now conveyor belts that attract people in but then they rapidly fall off at the end of the belt.

In fact, the ones who fall off may be the fortunate ones. There’s at least a chance that they will crash and burn and come to their senses in true repentance. But woe, to those who are backslidden in church but don’t know it because they are taught, they can never backslide.

The growth we celebrate today is a grand illusion that hides the greatest turnover ratio ever.

Doesn’t this explain why so many believers have been bulldozed and reclaimed by the enemy? Doesn’t this point out the reason the church has no authority to push back against the flood of evil in our nation? How can we field an army of warriors when our system sets them up to fail?  Forgive me but I am about to get passionate about this!

How can it be that the very vessels chosen of God to equip the saints instead conspired to create a system that rewards carnality and shames holiness?

Listen to most sermons today. They give the impression the church has exhausted herself trying to serve God, or that she has overdone sacrifice—that now she needs vast portions of comfort food.  That’s the way it sounds when ministers keep telling them to relax, and quit trying so hard, because Daddy is so pleased with them.

Even after there’s proof that a congregation has become a listless, flabby, biblically illiterate, club of moody consumers—preachers will still heap on them one more message of pampered entitlement.  Forgive me for being crude…but it’s kind of like handing a diabetic a case of Snickers bars.

Sundays are too often a celebration of how much God lets you get away with and soothing guarantees that confuse God’s love versus His approval.

1 John 5:4 says “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”  There are two things to take away from this promise: the first is that a major goal of the child of God is to overcome the world. That goal is largely missing in modern preaching—preaching that sees the world as a quasi-friend not as a mortal enemy.  Secondly, it shows us the desperately urgent place of faith—faith that overcomes! That is also missing.

We program failure when it is not clear at the moment of conversion that Christ must become lord of their existence. That is an ultimatum that cannot be postponed. Without it, you are lying to the new convert about the power they will have over evil or any hope of growing in faith. You are also robbing them of the joy of the Lord.

Repentance, spiritual warfare, the authority of the believer are all subjects that would protect the child of God and help them to stand against the enemy. But these preachers never get around to these truths because it will stop the influx of people. Think of that!

Gently suggest the church could go deeper—call for more prayer meetings—voice concern about inappropriately dressed women—tell them you don’t want to party with them, and they will scream, “YOU HAVE A RELIGIOUS SPIRIT!”

What was once normal discipleship, is now legalistic.  Anything that dampens their festivities is judgmental. What have we done?  We have unleashed a counterfeit liberty.  These are not the features of a Spirit-led people.  These are the clear symptoms of people with sick souls deceived and careening toward disaster.

But the final nail in the coffin of this deception is this: It is utterly unnecessary to compromise to get a crowd. Jesus never had trouble getting a crowd. That is why He focused on changing the crowd. Go ahead and boast about growth but you must do it at the expense of truth—the truth that while churches grow, the nation is dying—and the very people tasked by God to save America are having zero impact.

The greatest gift God can send a church is a holy child of God.  Their heart is for revival.  They want the fire, glory and power of God to electrify the church.  Make them your enemy and you have also made an enemy out of God. Woe is you if you have ever called holiness a religious spirit.   God bless you if you love holiness and understand what a treasure it is.  “1 Timothy 6: 6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain.”

Thank God that at this critical hour the Holy Spirit is separating a core to Himself. These are pastors, and regular Christians who are praying to go deeper. They are busy saying to each other, “this side show is not God, there’s more! No way can Satan win if we take our stand on the authority of the cross!”

He is imbuing them with boldness, wisdom, signs and wonders and most of all…a blazing passion for holiness. “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.” – Hebrews 12:14
