Many preachers cry out to God for great signs and wonders. What is the secret?

IMG_0619

America is beyond words.  Only true signs and wonders will reach them now.  Many preachers cry out to God for great signs and wonders in their church services.  What is the secret? We can all learn a vital lesson from Mark 6, a lesson that dramatically changed our meetings.

It was almost by accident that I discovered the single truth that would revolutionize our outreaches.  Most who have followed our ministry can tell you that there is a clear before and after story about MMM.

It happened when I looked at Mark 6. For some reason I looked at the very beginning and the very end of this chapter and made a startling discovery:  The beginning of the chapter records the very worst healing service Jesus ever conducted and the last few verses relate His very best healing service. I had to find out what was going on!

Here are the two contrasts:

  1. Verse 5: “Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.”
  2. Verse 56: “Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.”

Let’s break it down.  Why were there so few miracles in his hometown? The stock answer is unbelief.  But that does not begin to explain it.  Nor does it help us see why there was an opposite extreme at the end of the chapter.

week-12-slide-3

The stock answer is that one group had unbelief and the other had faith.  It goes much deeper than that.

What I discovered was that his relatives 3 things wrong did wrong and the people near the end of the chapter did three things right.  Here are the verses that show what His relatives did and see if you can guess the problem.

Look at Mark 6:1-6   “Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. 2 And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! 3 Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him. 4 But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” 5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.”

Jesus healing

Before we say anything else notice that it does not say Jesus “would not do many miracles.”  It says that “He could not do many miracles.”  The fact is He wanted to heal but met a resistance that stopped miracles.  This is a key to the whole matter.

What I discovered was that his relatives did 2 things wrong did wrong and the people near the end of the chapter did 2 things right.  Here is what His relatives did wrong

  1. They knew Him so well that they did not know Him at all. They did not think that it was special that Jesus was among them because they did not think He was anything special. They made no special arrangements. There was no sense of anticipation that anything wonderful had come to their town.

Note: This was in fact the only place where Jesus ever went that they did not have the sick laid in the marketplace in anticipation of His coming.

  1. They saw no connection between Jesus and the desperate needs of their village. They sat down and took in the sermon as total spectators staring at an oddity. They did not care about anyone but themselves and could not imagine bringing someone else to Christ.  They were his relatives.

Over on the other side of the lake at the end of this chapter the reaction is completely the opposite.

“53 When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there. 54 And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, 55 ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was. 56 Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as any as touched Him were made well.”

  1. They recognized Jesus. The explosive difference is that they recognized Jesus; they didn’t merely “know” Him. The revelation of Jesus, and the implication of what it meant that He was among them, ignited a frenzy of excitement and action.  They saw Him as the healer, deliverer and life giver.
  2. They ran and began to carry others to wherever they heard He was. Because they recognized Him they made an instant connection between to the sickness and despair of those they knew and loved. They raced to get the needy to Christ.

Jesus has two kinds of people that relate to Him:  Relatives and Worshippers.  You are either a Relative or a Worshipper.  Entire congregations are either one or the other and the kind of meetings they have extend from their identity.

We began to enforce the fact that Jesus will be present in all of our gatherings and that this meant there was no regular meeting.  We instilled the revelation of what it meant to have Him present.  We provoked the excitement and expectation to the degree that the people run and get those who need miracles into our meetings.  Jesus meets them there everytime!

Some Breaking News from Mario Murillo Ministries: A Miracle of Reignited Revival.

Some Breaking News from Mario Murillo Ministries: A Miracle of Reignited Revival.

MMM Staff

To our Friends around the world we bring you exciting news:

Without warning the fire of God fell again last night in Santa Rosa.  We are extending our stay one more night!  We say without warning because it was an event that wasn’t even supposed to happen.  The possibility of Mario Murillo Ministries returning to Santa Rosa was slim to none.  Read on we’ll explain.

First a little history: How last night came to be is a miracle story all by its self.  In 2012 we came to Santa Rosa for Memorial Day weekend.  We ended up staying until October!  Tens of thousands of lives were eternally transformed by the resident glory of God that crowned the city for those months.

There was a visible change on the streets of Santa Rosa.  A new age counterculture persona defined the city and there was open hostility to Christ.  That is until the fire began to spread and the attitude changed.  People were open-hearted to those who handed out tracts and cards about Christ and the ongoing Santa Rosa Fire.

Inside of Living Word Family Church hundreds testified to divine healing and diverse supernatural manifestations were reported.  The services had to be moved to larger meetings halls three times!

In early October 2014 it all  seemed to be over.  When a meeting of this kind is over it is extremely unlikely that you can ever recapture the original fire.  There are many reasons for this but one very big reason is that the temptation to relive the past almost  always squelches the power of God.

Final blog 4

Mario remembered his most cherished moment in Santa Rosa:  A breakfast with over a hundred leaders in the historic Church of the One Tree.  It seemed that nothing could stop us now that unity had come.  The unity did not reach its destiny.

So it was over and history shows that areas where revival has come can get burned over.  As we said the odds of returning were long indeed.

An intense desire to finish what God started in Santa Rosa began to grow in Mario for the last several weeks.  He was gripped by a passion to take back what Satan had stolen.  With that the date of November 2, 2014 was set.

We all expected a good meeting but this was way beyond a good meeting.  The Glory returned, the fire consumed our fears, the Holy Spirit released His gifts of healing power and left us overcome by God’s mercy and goodness.  The fever to win souls and touch lives gripped the crowd.  We knew that we could not leave town!

So we are all coming back  tonight.  The meeting will begin at 7 PM.  Only Jesus knows how amazing tonight is going to be!

Last night felt as if there was never a break.  We literally took up where we left off.  Only this time there is a conviction that will keep the fire raging!  If you are anywhere near Santa Rosa and can drive to the miracle rally tonight, we cannot overstate it…you must try to get here and bring those who need healing for the body and the soul!

It is just like Jesus to rekindle a fire at the most unlikely time and in a unexpected location on the eve of one of the most important elections in American History.  If at all possible get here tonight!

Taking Back Stolen Fire!

Taking Back Stolen Fire!

By Mario Murillo

Santa Rosa saw a true revival.   When people from a hundred mile radius commute almost every day for 15 weeks and crowd out the church well before starting time, it is revival.  When healings go off like fireworks in every part of a meeting hall and sinners coming sobbing to the front by the score every night, it is revival.

What was my personal highlight of the Santa Rosa Fire?  It was that moment of unity over breakfast with pastors at the famous Church of the One Tree.  This was one of the most supernaturally orchestrated gatherings ever.

My spiritual father Ralph Wilkerson lives 450 miles south of Santa Rosa, and yet he got a word from God that if the pastors of Santa Rosa would meet in the Church of the One Tree, God would fall on the region.  This Church was constructed entirely from one Redwood Tree in 1870 and was made world famous by Ripley’s Believe or Not.   The building is owned by Santa Rosa and was moved to Juilliard city park.

Pastor Steve Puleo knowing nothing about the message from Ralph Wilkerson felt led to reserve this church and was about to tell us when we told him about the word from the Lord.  I can’t tell you how we rejoiced at this miracle!

The date was set for Thursday August 30, 2012.  Here is the letter that went out:

Dear Church, Ministry, and Business Leader,

“In response to the ongoing revival services with Mario Murillo, now in its ninth consecutive week, churches in Santa Rosa will be hosting a regional prayer breakfast for pastors and business leaders. This gathering will take place on Thursday, August 30th at 8:30 am, and is located at the historic Church Of One Tree in Juilliard Park in Santa Rosa. Mario will address this sustained move of God and its implications to this region and beyond. This is a significant opportunity to unite under the banner of God’s Kingdom will, and join our hearts in prayer for a move of God that will revive the Church and transform our culture for the glory of His Son.”

One Tree

Pictured above is the historic gathering in the the Church of the one Tree.  It was a glorious time of rejoicing and burying hatchets.  Our hearts burned with unity and faith.  We knew that the revival would now rage into a regional awakening embracing all races and crossing denominational lines…but, the thing is, it didn’t.

Evangelists are rarely this candid so listen up!    Satan rose up and blunted what could have been a historic turning for millions.  There are 3 reasons that the Santa Rosa Fire did not reach its destiny:

  1. It is a mystery
  2. I can’t tell you yet
  3. Some leaders felt threatened

frightening people copy

However this blog is not about correcting leaders.  It is about a work that Christ has done in me to bring me back to Santa Rosa.   When Satan robs you, you have to take it back!   I should have known better than to simply walk away.

There is no such thing as a revival that is not challenged by Lucifer.  He is insulted and threatened by revival.  Revival affects him like nothing else.   He rages against it.

Jesus gave me 1 Samuel 30: 8 So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”

I am asking the soldiers of Northern California to come join me for a fresh outpouring tomorrow in Santa Rosa!

America, today in a very real way, we are all from Santa Rosa.  If this weekend becomes what I believe it will become, revivalists across the land will be ignited to recapture any fire that the enemy has stolen.
