Scalia: ‘Don’t cram’ religious neutrality ‘down throats of American people’

By Rebecca Kheel –

The idea that the U.S. government should be neutral about religion is not supported by the Constitution and is not rooted in American history, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia said Saturday.

“God has been very good to us,” Scalia said at a speech at a Catholic high school in Louisiana, according to the Times-Picayune. “One of the reasons God has been good to us is that we have done him honor.”

Scalia, a Catholic, is one of the court’s more conservative members. He recently caused uproar over remarks on affirmative action.

On Saturday, he said the First Amendment prohibits the government from endorsing one religion over another. But, he added, that doesn’t mean the government has to favor non-religion over religion.

He argued that’s a more modern reading originating in the courts in the 1960s.

He also said there is “nothing wrong” with presidents and others invoking God in speeches, according to The Associated Press.

If Americans want to the government to be non-religious, he said, they should vote on it instead of courts deciding.

“Don’t cram it down the throats of an American people that has always honored God on the pretext that the Constitution requires it,” he said, according to the Times-Picayune.

WHEN A MAYOR AND AN EVANGELIST TEAM UP TO IMPACT A CITY

WHEN A MAYOR AND AN EVANGELIST TEAM UP TO IMPACT A CITY

By Mario Murillo

When a Mayor and an evangelist work together copy

John Dukes, Mayor of Yuba City, and I are bound by different covenants.  It is his job to faithfully execute his oath of office.  It is my job to obey a heavenly vision.  We are both servants of God and where our callings meet is in the genuine desire to help Yuba City.

In this current time of national division, it takes courage for any civic leader to declare that the Gospel holds the greatest hope for a community.  John has stood before the crowd night after night to declare his belief in miracles and the power of the Gospel to make a city better.

At no time does he try to divide or abuse his authority as mayor.  He is building a consensus among various groups for the good of the city.  To him, this is a logical part of that goal.

He recognizes, as I do, the fever in government today to silence the benefit of faith in the fight against addiction and crime.  We believe it is time for government to let God work in our nation.  It is insane to ignore the power of God to handle our deepest crisis as a nation.

He and I are taking a bold step of faith.  We are teaming up to prove what Jesus can do for a city.  It is our prayer that the results will be so undeniable that it will help remove the stigma of religion and silence those who hate God in our government.

But the lesson here is not just for anti-God politicians, it is also for Christians.  For reasons that are too numerous to list, many Christians have been afraid to show the power of God to society.

There is a deliberate attempt in these meetings to eschew emotionalism without losing fervor.  We want Jesus to overshadow the method so that people will see miracles in plain view.  We get out of God’s way so that He could demonstrate His love and power in a way that main street will admit…something real is happening…it is the key to our children’s future and our way of life.

Mayor blog 3

We are not here to colonize Yuba City.  We are here to be a helping hand to the downtrodden and forgotten among us.  We have no agenda, just a Savior.  We are to go about doing good deeds.

Healing is one of those good deeds.  A piercing example of this is Peter before the Sanhedrin, after the paralyzed man was healed at the gate, Beautiful.  Acts 4:8, “Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, ‘Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: 9 If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, 10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.’”

Teaming up for the good of a city is a wonderful thing.  It has already produced important results.  We believe that the best is yet to come.  Please pray for Living Proof Yuba City!

P.S.  We are gearing up for a fresh outreach to Yuba City.  The tent is gone but the fire still burns brightly.  Get ready for the next phase of this miracle of God.  We will be announcing the next series of Living Proof Yuba City very soon.

Black disappointment with Obama threatens Democrats

Black disappointment with Obama threatens Democrats

BY DAVID LIGHTMAN

McClatchy Washington BureauOctober 23, 2014

Akua Scott and Aaron McKinney (left and center), community organizers in South Florida, speak with customers at Jackson’s Soul Food restaurant, a popular gathering place for many living in District 24, about voter turnout, in Overtown, Fla. “We had this idea once we got the first black president all our problems will be solved,” said McKinney on Oct. 9, 2014. PETER W. CROSS — McClatchy

MIAMI — Black voters’ disappointment with President Barack Obama, who they so eagerly embraced for so many years, could be costly on Election Day to Democrats, who badly need a big African-American turnout to win Senate and gubernatorial races in key states.

Instead, many African-Americans see an unemployment rate well above the national average, continuing problems with crime in many neighborhoods, and a president more interested in trying to help other voting blocs that didn’t give him such unwavering support.

He talks about same-sex marriage in a nod to the gay and lesbian community. He discusses immigration and its benefits, an issue particularly important to the Latino community. He fights for equal pay, a vital issue to the women Democrats so avidly court.

The black community, which gave Obama support like no other group, too often doesn’t see the investment paying off.

“People in this community just don’t think anything is going to change,” said Akua Scott, a Miami-based labor organizer.

Instead of obvious improvements in the economy, jobs can be tough to get and despair remains a constant.

“A lot of people don’t understand how government works. They think the president is a savior,” she said.

Obama remains hugely popular among blacks; last month’s McClatchy-Marist poll found 86 percent approved of the job he’s doing. But the disapproval number was 12 percent, double its level just after the 2012 election.

In Miami’s Overtown neighborhood, a historic black community, people don’t necessarily blame the president for making it hard to get a job or stay financially afloat, but they had hoped for more.

“We had this idea that once we got the first black president, all our problems would be solved,” said Aaron McKinney, a Miami community organizer. He walked around the Jackson Soul Food restaurant in Overtown one day recently urging people to vote.

“People are happy to see a black man as president, but people in this environment see no way out,” said Dorrell Brown, a Miami longshoreman. “This is what they’ve believed for a long time, and it’s not changing.”

He and others echoed the views of some leading black scholars and commentators who have criticized Obama for not doing enough for the black community.

“He posed as a progressive and turned out to be counterfeit,” Cornel West, a professor of philosophy and Christian practice at Union Theological Seminary in New York City, told Salon.com in August.

Democrats badly need black voters to turn out in November. Its most endangered Senate incumbents last ran in 2008, the year Obama first won the presidency.

When blacks stay home, Democrats in states with large African-American constituencies often lose. In Florida, former Gov. Charlie Crist, running as a Democrat, needs those voters. Florida’s black voters gave Obama 95 percent of the 2012 presidential vote and made up 13 percent of the electorate.

Two years earlier, in the state’s 2010 gubernatorial election, their share was 11 percent. The drop in turnout hurt. Though blacks gave Democrat Alex Sink 93 percent of their vote, Republican Rick Scott, who’s now running against Crist, won by 1 percentage point.

Black turnout could matter in governors races in Arkansas, Maryland, Michigan, Georgia and South Carolina, and it also could be crucial in swinging a handful of Senate races this year.

In Louisiana, Sen. Mary Landrieu, a Democrat, has a tough road to re-election. She last won six years ago, when the black vote was 29 percent of the total and gave her a 96 percent to 2 percent majority, according to exit polls. That more than offset her 2-to-1 losing ratio among whites.

In North Carolina, another Democrat, Sen. Kay Hagan, is also battling for another term. In 2008, blacks were 19 percent of the vote and Hagan rolled up a 96-1 win while losing the white vote by 18 percentage points. She won that race with 53 percent. Strong black turnout could also be crucial to Democrats in Georgia, Kentucky and Arkansas.

Turnout historically plunges in midterm elections, which lack the glamor of the presidential race. Candidates are not as well-known, and unless there’s a compelling issue that affects a lot of people personally, such as a reeling economy, many see little personal stake in voting.

Democrats have a dilemma. Obama is increasingly unpopular in key states, and promoting him too heavily, let alone bringing him in to campaign, would be a political liability. But not sending him there means the party can’t use an important weapon to motivate its most loyal constituency.

So the Democrats are trying a variety of tactics to stir the vote. Obama’s organizational infrastructure is still regarded as strong, and the Congressional Black Caucus is active in Freedom Sunday, a campaign that began a month ago and centers on African-American church organizations.

Black leaders are also stoking fears that a Republican Senate takeover will make life miserable. Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio, the Congressional Black Caucus chairwoman, warned that Obama’s impeachment would be high on the agenda if Republicans run Congress. Some conservatives have floated the idea, but it is considered highly unlikely to go anywhere.

Democrats also remind black voters that many Republicans back laws that require voters to show photo IDs at the polls. Many in the black community regard such laws as an effort to suppress their votes, because studies have shown a disproportionate number of minority voters lack government-issued photo IDs.

Republicans say they, too, are unusually active. Lingering economic problems in the black community “create a window of opportunity for us to go into these communities and share our message,” said Orlando Watson, a Republican Party spokesman. Unemployment among blacks was 11 percent last month, well above the 5.9 percent national average.

Republicans for two years have had a three-step process for luring black voters. Party workers in 13 key states first engage the voters, then try to build trust, and finally push them to vote. So far they say they’ve reached out to about 200,000 black voters.

Getting African-Americans to vote for anyone this year is clearly going to be difficult. Louisiana’s black share of the vote plunged from 29 percent in 2008 to 24 percent in 2010, and in Kentucky, it dropped from 11 percent to 6 percent.

Democrats figure they just have to break through with the kind of pointed message Rep. Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y., chairman of the black caucus’ political action committee, offers.

“We have to convince people this is like voting in a presidential election,” he said.

In direct response to a threatening letter let me tell you who to vote for on Tuesday November 4th

The midterm elections are a matter of life and death and the Church must not be cowed out of her power to vote by illegal covenants.

It was a dark day for the Church when the 501C3 clause was created.  It is anti-God, anti-American and anti-free speech.  In the 1950s, then Senator Lyndon Johnson did not like the way churches were talking about him, so he finagled a way to silence them by attaching this censorship of the church to a preexisting bill.  Henceforth any church that wanted Government recognition as a nonprofit Corporation had to agree not to say anything political from the pulpit.

The fact is that the Constitution already recognized the church.  No further recognition was necessary.  The church made a stupid deal with the devil.

I am prepared to confront it head on!   So let me tell you who to vote for.

I have only tepid feelings toward the Republican Party.  The established leadership abandoned its Reagan conservative roots for a wishy washy vision.  They do not have enough ideas on how to fix our nation.  That said, right now they are in my opinion our only choice.

The Democratic Party has declared open war on Christianity, American exceptionalism, marriage, the unborn and Israel.  Whatever doubt you may have about this should have been erased at the Democratic National Convention when the convention booed the idea of even inserting the word “God” into their platform.dictatorship blog inert

Obama has abused power again and again.  They abused the parliamentary tactic known as reconciliation to force Obamacare down our throats.  They did not even know what was in the bill or what it would do to the people.  As Nancy Pelosi said so well “We are going to pass it and then we are going to read it”   Never in history has a bill that was so sweeping (controlling one eighth of the entire economy) ever passed with all votes from one party.

Today we live in terror of Islamic extremists  because Democratic Senators lived in terror of Obama.   They will not openly oppose even the most insane behavior ever to come out of the White (Benghazi).  They presided over the dismantling of our economy, marriage and freedom of religion.  They never stood up to him and his rogue government.  As a matter of fact, they offered up the most exasperating excuses and explanations for what is undoubtedly the worse train wreck of presidency we have ever known.

Now they want your vote anyway.  Now they are implying they are not like him.   Yet, they will still enforce Obama’s policies long after he is gone.   For this reason alone they need to go or we will have no chance at all to undo the damage of Obama.

The 2014 midterms have all of the earmarks of a last chance for our nation.  The democrats have help make our world dangerous, atheistic, immoral and miserable.   This is true whether you are black, white Latino or Asian.

How ironic that at this moment Obama may be the only Democrat who is telling the truth about November 4th.  Every democrat running for office says this is not about Obama and now twice Obama has said that this election is indeed about him!

Right now, you Democratic candidates are running from Obama more than you are running for office.   But you can’t run.  You own your voting record and you own the wreckage of Obama.

Who should you vote for?  Go to the polls armed with only one fact in mind…did the candidate vote for Obama?  If they did then they need to go!

What about the lukewarm Republicans?  Yeah, well I want to give them a chance to lead…not by acclamation but by default.

Benghazi Massacre Blog copy

That is one more reason we need to display outrage in these midterms:  Let the Republicans feel the power of national outrage and keep your outrage handy so that the republicans will know we can fire them just as easily as Democrats.

Thomas Jefferson said it best “When the people fear the government you have tyranny but when the government fears the people you have liberty.”

Mario aren’t you afraid that your ministry will be attacked?  If it is attacked it will be because I am standing on the Word of God and the Constitution of the United States.  I cannot think of a better place to stand.

There are books that you choose and then there are books that choose you.  This book choose me and its contents captured me in a way that few books ever have.  I consumed it at one sitting.  “I could not put it down,” is not just a cliché, for me it was literally true.   I have been desperate to communicate a message to America. This book does it better than any I know.

Please get your copy of Citizen Sheep Government Shepherd.  I am not getting a dime for telling you this.  –  Mario

From the Book:

If you listen carefully, virtually every political debate is about control. Whether the debate is in a coffee shop, on the floor in Congress or in the media, it is about control. Who has control over the money you earn? You, or the government? Who has control over the property you own? You, or the government? Who takes control of your worldly goods when you pass on? Your heirs, or the government? The Government Shepherds herd us and shear us, and swear they are doing it because they love sheep. After you finish this book, you should know better. The author brings a unique list of life experiences to the subject of government. Before serving in the U.S. Congress, Mike Sodrel logged over a million miles driving semis and motor coaches and he still holds a Commercial Drivers License (CDL). He was a former Staff Sergeant who was later briefed by military generals as a Member of Congress, and a bank messenger who later served on the Board of Directors of a bank. His first paycheck came from bagging groceries, and he wound up employing hundreds. He is self-educated in history and philosophy, with a writing style that makes complicated issues easy to understand. Citizen Sheep, Government Shepherds is written for the people he worked with in real life.

What people are saying about Citizen Sheep Government Shepherds:

“I follow politics and consider myself a student of the US Constitution, but I learned many new things from this book. I give it my highest recommendation. There’s no agenda to the concepts that US Congressman Mike Sodrel teaches. He’s not preachy or flowery with his language. Anyone from a pre-teen to a WWII hero will enjoy this great book based on history and undeniable observation of facts.Mr Sodrel is simply a sharp patriot with an amazing story of hard work and achievement. He has a deep love for what the great nation of the U.S. once was and still could be. This book is a great warning sign for those who would fall victim to the great promises of an all caring big Government. One of the most brilliant parts of the book in my opinion is when he teaches about the political spectrum being a big circle – not a flat line. Liberty is the polar opposite of Govt. control and Govt. ownership (both are equally insidious). My conclusion: No matter what form it comes in (Govt. control or Govt. ownership) it always has been and always will be an enemy of Liberty and Freedom.”
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
“Mike Sodrel has given us an excellent introduction to the modern political landscape in America. He starts with a very brief family history so you know where he’s coming from. There are many nuggets of wit and wisdom from his rich personal life experience, which includes a much too brief version of his own classic American “rags to riches” and “self made man” biography. Through hard work, Sodrel went from being carless and homeless to owning his own companies, and becoming a U.S. Congressman. For the purpose of educating the young people of the next generation(s), he keeps his chapters and sentences short, and he includes many straightforward dictionary definitions and explanations of many of the terms you hear in political discussions today: fascism, socialism, communism, freedom, liberty, Christian Right, religious left, church and state, Constitution, government, self-government, etc. If you are like me, a parent looking for an easy way to explain some of these concepts to your children, this book is a great place to start.”

This is Mario again.  I want to make it clear that I am not being paid a dime to recommend this book to you.   I simply want you to buy it and read it.  It is available for a great price on Amazon.   I said it before nothing you will read will open your eyes to what is happening right now like this book.  It is not a hysterical rant but a totally compelling case to expose the real enemy of America.  Click on this link to get your copy.    http://Amazon.com     or     http://www.mikesodrel.com

TEACHER REPORTEDLY SEIZES FIRST-GRADER’S CHRISTMAS GIFT AND TRASHES AFFIXED RELIGIOUS STORY.

TEACHER REPORTEDLY SEIZES FIRST-GRADER’S CHRISTMAS GIFT AND TRASHES AFFIXED RELIGIOUS STORY

Jan. 7, 2014 9:00am
First-grade teacher in California told a student that “Jesus is not allowed in school” before removing a religious story the child affixed to candy canes in celebration of Christmas last month, a non-profit legal firm claims.

The incident reportedly unfolded on Dec. 13, when 6-year-old Isaiah Martinez brought gifts for his peers to Merced Elementary School in West Covina, Calif.

According to a press release distributed by Advocates for Faith & Freedom, the firm handling the case, “Each gift consisted of a traditional candy cane with a message attached that recited the legend of the candy cane. The legend references a candy maker who created the candy cane to symbolize the life of Jesus Christ.”

And that’s where the controversy comes in.

According to the legal group, when Martinez presented the gifts, he was met with major resistance from his teacher, who reportedly took the candy canes and removed the Christian story affixed to them.

“After conferring with the school principal, the teacher told Isaiah that ‘Jesus is not allowed in school’ and, at the apparent direction of her principal, ripped the candy cane message from each candy cane, threw the messages in the trash, and handed the candy canes back to Isaiah for delivery to his classmates,” the press release continued. “Isaiah then nervously handed the candy canes to his classmates in fear that he was in trouble for trying to bring a little Christmas cheer and ‘good tidings’ to class.”

Now, Advocates for Faith & Freedom is demanding an apology from West Covina Unified School District, calling for policies that would restrict “bullying and intimidating Christian students and religiously affiliated students.”

The legal firm sent a letter to the district outlining its views on the matter.

“It is in the best interest for everyone if the school sets an example of tolerance of differing viewpoints, whether it be on Christmas, about religious subjects, or about cultural issues, that kids in public schools should have a right to hold differing views,” Robert Tyler, an attorney representing Martinez, told the Los Angeles Daily News. “The courts have, multiple times, upheld the rights of students to express themselves to each other.”

KNBC-TV reported that district leaders are reviewing the situation, with Superintendent Debra Kaplan explaining in a written statement that officials’ intent is to “honor and respect the beliefs of all students in matters of religion.”

“At the present time, we do not have any reason to believe that the teacher or any other district employee had any intention other than to maintain an appropriate degree of religious neutrality in the classroom and to communicate this to the child in an age-appropriate manner,” Kaplan said.

The school district has until Jan. 13 to respond before legal avenues could be taken.

The incident raises questions about church-state separatism and students’ personal rights in the classroom. It is reminiscent of another case in Texas surrounding candy canes in the classroom — one that has been dancing through the courts for the past decade.

THE MOST SHOCKING THING THAT ANYONE HAS EVER SAID TO ME.

HEADER

In this blog I am going to tell you the most shocking thing that anyone ever said to me. You may notice that I have not blogged in several weeks but the silence has not been because of compromise or fear. I have stayed away from the blog… to prayerfully recalibrate its goals and its direction.

I took a look back to the very beginning of this blog and assessed its direction in prayer. While I do not recant any of the things I have written it is clear that Christ is requiring of me a higher level of effectiveness in communicating.

The most urgent balance that God is asking me to maintain has to do with winning souls in our nation. My entire foray into the political arena was solely because of my passion to win souls.

I have always suspected that the greatest threat to evangelism in the United States is coming from the White House.  This is not a leadership that is inspired by values but is driven by its animosities.  Something had to be said and something still needs to be said about how our nation’s leader has targeted the gospel of Jesus Christ.

That is why, you will continue to hear vital insights to how your faith is under assault, how God is asking you to take action, and the great hope that we still have for America to be one nation under God.

When the Holy Spirit led me to begin blogging and to convey to you my audience the justifiable alarm that I felt over the loss of our freedoms the cancerous relationship between media and the White House I received a mixture of praise and condemnation unlike any I had experienced in my entire ministry.

Take a close look around you and you will notice that many Christian leaders are now speaking out against our government that were formerly afraid to do so.  The failure of this administration and its animosity toward Christian values is so blatantly clear to all that even the most squeamish pastor is now reevaluating their silence.

squeamish

There are two things we have not yet done in this blog: one is to ask you to partner with us to win souls across the United States and the other is to ask for your fervent prayer support as we lay the groundwork for a massive invasion of souls in 9 West Coast Cities starting tonight.

It was the most shocking thing that anyone has ever said to me.  What made it even more shocking is the person who said it to me.  He is a man that I trust with my life.  He is one of the greatest soul winners in history.  He is a man that has weathered our nation’s worst storms in the last 60 years of ministry. He is man whose name you would immediately recognize.

“Mario, you are facing the worst time in American history for soul winning.”  Those words hit me like the proverbial Mack truck.  He could tell that he had gotten my attention.  Then he put in a nutshell his sobering case for why crusading for souls in America today is worse than ever before:

The White House is obsessed with a worship of government.  They have such an irrational reliance on a higher power that it paralyzes all debate and consideration of cures outside of their god.

Government worship has brought rampant apathy, a lackadaisical work ethic, and an incurable sense of entitlement.  Our $17 trillion debt was born out of this blind faith.

This God of government is a jealous God that will do anything to stay in power.  This beast  will make and enforce laws against any threat to its existence.

It sees the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the single greatest threat to its power and is in full fury to ban it altogether. It uses the issue of contraceptives to remove religious freedom, the IRS to target preachers who oppose abortion and defend traditional marriage. It intends to abuse hate crime laws to silence people of faith, religious groups, clergy, and those who support traditional moral values. This is why it passed more laws in the last 5 years to hinder or ban soul winning than in the previous 237 years.

2. The entertainment industry’s war on Christians: Why does our popular culture seem so consistently hostile to the values that most Americans hold dear?  Why does the entertainment industry attack religion, glorify brutality, undermine the family, and deride patriotism?

Hollywood has broken faith with its public, creating movies, television, and popular music that exacerbate every serious social problem we face, from teenage pregnancies to violence in the streets.

3. Rampant apostasy in the church. Even old-line Christian denominations are modernizing their doctrine, bending the curve to accept things that are forbidden in the Bible.  Hypergrace and new age hybrids of the Gospel downplay hell and the great commission.

4. Abuse of end time prophecy in the church. Many Christians see no point to winning souls because they believe that the events of today are a part of God’s plan for the end of the world.

Let all who believe America is doomed read this: God had just pronounced judgment on Israel when these surprising words came from Joel 2: 12-14 “Now, therefore,” says the Lord, “Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.  Who knows if He will turn and relent, And leave a blessing behind Him? The most powerful words to me are “Who knows.”  Who knows if it is too late for America?  Who knows if God may not have mercy on us one more time?

There is the horrifying picture.  At the very moment in history when America’s survival rests solely on repenting and returning to Christ, soul winners get a soul crushing double whammy: persecution from without and betrayal from within.

GRAVE

Then the spiritual general then said to me “The Gospel is supernatural.  The gates of hell cannot prevail against the church.  God has declared that ‘His word will not return void.’  These times are so bad that they are good.  It is at a time like that that God pours out His Spirit.  Then he gave me a grave stare and said, “But Mario, time is running out and whatever you are going to do you have to do it now!”

And you know what? That is exactly what we are going to do. In the worst time ever for soul winning, we are going to mount the biggest West Coast outreach in our history.  We cannot afford it, sleepy churches will not join us, and the hordes of hell will oppose it.  We will rent arenas beyond our budget, wade into hellholes where we are hated and preach a message that experts say no one wants to hear.  Because of all of this, we expect amazing results.

We are convicted by the words of Jonathan who said, “Come; let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.” -1 Samuel 14:6

SLEEPY copy

Am I right about you? I have sent this letter to only an elite group of people.  You got this letter because I believe that you love America and lost souls. I must test that belief and our friendship.  In a different time and place I would not be so bold with you.   I am asking you for a one time gift at the end of the year to fill our war chest.  I am asking you to give perhaps the largest gift you have ever given to this or any ministry.

Astonishing, isn’t it? America has fallen so far, so fast.  This ministry has no choice now; we must empty our accounts, marshal every available soldier and charge into the harvest. Maybe you cannot go with me but your gift of love can.  Your extra bold gift will buy us the precious tools to win souls, and lock in the venues where miracles will overflow. You will have a part in every life that is saved!

Maybe you meant to give more this year. Maybe you haven’t given to this ministry in a long time.  No matter what, make this your courageous stand against the destruction of America.

Billy Graham’s Last Message?

Rev. Billy Graham Prepares ‘Perhaps … My Last Message’

Sunday, 06 Oct 2013 09:46 PM

By David A. Patten

In an exclusive interview, the Rev. Billy Graham tells Newsmax that President Obama’s “hope and change” mantra is nothing more than a cliché and warns that the nation faces increasing threats to civil and religious liberties from its government.

Graham, who is preparing for possibly his last crusade, this time via video, said America is drenched in a “sea of immorality” and suggested that the second coming of Christ is “near.”

Graham, who turns 95 in November, and just published his book, “The Reason for My Hope: Salvation,” was asked whether he believes the government may be so large and powerful, in light of the pervasive collection and monitoring of digital communications, that it becomes an inherent threat to basic human liberties.

“Our early fathers led our nation according to biblical principles,” Graham wrote in response. “‘Hope and change’ has become a cliché in our nation, and it is daunting to think that any American could hope for change from what God has blessed,” he stated, an obvious reference to President Obama’s campaign motto.

“Our country is turning away from what has made it so great,” he continued, “but far greater than the government knowing our every move that could lead to losing our freedom to worship God publicly, is to know that God knows our every thought; he knows our hearts need transformation.”

Graham continues to share his message of God’s love, a message he has imparted faithfully for decades, despite faltering health in recent years.

He was hospitalized for pneumonia in 2011 and again last year due to a lung infection. He held his first crusade in September 1947, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He would go on to present over 400 crusades in 185 countries. But in the United States, he has probably received the most media attention for his role as a spiritual adviser to many presidents.

To say Graham’s ministry has had a far-flung impact would be an understatement. His staff has estimated that Graham led some 3.2 million people to faith in Christ.

When he made Gallup’s top 10 list of Most Admired Men in January, it marked the 56th time he made the list since 1955 — more than anyone else.

But perhaps his greatest legacy will be the members of his own family who carry on the spiritual tradition he established in 1950 when he founded the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA).

They include son Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the BGEA, and also the global Samaritan’s Purse charitable ministry.

Many believing Christians believe in a coming Armageddon, a final battle between good and evil prophesied in the book of Revelation.

Graham tells Newsmax it is not wise to “speculate” about the dates of such a battle, but he adds that the Bible says that there “will be signs pointing toward the return of the Lord.”

“I believe all of these signs are evident today,” Graham wrote, adding that “the return of Christ is near.

“Regardless of what society says, we cannot go on much longer in the sea of immorality without judgment coming,” he says.

Graham’s ministry work continues at a tireless pace, one that many would consider miraculous. This month, Graham is launching a video series that will be part of a national Gospel-presentation program called “My Hope America.”

Graham shared with Newsmax that “My Hope America” may be his last Gospel outreach.

“It could perhaps be my last message,” he wrote, “which is this: Christ is our hope for today and our promise for tomorrow. And it is fulfilled in the great work he did for mankind on the cross when he paid the penalty for our sin.”

Full Interview Follows:

Newsmax: Since your first crusade in Grand Rapids, Mich., in 1947, traditional moral standards in America have changed radically, with attacks on traditional marriage and abortion and divorce. In an increasingly secular world, can even non-believers find ‘hope’ – to borrow a word from your book title?

Rev. Billy Graham: Absolutely non-believers can find hope, because all people have sinned and come short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). But the Bible also tells us that God our Savior desires all people to be saved and to come into the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4 NKJV). Real hope is found only in the God of hope. To demonstrate this to mankind, He sent His only Son to earth to bring redemption to people’s souls. God stands by ready to grant salvation to all who believe in Him. ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only [Son], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life’ (John 3:16 NKJV). Do not miss the importance of this wonderful phrase ‘in Him.’ When we step into an airplane, fasten our seatbelts and the wheels leave the runway, we have placed our physical being and our complete faith not only in the aircraft, but in the pilot and crew. When we receive salvation offered to us by Jesus Christ, we are committing our entire being—our physical, emotional, and spiritual life — to Him because we put our faith in Him — in everything He has said, done, and promised.

What is the biggest spiritual danger America currently faces?

There was a headline recently about more Americans tailoring religion to fit their needs; mixing a little Christianity with the religions of the world. It is called a ‘trendy faith.’ Society does not object to this kind of faith. We have dismissed God, resulting in skewed thinking and consciences that are desensitized to right and wrong, basing moral decisions solely on what ‘fits in’ with our individual preferences. I watch the news daily and my heart is burdened. When I hear despair in people’s voices, when I see the turmoil on their faces, it tells me that hopelessness abounds. This is my reason for writing the book, to proclaim that there is a way out and it is through Jesus Christ who came to save us from self-destruction. People go on a search for anything but God. Many people do not want to face the truth of the Gospel. They water it down to a myth, causing young and old to doubt the authority of the Bible. We as a nation have turned our back on God who blessed our country because its fundamental principles were grounded in the Word of God. People want designer religion, but I pray that they instead will submit to their Creator who longs to become their God and Savior. He has designed eternal life in Heaven for all those who receive His salvation.

One chapter in your book is titled “He Is Coming Back.” Do you think the biblical requirements of the End Times have largely been fulfilled, and are we on the verge of an “Armageddon” event that may presage the return of Jesus?

While we are told not to speculate about dates, God keeps His promises and this is why we can be sure that the return of Christ is near. Scripture tells us that there will be signs pointing toward the return of the Lord. I believe all of these signs are evident today. What a time to take the news of the day in one hand and the Bible in the other and watch the unfolding of the great drama of the ages come together. I would not want to live in any other time. The Bible speaks powerfully of trouble ahead with storm warnings that carry a booming jolt of truth. Regardless of what society says, we cannot go on much longer in the sea of immorality without judgment coming. We are at a crossroads, and there are profound moral issues at stake. It is time to return to biblical truth. The warning is clear; prepare to meet thy God—followed by the voice of the gentle Shepherd—the Lord Jesus—saying, ‘Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest’ (Matthew 11:28 NKJV). A new world is coming. It is time for the people of the world to turn to God.

You’ve visited many presidents, and prayed with them in many different circumstances. Which U.S. president would you hold up as the best example for other Christians to emulate, in terms of their personal standards, moral conduct, and heart for God?

I have tried to be a pastor to each of the 12 U. S. presidents I have had the privilege of knowing personally, but I would never single one of them out. They are just ordinary people, most of whom are seeking to talk to somebody who won’t quote them; whom they can trust and have prayer with. They are searching for something to hold on to, something that can give them an anchor in the midst of this turbulent world or the latest political crisis they find themselves in. It is a lonely place to be in that level of leadership, and I have always encouraged people to pray for them, asking that they seek God’s wisdom and do His will.

Your ministry, and the faith that your children and grandchildren continue to champion today, have touched millions and millions of lives in a powerful way all across the globe. If you had one last message to share with them, one final word you would love for them to engrave on their hearts and never forget, what would you say?

This is exactly why I have written the book [The Reason for My Hope: Salvation] and why our ministry is launching ‘My Hope America’ television program this November. It could perhaps be my last message which is this — Christ is our hope for today and our promise for tomorrow — and it is fulfilled in the great work He did for mankind on the cross when He paid the penalty for our sin. He offers salvation to those who will ‘come’ to Him, believe in what He has done and what He has said, and obediently follow Him. I’ve never known anyone to come to Christ and ever regret it.

We’ve recently learned the federal government is tracking every letter mailed, every phone call made, every email sent. Is there a point at which a government can become so large and powerful that it inherently threatens basic human freedoms, such as the freedom of religion?

Americans have always fought for freedom. This is why America was founded — to worship the one true God openly with no fear of tyranny. Our early fathers led our nation according to Biblical principles. Hope and change has become a cliché in our nation and it is daunting to think that any American could hope for change from what God has blessed. Our country is turning away from what has made it so great, but far greater than the government knowing our every move that could lead to losing our freedom to worship God publicly is to know that God knows our every thought; He knows our hearts need transformation. The human heart can be changed only by the power of God. Hope is certain only through His Son Jesus Christ — not in the change agents of the world, and when the end of the world as we know it takes place at Christ’s return, no government can prevent it and no individual can escape it. Those who hope for it will welcome it; those who refuse to embrace its reality will never change its certainty.

James Woods on Obama: He’s the ‘gift from hell’

It’s a safe bet there’s no love lost between Hollywood actor James Woods and President Obama — the former has taken to Twitter several times over the last few months to trash the policies and politics of the latter.

The latest came this week, in response to a report from British press that revealed the National Security Agency commonly provides Israel with intelligence data — without first stripping out private and personal information on American citizens. The Guardian in London reported the item, the latest in its coverage of document leaks from Edward Snowden.

Mr. Woods unleashed his views of the matter — and of Mr. Obama’s role in allowing the practice to occur — on Twitter.

He wrote: “Report: Data on Americans shared with Israel … Obama: the gift from hell that keeps on giving.”

This is hardly the first unfavorable rating Mr. Woods has posted on his Twitter account about Mr. Obama. In July, the actor ranted over Mr. Obama’s insertion of his personal opinion into the George Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin trial, characterizing it as fueling racial tensions and wondering why the president would speak his mind about the death of the 17-year-old Trayvon but not worry so much about American’s soldiers and wounded warriors.

Do not remain silent! A dire warning to Silent Pastors from the distant past.

Do not remain silent: A dire warning to American Pastors from the distant past.

By Mario Murillo

Mordecai said to Esther, “for if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to the Kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14.

Businessman with Tape over Mouth

It is with a broken heart and deep reverence that I beg you my fellow ministers, do not remain silent about Obama and the Democratic Party.  I know that for me to remain silent will put blood on my hands and perhaps judgment in my future.  You may ask me how do you dare make such a claim?  That is when I will ask you, what more must Obama do before you admit that he is a grave threat to everything that we hold dear as men of God?

I beg you!  Quit hiding behind myth of separation of church and state!  You have the right, yea the duty to speak out now before it is too late.

Listen to Matt Barber vice president of Liberty Counsel Action, “In recent years there’s been an epidemic of cultural inaction exhibited by far too many ministers of the gospel. It’s fear-based. “Oh, I don’t talk about political issues,” they say. “You know, ‘separation of Church and State’ and all that.”

Baloney.

If this is you — and only you and our Lord knows for sure — you’ve been deceived by the enemies of God. You’ve chosen the easy way out — the path of least resistance. This is something Christ, whom all Christians are called to emulate, never did — not once.

So, respectfully, man-up, Padre! Be the “salt and light of the world,” as Christ so admonished.

Did you get that? Despite hundreds of thousands of threatening letters sent by hard-left groups like the ACLU and Barry Lynn’s Americans United, not a single church has lost tax exemption for socio-political activity — zip, zero, nada. Not even for endorsing candidates from the pulpit.”

Obama and the Democratic Party’s agenda cannot win without the Christian vote and I believe that  if Pastors remain silent, we are headed for another defeat in 2014!

Are they afraid of losing tithers?  I am trying to wrap my brain around the idea of  a man of God who would rather lose a nation than a tither.

Perhaps you have come to the Kingdom for such a time as this?  Maybe God gave you that pulpit for such a time as this?  What if you are here to speak up at the precise time that socialism is about to swallow of American exceptionalism?  We have to rise up in the name of God and stop  this plan for the dismantling of everything good and right about America.

Are you still hiding behind the excuse that we are to be “loving and not speak out ”?  What if Esther had hidden behind that excuse?  Does love keep silent?

Maybe you believe that we need a big government ruling our lives. Just remember, when they start to control healthcare they will come and control your church.   They will do it in the name of good.

Here’s what C.S. Lewis said about the nanny state:  “Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

Maybe you believe that the grievance insdustry fomented by Jesse  Jackson, Al Sharpton and the NAACP  is a part of the civil rights movement.  It is not, listen to Dr. King’s own words:

“There was a time when the church was very powerful in the time when the early Christians rejoiced at being deemed worthy to suffer for what they believed. In those days the church was not merely a thermometer that recorded the ideas and principles of popular opinion; it was a thermostat that transformed the mores of society. Whenever the early Christians entered a town, the people in power became disturbed and immediately sought to convict the Christians for being “disturbers of the peace” and outside agitators. But the Christians pressed on in the conviction that they were “a colony of heaven” called to obey God rather than man. Small in number they were big in commitment. They were too God-intoxicated to be “astronomically intimidated.” By their effort and example they brought an end to such ancient evils as infanticide.”

protesting evil

You can cave into pressure, remain silent and let this moment bring irreversible damage.  However, do not fool yourself.  I say this with tears of love and I am quaking with conviction.  I believe we are fairly warned!  The next time you pray for growth, miracles, blessing or finances, consider the broken heart of God who will remember your silence, and that silence, I believe, will be screaming at God a lot louder than your prayers.
