Fifty Shades of Grace

By Mario Murillo

“On April 7, 1933, anti-Semitism officially became German government policy when Jews were banned from civil service. This was known as the “Aryan Clause”. Six days before that, there was a boycott of Jewish merchants. The Aryan Clause directly affected the German church because non-Aryans were not only baptized members of the church, but some also held offices in the church. Thus, the door was wide open for discrimination and rejection even by fellow Christians.”

“Later that month, Bonhoeffer addressed a group of pastors with an essay entitled: “The Church and the Jewish Question.” In this essay, Bonhoeffer argued that the church had the right to question and rebuke the state. Further, the church must stand up for the rights of victims of injustice regardless of their religious background. Even further, Bonhoeffer advocated the possibility of jamming the spokes of the wheel of the state. In other words, the church in Germany must be open to the possibility of taking action on behalf of the Jewish people.”  – bonhoefferblog

By 1939 Hitler completed a long incremental takeover of Germany.  He kept asking for and getting power because the nation was enthralled and the church was apathetic.  “How could the Church in Germany sit back and allow this to happen?” that question was posed to Bonhoeffer by American Pastors at the time.  His answer was: “the teaching of cheap grace.”

Observe the following quotes:

Here is what Joseph Prince said about Grace:  “His grace is cheapened when you think that He has only forgiven you of your sins up to the time you got saved, and after that point, you have to depend on your confession of sins to be forgiven. God’s forgiveness is not given in installments.”

Now listen to Dietrich Bonhoeffer:Cheap grace is the grace we bestow on ourselves. Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, Communion without confession…Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate.”

There is no confusion in this debate:  Prince says that repenting of sins that you have committed after you are saved “cheapens grace.”  Bonhoeffer says that offering forgiveness without repentance is “cheap grace.”how

Who are you going to believe?   Will you believe Dietrich Bonhoeffer or Joseph Prince?   I am going to take the word of the man whose reality in God empowered him to stand up to Adolf Hitler.

I do not mean to scare you but history is repeating itself in eerie and vivid detail.   Once again a nation hates Jews…specifically it  hates Israel. Once again a government leader is taking power and expanding his control over the life of its citizens.  (Its latest takeover is the internet).

Once again, and this is a gigantic once again… the church is silent and coincidently, its most popular doctrine is grace.  Not everyone buys into Prince’s hyper-grace but there are 50 shades of grace that permeate millions of Christians.  These shades of grace have dulled our natural sense of duty and our capacity to feel outrage in precisely the same way that the German Church was lulled to sleep.

Let me put it another way: You know how you feel when Al Sharpton hustles the notion that we are “institutionally racist?”  You sit there listening to him and you know that no racist nation could have elected and reelected an African American president.   Sharpton has to keep narrative alive, it’s his cash cow.

I feel the same way when I hear our pulpits continually railing against “conditional love” and “performance Christianity” as if our churches overflowed with people repenting too much or overdoing holiness.  I believe that the cheap grace narrative is kept alive on life support for the money.

The American Church is not an overheating engine of dedication and sacrifice.  All too often, it is a listless, flabby, biblically illiterate, club of moody consumers that hold pastors hostage to entitlement sermons.

This is why when the Obama Anti-Christ fire drill arrived we failed miserably.  We are still failing.  I have no doubt that Obama himself shakes his head at what the church has allowed him to do.

Cheap grace will ultimately fail when it is needed most because it causes malnutrition.  David Wilkerson said “…Yet, tragically, many today still eat at the table of demons, serving their own lustful appetites, and then attempt to come to the Lord’s table and feast with the righteous. This leads only to spiritual sickness and death because these deceived ones do not discern the true Bread of God. These sickly sheep have become so spiritually weak and diseased by sin that they cannot eat strong meat. Instead, they prefer to nibble at the husks of ear-tickling teachings. They gravitate toward lightness and entertainment rather than the genuine Word. Their spiritual appetites have become dull as a result of eating too much junk food.”

The fact is that I love Grace, the real Grace of God: The Grace that buckles my knees with gratitude and makes me hate sin more than nuclear waste.   I yearn not for a shade of grace but the blazing sun of it!

How right was the author of Amazing Grace?   “Twas grace that taught my heart to fear.”   First Grace stuns us with what God did for us and yes we should feel a towering awe and fear of the mighty love of God.  Then the song writer says, “And grace my fear relieved.”  Relief comes from repentance, not from avoiding it!

Finally, the writer says, “how precious did that Grace appear, the hour I first believed.”  When you experience true Grace it becomes priceless to you.  You will want to give your all to host it.  You will flee wickedness with unbridled zeal.

Is there hope in all of this mess?  You better believe it!  It is this Amazing Grace that is about to call people to explosive effectiveness against evil.  There is a growing army of believers who are sick to death of the compromise and they are pressing into God.   The Lord of Lords by the Holy Spirit has issued the order to arm and anoint a new generation of preachers and believers against this horde of devils that is choking the life out of America.

Out of every quarter of America a signal is going out!  “Come out from among them and be separate.”  Jehovah is empowering yea, inflaming soldiers who will not break ranks and will see signs and wonders that even transcend what the Book of Acts Church experienced.  Get ready for the preachers who know God and create lethal disciples!  Men and women are emerging who will pay the price for true conversions, true miracles and true revival!

Is it politics or is it fear?

politics or fear

Is it politics or is it fear?

By Mario Murillo

What would you do if they expelled your young daughter from school for being a Christian?  What if it had nothing to do with bad behavior?  She was expelled for her beliefs…pure and simple.  What would you do?  You would storm down to the principal’s office and demand your rights.

You could also understand your neighbor doing the same thing if this happened to one of their children.  One thing you would not do is accuse your neighbor of being judgmental, political or “not walking in love.”

Many Christians think that speaking out against Obama, Eric Holder, the IRS, and the NSA is “different” than parents protecting their children against coercive schools.  Oh really?  How is it different?  The only thing I can see that is different is that it hasn’t hit home yet.  So far we have seen executives fired for defending traditional marriage; the IRS attacking Billy Graham; healthcare hijacked and all of our phone calls monitored.  If they do all of this today what will they do tomorrow?

You say, “If my child is banished for being Christian I would act!”  The problem is that by that time it is too late.  The local school is usually the final stop for tranny.  Before there can be a blatant attempt to ban Christianity at school a lot of other bad things must first take place, and they are.

The public must be reprogrammed to accept the loss of freedom. Tranny trickles down through several layers like acid eating its way down to the hull of a ship.

But Romans 13 tells Christians not to speak out against rulers right?   Verse 2 says,  “Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.”

The ruling authority of the United States is the Constitution, something the White House swore to uphold and protect. Instead, it has been this administration’s unswerving passion to undermine the first 4 amendments to the Constitution; setting aside everything from freedom of speech to the right to privacy.

In my opinion, they are the ones that Romans 13 says is resisting authority.  This administration has crossed a dangerous threshold!

There are tens of millions of Americans who would take it one step further and say that they even question the validity of the last election.

This is not the first time that Christian leaders have had to reach a painful point of opposition that was not popular.  In the 20th century Christian heroes opposed tyranny:

silence blog

Pastor Richard Wurmbrand stood alone among more than 1,000 leaders to denounce the control of Romanian communism.

Dietrich Bonheoffer was a German theologian famous for his stand against Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party. His beliefs and convictions ultimately cost him his life in a Nazi concentration camp.

Corrie Ten Boom violated German law by hiding Jews in her home.

Watchman Nee was persecuted and imprisoned for his faith by Chairman Mao and spent the last twenty years of his life in prison.

Billy Graham Ad

Each one of these heroes had that moment of denial that said, “This can’t be happening!” Each one came to that point of clarity in their conscience.  Each one said, “This is the right thing to do.”  Each one faced rejection for trying to convince others of impending coming tyranny.

It is ironic that each is honored as a hero but if they were alive today most Christians would reject open opposition to political leadership.

Today there is a greater danger because when Hitler, Mao and Stalin raised their evil empires there was a free America that could intervene.  Where will you or anyone else go for freedom if America itself is overtaken by tyranny?

For a growing number of Christian leaders and me it is time to speak out.  The silence we see today is not because of politics but because of fear.  It is time to quit hiding behind that excuse.

It is not my place to order any leader to speak out.   I can only tell you what I believe passionately; I believe that the leadership of the American Church should unite to stop this administration and hold them legally accountable for the damage they have done to our freedoms.

Tomorrow I want to talk to you why my stance is not going to hinder my ability to win youth to Christ and why it is not too late for effective action.

Messages to Hitler: You have done your worst now we will do our best!

INF3-67_Winston_Churchill

It is a forgotten but important part of history.  Winston Churchill would sent insults to Hitler.  Churchill understood that Adolf Hitler could not resist reading any message he got from Churchill.    One night after an especially terrible bombing on London, Churchill  sent this message to Hitler: “You have done your worst, now we will do our best.”   Mr. Churchill’s taunts were also widely known to the British people and it ignited a will to fight.

Beloved, we need to learn a secret from this legendary leader.   2012 was a year that Satan did his worst.  Now let’s make 2013 that year that God does His best through us!

Yes, Modern problems are now supernatural. To hold a family together today requires supernatural help.  To keep one’s sanity in the dizzying pace of today demands an emotional foundation that is superhuman.  Some will think that their problems are so deep that they have run off the map of the Bible.

Now for the defiant news: This can be the greatest year of your life.  Despite all the bad news and the threatening conditions you can do things this year that you never thought were possible. This is no hollow boast. My bold confession is based on a spiritual law!  When evil does its worst, God will do His best.  Let me demonstrate: When Pharaoh raged Moses appeared. When Goliath roared David came forth.  When the world seemed hopelessly locked in the grip of Nebuchadnezzar, Daniel leveled him with prophetic authority. Ruth and Boaz, the greatest love story of the Old Testament came in the darkness of the time of the Judges. Isaac obtained a hundredfold harvest in the midst of a grinding drought.  When the New Testament Church seemed doomed, their chief persecutor, Saul of Tarsus became Paul the Apostle.

God will make special grace, power and miracles available at this time.   Here is your promise: Isaiah 60:1-5, “Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. 2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. 3 The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising. 4 “ Lift up your eyes all around, and see: They all gather together, they come to you; Your sons shall come from afar, And your daughters shall be nursed at your side. 5 Then you shall see and become radiant, And your heart shall swell with joy; Because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you, The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you.”

The real threat is that you would be deceived into small plans when you are supposed to have big ones.  We always enlarge the threat of failure and diminish the damage of not trying.  Regret is the real cancer of life.  When you look back on your life, you hardly ever regret trying something that was seemingly impossible.  What brings us pain are those memories of lost opportunity and the gnawing feeling of what might have been if we had just tried one more time.

Heaven wants expression.  Our heart must not just mouth the words, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven,” our life must match it with plans that are born from prayer and we must act on those plans with fierce boldness!
