Political Correctness gets a double whammy.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

As a child of God, it is urgent that you do not allow lies to control your life. Knowledge is power.

Gun control and global warming would seem to be too entirely unspiritual subjects for an evangelist. These two issues are the entry-level drugs for hyper liberals to invade your privacy and to transfer wealth from one segment of the population to the other.  Through these lies policies can be created that seem to matter to environmentalists and citizens concerned with safety but lurking in the dark is an overreaching government using these lies to invade your privacy.

Today these two centerpieces of liberal legislation were hit with a double whammy: the chief of police from Detroit advocating gun ownership for safety and the undeniable cooling of the earth.  Read on  -Mario Murillo

Detroit Police Chief: Armed Citizens Deter Crime

Detroit Police Chief James Craig has an idea for fighting crime — arm more citizens.

“When we look at the good community members who have concealed weapons permits, the likelihood they’ll shoot is based on a lack of confidence in this police department,” said the chief at a press conference this week, The Detroit News reports.

The chief said he believes the financially crippled city’s residents are feeling safer and violent crime dropped seven percent in 2013. But Craig said that he’s changed his mind over the years over whether citizens should be armed.

He said that when he was on the Los Angeles police force for 28 years, California law made it difficult to get a concealed weapon permit. However, when he became police chief in Portland, Me., in 2009 he changed his mind.

“I got to Maine, where they give out lots of CCWs (carrying concealed weapon permits), and I had a stack of CCW permits I was denying; that was my orientation,” Craig said. “I changed my orientation real quick. Maine is one of the safest places in America. Clearly, suspects knew that good Americans were armed.”

Craig said on a radio show in mid-December that there are a number of people in Detroit with concealed pistol licenses (CPL), and he thinks it’s a deterrent to crime.

“Good Americans with CPLs translates into crime reduction,” said Craig. “I learned that real quick in the state of Maine.”

Craig’s stance is unusual for a police chief, but Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police Director Robert Stevenson said that there are many police officers who have no problem when law-abiding citizens have guns, but they usually try to stay out of those discussions.

Craig’s opinion, though, does not stretch to assault weapons, which he has said should be banned. He’s also called for tight restrictions for online ammunition sales, to regulate high-capacity magazines, and for background checks for gun sales.

There were 15 justifiable homicides in Detroit in 2013, down from 25 in 2012, the Detroit News reports. In most of those cases, citizens were defending themselves by killing criminals.

Historic freeze could break Midwest temp records

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – It has been decades since parts of the Midwest experienced a deep freeze like the one expected to arrive Sunday, with potential record-low temperatures heightening fears of frostbite and hypothermia even in a region where residents are accustomed to bundling up.

This “polar vortex,” as one meteorologist calls it, is caused by a counterclockwise-rotating pool of cold, dense air. The frigid air, piled up at the North Pole, will be pushed down to the U.S., funneling it as far south as the Gulf Coast.

Ryan Maue, of Tallahassee, Fla., a meteorologist for Weather Bell, said temperature records will likely be broken during the short yet forceful deep freeze that will begin in many places on Sunday and extend into early next week. That’s thanks to a perfect combination of the jet stream, cold surface temperatures and the polar vortex.

“All the ingredients are there for a near-record or historic cold outbreak,” he said “If you’re under 40 (years old), you’ve not seen this stuff before.”

The temperature predictions are startling: 25 below zero in Fargo, N.D., minus 31 in International Falls, Minn., and 15 below in Indianapolis and Chicago. At those temperatures, exposed skin can get frostbitten in minutes and hypothermia can quickly set in because wind chills could hit 50, 60 or even 70 below zero.

Sunday’s playoff game in Green Bay could be among one of the coldest NFL games ever played. Temperatures at Lambeau Field are expected to be a frigid minus 2 degrees when the Packers and San Francisco 49ers kickoff, and by the fourth quarter it’ll be a bone-chilling minus 7, with wind chills approaching minus 30, according to the National Weather Service. Officials are warning fans to take extra safety measures to stay warm including dressing in layers and sipping warm drinks.

Minnesota called off school for Monday statewide, the first such closing in 17 years, because of projected highs in the minus teens and lows as cold as 30 below. Milwaukee and Madison, Wis., students also won’t be in class Monday. North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple urged superintendents to keep children’s safety in making the decision after the state forecast called for “life threatening wind chills” through Tuesday morning.

And though this cold spell will last just a few days as warmer air comes behind, it likely will freeze over the Great Lakes and other bodies of water, meaning frigid temperatures will likely last the rest of winter, Maue said.

“It raises the chances for future cold,” he said, adding it could include next month’s Super Bowl in New Jersey.
The cold blast will sweep through parts of New England, where residents will have just dug out from a snowstorm and the frigid temperatures that followed. Parts of the central Midwest could also see up to a foot of snow just as the cold sweeps in pulling temperatures to 10 below zero in the St. Louis area.Snow already on the ground and fresh powder expected in some places ahead of the cold air will reduce the sun’s heating effect, so nighttime lows will plummet thanks to strong northwest winds that will deliver the Arctic blast, Maue said. And there’s no warming effect from the Gulf to counteract the cold air, he said.

Even places accustomed to normally mild to warmer winters will see a plunge in temperatures early next week, including Atlanta where the high is expected to hover in the mid-20s on Tuesday.

“This one happens to be really big and it’s going to dive deep into the continental U.S. And all that cold air is going to come with it,” said Sally Johnson, meteorologist in charge at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls.

It’s relatively uncommon to have such frigid air blanket so much of the U.S., maybe once a decade or every couple of decades, Maue said. But in the long-run the deep temperature dives are less meaningful for comparison to other storms than daytime highs that are below-zero and long cold spells, he said.
“Right now for the winter we will have had two significant shots of major Arctic air and we’re only through the first week of January. And we had a pretty cold December,” Maue said. And so far, this winter is proving to be a cold one.

Rep. Darrell Issa issues Benghazi subpoenas to State Department.

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

The House Republican chairman investigating last year’s terror attack on a U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, has subpoenaed four State Department officials, saying the department was stalling on efforts to interview them.

In a statement Monday, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa of California said the four led offices where the State Department’s report into the attack, called anAccountability Review Board, had found that deficiencies contributed to a lack of security.

The board found that State Department leaders in Washington allowed the temporary facility in Benghazi to be occupied even though it did not meet security standards and then ignored pleas for additional security from diplomats on the ground.

The Board’s report identified four mid-level officials as failing to show leadership in the run up to the attacks.

Republicans have claimed that the report let senior officials, including then-Secretary of State Hilary R. Clinton, off the hook.

In a letter about the subpoenas to Secretary of State John F. Kerryreleased Monday, Mr. Issa detailed his efforts since April 29 to arrange interviews with the four officials and others, stating his investigators “have only been able to interview one of the 13 individuals with whom they requested interviews and the meeting was arranged without theState Department’s help.”

“These persistent delays create the appearance that the Department is dragging its feet to slow down the Committee’s investigation,” Mr. Issa wrote. “It does not require weeks of preparation to answer questions truthfully.”

He called the delay “irresponsible.”

Mr. Issa stated that the committee wants to hold a public hearing to examine the findings of the Accountability Review Board “as soon as possible.”

After issuing subpoenas last month, investigators arranged voluntary interviews with the co-chairs of the board — retired career diplomat Ambassador Thomas Pickering and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff, retired Adm. Michael Mullen.

Writing about Monday’s subpoenas, Mr. Issa said they were not the fault of the witnesses he was serving.

“By its very nature,” Mr. Issa wrote, “a subpoena can carry the implication that the witness is being uncooperative. In this case, that is an unfortunate and misleading consequence since it is the department, and not the individuals themselves, that appears to be dictating the timetable.”

The four officials, according to Mr. Issa, are Eric Boswell, who was assistant secretary at the Bureau of Diplomatic Security; Scott Bultrowicz, former principal deputy assistant secretary in that bureau and director of the Diplomatic Security Service; Elizabeth Dibble, former principal deputy assistant secretary, at the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs; and her boss, Elizabeth Jones, the bureau’s acting assistant secretary.

The State Department had no immedtiate comment.

Mario’s note:  Benghazi is back in the news!  It needs to be.   From top to bottom, it is a scandal that far outdistances the others that are connected to the White House.  Benghazi speaks to the arrogance, incompetence and indifference that endanger our freedom and the future of our nation.  Every believer, regardless of race has a vested interest in Benghazi.

If you are praying for the American Constitution to be reinforced, if you want the machinery of socialism to be stopped then the Benghazi investigation is very strategic.  Getting to the truth of what happened and why is the key to undoing the great deception.
