Will the Holy Spirit fall on thousands of churches this Pentecost Sunday?

It won’t surprise me if the Holy Spirit falls in a powerful way on many churches this Pentecost Sunday. I can’t shake the feeling that some shockingly supernatural manifestation will come upon those brave churches who know it is the right time to open their doors. It would not surprise me if glorious worship turns into an outbreak of miracles and revival.

Why do I suspect this? It’s because of many eerie similarities between this coming Day of Pentecost, May 31st, and the Day of Pentecost that birthed the church.

1. They were all in one accord in one place. The first similarity is unity. True, our unity looks a lot different than theirs. They were with one accord in one place. We, because of the lockdown, are in one accord in many places.

The church in America has been pushed into a corner. Long before the pandemic gave leftist leaders an excuse to persecute Christian churches, they were spoiling for a fight. The attack on our faith has recently caused some high-level Christian leaders to abandon their walk with the Lord and betray Christ.

Others have gone the opposite way, and have pressed deeper into God.  Across social media, you can hear similar confessions and declarations that show ministers are dropping side issues and are sincerely crying out for revival.  You can hear their messages quoting similar verses and their messages sharing a common bond of urgency—to see America repent. And not just ministers.

These are pastors, and regular Christians who are praying to go deeper. They are busy saying to each other, “the sideshow is not God, there’s more! No way can Satan win if we take our stand on the authority of the Cross!”

Preachers who had significant theological differences have seen the light and are reaching out to leaders they might have shunned before. Many preachers have come to repentance. They realize now that fluff and distraction had pulled them away from their first love.

Of course, not everyone has repented, and there are many foolish and disheartening heresies flooding the internet. Nevertheless, a rare and righteous core is coming into unity.

Persecution has distilled us to our current level of unity. But this dwindling of our numbers will take us to the next striking similarity.

2. The 120 in the upper room were under their own lockdown, and they risked it all by going public.  Jesus had been given a mock trial and then executed by the government. Now His followers were fair game for bloodthirsty mobs and corrupt leaders, energized by demons.

Note: Jesus “appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time.” But by the day of Pentecost, only a remnant of 120 were still praying and waiting in Jerusalem for power from on high.

Some broke off from seeking the Holy Spirit because of fatigue and others because of fear. But those who endured fatigue and soldiered on, were rewarded with inexpressive glory on that Day of Days.

That is another similarity because not all churches are going to open their doors May 31st. Some for honest reasons that we dare not judge, and some out of unbelief and fear. A number of churches will be opening their doors for the wrong reason—because they want to strike with the fist at politicians, or they simply miss the tithes. However, these things will not stop the Holy Spirit.

Here’s a glorious fact to take away from that first outpouring on the Day of Pentecost: Less than one third of their number were praying. Less than one third obeyed and waited, but that was enough to receive the great promise.

There are many lukewarm Christians who have been paralyzed by the lies of the corrupt media. There are misguided preachers who don’t want to lose the approval of secular society. But the good news is that they can’t stop an outpouring of the Holy Spirit from falling on Pentecost Sunday.

3. They had to wait for the day to fully come, because of what the feast of Pentecost meant. Many in the prophetic core are saying we don’t have to wait for May 31st to open. Why should we wait? They are correct, we don’t have to wait, and some churches have not waited.

But, 2,000 years ago, God made the disciples wait. I am sure they were worthy of an outpouring long before it happened. But God had sovereignly chosen a particular day. Pentecost was a perfect day for the Holy Spirit to come. Here’s why: Pentecost was also known as the feast of First-Fruits. Farmers in Israel would diligently watch their fields and, as soon as they saw fruit beginning to ripen, they would tie a reed around the first-fruit, in order to distinguish it.  Then at Pentecost, they gathered those first-fruits and presented them to the Lord in the Temple.

Jesus was the first-fruit. He predicted His death and the harvest that would follow:

“But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain” (John 12:23,24).

Within days of making that statement, our Lord would be crucified and die on the Cross.  Fifty days later, the birth of the Church would be the first-fruits of Jesus’ ministry!  Jesus was the grain that “fell into the ground and died” and in doing so, seven weeks later, He did produce much grain.  In Jerusalem, the priests and rabbis, and all Jerusalem, saw the first-fruit offering which Our Lord presented in the Temple.  That offering was the Church, empowered by the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, healing the sick, and casting out demons.  That first-fruit offering was over 3,000 souls! (Acts 2:41)

Sure. We could open churches earlier, but there’s something about that particular day. And there is a growing expectation among many Christian men and women who have prayed that this coming Sunday, May 31st—despite all the darkness and evil—could yet be the spark that leads to a great harvest!

PETER ON THE DAY JESUS DIED

First, he screamed and he kept screaming until he could scream no more. Then he fell off a cliff into the abyss of broken souls. He crashed with a force that could have moved the earth. Around him lay fragments—the new and hideous replacements of his former self. Shame replaced love. Cowardice replaced faith. Hope was driven out to make room for the mocking predator. Worst of all was the deep despair he felt as he saw his destiny plunge into a black hole of regret.

This all happened the day after Jesus died.

To survive, Peter virtually became a robot. He reverted to fishing. It’s what he was programmed to do. It’s what he knew best. He went through the motions to avoid every feeling, suppressing every emotion.

The difference between Peter and Judas Iscariot is razor thin. The fever of despair and regret raged in Peter every bit as hot as it had in Judas. It drove Judas to suicide. Why not Peter? Why didn’t he do what the other traitor did? It was because Jesus had prayed for him.

Satan told Peter a lie. Peter not only believed that lie, he now embodied it. And, it is the same lie that Satan is telling America right now—the lie that all the important things are gone forever.

Whenever those who hate God and America try to enforce a change, they call it ‘THE NEW NORMAL.’ They sold us on ‘THE NEW NORMAL’ of abortion, same sex marriage, and godless education. Their latest excuse for seizing control is the coronavirus. Something to remember: ‘the new normal’ is always nothing other than the old abnormal.

Peter was tortured by memories. Though he tried to fight it with all his might, it was impossible not to relive those days. Two mistakes haunted him the most. Thinking he could save Jesus, he had taken a sword and had swung it at the head of the high priest’s servant, Malchus, who, fortunately had moved just in time, losing only an ear. But his greatest horror was his discovery that he was a coward, and that he had denied Jesus three times. The rooster was still crowing in his spirit.

The hardest thing for Peter to forget was the day he met Jesus. Peter had been minding his own business when Jesus interrupted his entire life.  After fishing all night, Peter had caught nothing.   His hands were red and sore from handling the heavy nets.  Every muscle ached. He had nothing to show for a brutal night out on the water.

Then the strange Teacher said, “Let your nets down again for a catch.”  Peter half-heartedly did as he was asked, and the catch was so enormous that it terrified him.  He begged Jesus to keep His distance, “I am a sinful man!” Peter cried.

That’s when he heard the words about his destiny.  “Follow Me and I will make you a fisher of men.”

There is no doubt that Peter was convinced that now, after his failure and denial, it was too late. That fact must be clearly understood or you will not get the impact of the lesson I am about to relate.

It’s dawn on Resurrection Sunday.  Peter couldn’t know that at that very moment, an angel was talking about him.  Mark 16:7, “But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that (Jesus) is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He told to you.”  The angel added the words “and Peter.”  Why?  Because God knew Peter would have disqualified himself if the invitation was “for disciples only.”

Peter grabbed the messenger who related this to him and demanded: “Are you certain the angel said my name?!” “Yes, the words were, “Tell the disciples, and Peter.”” At that moment, Peter came back from the dead. He knew he was not rejected. He knew the unmatched glory of a true second chance.

Satan had worked hard to prevent Peter’s apostleship, because he knew this man would shake the gates of hell.  The first shaking came on the Day of Pentecost. The wind and fire of the Holy Spirit’s baptism transformed Peter

The coward, who had denied his Lord three times, was lovingly restored by the resurrected Jesus. He appeared to Peter, giving him three new chances to affirm his love. Jesus even provided a charcoal fire similar to the one near which Peter had experienced failure. Peter was completely transformed. He was now a lion carrying a devastating witness. He roared, “This is that which was spoken by the Prophet Joel!”

In the days after Jesus died, evil exerted a crushing blow on the entire city. All the Christians hid in their homes behind locked doors, and it’s like that today. Satan wishes to crush our hopes and dreams. Evil men would sell us the lie that we must adapt to a grim, cold, and dark lesser vision of America, the church, and our futures.

Those who are marked by God are unstoppable. When the doors reopen for America, God will fully restore our destiny.

But there is one miracle that remains to be explored. Cutting off Malchus’ ear haunted Peter. But there was more to it than just healing an ear. Because, my friend, that night Jesus healed more than an ear—knowing the future, Jesus knew Peter must not be sitting on death row on the day of Pentecost. Jesus prayed “permit even this” and reattached the ear, in order to protect Peter’s destiny.

Right now, He is also guarding yours. This pandemic, cannot stop God’s destiny for your life.

It is Time for Supernatural Living.

Promo shot of Mario and MechelleIt is Time for Supernatural Living.

It is Sunday December 9, 2012.  You woke up to an America very different than the one you knew a few weeks ago.  According to experts, America veered left on November 6th.   These “experts” are throwing the word majority around a lot right now.

A majority want gay marriage.  A majority want legalized drugs.  A majority want God out of our public discourse.  A majority want Christians to sit down and shut up.   Do you believe that this is true?  Did we wake up to a whole new America?

Here is what National Public Radio said:

“One of the major new voting blocs is the “nones” — that’s the Pew Research Center’s shorthand for the growing number of American voters who don’t have a specific religious affiliation. Some are agnostic, some atheist, but more than half define themselves as either “religious” or “spiritual but not religious,” Pew found in a recent survey.

They are typically younger, more socially liberal than their forebears, vote Democratic, and now make up nearly 20 percent of the country’s population. Exit polls suggest that 12 percent of voters on Election Day were counted as “religiously unaffiliated.” –National Public Radio.   Obama, they say won the anti-God vote and that is the prevailing mood right now.

Is this what happened?  Did America change that fast from One Nation Under God to Secular Progressive?  Forgive my skepticism.  I am skeptical because many of the sources reporting this leftist transformation are also the ones who crusaded for these changes. And as I said in an earlier blog, there were many things about election night that did not pass the smell test.

Laugh at me if you want but the real force behind all of this is “OUR ANCIENT FOE” as Martin Luther called him.  Satan hates American Exceptionalism because of its unmatched record of sending the Gospel to the world and for protecting Israel.  Satan’s agenda for the world requires the removal of the American firewall.

No matter how you wish to spin it, the “New America” under Obama will not preach the Gospel to the World the way she once did and she is stepping away from Israel. For Lucifer it is Mission accomplished.

What the giddy liberal youth do not get is that by voting against the things that made our nation great bankruptcy is inevitable.  They literally voted against their own future.

The point is that we have suffered far more than a political loss, we have suffered a supernatural attack.  I am deriving a strange hope from the ashes of that fact.  Since it was a supernatural attack, it will mean that God must bring us a supernatural counter attack.

redondo

Hear me when I say this:  There are millions of Christians praying for revival.  God will hear them.  The flash mob choir that invaded the Galleria in Redondo Beach (see video in prior post) showed me something.  Hearts that have no clue about God can be tenderized in an instant.  That is how the Church was born!  With flaming tongues and laser guided preaching on the day of Pentecost an totally nonchristian crowd was swept into the Kingdom.

Remember this, there are too many wells of revival embedded in the soil of America.  They hold the potential to burst at any moment and swing the mood of the nation back to Jesus.  I do not believe that God has even begun to fight for the soul of our nation and He has some breathtaking surprises for the enemies of Christ.

All of this leads me to this urgent conclusion:  It is time for supernatural living.  You are paying bills, perhaps raising young children, you are not that interested in the political situation because you face daily challenges much closer to home.  Maybe all of the Obama talk had done nothing but discourage and exhaust you.  Then listen and take heart.  There are key steps for you to take today that will change your life.

Galatians 2:20 is the doorway to supernatural living.  “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

1. I do not live anymore.  How many movies have we seen where someone dies and gets to come back as a ghost?  That is you and me.  We are not so much inhabiting the world as we are haunting it!  Dead people do not get offended or afraid.  The dearly departed now how the story ends.  We win!

2. Christ lives in me.  One big reason addicts get delivered so fast when they are filled with the Holy Ghost is the revelation that Jesus lives within them.  Jesus cannot be addicted to alcohol or heroin.  Your current life can be lived by Christ.  He can become your reaction to stress, depression and fear. It is Jesus facing the onslaught of atheism, recession and world crisis in me and through me!

3. I now live by someone else’s faith: Paul is telling us to stop living by our own power to believe and start living by Jesus’ power to believe.  Someone else rises within me to believe for my healing, my finances and my breakthrough!

4. I am controlled by someone who loves me and gave Himself for me.  The One who loves you the most is also the one who has the greatest power in the universe! Selah.  Karl Barth the German theologian was once asked, “what is the greatest truth you have ever discovered.  His answer was, “Jesus loves me this I know.”  Incredulously the interviewer said, “you mean the fact that Jesus loves you is the greatest truth?” “No,” he replied… “THIS I KNOW!”

The One who loves you the most is also the one who has the greatest power in the universe. Selah.   Romans 8:35-39:  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The temporary sick joke of American politics is no match for the soon coming gifts of power, strategies of prosperity and warfare of the Holy Ghost.  Get busy being supernatural!

If I had the ear of this entire generation for 15 Minutes. Get out while you can.

If I had the ear of this entire generation for 15 Minutes.

The day of Pentecost 34 A.D.

Men and women from all over the world are crowded into Jerusalem.  Suddenly 120 people pour out of an upper room with supernatural flames appearing over their heads and speaking in the local dialects of the thousands of foreigners visiting the city.

Whatever your view of the origin of the Church of Jesus here is the real story.  It was not born in a musty guilt-ridden gathering.  It is not the product of weak minds or social escapists.  On this day it became clear that a truth would impose its reality on all cultures and all levels of society. It was born in plain sight of one of the most multicultural events of all time.

Skeptics can dredge up whatever failure of man done in the name of Jesus but it does not touch the power of the real source of the Gospel.

When it became obvious that a miracle has happened, Peter, the spokesman for the 120 begins to explain that this is the fulfillment of a prophecy that was given 753 years before.   Joel 2:28 says, “I will pour out of my Spirit on all flesh.”

He says in essence, “Our ability to speak your language is further proof of what has happened here in the last 4 years.  Proof by healing miracles, proof by fulfilling over 200 direct predictions of the messiah and proof by the resurrection from the dead!”

They saw the flames over their heads, they heard them speak in such detailed accuracy and even accent of obscure tongues from their remote villages. But some still mocked and said that they were drunk.  Some people will mock in the face of absolute proof but  mocking Jesus does nothing to disprove Him.

Peter finishes with a heart-felt warning.      He finishes with a warning.  Acts 2: 40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”  The Message Bible says it this way, “He went on in this vein for a long time, urging them over and over, “Get out while you can; get out of this sick and stupid culture!”

In 37 more years Jerusalem would be totally destroyed.  It was one of Jesus’ final predictions fulfilled in painful detail.   I want you to get out of disaster:  Every current crisis of the world is laid out in the Bible.  Every cast member on the stage and plainly seen.

You may not have much in common with any Christians that you have met.  But what you do have in common is problems and the need for love.  You see the protests of the Occupy Movement and the extremes of many today.  They are not just seeking justice on a natural plane but they are feeling the convulsions of their soul.  They sense that our way of life is far more unnatural that we think.

Just because it is simple does not mean it is not absolutely true!  Victory over any adversity may be found by living for Jesus Christ. Whatever you are going through, there is hope in Jesus.

God is real. Jesus is alive! He loves you and is concerned for your well-being. He is the absolute Reality on which all truth is ultimately grounded. His message for you and your world is contained in the collection of 66 books called The Bible. Its transcendent teachings have stood the test of time, the scrutiny of scholars and the furnace of practical experience. They speak not only about history but how to live today in every level and facet of life.

You must make a deliberate and conscious decision to surrender your life to Christ as your Lord and Savior.

What you must do:

Get real: You must face for the first time the truth about your wrong. To do this you must be utterly real. Many plead with God to prove He is real.  The cure is in doing the very opposite: prove that you are real to God.  God will not do business with people who do not mean business with Him. “He that covers his sins shall not prosper; but whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.” (Prov.28:13)

Repentance: “I confess that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself from sin.” True repentance means turning completely from your selfishness, with the determination to sin no more.

Faith: “I believe that God is real, and that Jesus Christ is His son. I freely confess He died on the cross for the penalty I deserved. I believe that I can receive both His forgiveness and a new life through the power of His Spirit living within me.” This act of faith is neither an idea or a feeling but an intelligent and deliberate act of the will. Give Him your doubts, your weakness and your loneliness. Your heart will never have peace, your doubts will never clear up, you will never get relief from the cruelty of this world until you trust, surrender, believe from your heart!

It is your turn to experience the power, proof and love of God that has given humanity for over 2,000 years.
