DO NOT THROW TOMORROW AWAY

Can you recall any of the superficial sermons that were preached by celebrity preachers just a few weeks ago? If so, you must realize that preaching that stuff now would come off as banal and inappropriate enough to cause you to cringe. Back then, under the influence of that type of preaching, many believed life was just a bowl of cherries, and their toughest test was wondering how long it would take God to refill the bowl. Now they are believing for toilet paper.

Those warm and fuzzy sermonettes became useless for life during a pandemic.

Many are jobless. Many have loved ones who are sick. Their children are home from school and falling behind. The eateries, stores, and coffee shops they took for granted are now either closed or will only hand you stuff through the door. And the churches they used to attend are worshiping online.

They stare out the window at a strange new world with no idea how bad it’s going to get, and if or when things will return to normal.  Coronavirus has destroyed their theological innocence.

Many are not only done with those motivational pep talks, they have thrown the baby out with the bath water. They are turning away from their faith and trust in a loving God.

The other extreme this outbreak has led to is the number of believers who now hate the faith-prosperity message. They hate it so much that they are rooting for this virus to cause that message to become extinct. And they are every bit as dangerous as the New Age celebrity pastors.

The Holy Spirit has given me a warning to pass on to every child of God. You had a dream. You had a vision. You were just about to start college, start a business, get married, start a family, write a book, build a building, get a patent on a new invention, or launch out in vibrant ministry for Christ. Then the world seemed to come to an end.

The Bible, and your God-given vision and dream are not beholden to human circumstances. The Book that contains the accounts of people who stopped plagues, raised the dead, and blinded armies isn’t going to cut you any slack. DO NOT THROW TOMORROW AWAY.

Now, the present reality is screaming at you that none of those dreams will ever come true. They say you must downgrade your hopes and dreams to a “new normal.” You must adapt to a shadow existence. That is a lethal lie from the pit of hell! I want this blog to be the electrode paddles that will kick-start your visionary heart once again.

GOD IS COMMANDING YOU—DO NOT THROW TOMORROW AWAY!

Do you honestly think that God didn’t know this was coming when He gave you that vision, idea, commission, or calling?  God didn’t just sit down and say, “Oh well, My child, I guess I won’t be able to do what I called you to do. I never factored in this virus thing.”

Furthermore, just because some have abused the truths of Faith and Provision, that does not change the truth about Faith and Provision. Romans 3:3 asks a burning question, “What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God?”

Giving up on faith because of the virus is like losing faith in your gun because a burglar got in your house. This crisis doesn’t mean our faith doesn’t work—this is what our faith is for!

Kenneth Hagin did not get his revelation of the faith message during an economic boom. He got it in the depths of the Great Depression. Hagin saw faith intervene in a time of grinding poverty.

Alexander Dowie didn’t launch his healing ministry when divine healing was all the rage. He did it after the bubonic plague killed 40 members of his church. After he launched his healing ministry, no one else died in his church, and an international ministry was born.

I remember when circumstances and outward appearances caused a great evangelist I knew to back off from an important part of his message. Over dinner he told me, “Mario, the poverty was so great in the Philippines that I couldn’t preach prosperity.” I corrected him by asking, “Would you also not preach healing because they were too sick?”

Don’t you dare throw tomorrow away! Joshua 3:5 is your verse: “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will work wonders among you.”

What does ‘sanctify’ mean? It means clean up your act! This is not a time to be stunned by events. It’s time to train, prepare, pray, study and write the vision plainly so you can run with it. Fan the fading embers back into a roaring flame.

This crisis will go away. What will never go away is the regret of what you might have done for God if you hadn’t thrown it away. DO NOT THROW AWAY TOMORROW!

THE THREE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS

Pray with intense focus: Pray, knowing that God is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. But what should we be seeking in prayer today? There are 3 things that have been burning in my heart to ask for. Here they are in the order in which I believe we need to pray for them.

1. The local church. Why would I mention this first? This current hysteria threatens to hit the local church hard. That is not good on more levels than you may realize. Satan wants to weaken churches in America for several important reasons.

Pray against the temptation to develop the habit of staying home from church after this is over.

Pray that believers will continue to financially support their church now, even if they are compelled to stay home.

Pray that state governments will not use this as an excuse to persecute the church.  Few things are more dangerous right now than the state drifting from justifiable health guidelines into police brutality. Only a fool doesn’t know about the growing outright hostility toward Christians in the Blue states. Their mouths are watering at the prospect of shutting down churches. They are looking for any excuse, and we must rebuke all demonic power and ask God to cause the fire of revival to fall on churches everywhere. The disruption of churches in America is from Satan. Pure and simple.

Worshiping together is a key to Christianity. Matthew 18:19-20, “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Remember: We are the only movement in history where the founder attends every meeting.

If there is a chance for you to worship with others and you opt instead for worshiping alone or as the hippies among us love to say, “I will commune with nature.” You may find some blessing, but you will not receive the full measure that the power of agreement provides.

Hebrews 10: 25 urges us: “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day (of the Lord) approaching.” House meetings are being touted as a substitute for corporate worship. And this not a problem if the motives are pure. Often, however, these meetings are led by leaders who are engaging in self-promotion. They are doing it because they did not get the recognition they felt they deserved in a church setting.  This is a lot like socialism: it sounds good, but it has never worked because the true motives are wrong.

I believe that something good can come out of this. Maybe we will remember the joy and satisfaction of simple church…before we got all slick and professional.

We must also pray fervently for the persecuted church around the world.

2. That America will repent. Americans who pray today had better repent. Every mouth that prays today must begin by asking for forgiveness. Any kind of asking that comes before repentance will offend God’s holiness. We are a nation of great wickedness. We have thumbed our nose at God. We have murdered the innocents and destroyed marriage. We celebrate things that God abhors.

Daniel was not guilty of the sins of Israel and yet he repented for them. In Daniel 9:4-5, he wrote, “And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession, and said, “O Lord, great and awesome God, Who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments,  we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments.”

The one thing we do not want to see is this: 2 Chronicles 28:22, “Now in the time of his distress King Ahaz became increasingly unfaithful to the Lord.”  If America smugly assumes she can ask and stay unfaithful to the Lord—or worse, become even more unfaithful—that would spell certain doom.

3. Pray that God will show mercy and curse this virus. Do not ask with pride, spouting your, “rights and privileges.” Humbly declare, “We are not deserving of a national miracle, but we humbly beg for Your mercy.” In this prayer, we must remember that all the nations of the world far less able to fight this pandemic.

I am a firm believer in miracles of healing and in the power of God to drive back disease. But I have never seen miracles break out when the voices calling upon God were charged with pride and entitlement.

Our Father and our God, have mercy on us this day as we turn from our wicked ways. We do not ask for comfort and ease, we ask for holy desires and the resolve to fight on in order to share the Gospel with the world. We forsake all those things that have become our idols. We condemn perverse and unnatural desires that have aroused Your anger against us. We pray in the name that is above all names—the Name of Jesus!

WHAT I AM GOING TO DO NOW

No one who knows me well, has asked that question. They know better than that. They know what I am going to do. I’ve even had friends call from great distances and say, “I know what you’re going to do!” More on that in a moment. I want to get to something else.

What happened in Chico was Satan. Paul wrote, “Therefore we wanted to come to you—even I, Paul, time and again—but Satan hindered us.” (1 Thessalonians 2:18)

When people make up rules on the spot, you know that is Satan. When you are told you can’t have a gathering, but there is a car race going on in the background, that is Satan. When not a single case of Coronavirus is recorded within 200 miles, and you are accused of being irresponsible, that is Satan. When lukewarm churches oppose soul winning and miracles, then you know it is Satan.

The good people of Chico were robbed—not by a virus but by hate and fear. They were robbed by leftists prematurely spreading a panic. In my opinion, they were targeting Christians. Even now, Casinos are still open, while at the same time, churches are ordered to close.  As if Casinos have some magical protection that churches don’t.

Satan wants to stop all of our crusades. Satan knew the momentum that would be generated by this crusade. Here is what really bites: Not one person would have gotten sick from the virus, but a lot of people would have been healed of serious diseases. I believe that cancers would have been healed, along with many other truly life threatening sicknesses.

But more importantly, the worst sickness of all would have been healed—sin sick souls! I just got off the phone with one of our board members. He was telling me how a friend he has been inviting to church for many years, but who would never go, had agreed to come to the Tent in Chico. Only God knows how many other souls would have come.

I had to calm down a fire-breathing army of soul winners who were all set to return to Chico today and hit the streets. At this point, they would have been unduly endangered, trying to pray for people. They would also be in direct defiance of the government’s orders. No, the devil may have won this battle.  BUT NEVER AGAIN!

Do you still want to ask what I am going to do now?   We were born in the fire of student riots. We waded through tear gas and protesters.  During the A.I.D.S. epidemic we never backed down. Ten more epidemics have come and gone since then. What are we going to do?

We will not relent. We will reload. As soon as the ban lifts we will win more souls than ever. We are going to expand our outreach to the Highway 99 Corridor. Every aspect of our outreach will intensify.

I know the Coronavirus is a real crisis. I agree that getting America to lay low will help blunt the epidemic. I am not in disagreement with the call to limit this virus. I do not oppose the safeguards that are recommended now by health professionals.

Here’s what I do oppose. I oppose the Left which is creating a parallel crisis of fear and panic. They seek to divide and blame and inflame mindless passions. But, what else is new?

My other issue is this: closing down churches while leaving other places where people gather wide open does not look like an effort to stop a virus. It looks like an effort to stop the church. And what will California do after this virus passes? Will they let up on the church or have they created a pretext to stop the church any time and for any reason they want?

I remember how, during a major drought, they raised the price of water with a solemn promise that when the drought ended prices would return to normal. Instead, right when the drought subsided they invented one of the most insidious surcharges I’ve ever heard of. It’s called an elevation charge. They charge people for how high the water had to flow to get to them—even when there was zero evidence that it cost them anything extra to deliver the water.

This is an hour when discernment is crucial. The church must abide by rules that protect the public and help stop the pandemic. But the church must also be aware when being shut down is not happening because of a virus, rather, it is happening because the Left wants to shut down churches and stop the Gospel.

But they will fail.

“So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. The Redeemer will come to Zion, and to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” says the Lord. (Is. 59:19-20)

The CaliforniaVirus

A caravan of trucks is making its way toward Chico, California. They are carrying everything needed for a full blown Tent crusade. Vessels of God from many parts of America and other nations are on a pilgrimage to Chico. This holy core of workers say Jesus told them to join Him on the frontlines of a hurting city. They took the flights others told them not to take. They told their bosses that winning the lost and healing the sick takes priority.

A friend is someone who walks in, when everyone else walks out. This holy core of workers is the best friend this or any city could ever have. We would never tell the police to skip their duty because of a virus. We would never tell a nurse or doctor to hide at home. We would never tell any first responder to take the day off because they might encounter risk. How can we say any less to a soldier of the Cross? How can we overrule them? If they say they have a mandate from God, who are you, or who am I, to tell them differently? All I ever say is, “Make sure it’s God, then act on it!”

That doesn’t mean we do not take the Coronavirus seriously, we do! We will not act recklessly, or break any law.  We are in compliance with state guidelines, and we will obey any civil authority when it comes to this crusade. However, we see another virus that is just as deadly.

The virus we are fighting in Chico and all along the Highway 99 corridor, is the CaliforniaVirus. It is deadly. Morally bankrupt intellectualism is why millions writhe in meaningless lives in this State. Meanwhile, their leaders in Sacramento heap more misery on them and then force them to pay for it. The grand experiment of California values has created America’s greatest human tragedy.

In Silicon Valley, workers who gave their lives for a company are being replaced by cheaper labor, and to add insult to injury, they are forced to train the people who are stealing their jobs. In Hollywood, vacuous and ignorant celebrities preach to us about the sacrifices we must make, while they live in obscene luxury.

Giddiness is a symptom of the CaliforniaVirus. It’s how a parent can grin and feel enlightened as a transgender man in a sexy sequined dress reads a story to their 5 year old. It’s how teachers can scold a first grader for calling a friend Johnny who has changed their name to Sally. This Virus redefines child abuse.

This infection of the mind and soul has caused them to come up with ideas like free needles for addicts, and AWOL methods of handling the homeless. (https://sites.google.com/a/coyotes.usd.edu/awolatusd/social-issues/homelessness)

It’s how San Francisco, the most beautiful city in America, has been transformed into a slum, covered in human and medical waste. The fever of CaliforniaVirus is how educators have ignored their children’s need to learn how to read and write, and instead, have indoctrinated them with leftist ideology and books about sexual positions. It is why more and more of our children are turning to suicide.

The Virus says that if a fetus makes it to full-term and is born alive, the mother can still have it killed. The Virus says we should leave our border open so the other virus can get in.”

Its final symptoms are denial and smugness. So what if crime is off the charts? So what if addiction is pandemic? So what if our kids won’t know how to make a living? Who cares if innocent citizens are murdered by those who have illegally invaded our nation? The Virus says, ‘Lift the restrictions on criminals, create a revolving door in our prisons and at the same time, remove the right of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves.’

The CaliforniaVirus will destroy more lives than any other virus. It drains joy, decency, and sanity from its victims. Let’s admit what this virus is…it is pure despair-inducing evil.

So: Why are we here in Chico?

Because the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the cure for the CaliforniaVirus!

It restores dignity. It breaks the chains of addiction. It infuses a lost heart with unstoppable hope. It cleanses the past, empowers the present, and guarantees the future!

Jesus will be in the Tent curing the CaliforniaVirus. Our message is clear, and yes, we will be hated for its clarity.

Nothing can say it better than Acts 2:40, “(Peter) went on in this vein for a long time, urging them over and over, “Get out while you can; get out of this sick and stupid culture!” (The Message)

We are saying to the masses that are lying crushed beneath the weight of California’s moral turpitude—

COME TO JESUS AND BE SAVED AND HEALED!

GOD PROMISED TO DO SOMETHING BIG THROUGH YOU

God promised to do something big you.  You see the darkness gathering.  The clouds of wickedness overtake the land. And there you sit, wanting desperately to be used of God.  You want your gifts to be released.  You want your vision to grow and prosper.  Yet, it feels like a glass wall is holding you back.  What can you do?  Avoid these three mistakes:

1. Know the difference: Entitlement versus Expectation.

When Jesus said that one who is faithful over a little will be faithful over much, it is both a warning and a promise.  I believe it warns us about two attitudes: Entitlement and Expectation.  These look alike but they are polar opposites.

Entitlement tells you to wait until you are in a job that is worthy of your talents before you give it your best. When the ‘entitled’ take a position that they feel is ‘beneath’ them, they work as if they are just passing through.  This always backfires because there are always at least two people watching you.  The first one is your current boss. If they sense that you feel ‘entitled’ and deserve more, they are already looking for your replacement.  The other One Who is always watching you is unseen, and has the power to promote you and to bless you.

Zechariah 4:10 asks, “Who has despised the day of small beginnings?” The answer is, the entitled.  Entitlement makes small beginnings sting.  Great works of God start small and require hard work.  Entitlement doubles your load.  You not only face the hard work that always accompanies success, but you are also grieving over results that are probably better than what should have been expected.  The warning in that phrase, ‘he who is faithful over little will be faithful over much,’ is this: if you are not faithful over little, you will never get to be “over much!”

Expectation gives joy and confidence that God’s blessing is inevitable.   The woman with the issue of blood said within herself, “If I may touch His garment I shall be made well.” [Matt. 19:22].  Expectation finds beauty in the smallest task because God is in the task.  Expectation says, “Keep going, I can get there from here!”  Expectation is a bulldozer that plows under the most discouraging mounds of adversity and setbacks. The promise of Jesus is, ‘he who is faithful over little will be faithful over much.’  God will remember those who were faithful.  He will promote them to bigger things.

2. Go out only at the command of God.  This quote is from God Calling, by A. J. Russell: The world has always seen service for Me to be activity.  Only those near to Me have seen that a life apart, of prayer, may, and does so often, accomplish more than all of the service man can offer Me. If man lived apart with Me and only went out to serve at My direct command My Spirit could operate more and accomplish truly mighty things.”

3. Stop human striving in order to do mighty things. Stopping seems foolish until you look closely at the demands of your day and question your motivations.  Why do you do these things?  You will see things that other people are saying you must do.  You will see things that you only think are vital.  You will see things that you are doing that only God can do. Martha complained to Jesus that her sister Mary should be helping her more.  Jesus said, “She has chosen the better part.” Let God’s inspiration take the place of your own aspiration.

The world doesn’t need ‘supermen’—it needs ‘supernatural men.’  It needs people who will persistently refuse to work by Human Effort and, instead, allow Divine Power to work through them.  Do not fear unemployment! God wants to work through you. He always has plenty of work that needs to be done, and He always pays His workers well!

Mario has a new book! Listen to what Pastor John Kilpatrick, who led the Pensacola Revival, said about Mario’s  book:
“As I read the manuscript for Mario Murillo’s new book, Vessels of Fire and Glory, I said to myself, “Finally!” Mario has measured the church and the nation in this season and did not hold anything back. His honesty is like the sun rising inside a dark cave. This release is a paradox—it is sobering and refreshing; it is symptoms and the cure. I believe this revivalist has penned a treatise that should be in the hands of all who lead the work of God.”

GOOD NEWS

There is good news that I have been hesitant to bring you because it seemed too good to be true. I wanted to be sure that it was not just a temporary phase. It is time for me to tell you my own wonderful discovery. But first I want to address something on a much wider scale than my own personal experience.

Is the American church going the way of the hula hoop and the lava lamp? Is it just a matter of time until our faith dies out in America? Leftists love to say this, but it turns out it is a total lie.

Glenn T. Stanton wrote in an article entitled New Harvard Research Says U.S. Christianity Is Not Shrinking, But Growing Stronger:

“New research published late last year by scholars at Harvard University and Indiana University Bloomington is just the latest to reveal the myth. This research questioned the “secularization thesis,” which holds that the United States is following most advanced industrial nations in the death of their once vibrant faith culture. Churches becoming mere landmarks, dance halls, boutique hotels, museums, and all that.

“Not only did their examination find no support for this secularization in terms of actual practice and belief, the researchers proclaim that religion continues to enjoy “persistent and exceptional intensity” in America. These researchers hold our nation “remains an exceptional outlier and potential counter example to the secularization thesis.””

It seemed too good to be true, but then I started getting the calls—calls from leaders who openly opposed the positions I have been declaring in these blogs. They were offended by my insistence on letting the Holy Spirit move.

They began to tell me how they are seeking God and repenting. They began to tell me how they changed their sermons. What is really stunning is that the power of God is flowing in their services, and the crowds which were there for entertainment are now clamoring for more Bible. Prayer meetings are starting to outdraw church socials.

Where we feel it the most is in our tent crusades. Churches who were in deep division are now joining together. They are dropping their differences in order to win the lost.

I can only report to you what is happening in my corner of the world. I was afraid this was just a passing fancy, but it appears that this change is truly taking hold!

You, our faithful readers, have a real hand in this miracle. I freely admit that I have been stern, but apparently what I have been writing is taking hold in the hearts of leaders. The good news is that hearts are turning back toward God, and it appears to be expanding.

If you think that means I will let up in my intensity in speaking the Word of the Lord—think again. We still have widespread corruption, error, and counterfeits at work in the church.  Let us at least rejoice that leaders are beginning to listen to prophets, teachers, and in some cases, even to me.  All glory to God!

OUR TENT CRUSADE IN PARADISE BEGINS THURSDAY. COME IF YOU CAN. PLEASE PRAY.

Don’t Bash Kenneth Hagin’s teachings. They have power to cure racism in the inner city.

A middle school teacher rants to her students that the white man is responsible for everything that is wrong.  She even singles out white students in the class, telling them they’re responsible for what their ancestors did.
In New Orleans, a drive through restaurant adds a “white surcharge” because “there’s no way to fix white privilege except by charging white folk extra.”
What does it do to minority children when they are told they are victims?  How can anyone think it gives them motivation to try harder?  When you tell them all white people are evil, aren’t you teaching your child to be racist?
They end up feeling they only have two choices: A life of crime or dependency on government handouts.  Some will accuse me of taking complex problems of urban areas and giving simplistic solutions.  Need I remind you I was a Latino minority in the inner city?  I grew up in the violence, the poverty and the racism.
Some will challenge me to prove Brother Hagin’s word of faith is a key.  I will prove my point by asking one question—WHO IS YOUR SOURCE?

It was a central fact of Brother Hagin’s preaching…God is your source.  For the urban young person that means it’s not the government, not a drug, not crime—God is your source.
Some will say that kind of preaching is inappropriate for the inner city.  So I will tell you a story.  I was having dinner with a famous evangelist.  He had just returned from the Philippines.  “I couldn’t preach prosperity to them because they were so poor,” he told me.  I looked at him and asked, “Did you also not preach healing because they were too sick?”
We who are blessed, secretly think  God’s promise to prosper starts at the middle class level.  When you think about it—that’s silly.
If a child, any child, meets Jesus in power, they are a new creation.  Who are you or I to say they are not entitled to all of the same blessings we enjoy just because they are starting from a much lower circumstance?  “Whosoever will” does not stop at salvation. It applies to every level of our walk with God.
Again, Brother Hagin taught that God is your source.  But what does that do about racism?  We have already seen that racism will never end by getting back at the racist.  All that does is create a new racism.  The anger in urban areas is rooted in poverty and lack of opportunity.
So how does the word of faith kill racism at the root?  Because when you say that God is the source of your provision, you are also saying that Satan is the source of your lack.    That is when you stop blaming man—any man—for your lack.

The next thing that Brother Hagin taught was the authority of the Word of God over inner feelings and outward circumstances.  Today, too many Christians go by how they feel or by how things are going for them.  In the inner city that is even more intense.
Self-pity is the most potent drug in the inner city.  When the revelation that you are a redeemed child of God hits you—not matter what is happening or how you feel—you can conquer your surroundings.
Just because we don’t know how God will lead someone out of unspeakable addiction into victory—just because we don’t know how the jobs, education and opportunity will unfold—is not an excuse to hold back the entire Gospel!
I know there are those who have abused Kenneth Hagin’s teachings, (the fact is, everyone’s teaching has been abused) but that does not justify rejection of truth—truth that has the power to transform racism into love and poverty into prosperity.
