The Surprise in San Francisco

A stunning rebuke to watered down Christianity came from an unlikely place: San Francisco.

It was my honor to partner with Chris Burns and the amazing army that formed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love in Golden Gate Park.  THE SOUND was an outreach of many powerful worship artists, dynamic speakers, and a committed core linked hearts to bless the city.  But one thing that happened has wide implications to all believers. A scientific experiment will help you appreciate what I mean.

Biologists put a thick pane of glass in the middle of a large rectangular aquarium.  After filling it with water, they stocked it with small fish on one side of the glass barrier and their natural predator on the other.

Over and over, the larger fish slammed into the invisible barrier trying to feed on the smaller fish.  This went on for days until they gave up.  Then, the scientists removed the glass divider and saw something remarkable: The predators behaved as if the barrier was still there—they didn’t try to eat the small fish. They didn’t even try to go to the other side of the tank.

When we think of San Francisco—and rightly so—we think of smug, anti-God intellectual, lovers of pleasure.  We also think of youth—hard wired, by activist educators, to reject Christ. The church is conditioned not to fish here. There’s your glass pane.

In outreach after outreach, Mario Murillo Ministries has never acknowledged a glass barrier in San Francisco.  It was true again on July 6th and 7th when we joined forces with Chris Burns to win souls in the city.

Holy Ghost boldness overtook me.  I preached an unvarnished soul-winning message.  I refused to employ verbal gymnastics to appeal to a sophisticated culture.

Why—if this place is so hard—did so many respond, so immediately, to a direct gospel appeal?  Nothing was sugar-coated.  It was no credit to oratory.  It was a simple case of hungry and hurting souls reaching out to Jesus—because He was offered to them.

The pictures tell you how many came forward.  Even more astounding was the report Chris gave me about the invasion the next day: “We saw hundreds saved as we took over Golden Gate Park.”

Time and time again, I’ve warned the American church…there is a great harvest in our nation, even in San Francisco.  And…if there is a harvest in San Francisco, how much more in the rest of America?

Fish treading water refusing to eat is ridiculous; preachers refusing to harvest is beyond ridiculous—it is an embarrassment to our cause.  Watered-down, apologetic, murky preaching is a grandiose, inexcusable, waste of time.

Here is the giant question: why are so many Americans so hungry for Christ now?  The answer is simple: our culture made them miserable—a culture created by an elite core of power brokers.  It might be Hollywood; it might be our—hell-bent on telling Americans what to think—media.  They dictate what we should believe, what is good for us, what is right behavior and finally, what would make us happy. None of it works.

Social prophets bludgeon us with progressive platitudes and put a muzzle on any opposing voice.  Group think is the only way Americans can believe patently stupid contradictions: free speech is a threat to freedom—open marriage deepens commitment—suicide is victory—violence is love.

They can control almost everything, but one thing they cannot control: the damage on the soul—the vacuum that hi-tech selfishness creates—the misery of trying to endure on medicated self-pity.

The American church is bitterly failing a generation because we are still hoodwinked by an old model.  We still see the reluctant seeker—the spiritual looky-look.  We don’t see the desperate hearts that grope in darkest America.

We are failing a generation because we are not stronger than our excuses.  The empty calories served up on Sunday morning are a tribute to denial.  They deny the power of the Gospel, and they deny the hunger of the people.  Half-cures are now irrelevant.

The compromised church isn’t the only problem.  Some churches are just strange. There are pastors who pull their hair out trying to understand why new visitors don’t come to church.  They never consider that their shenanigans are weird to outsiders and their members are too embarrassed to invite friends.

When their bizarre and self-serving antics make visitors walk out, they smugly assume they are under conviction.  No…they just think we’re crazy.

The crushing heartbreak is that both these extremes—with their useless methods—continue to be celebrated.  Meanwhile, a nation dies, and lost souls go into eternity.

Every day, Satan sells a new drug that kills kids faster.  Every hour, a new perversion twists the minds of our children.

Mario Murillo Ministries walks the tightrope of the radical middle.  The tepid church rejects us because we preach fire and operate under Holy Spirit unction.  The hyper-emotional church rejects us because we use rigid discipline to keep it real for lost souls.

Right now, I should be rejoicing over the harvest in San Francisco, instead, it ignites fire in my bones.  Millions want the power the Gospel offers.  Leftists lie about it, and Christians misrepresent it.  Nevertheless, I am filled with hope.

There is a story of 4 brave lepers that mirrors the experiment about the fish:  God had scared the enemy away but the city under siege didn’t realize it.  2 Kings 7: 7 “Therefore they arose and fled at twilight, and left the camp intact—their tents, their horses, and their donkeys—and they fled for their lives.  And when these lepers came to the outskirts of the camp, they went into one tent and ate and drank, and carried from it silver and gold and clothing, and went and hid them; then they came back and entered another tent, and carried some from there also, and went and hid it. 9 Then they said to one another, ‘We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent.’”

All the resources to save a starving city sat unused.  The army they feared was gone.  They simply didn’t bother to check the enemy’s camp.  The same is true now.  God keeps everything ready that we need to reach America.  If only we would see that and act on this great promise.

Mario Murillo Ministries is not going to sit and wait for squeamish theologians to figure out how hungry Americans are for Jesus; and how much provision stands ready for those who will rightly divide the Word of God.  The harvest in San Francisco is only the beginning of surprises that God has in store.  Come with us on this great adventure.

STRIKING AT THE HEART OF EVIL AND DESPAIR

When Josh and I drove to the tent, we passed a junkyard.  We saw police with guns drawn.  We knew then we were in the right place—our place.  We are in Stockton, California—one of the nation’s hardest hit cities for violence, poverty and addiction.  We are partnering with Frank Saldana and Inner-City Action.

What God is doing in Stockton is awesome.  The crowds are seeing proof of the power of Jesus.  The miracles are compelling.  Many souls are saved and bodies healed.  However, this blog is about something  way beyond  Stockton.

The real message of this letter is epitomized by this phrase: Striking at the heart of evil and despair.  A great urgency grips me.  I believe our nation teeters on the edge.  Satan wants to blow out the flickering candle of the Gospel here at home.  The Body of Christ is almost totally unprepared for a coming storm because they are feeding on fluff.  The denial that most believers live in today is horrifying.

The signs and wonders revival with Inner-City Action continues until May 27.  Check out the poster for more information about guest speakers and details.

I thank God that this letter is going out to believers who do get it—who want to broom away religious cobwebs and obey God.  The American church needs a dynamic reeducation.

American Christianity needs electrode paddles to the chest.  But you cannot wait for that!  You, right where you are, need to become a weapon that strikes at the heart of evil.  To strike at the heart of evil and despair, do these things:

  1. Face reality! American Christians assume the problem will stay in the inner city. The fire that rages in our inner cities is not going to stay there. This fire is burning its way towards your house right now.  Unchecked, this fire will burn down the whole nation.

A straight-A high school student—with no ties to gangs or drugs—walks out of a convenience store into a hail of bullets.  When I found out about this senseless killing, I asked how it could happen.  The answer was, “He was at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Then it hit me like a Mack truck:  Satan is turning entire cities into THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME.

  1. Wake up to the work: We are not doing a good work—we are doing the work. A well-meaning Christian said, “Mario, you are doing a good work.” I gently corrected him by showing him how other Christians misuse that phrase.

If someone says, “You are doing a good work,” it is often code for, “I am glad I don’t have to do what you are doing.”  The connotation is: this is a special work and not for everyone.  But it is for everyone.  Saving America is every believer’s business.  Getting filled with the Holy Ghost to serve is the mandate for every child of God.  We are not doing a good work—we are doing THE WORK.

Years of bad teaching coaxed the church away from the real work.  The self-entitlement gospel changed the focus to self-fulfillment instead of fulfilling the great commission.  That is one big reason we woke up to an America we can’t recognize.

What do we have to show for this compromise?  We gained a system that harmlessly herds thousands of Christians into impressive campuses but we lost an entire generation, our values and soon—without a miracle, our freedom.

Jesus said in John 9:4, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.”

  1. God is forging us—you and me—to be the people He has been looking for.

If Church history teaches us anything, it teaches us that God waits for someone to rise in the Name of Jesus and thrust a spear into the heart of evil.  God is always on the hunt for people who will heed His call to action:

Ezekiel 22:30 — So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.

Isaiah 63:5 — I looked, but there was no one to help, I was appalled that no one gave support; so my own arm achieved salvation for me, and my own wrath sustained me.

1 Samuel 14: 6 — Then Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.”

Too many servants of God are powerless—sitting out this great battle—because they refuse to pay the price for a miracle-working anointing.  They circle around the problem but never strike it directly.  They have no heart for war.

  1. Paying the price means you don’t stop no matter what. Remember I told you we would target 10 cities? We targeted them alright, but we were shocked by the blow- back from the enemy.

In one city, we walked into a firestorm of divided churches, violent gangs, and massive apathy among the Christians.  The result was a disappointing event.

This setback hit me hard, but it points out a reality of spiritual warfare: perseverance.   Are we willing to learn from our errors, get back up and attack again with greater force than ever?  Are we ready to keep going no matter what?  The thought of backing off when a nation and lost souls hang in the balance is too terrible to consider.

Evangelists are supposed to give glowing reports filled with pictures that make donors feel their money is well invested.  Are you also willing to weep with us in our disappointments?  Will you stay with me if the vision takes a little longer than we first imagined?  Will you trust my honesty about our progress?

Are you willing to see how some important victories can’t be quantified in numbers and pictures?   After we work with a church, young pastors become permanent revivalists—our workshops jettison hundreds of Christians out of apathy and mediocrity—we mentor other outreach ministries to make them bolder and more effective.

I am not saying we won’t see massive outreaches…those are in the works.  What I am saying is that the battle is fierce—we must be fiercer than the battle.  I never told you this would be easy…but I know it will be glorious.

Now I want to offer one last question.  It is a question that means the world to me:

  1. Are we doing what we say we do? Every ministry should continually ask itself, “Are we doing what we say we do?” If I write you a letter, can I say without hesitation, we are doing what we say we do?

A ministry must always manage itself toward an outcome.  What is the outcome of our efforts?  Why are we doing this?  Do our actions take us to the goal God gave us?  Are we willing to cast everything aside—even good things—if it does not take us to our goal?

When it comes to conviction—when it comes to dedication and hard work—I will put my staff ahead of anyone.  Are we doing enough?  We are desperate to do much, much more. Are we as effective as we want to be?  Not nearly, but we will be.  The answer is summed up this way: We will strike at the heart of evil and despair.

IN LAS VEGAS GOD KILLED A LIE ABOUT AMERICAN YOUTH

In Las Vegas God killed a lie about American youth

By Mario Murillo

We invaded Las Vegas.  It would never have happened without our partners.  God used you to send us to sin city!  I cannot overstate the strategic power of the war chest that you have helped us build.

The building was jammed.  The miracles of healing came effortlessly.   We can’t remember when the presence of God to heal was this widespread in a meeting.

In Las Vegas we saw God kill a lie.  The media is painting a picture of American youth that is a total fabrication.  Last night we saw the total opposite of what they say.  Youth crying out for Jesus to set them free and use them—a militancy for Christ is rising.

There is so much more good news out of Las Vegas but it must wait because I have a word from the Lord for you. It is white hot in my soul.  I will damage myself if I do not express it.

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ROARING:  IGNORE THE OUTWARD APPEARANCE.  DO NOT MISS THE HARVEST OF AMERICA’S YOUTH!

Only once before have I been hit so hard with this mandate.  Jesus revealed the harvest at the University of California at Berkeley.  That campus was an impenetrable prison of atheism.  God burned it in my soul to ignore the outward appearance and press on.  There was a harvest hidden in plain sight.  Because I obeyed and stayed the course thousands were saved.

Now the media has built a new prison for our youth.   They desperately push the lie of a self-absorbed, easily offended, anti-God generation.  The media has to keep this lie alive or they will lose control of a generation.

We know accurate reporting is dead in America.  The media is a mouthpiece of the “social justice” movement.  Political correctness is their drug to keep the masses in line.  If they truly wanted equality and justice, they would not be pathological liars.

American youth are done with Christ?   We know better.  We are in the trenches with them.  We see them sobbing, repenting and crying out to Jesus for identity, destiny and anointing.

5

Get them away from their demonic college professors and the suffocating peer pressure and they melt before the love and power of God—not just in Vegas—but in every city.

Put your ear to the ground.  You can hear something coming…the distant rolling thunder of a generation waking up to Christ.

A harvest of young souls is coming just in time.  What a disaster if we miss it!

Here are the things that the Holy Spirit is roaring.  He is emphatically ordering us to do these the following things to bring in the harvest.

  1. Ignore the appearance and be true to the message: The best messengers have always been faithful to their message. Proverbs 25:13 Says, “Like the cold of snow in time of harvest, is a faithful messenger to those who send him, for he refreshes the soul of his masters.” God is refreshed when His servants are true to his message.

Resist the pressure to alter or sidestep the Gospel.  Mark Dever said, “People often try to improve the gospel, but in “improving” it, they always end up losing it. This gospel we have received is itself full and lacks nothing. Thus, to add to it is only to detract from it—and from God’s glory.”

The Holy Spirit compels us preach, the Cross, the Blood, Heaven and Hell.  These themes convict lost souls.  Billy Graham was accused of preaching simple sermons.  Over and over he’d say “the Bible says.” Yet, millions came forward and he shattered attendance records all over the world.  Instead of dazzling oratory, he built sermons the Holy Spirit could use.

4

  1. Ignore the appearance and embrace a fresh approach. The enemy we face is sophisticated, and well-funded. We must look to God for a fresh approach.  We must saturate our plans in prayer. We must apply solutions from the Holy Spirit.  The ideas must and will come from Him.

While our message does not change our method will and must change.  We cannot change what we say but we must change how we say it.

We must take technology captive and bring it into the subjection of Christ.  Social media is the new agora—the new market place.  It is will be the site of miracles.

We must constantly update our technology and stay current with the changes going on in cyberspace and the youth culture.

  1. Ignore the appearance and let signs and wonders flow.

Why offer a partial cure?  Why not prove the message?  The supernatural must be presented boldly.  We should not fear rejection.  The outward appearance tells us they will mock us.  That appearance is wrong! Ironically, the supernatural has always been a part of youth culture.  They are pre-wired to miracles.

We bring the Kingdom of God to the youth culture—not just words.   Jesus said, “But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you” -Luke 11:20.

2

The 1960’s terrified parents and the nation.  The general consensus was that we had lost an entire generation to drugs and free love.   Look Magazine had a strange premonition.  They said this: “If there is a solution for our youth it must spring up from among themselves.”

Out of nowhere and among themselves came the Jesus Movement.  At first, pastors tried to get the influx of youth to fit the church mold.  Thank God they woke up and embraced the miracles among the young.  25 million Americans were swept into the Kingdom.

God has always told youth what He is about to do.   Young people have always been God’s catalyst to awakenings.  Now, He is saying the most explosive things He has ever said to youth.  He is offering them power He has never offered before.

By ignoring conventional wisdom and the outward appearance this ministry has stayed the course and is reaping the results.  Big miracles are ahead and the best is yet to come.

What we know, that others do not, about reaching youth in America.

Cover shot

What we know, that others do not, about reaching youth in America.

By Mario Murillo

The picture you see is nearly 200 people—mainly youth—surrendering to Christ.  In city after city, this miracle is being repeated.  Our audiences are getting younger and signs and wonders are increasing.

Since I last wrote you, we have hit Austin, Texas, Branson, Missouri and Turlock, California.  Yuba City was so explosive that we are forced to return there on October 11-13th.

In Branson the fire is still falling–many have told us the miracles and salvation of youth are unheard of here–forcing us to extend meetings for a third time.

Here is what we know, that others do not, about reaching youth in America.  That statement sounds arrogant but this is not written in arrogance.  This is coming to you in humble fear and trembling.  It is not a boast—it is a statement of fact.

what we know 2 copy

We declare it because we are in a war.   The great ambition in any war is victory.  To get victory, generals know there are two imperatives:

-You must get the best weapons, in the right hands, as fast as possible.

-You must demonstrate that the fighting is effective.  That way, vital support for the war will grow.

Those are the two unambiguous goals of this letter.  I am going to show you that we have been given a precious insight and edge in the war for our children’s souls.  Then I am going to call for you to take action in this battle for our nation’s survival.

First, here is what we know:

  1. Confronting Obama and speaking out for America does not alienate youth. The wreckage of his administration, the cruelty of his actions toward his political enemies and his arrogant disregard for the economy has cost him dearly among young people.

In a detailed, national poll released by Harvard’s Institute of Politics, nearly half of young voters said they would remove President Obama from office if they could.

We do not preach a right-wing message, but it is our duty to oppose willful destruction of our constitution and our way of life.  The important thing is to do it sparingly, in context, and only by the direction of the Holy Spirit.

Opposing Obama does not close the door to youth; in our case, it opens it.  They blame him for destroying their future.  It may look hip and cool to some preachers to remain silent, but many youth consider them traitors.

What we know 5

  1. They want the Gospel, not gimmicks. In her ground breaking article, How the Seeker-Sensitive, Consumer Church Is Failing a Generation, Dorothy Greco said:

“The millennial generation’s much-talked-about departure from church might lead those of us over 30 to conclude that they have little interest in Jesus. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Unfortunately, their spiritual coming of age has coincided with many Protestant pastors relying on a consumer business model to grow and sustain their churches. This template for doing church and the millennials’ hunger for authenticity has caused an ideological collision.”

Youth feel a huge let down when they go to church and get nothing challenging.    That is why we don’t waste time trying to create a rock concert atmosphere…we are not trying to “relate.”

We openly preach the entire message of Jesus, including the Cross and the Blood.  This touches something deep inside this generation.   Youth want truth.  They sense impending disaster. They know they need something that will last no matter what. They want rock-solid answers, not fantasies.

  1. They want to experience the supernatural presence and power of God. There is nothing more wonderful than that moment when the Holy Spirit begins to do miracles witnessed by a new generation.

In Turlock, God fixed His gaze on a young girl in the balcony.  (As His unworthy servant, I share this with great concern that Christ be given all of the glory). I opened my mouth and out came a list of the names of illnesses and the location of those illnesses in her body.

The collective gasp in the crowd bore witness to the fact of an undeniable miracle.  Her friend told us later that this complete healing revolutionized her and still reverberates to her friends. What we know 3

We get out of God’s way so He can demonstrate his love and power in a way that Main Street will admit that something real is happening…it is the key to our children’s future and our way of life.

Not one young person leaves the meetings spooked by the gifts of the Holy Spirit.  The look of wonder is worth every drop of suffering it took to bring us to this point.

Now I want to talk straight to your heart.

The golden moment—the moment Living Proof is all about–is when youth fully realize that the same God who just healed a serious disease can heal their soul.

Of all the things I could wish for in this world, it would be to have you there when it happens.   If you could, then you would share in my great joy and my great agony.  We need to do so much more than we are doing!   More people need to know about our meetings!  Every night, I leave ecstatic, yet frustrated.

Few events anywhere in America combine the weapons we do in our meetings.   You can’t find another event that so completely and effectively confronts youth with the Gospel.

What intensifies my frustration is that in the few times that we have been able to eke out extra finances to advertise in secular media, our impact grows exponentially. There is no reason we should be held back like this!  We should be able to shout the news of our meetings from the rooftops!

Now, I am asking you to help me do something that will greatly increase our effectiveness.  I have made the decision to leave Christian Television.  Unchurched youth are not watching–it is useless as a tool to get youth to our meetings.

On Wednesday, June 24, I received this clear message from the Lord: “Persecution is about to increase suddenly, but so will my signs and wonders.”    I released a blog about this on Thursday morning, the 25th.

It happened the next day!   On June 26, gay marriage became law.  Suddenly, it was open season on Christians.  Now massive law suits seek to silence the church.

I had to pray and ask, “What do I do if all normal channels are closing?”  The answer is that you don’t wait; you seek wisdom from God.  I did and came to a big decision:

I must leave Christian television and begin building a youth audience through the internet and social media.

We can build a massive youth internet audience for a lot less than you think.  But I must upgrade our equipment.  The good news is that we can do it for only $30,000!

America can still be turned back into one nation under God!  To get there, we must take the steps to fight evil with wisdom and cunning from the Holy Spirit.

I am asking you to write one big historic check to help me build this media. You are the heart of this ministry and you love America.  I know that if we pray and obey we will reach our goal of $30,000!

We made a dangerous promise to America

We made a dangerous promise to America

By Mario Murillo

“So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him time, that he might tell the king the interpretation.  Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. – Daniel 2: 16-18

How bad was the King’s nightmare?  The King said he would kill every wise man unless they could tell the dream and give its interpretation.  Daniel did not know what the King dreamt but made him a promise anyway- Give me time, I will ask God and I will give you the meaning of your nightmare.

This little detail is often left out in the telling of the story of Daniel.  Think of it!  Death is certain if he fails to get a miracle.  He hung his entire life on a prayer.

America is having a nightmare.   Riots spread and international threats escalate.  The nation is gripped with divisive hate, crippling fear and deep uncertainty.

And just as Nebuchadnezzar despised the wise men for not knowing how to help him, America is taking out her frustrations on Christianity.  Americans are in no mood for religion.  They have made their feelings known loud and clear.  They have strayed away from church in droves.   Even hip churches are fading because the inner pain Americans feel is too great for groovy sermons.Donation page for year end letter copy

By announcing LIVING PROOF, Mario Murillo Ministries has made a dangerous promise to America.  Even before the miracles arrive, before we understand how to speak to the agony of our nation we went as far out on the limb as you can go.  We are in the same place Daniel was that night that he prayed.

We have said to America “give us time and we will tell you of your nightmare and give you the meaning you are so desperate to find.”   Our televisions commercials say it, our flyers say it.  We are totally at the out in the open.

Are we fools?  We are not fools and we have never been wiser.  Think about it.  Daniel was already on the death list.  His action was astute and courageous.   He recognized that the supernatural was no longer optional.   The Christians who are still playing church are the real fools.

We have done the only thing a ministry can do in this desperate hour.   We have prayed, sought the Living God and fasted.  We have allowed the searchlight of God to examine our deepest motives.  We have purchased the gold that is tried in the fire.

To evict devils and declare miracles I had to die to self.  I do not miss the old Mario.  I have never been so glad to see him go.

LIVING PROOF is not a meaningless title it is our reality.  The victims of this present darkness must walk into a meeting that is saturated by the presence of God.  They must be told bold and honest things about their soul and Jesus.  Then the Holy Spirit will provide the proof by healing incurable disease and instantly breaking demonic power.

LIVING PROOF is coming to your area!  When it does you will see with your own eyes the very thing that Peter asked God for when he prayed this prayer “Lord behold their threats and grant to your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your Word while You stretch out your hand to heal and let signs and wonders be done in the name of your Holy Son Jesus.” –Acts 4:29

An Open Letter to California

Why you should come for this one night.

May 3 ARC card front copy

By Mario Murillo

If you are facing illness and you are suffering through the current medical quagmire, this is urgent news.  I want you to join me for an unforgettable night of hope and power.  Let me explain more.

I want to share what I have experienced with you.  My experience with the power of Christ to heal began in the most unlikely place and at the most unpromising time.   Mine was not a backwater encounter among the uneducated.   It was in the light of day on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley during the free speech movement.

Jesus himself said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father”-John 14:12.   Those words haunted me and challenged me to answer one of the greatest questions I would ever ask myself:  How do I reach this campus?

What happened to me next did not just breakthrough on campus, but it ended up taking me around the world declaring the greatest news that mankind has ever heard.  There is not enough room here to give you a detailed account of how the healings began.

new-year copy

What matters right now is that you can receive healing and you can satisfy your soul about the reality of God.

I am not asking you to embrace dead religion or a cult.  Reality does not need hype or manipulation.  I am asking you to trade just one night of your life to open your heart to God and let Him give you a miracle inside and out.

Why you should bring someone to this night.  If someone you love is suffering physical illness, bring them and let us pray for them to receive a miracle.  Think of all that they have endured to try to get well.  Instead of waiting for hours in a cold atmosphere let them experience a loving, joyous, faith-filled atmosphere.

If someone you know is unchurched and is honestly seeking to know that God is real, bring them.  My message that night will not just touch the needs of the body but also of the soul.  This is a perfect opportunity for them to receive a miracle in their soul.

Why you should come if you are a Christian who yearns for revival in the Bay Area.  The impact of this night does not end with just healing miracles.  An army of love and light is forming from many churches in the area who are seeking an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  It is our deepest wish and expectation that the power of this night will flow out to the entire Bay Area.

It all adds up to a simple fact:  This is a night you do not want to miss and you will be thankful for the rest of your life that you made the effort to be with us.

Pastors are now Attacking Conservative Christians.  Are they right?

By Mario Murillo

A new book by a well-known pastor says that there is “the tendency on the right and on the left to conflate the kingdom of God with a particular political party. “Many conservative Christians have made the mistake of substituting America for the Israel of the Old Testament, failing to realize the danger of adopting Old Testament principles that were never affirmed in the New Testament. Their message has sometimes been harsh and legalistic, making it difficult for them to proclaim a gospel of grace. Even though there is a great deal of emphasis on the Bible in such churches, it can often be the wrong emphasis.”

What possible fault could you or I find with these words?  At first nothing but a second look reveals plenty.

1.The author does not balance his criticism.  He only singles out Conservative Christians.  He never uses the term “Liberal Christians”…with good reason, because, in this current manifestation of liberalism, Liberal Christian is a mind-numbing oxymoron.   And who can say with a straight face “I have conflated the Kingdom of God to the Democratic Party?”

Democrats roundly booed God and Israel at their last convention and essentially told the believers among them “pick up your Bible and get out.”  They are the party of abortion, atheism, Islam, and same sex marriage.  And then there is their long list of antis’:  Anti-police, anti-constitution, anti-church, anti-Israel, anti-military and anti-free speech for any voice that disagrees with them.

2.Even Paul understood that he had to make a choice even when it is not a perfect choice.  In Acts 23 he faced a death sentence and stood between two political parties:  The Sadducee who sincerely believed in wrong things and the Pharisees who hypocritically believed in right things.

Verse 6 says “But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducee and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!”  With these words Paul clearly sided with the Pharisees.

Matthew Henry said of this moment in Paul’s life “His own prudence and ingenuity stand him in some stead, and contribute much to his escape. His being a citizen of Rome saved him in the foregoing chapter from his being scourged by the chief captain as a vagabond, and here his being a Pharisee saved him from being condemned by the Sanhedrim, as an apostate from the faith and worship of the God of Israel. It will consist very well with our willingness to suffer for Christ to use all lawful methods, nay, and arts too, both to prevent suffering and to extricate ourselves out of it.”

In plain terms, the Republican Party is as bad as the Pharisees but like the Pharisees they are our best choice at this time to escape the disastrous policies that Obama has set in motion that will not only dismantle our freedoms but will drive the church underground.

However, I can tell you with great assurance that many Conservative Christians are displeased with the Republican party and will bail on them if they do when they assume control of the Senate is to  mirror the other party.

3. Conservative Christians do not believe America is modern Israel.  They believe America is a modern miracle.  The author continues his attack on Conservative Christians by saying ““Many conservative Christians have made the mistake of substituting America for the Israel of the Old Testament.”

I can only speak for myself and the multitude of Christian leaders I know.  We do not believe that America is modern Israel we believe America is a modern miracle –a miracle worth fighting for.  We believe that it was a miracle that we defeated England.  We see divine wisdom is in the Declaration of Independence and the American Constitution.

4. Who is being harsh?  The writer finishes his attack on Conservative Christians by saying “Their message has sometimes been harsh and legalistic, making it difficult for them to proclaim a gospel of grace.”  When I read this part, I said a big “HUH?”

As I look around me, I see nothing but grace being preached.  In fact, I see it being exalted even above God’s rightful demands for holiness.  I see a bevy of preachers on talk shows back peddling, parsing words and obsequiously kowtowing to the media.  It would have been more accurate for this writer to say “there are a few pockets left here and there of preachers who are still not preaching grace.”

Don’t ask me who this author is.  I admire him and respect his ministry.  My object in writing this is not to keep you from reading his book but to point out the mistake of trying to be neutral on an issue that is so painfully clear.  Oh, and also, I am saying to any pastor, don’t be a traitor to your brethren just so the world will like you better.

It sounds so spiritual to say “I am not right wing or left wing; I am out of the political arena all together.”  This is especially for urban pastors who face brutal persecution for opposing Obama and for other ministers who wish to appear progressive.

We are in a battle for America and everyone has to choose sides. You either believe that America became great by our own wits or it was God that made us great.  Once you settle that question, you will know what to stand for and what to preach.
