We Won’t Forget

By Mario Murillo

We won’t forget how you bloodied people because of the shirt or hat they wore.  We won’t forget how you burned and looted.  We won’t forget how you torched freedom of speech.

Schumer, Pelosi, and you gaggle of Dem leaders who remain silent in the face of anarchy—do you honestly think we will forget?  We will remember your tacit approval of these riots.

We aren’t fooled by your support for open borders.  It’s not about equality…it’s about staying in power.  How can we forget that?

You hapless Hollywood haranguers who spewed murderous venom—comparing Trump to Hitler, and for calling not only for his death, but for the death of his entire family—will not be forgotten.

haraugne

You nattering nabobs of journalism will live in infamy.  CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post and The New York Times…you have sold your souls to override the will of the people.  Thanks to the internet, social media, and yes, bloggers, you will be fact checked into irrelevance.  How rich!  You complain that Russia hacked the election…while you were the hack of the century for Hillary.   We will never forget how you are still trying to manipulate reality.

We will remember how you all thought you were a resistance movement.  No one said it better than John Feehery in his article for The Hill entitled Dem resistance is futile:

“America is not on the brink of civil war. Trump is not Adolph Hitler or Benito Mussolini. Nor is the so-called “resistance” really a resistance. It’s a political movement.

It’s certainly no French Resistance, which arose after the Nazis invaded and then occupied France in 1940.

The French resistance movement started slow but picked up steam as the German regime revealed itself to be a murderous, plundering, racist group of thugs. By 1944, the resistance became a full-fledged army, capable of going behind enemy lines, cutting off telephone lines, blowing up train tracks and otherwise causing mayhem.

The Democratic resistance movement isn’t capable of stopping Trump’s efforts to appoint his own Cabinet officials because Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) helpfully changed Senate rules right before he retired.

Nor will Democrats be able to stop Trump from appointing his highly-qualified pick to the Supreme Court.

They aren’t much of resistance movement because Trump is not a Nazi and because the United States is not Germany in the 1930s.

An imperfect understanding of history is every bit as harmful as complete ignorance of history.

The Democrats, and more than a few Never Trump Republicans, imagine themselves to be brave, solitary figures standing against the rise of a brutal dictator.

That ridiculous.

We not only have plenty of institutional checks and balances arrayed against any potential dictator. We also are, as a people, a nation that takes its liberties pretty seriously.

We are not the Weimar Republic. We don’t have inflation hitting 300 percent. Unemployment is not at 30 percent but at 4.8 percent.

We might have our fair share of disagreements, but we have a constitutional process to resolve them amicably, without bloodshed.”

hillary-supporter-attacks-elderly-pro-trump-supporter

We will not forget how thugs, thieves and liars tried to pawn themselves off as guardians of liberty.

We are only two years away from having to remember.  We will not loot, lie, or burn… we will vote.  We will enter the booth with vivid images of both your lawless behavior and the politicians who sided with you.

But there are other things we will not forget:

We will not forget the soldiers who died to give us the freedom of speech that you are so wholeheartedly abusing.

We will not forget the unborn whose rights—in the name of rights—you have so blatantly disregarded.

Most of all, we will not forget that we are one nation under God.  We will never forget the holy advantage prayer has been in every national crisis.  We will never forget the Bible—the sacred scriptures that formed the character that made us great.

Lastly, we won’t forget the power of forgiveness.  Many young hearts, because of peer pressure, are being swept up in a frenzy of deceit.  We know Christ has the power to open their eyes and give them new life.  We will never forget compassion and the Good News!

THE FREE SPEECH MOVEMENT JUST DIED WHERE IT BEGAN

The violent, mentally lazy thugs who rioted in Berkeley last night bear no resemblance to the famous protesters of the 1960’s and 70’s.  I know because I preached on the Berkeley campus from 1970 until 1980.

milo

Not only do they not represent the free speech movement—last night, they embodied everything the protest movement hated most.   They did not take up the mantle of free speech—they dismantled it.

How ironic!  What a blasphemous, poetic end!   The free speech movement died where it began: in Berkeley…right where Mario Savio gave his famous and  impassioned speech against the machine.  (see video).

An autopsy will reveal the cause of death: terminal hypocrisy.  Protesting alleged hate speech with actual hate speech.  Condemning fascism by being fascist.  pauley-copy-copy

I once saw a cringe-worthy moment on American Idol.  Simon Cowell blasted a young singer because she had the gall to sing a Whitney Houston song.  He excoriated her for not only having a mediocre voice but for choosing a song that would automatically compare her to a legend.  That is what happened last night.

By staging their melt-down on the hallowed grounds of Sproul Plaza these squealing brats forced an automatic comparison to a real movement.

In case you were under a rock, here is what happened last night:  A speech by Milo Yiannopoulos was canceled by UC-Berkeley police as security failed. Yiannopoulos was evacuated from the area.

News of the rioting made cable news last night as students smashed ATMs and bank windows, looted a Starbucks, beat Trump supporters, pepper sprayed innocent individuals, and set fires in the street. Others spray painted the words “Kill Trump” on storefronts.

“The left is profoundly antithetical to free speech these days, does not want to hear alternative points of view, and will do anything to shut it down,” Yiannopoulos told Fox News host Tucker Carlson in an interview on Wednesday night. “My point is being proven over and over and over again.”

Here are the glaring differences between these coddled punks and the protesters I knew in Berkeley:

Substance:  Back then you heard speeches—speeches that made a case.   They could answer questions.   Today’s so-called left cannot answer questions.  They scream things they hear someone else say.  They make claims that they cannot back up.  If you ask them directly, for example, what does Milo say that is a lie?   They get a deer in the headlights expression.  Today’s campus snowflakes and agitators simply cannot bear to have their viewpoint challenged by facts.  Is it because they intuitively understand that they have no substance?

Free exchange of ideas:  Open mikes were common in Berkeley.  Sometimes wackos would speak but opposing views and open debate were respected. The protestors in Berkeley in the 70’s were often atheists who hated the Gospel.  Nevertheless, they defended my right to preach the Word of God.  Occasionally, I was attacked but my attackers were condemned by most leaders of the movement.

Assisted suicide:  The bottom line is that today’s rioters are killing themselves and their movement. However, it is an assisted suicide.  Older professors, mainline Democratic leaders, aging hippies and a toxic media could intervene but they won’t.   CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, The New York Times and The Washington Post have a vested interest in silencing opposing views…even if it means crippling the next generation’s ability to think logically.

Last night was nothing but hooliganism.  It had all the nobility of domestic violence.

In the video, you see Mario Savio railing against the machine.  He decried a University that simply would not allow opposing views.  Listen rioters, you are now the machine…worse yet, puppets of the machine.

In related news:

University of California denounces the violence and violation of free speech

Campus condemns violence, defends free speech

UC Berkeley condemns in the strongest possible terms the actions of individuals who invaded the campus, infiltrated a crowd of peaceful students and used violent tactics to close down the event. We deeply regret that the violence unleashed by this group undermined the First Amendment rights of the speaker as well as those who came to lawfully assemble and protest his presence.

The university went to extraordinary lengths to facilitate planning and preparation for this event, working in close concert with the Berkeley College Republicans. Dozens of police officers were brought in from UC campuses across the state. Numerous crowd-control measures were put in place. But, we could not plan for the unprecedented. Last night the Berkeley campus was invaded by more than 100 armed individuals clad all in black who utilized paramilitary tactics to engage in violent, destructive behavior designed to shut the event down. At that point the University of California Police Department concluded that the speaker had to be evacuated from campus for his own safety, thereby bringing the event to an end.

For the campus police, the primary objective is always the safety and well-being of our students and the public. That is what informs their strategies and tactics. In that context we are relieved that, as of now, there have been no reports of serious injuries.

We are proud of our history and legacy as the home of the Free Speech Movement. While we have made clear our belief that the inflaming rhetoric and provocations of Mr. Yiannopoulos were in marked opposition to the basic values of the university, we respected his right to come to campus and speak once he was invited to do so by a legitimate student group. The violence last night was an attack on the fundamental values of the university, which stands for and helps to maintain and nurture open inquiry and an inclusive civil society, the bedrock of a genuinely democratic nation. We are now, and will remain in the future, completely committed to free speech as essential to our educational mission and a vital component of our identity at UC Berkeley.

IT’S NOT TRUMP THEY ARE GOING AFTER…IT’S YOU.

coming-after-you-copy

You will not about read this in any Christian magazine.  The radical left has declared a very unusual kind of war on us—a war that Christian leaders will not admit and are totally unprepared to fight.

The Trump victory has inflamed the left so much that they totally rejecting the election and disregarding the rule of law.  Here is what you may already know:

Fake news: NBC poured 400 million dollars into Buzz Feed.  Buzz Feed released fake news that portrayed Trump as a pervert in Russia.  Only Trump was never there and the entire incident was made up to destroy his reputation.

CNN reacted to this in an underhanded way that allowed the narrative to spread while feigning journalistic innocence.

Fake boycotts:  Pop singers who were never invited to the inauguration claimed to boycott it.  Black celebrities like Steve Harvey were eviscerated just for meeting with Trump.  40 Democratic leaders are boycotting the event.

Fake California revolution:  Behaving as if America had been taken over in a coup, California has declared itself a sanctuary state for the resistance.  They have hired former Attorney General Eric Holder to fight all Trump legislation.  California Congresswoman Maxine Waters is moving for impeachment.   Trump is not even in office yet!

cali_sink

Fake Obama peaceful transference of power:  Equally despicable is Obama.  Obama is filled with rage about Trump.  He is frantically using his pen to lay as many landmines as possible for Trump.  He releasing cop killers, terrorists, and traitors—a rogue’s gallery that has but one thing in common—they hate America.

However, all this pales before the news I am about to share with you.  What you must understand—the thing you must get—is, they are not going after Trump—they are going after you.  I am talking about 80% of all Evangelicals and 63 million voters.

They are not calling Trump a racist—they are calling you a racist.  They are not saying Trump hates Gays, Mexicans, and Muslim immigrants—they are saying you do.

According to them: Voting for Trump makes us totally despicable racists and haters who must have our rights revoked.

The 4-alarm leftist hissy fit is only the opening act.  Expect strikes, violent demonstrations, and a towering litany of acts of “civil disobedience.”

Obama is not going away—He will lead the charge.  His true mission to undermine America will kick in now that he is no longer restrained by the presidency.  He will lead a confederation of movie stars, politicians, billionaires, Muslim leaders and minions in the United Nations.

Trump legislation will be throttled at every turn.  The media will launch a withering nonstop assault on every word he says.

As I said, they are not going after Trump they are going after you and me.  If this is true how then should we prepare?  Here are my heartfelt convictions of what we must do now.

yes-they-are-going-after-you

  1. Don’t let them bully you, learn from history.   It is 1776 all over again. British rule then is very much like leftist rulers now.  Loyalists joined British forces in oppressing the colonists and told them that their elected officials were not valid.

The leftist elites are not British monarchs or red coats but they are telling us what we can and cannot believe.  They are seizing our rights.  T.V. Networks and billion dollar companies are working to overrule a free and fair election.

The challenge of the church today is the same as it was in 1776.  Revolutionary war Christians understood that they could not be on the sidelines as their rights were being destroyed.   Their call was to stand with the freedom fighters.

kick-in

  1. We must fight with the weapons of God! Thank God, we are not waging physical war but we are fighting a spiritual war. To fight, we must pray and speak the Word of God.  We cannot afford to listen to those who say we should not speak out against Islam, immorality or far left totalitarianism.

Some ask “won’t this make us look unloving and turn lost souls off to the Gospel?”  On the contrary, when we speak out with the power of the Holy Spirit it will shatter the strong delusion that is pervading our society.

Moreover, the early colonists knew they were building a nation that would be a lighthouse of the Gospel to the world.  The iron curtain that these celebrities and media tyrants are ringing down on us will silence the Gospel and leave Israel at the mercy of all her enemies.

  1. Build on prophecy: If you believe that Trump is a miracle that is a type of King Cyrus then act like it! Seize this divine opportunity to stand with policies that best reflect our values.

With the very same breath that we call Satan a liar…we must call falsehood out!  Preachers all over America must ring the bell of liberty in their pulpits by calling out the intellectual frauds who would remove our freedom.

They are not harmless actors and singers, they agents of tyranny that are not coming after Trump they are coming after you…but if God be for you who can be against you?

He is at war with us.

President Barack Obama listens to a question during a news conference at the White House in Washington, Tuesday, June 23, 2009.(AP Photo/Ron Edmonds)

The proof America is divine is she survived Obama.  The testament to his abomination is that she nearly didn’t.  He is on his way out so why should I bother to speak out about him anymore?  Here is the reason:

He hates America.  He hates Israel.  He hates Christians.  Those three statements are not my reasons for speaking out about him—in fact, they are bait to illustrate my first point.

People will savage those remarks.  They will tell me that I am lying.  They will boast that there is not a shred of evidence to support what I have said.  Aha!  There you have it…it’s the extreme delusion of Obama, the media and his followers that provoked me to write this.

Listen to him!  In the last days of his debacle.  Per him, he did nothing wrong.  He is the best president since Lincoln.  He did more to protect Israel than any other president.  He created millions of jobs.  He never lied.  He stabilized the Arab world.  He improved race relations in America.  He would have beaten Donald Trump.

The delusion that Obama did a good job—when he was far and away the worst president ever—is a threat to our future.   You see, Obama is not going to go away.  He will continue to make mischief because he is at war with us.   Now read what I said back in November of 2015.

He is at war with us.

By Mario Murillo  November 17th, 2015

The American pastor Saeed Abedini–held hostage by Iran was set to fly to freedom but they had to wait for another plane to arrive from America first.  That plane was most certainly carrying $400 million in cash sent from Obama to Iran.  There is also great reason to believe that money will end up in the hands of those who would destroy Israel and America.

In an interview about his release Saeed Abedini was asked, “Were they effectively waiting for the money to come in before they then let you take off?” He answered, “Yeah. They didn’t talk about money. They just told us about the — they told me about the plane. … So, the reason that they said you’re here in the airport is — was just because we are waiting for another plane.”

The Wall Street Journal says “But U.S. officials also acknowledge that Iranian negotiators on the prisoner exchange said they wanted the cash to show they had gained something tangible.

How can this be happening without criminal charges?  Because the White House has rigged the system. Obama is at war with us.  Hillary will continue his war on us.

However, this article is not about Obama. He is mentioned in it.  He is accused in it—he is the villain of it—but it is not about him.  This article is about you and me.  It is about facing the most horrible fact—we have had to face—since the Civil War.

The man who occupies the White House is at war with us.  He is not at war against ISIS.  He is not at war against black poverty.  He is not at war against unemployment.  He is not at war against anything that threatens you.  He is at war with you.

The man who has the most power over Americans is actively working to destroy Americans.  That is a bitter pill to swallow—but swallow it we must.

But how do I convince you that he is at war against us?  I struggled with this for a long time. Then I found an analogy that explains Obama’s destructive style.  He acts like a man that has murdered his wife and is trying to cover it up.

The husband is always the first suspect—no matter what.  Detectives use a different set of eyes than you and I.  The adoring faithful husband is defended by family, friends and neighbors.  He has the perfect alibi.  He has no history of violence.

However, the police will not rule him out if he begins to act strangely.  Say, he shows little sense of loss.  He talks more about himself than he does his dead wife.  If she is missing, he seems to be going through the motions of trying to find her.

Obama’s reaction to the mass murder in Paris is a perfect example.  It is the same, tired, brain-numbing non response to terror.  He is sorry, but not really.  He keeps up the appearance of a caring husband who—having done away with his wife—feigns sorrow.   He has done this after every terror attack.

Obama-Paris-Shooting-1-620x400

Sherlock Holmes said, “How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?”   When you eliminate the impossible about Obama here is what is left: He is motivated by hate.  He hates America.  He hates Christianity.  He hates Israel.

All of his policies carry this one universal criterion: How much it will damage the people I hate.  Use that formula and all of the lights will suddenly go on.  He blocks energy independence, a secure border, a jobs program or anything else that would better our lives.

His foreign, environmental, economic, immigration, and educational, policies fail by design—not incompetence.  He ruined our healthcare; enflames racial division; foments student unrest, and endangers the lives of police officers by design.

He bullies Israel but gives billions to her mortal enemies.

Here is what is really chilling: Even after it was proven that the killers in Paris were Syrian refugees, he will still force us to take in 100,000 Syrian refugees. Is he actually working toward terrorism here at home?

His zeal to end America Israel and Christianity is so great—I seriously believe he would wreak havoc—declare martial law, stay in office beyond his current term—to finish the job.

If you are a true Christian and you want to stop Obama…then stop doing these things:

1.Stop denying that he is at war against you and your children’s future. Face it! How can you do what Christ wants you to do against this evil if you will not admit the evil?

We cannot stop Obama unless we face the fact that he is at war with us. All God-fearing, freedom-loving people must unify against him.  The unity and resolve required to stop him can come only after we face the ugly truth.

2. Quit saying all we need to do is pray.   No one ever prayed like Jesus.  No one ever understood prayer Like Jesus.  No one valued prayer like Jesus.  And yet, He did not just pray.  He went forth in the power of the Spirit.  He rebuked the king—He turned over the tables of the money changers and He verbally blistered the Pharisees.  He did not just pray—He acted on His prayers.

Well,of course we need to pray. I intercede daily.  But to say that all we should do is pray is a cop out.  If you believe that the sole response to Obama should be prayer then you are doing a disservice—not only to America—but to prayer.   Prayer always ends in acts of obedience.

In Acts 4:29 Peter prayed “Lord look on their threats and grant to your servants that with all boldness we may speak Your Word.”  Try this the next time you pray—Ask for boldness and guidance.  Ask to know your place in stopping the war on Israel, Christianity and everything that made America great.  After you pray…you have to take a stand.

slander3. Stop supporting Christian compromise. Why your pastor refuses to preach against the crimes of Obama is not the question—why you still attend that church is the question.

(Special note: I do not believe that the Sunday pulpit should be a constant flow of tirades against Obama.  It should be well-placed and relevant to the instruction of the people.  It should be done to inform believers about why we believe what we believe so they can answer the persecution of the culture.   What I am saying is that it is odd if you do not know where your pastor stands on these issues.)

Your time, talent and money should not be going to the compromised church.  Shift your support. Begin to strengthen the arm of those who are risking all to oppose this tyrant.

4. Stop abusing love. It is not hateful to oppose Obama—it is love. To be silent in face of hatred is hatred itself.  When we remain silent we do not practice love; we hate God’s Word; we hate holiness; we hate truth; we hate sacrifice and courage.

Stop worrying about what millennials think.  Stop worrying about our public persona.  When the truth comes out a grateful generation will thank us for intervening against destruction.

5. Quit saying “I am not going to do anything because it won’t make any difference.” Revivals can be traced to a single person. Do not say that great movements cannot begin with small groups in unpromising circumstances.  Indeed, that is exactly how all great movements have been born.

You have come to the kingdom for such a time as this.  You cannot waste one more moment in fear or self-pity.  God can take your simple prayer and willingness and add His amazing power and wisdom to your endeavors.

What if God has been waiting a hundred years for you to come along—discard fear and doubt—take up the sword of the Lord—and plunge it into the heart of darkness?

Success will not tame this blog

By Mario Murillo

My nerves were frazzled the first time I sat down to write something called a blog.  I argued with God.  I could not see how it would succeed. I knew there would be a firestorm over the things I was compelled to say.  I was right about the firestorm.

Now millions have read the blog in virtually every nation of the world.  Every day we are amazed at the impact of this little blog.

Check out this excerpt from the first time we spoke out:

“The America we once knew has been taken away.  It happened overnight.   Because America has changed ministries must change the way that they relate to this new nation.

Government has become our national God.   This new God is waging an incremental war on the Constitution.  The New York Times just called the U.S. Constitution an evil document that we should give up on.

Obamacare targets freedom of worship.  It forces Christian Institutions to violate their religious convictions.  Cardinal Dolan the spiritual leader of the Archdiocese of New York calls it “an unwarranted, unprecedented radical intrusion.”

The White House met with Cardinal Dolan and several Bishops met with the White House to talk.   He said he was told to “shut up and accept the mandate.”

charade

It is time for the people of God to speak out on the danger of gun control.

Mass shootings have become the excuse to take away our guns.    Obama wants absolute power.

Mahatma Gandhi the great pacifist said, “Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.”

Thomas Jefferson and James Madison believed that the greatest threat to liberty was not foreign invasion or domestic unrest but rather a standing army and a militarized police force that had no fear of inflicting tyranny upon the people.

If Government is our new God, Celebrities are our new pastors.

Ben Stein asked, “Where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren’t allowed to worship God?  There are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.”

Hollywood is the most powerful propaganda machine in history and it has declared war on our faith.

Ministries must change how they relate to America.  1 Samuel 10: 6 Says, “Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. 7 And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do as the occasion demands; for God is with you.

Here is what I believe the occasion demands:

The Holy Spirit is saying we can publicly oppose government tyranny while still maintaining a loving witness.  Acts 16: 37 But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us openly, uncondemned Romans, and have thrown us into prison. And now do they put us out secretly? No indeed! Let them come themselves and get us out.”  Paul had just led a jailor and several prisoners to Christ and now he turns around and exposes politicians who have broken the Roman Bill of Rights.

We must accept the fact that there is a new generation that has no Christian orientation. “And also all that generation was gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, who knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.” Judges 2:10

We must lay a new foundation of faith in America.  We must preach the central doctrines of our faith. The Bible needs to set fire to our sermons.”

bible fire

The big question now is what does the church do now that Trump is president?  In the next few blogs I will open my heart to you about the radical steps the church must take to seize this greatest soul winning opportunity in our lifetime.  Once again we must change the way we relate to government.

I know we need fresh fire.  Prayer, repentance and waiting for new orders are the keys for the American church this Christmas.

One thing is certain…success will not tame this blog.  It will continue to keep its edge.  It will continue to provoke, stretch and force minds to think and hearts to examine themselves.

THE KING CYRUS CRISIS: IF WE BLOW THIS IT WILL BE DISASTER

cyrus-crisis

Trump is not a pastor or a moral reformer.  Trump is a foot in the door—a stay of execution.  He is an act of God to buy the church time to repent and return to her rightful role in American life.

The King Cyrus Crisis: If we blow this…disaster will strike

By Mario Murillo

Something worse than Obama looms.  Something indescribably bad can take over for the agony we have just left.  It will be more hellish than Hillary.  You can already see the evil forming.

Meanwhile, American Christians claim Trump is a miracle like King Cyrus.  In 536 B.C. God moved King Cyrus to fulfill the prophecy of Jeremiah who said that after 70 years the Jews would be sent home from bondage in Babylon.  Cyrus even provided resources to help rebuild Israel.

If history is repeating itself, we had better remember what happened next.  The restoration of Israel faced multiple warheads:

Pagan tribes:  The pagan tribes who settled in Israel set a sophisticated trap for the returning Jews.  At first, they acted like they wanted to help.  Instead, they hampered the work.  When that failed, they launched terror attacks.

Political backlash:  After Cyrus, the enemies of Israel lied to King Artaxerxes, accusing Israel of preparing for war, so the king stopped the work.

Morally corrupted Jews:  Many Jews wanted to stay in Babylon.  Some who came back to Israel were half-hearted in their mission to restore the nation.  Those who were left behind during the 70 years became pagans.  They knew nothing about Scripture or the laws of God.

If not for the astonishing endurance of a handful of priests, prophets, and one notable cupbearer, Israel would have remained in ruins.  (Read Ezra, Nehemiah and Haggai).  It took nearly 80 years after the king’s decree before the Temple and the wall were finished.

Let me let you in on a secret: we can’t wait 80 years—we don’t have 80 years.  Unlike Israel, this is our last chance.  If we do not learn from history—America will never be restored.  If we blow this…expect disaster.

The Christians who want to make America morally great again face significant headwinds and don’t realize it. Here are the threats:

-The left is staging a massive retaliation. A nefarious coalition of universities, billionaires and tech companies are ramping up their rhetoric, paying agitators and plotting against the church.

task

-The media doesn’t care that people know they are lying.  They are stepping up their lies. They learned nothing from Trump’s victory. The crocodile tears we saw from some media outlets meant nothing.  Their blatant falsehoods are back with a vengeance.

-Most Christians don’t know what to do because they don’t understand the miracle.  They thought Trump would save us.  They are not preparing for the work that we need to do right now.  They are already disappointed in Trump because they don’t get it.

Trump is not a pastor or a moral reformer.  He will not be a social conservative who will fight for family values.  If you look to him for that, you will be disappointed.  Worse still, it will distract you and you will miss your assignment in this miracle.

If you ever listened to anything I ever said, I beg you, listen now!  Trump is a foot in the door—a stay of execution.  He is an act of God to buy the church time to repent and return to her rightful role in American life.

Trump broke the political correctness that threatened to swallow us whole.  The revival is our job, not his.

-Morally corrupt Christians and lukewarm pastors don’t appreciate the miracle.   Why would we expect a generation of believers raised on Pablum to know what to do with this miracle?  They don’t read the Bible or pray.  They have never truly repented.  They have no concept of sacrifice.  There is no way they will stand in the heat of battle.

-We are not seizing the moment to repent because we do not appreciate God’s mercy.  The Jews did not appreciate the miracle of Cyrus’ decree.  It did not provoke them to repent.  Ezra the priest said, “And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, since You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such deliverance as this, 14 should we again break Your commandments…” -Ezra 9:13,14.   This is a chilling warning to us.

muster

-We want Trump to do things for us that we must do ourselves.   Winning the lost is up to us, not Trump.  Trump may not be a big help to the church.  The Jews thought they could keep going back and complaining to the King about the same thing.  They vainly tried to communicate with the King and found that it was a waste of time.

The American church must build on the opportunity that Trump gave us. We must wake up to our task!  Our disunity is killing our cause.  Petty differences have never looked so petty!  We must shake off the disastrous apathy and complacency that is dulling us to our duty.   Churches must come together in citywide prayer and soul winning.  Pastors must push back on the lies being perpetrated against orthodox Christianity—they must roar from their pulpits.

We must muster all our strength and stand strong.  Seize this miracle for what it is. Remember the words of the man who God told to make Israel great again and build the wall, “And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, ‘Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.’” -Nehemiah 4:14

Trump will have vast powers. He can thank Democrats for them.

Trump will have vast powers. He can thank Democrats for them.  Liberals liked executive authority as long as Obama wielded it. Now they’ve set a precedent.

Glenn Greenwald: Trump will have vast powers. He can thank Democrats for them.

Glenn Greenwald, co-founder of the Intercept, led the NSA reporting that won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for the Guardian.

Liberals are understandably panicked about what Donald Trump can carry out. “We have a president-elect with authoritarian tendencies assuming a presidency that has never been more powerful,” Franklin Foer wrote this past week in Slate. Trump will command not only a massive nuclear arsenal and the most robust military in history, but also the ability to wage numerous wars in secret and without congressional authorization; a ubiquitous system of electronic surveillance that can reach most forms of human communication and activity; and countless methods for shielding himself from judicial accountability, congressional oversight and the rule of law — exactly what the Constitution was created to prevent. Trump assumes the presidency “at the peak of its imperial powers,” as Foer put it.

Sen. Barack Obama certainly saw it that way when he first ran for president in 2008. Limiting executive-power abuses and protecting civil liberties were central themes of his campaign. The former law professor repeatedly railed against the Bush-Cheney template of vesting the president with unchecked authorities in the name of fighting terrorism or achieving other policy objectives. “This administration also puts forward a false choice between the liberties we cherish and the security we provide,” he said in 2007. Listing an array of controversial Bush-Cheney policies, from warrantless domestic surveillance to due-process-free investigations and imprisonment, he vowed: “We will again set an example for the world that the law is not subject to the whims of stubborn rulers.”

Yet, beginning in his first month in office and continuing through today, Obama not only continued many of the most extreme executive-power policies he once condemned, but in many cases strengthened and extended them. His administration detained terrorism suspects without due process, proposed new frameworks to keep them locked up without trial, targeted thousands of individuals (including a U.S. citizen) for execution by drone, invoked secrecy doctrines to shield torture and eavesdropping programs from judicial review, and covertly expanded the nation’s mass electronic surveillance.

Blinded by the belief that Obama was too benevolent and benign to abuse his office, and drowning in partisan loyalties at the expense of political principles, Democrats consecrated this framework with their acquiescence and, often, their explicit approval. This is the unrestrained set of powers Trump will inherit. The president-elect frightens them, so they are now alarmed. But if they want to know whom to blame, they should look in the mirror.

Obama’s approach to executive power flipped so quickly and diametrically that it is impossible to say if he ever believed his campaign-era professions of restraint. As early as May 2009, Jack Goldsmith, a Justice Department official under George W. Bush, celebrated Obama’s abandonment of his promises to rein in these authorities, writing that “the new administration has copied most of the Bush program, has expanded some of it, and has narrowed only a bit.” He added that the “Obama practices will be much closer to late Bush practices than almost anyone expected in January 2009.”

By putting a prettier liberal face on these policies, and transforming them from a symbol of GOP radicalism into one of bipartisan security consensus, the president entrenched them as permanent fixtures of the American presidency. As Goldsmith put it, Obama’s actions were “designed to fortify the bulk of the Bush program for the long-run.”

Liberals vehemently denounced these abuses during the Bush presidency. From 2001 through 2008, Democrats called them the embodiment of tyranny, an existential threat to democracy, a menacing expression of right-wing radicalism. “America’s Constitution is in grave danger,” Al Gore warned in a widely praised 2006 speech on civil liberties. Bush had become “the central threat that the founders sought to nullify in the Constitution, an all-powerful executive, too reminiscent of the king from whom they had broken free.” In one 2007 poll, 57 percent of Democrats said they wanted the Guantanamo Bay prison camp to be closed.

But after Obama took office, many liberals often tolerated — and even praised — his aggressive assertions of executive authority. It is hard to overstate how complete the Democrats’ about-face on these questions was once their own leader controlled the levers of power. According to a 2012 Washington Post-ABC News poll, 53 percent of self-identified liberal Democrats and 67 percent of moderate or conservative ones now supported keeping Guantanamo Bay open. After just three years of the Obama presidency, liberals sanctioned a system that allowed the president to imprison people without any trial or an ounce of due process.

In fact, a new Democratic Party orthodoxy took hold under Obama: the right of a president to detain people, or even assassinate them, without charges or a whiff of judicial oversight. This included even American citizens. “We do not believe that [Anwar] al-Aulaqi’s U.S. citizenship imposes constitutional limitations that would preclude the contemplated lethal action” by the military or the CIA, a Justice Department memo proclaimed in 2010.

Democrats (who had bitterly complained in 2005 about mere eavesdropping without court approval) not only failed to contest this assassination program but ultimately expressed their support for it. “Fully 77 percent of liberal Democrats endorse the use of drones,” according to the write-up of that 2012 Post-ABC poll. Support drops “only somewhat when respondents are asked specifically about targeting American citizens living overseas, as was the case with Anwar al-Awlaki, the Yemeni American killed in September in a drone strike in northern Yemen.”

And of course, Obama aggressively expanded the system of mass surveillance, including on U.S. soil, that had been secretly implemented by the National Security Agency after 9/11. Once Edward Snowden showed the world what had been created, many Democrats became the leaders in protecting this spying system from meaningful limits, reform or oversight. When, in the immediate aftermath of the Snowden revelations, a bipartisan coalition of House members headed by Reps. John Conyers (D-Mich.) and Justin Amash (R-Mich.) sought to impose serious limits on the NSA’s domestic spying, the White House turned to then-Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to lead the successful effort to stop them.

Civil liberties advocates and proponents of limited executive authority tried everything they could think of to persuade and cajole Democrats to rediscover their concerns about these abuses and once again become allies in the battle to constrain government power. But those efforts were largely futile. Partisan loyalties easily subordinated any commitment to the principles that they had purported, in the Bush years, to support.

The problem such advocates encountered was the same one they’d faced during the Bush presidency when trying (and failing) to persuade putatively small-government conservatives to oppose these expansions of presidential power: namely, many people are perfectly content to have such authority vested in leaders they trust, and fear them only when a politician from the opposing party wields them.

As such, the tactic of last resort to induce Democrats and liberals to oppose such policies was to ask them to think about how, one day, these powers could be in the hands of someone other than a benevolent, kind-hearted, trustworthy progressive like Barack Obama. Instead, Democrats were urged, imagine that a right-wing authoritarian, or a lawless demagogue, or a petty, vindictive tyrant won the presidency and inherited the framework of unrestrained, unchecked powers that Republicans implemented and Democrats expanded.

That day has arrived. With Trump looming, there is much talk of uniting across ideological and partisan lines to impose meaningful limits on executive authority, and those efforts are justified. But, as progressives were repeatedly warned, a matrix of power that has been defended and legitimized for 15 years by both parties will be very difficult to uproot.
