HAVE I GOT THE EVENT FOR YOU

Have I got the event for you.  You can conquer inadequacy, depression, insecurity, and confusion. You can take more ground from the enemy than you ever imagined. You can force changes in the world.
Christian world changers were far more common at other times in history. What happened? What is blocking this generation of Christians from experiencing the victory promised in the Bible?
Are you hungry for more?
David Wilkerson said, “God-hungry people are saying among themselves, “This is not it. There is something more. The bigness and the sensationalism of it all has left us empty and dry. We want more. More than entertainment. More than big, showy buildings. More than a shallow celebrity gospel. We want deeper values. We want to see Jesus. We want spotless robes of righteousness. We want to go back to doing things in total dependence on God.”
Instruction is nothing without fire, and fire is wasted without instruction.  That is why you must hear from voices that embody both fire and wisdom—you need to sit under people who have tested and proven their message on the front line.  Finding those voices is not easy.  I found them.
Sean Smith: The only way I can describe Sean…is prophetic evangelist.  His father was killed by police and, yet he rose to excel at University, and then build a world-wide ministry.  You will never forget the clarity, miracle ministry, and passion of this singular vessel of God.

Brian Barcelona: Most have heard of Roosevelt High School in Los Angeles.  But who ever imagined a Christian Club with 700 students in attendance at any High School. But Roosevelt High?  Casting aside the impossibility of his task, Brian built a new kind of Campus ministry.  His ministry is exploding nationwide.  He’ll fill you with faith and vision.

Isaiah Saldivar: High school student and avowed atheist meets Jesus like Saul of Tarsus.  He begins preaching in a living room.  Soon 400 young people pack it on Tuesdays. They move to a church where now for six years going tens of thousands have come to The Awakening 209.  Isaiah now preaches worldwide destroying complacency and igniting awakening. He’ll ignite it in you.

Chris Burns: I wanted a worship leader who could do more than sing well.  Chris has a life to back up his revolutionary music.  He will break the atmosphere wide open and lay the foundation for life changing revival. Chris Burns is a worshiper, singer/songwriter and preacher. He has traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Asia, Europe and even the Middle East the past 10 years with songs, worship, and the preaching and teaching of the Gospel.

Think about it.  You are going to attend a conference, seminar or convention this year.  Choose the one that will change your life and equip you to change the world.   The convention is free, but you must have a ticket.  You can print out your ticket right now by using the link below.  Do it now.  Space is limited.

Kenneth Hagin warned against today’s materialistic gospel

Before He died Kenneth Hagin warned against today’s materialistic gospel.

By J. Lee Grady

Charismatic Bible teacher Kenneth Hagin Sr. is considered the father of the so-called prosperity gospel. The folksy, self-trained “Dad Hagin” started a grass-roots movement in Oklahoma that produced a Bible college and a crop of famous preachers including Kenneth Copeland, Jerry Savelle, Charles Capps, Jesse DuPlantis, Creflo Dollar and dozens of others—all of whom teach that Christians who give generously should expect financial rewards on this side of heaven.

Hagin taught that God was not glorified by poverty and that preachers do not have to be poor. But before he died in 2003 and left his Rhema Bible Training Center in the hands of his son, Kenneth Hagin Jr., he summoned many of his colleagues to Tulsa to rebuke them for distorting his message. He was not happy that some of his followers were manipulating the Bible to support what he viewed as greed and selfish indulgence.

Those who were close to Hagin Sr. say he was passionate about correcting these abuses before he died. In fact, he wrote a brutally honest book to address his concerns. The Midas Touch was published in 2000, a year after the infamous Tulsa meeting.

Many Word-Faith ministers ignored the book. But in light of the recent controversy over prosperity doctrines, it might be a good idea to dust it off and read it again.

Here are a few of the points Hagin made in The Midas Touch

1. Financial prosperity is not a sign of God’s blessing. Hagin wrote: “If wealth alone were a sign of spirituality, then drug traffickers and crime bosses would be spiritual giants. Material wealth can be connected to the blessings of God or it can be totally disconnected from the blessings of God.”

whistle

2. People should never give in order to get. Hagin was critical of those who “try to make the offering plate some kind of heavenly vending machine.” He denounced those who link giving to getting, especially those who give cars to get new cars or who give suits to get new suits. He wrote: “There is no spiritual formula to sow a Ford and reap a Mercedes.”

3. It is not biblical to “name your seed” in an offering. Hagin was horrified by this practice, which was popularized in faith conferences during the 1980s. Faith preachers sometimes tell donors that when they give in an offering they should claim a specific benefit to get a blessing in return. Hagin rejected this idea and said that focusing on what you are going to receive “corrupts the very attitude of our giving nature.”

4. The “hundredfold return” is not a biblical concept. Hagin did the math and figured out that if this bizarre notion were true, “we would have Christians walking around with not billions or trillions of dollars, but quadrillions of dollars!” He rejected the popular teaching that a believer should claim a specific monetary payback rate.

5. Preachers who claim to have a “debt-breaking” anointing should not be trusted. Hagin was perplexed by ministers who promise “supernatural debt cancellation” to those who give in certain offerings. He wrote in The Midas Touch: “There is not one bit of Scripture I know about that validates such a practice. I’m afraid it is simply a scheme to raise money for the preacher, and ultimately it can turn out to be dangerous and destructive for all involved.”

(Many evangelists who appear on Christian television today use this bogus claim. Usually they insist that the miraculous debt cancellation will occur only if a person “gives right now,” as if the anointing for this miracle suddenly evaporates after the prime time viewing hour. This manipulative claim is more akin to witchcraft than Christian belief.)

Hagin condemned other hair-brained gimmicks designed to trick audiences into emptying their wallets. He was especially incensed when a preacher told his radio listeners that he would take their prayer requests to Jesus’ empty tomb in Jerusalem and pray over them there—if donors included a special love gift. “What that radio preacher really wanted was more people to send in offerings,” Hagin wrote.

Thanks to the recent resurgence in bizarre donation schemes promoted by American charismatics, the prosperity gospel is back under the nation’s microscope. It’s time to revisit Hagin’s concerns and find a biblical balance.

Hagin told his followers: “Overemphasizing or adding to what the Bible actually teaches invariably does more harm than good.” If the man who pioneered the modern concept of biblical prosperity blew the whistle on his own movement, wouldn’t it make sense for us to listen to his admonition?

THE NUMBER ONE CRISIS IN THE AMERICAN CHURCH

It threatens the church more than drugs, pornography, Islamic terror, fake news or any impending world calamity.  It is the number one crisis in the American Church.

Left unchecked, it can’t be overstated how much damage it will do.  Yet, as dangerous as it is—and this is the maddening part—it is utterly curable, and preventable.   Tragically, we may not have the heart or the stomach to solve this crisis.

So, who, or what is the culprit?  Let me ask you: Who is using up vital resources? Who is driving pastors into deadly compromise—or out of the ministry entirely?  Who is responsible for shutting down, derailing, and destroying the things that matter to the Christian faith?  The answer is painful…are you even sure you want to know?

The villain is a monster of our own making.  University professors may have invented the easily triggered, woefully self-righteous, self-centered, quivering in their safe place, snow flake.

We have concocted something much worse.  We created the Low Impact-High Maintenance Believer or LIHMB.  They are a monstrosity of the church growth—by any means necessary—movement.  They have created the perfect storm.

How do I explain them to you? Think of the intensive care unit.  There is a tube up the nose.  There is an I.V. in the arm pumping fluid, or painkillers.  There is a heart monitor, and a breathing machine.  They all serve the same purpose.  They keep the patient alive…artificially.  Many church programs today do that.

The difference between hospital and church care is machines in the hospital are for those who can’t do for themselves…in the church, they are for those who won’t do for themselves.

They are why money for soul winning and giving to the poor is (pardon my pun) going down the tubes.  They consume all available staff and resources.

Because they are fickle, they started a price war between churches—discounted discipleship.  Pastors compete to have the shortest service, most convenient parking, best coffee, and the least offensive sermon.  Suddenly church is speed dating.

We now have an odd irony.  Church used to be about getting people to God. Now it seems to be about protecting them from God.

The Bible prophesied LIHMBs:  2 Timothy 4: 3 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

They can’t handle life.  They can’t fathom self-denial.  They hold preachers hostage to programs that consume—sermons they hate preaching, and shallow audiences.

LIHMBs are the reason many godly people have given up on Sunday mornings.  But LIHMBs do even more damage.  They create a special kind of discouragement.  Think of the man or woman of God who pastors by the Book.  They see a church use stunts and explode overnight.  An immature believer says, “I am leaving, you don’t have what I need.   A heartsick vessel of God wonders, “am I a fool for sticking to my convictions?  Is it true that the pure Gospel anointed by the Holy Spirit can’t grow a church today without gimmicks?”

Daniel 11:32 says, “the people who know their God will be strong and carry out great exploits.”  The LIHMB version should read, “the people who think they know God will be weak and carry out nothing.”  Actually the Bible does say, “Having a form of Godliness but denying the power thereof.”  -2 Timothy 3:5

Like I said, the answer is so simple it is maddening.   Dear leader:

1. REPENT!  Drain the swamp.  Clear your heart of toxic ambition and carnal goals.

2. Meet with your deacon possessed leaders and drop the gauntlet: “We are going to return the control of this Church to the Holy Spirit—center it on Christ, and let the chips fall where they may.”

3. Expect! Expect many to leave.  Expect the presence of God to return.  Expect a whole new crop of true disciples to arrive ready to serve.  Expect turn away crowds coming early for the right reasons.  Expect them to stay and grow.

Is it true that the pure Gospel anointed by the Holy Spirit can’t grow a church today without gimmicks?   To the tens of millions of Pentecostals in emerging nations who regularly see miracles, and multitudes saved, and filled with the Holy Spirit…that is a silly lie.

There are two massive reasons for us to have hope for real disciples, real revival and real impact on our culture:  The Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit is tasked with giving us power, strategy and a mouth and wisdom that our adversaries cannot gainsay or resist.  He was sent to grow the Christian movement.  The most talented church marketer pales as a pathetic substitute for the wisdom and power of the Holy Spirit.

The Church offers the most irresistible attraction of the universe:  Jesus Himself!  Phillip Schaff said: “This Jesus of Nazareth, without money and arms, conquered more millions than Alexander, Caesar, Mohammed and Napoleon; without science and learning, He shed more light on things human and divine than all philosophers and scholars combined; without the eloquence of schools, He spoke such words of life as were never spoken before or since, and produced effects which lie beyond the reach of orator or poet; without writing a single line, He set more pens in motion, and furnished themes for more sermons, orations, discussions, learned volumes, works of art and songs of praise than the whole army of great men of ancient and modern times.”  Amen.

THANK GOD FOR THE HONOR OF LIVING IN THESE TIMES

Today, millions of God’s children will gather around tables to give thanks for many things.  However, there is one thing we might never think to thank God for. When I tell you what it is, you may find it hard to believe you should be thankful.   Especially since the times are dark, evil, angry, and dangerous.  And, these are the most terrible days of attack ever on marriage, families, churches, and society as a whole.    Nevertheless…

Today, we should thank God for the honor of living in these times.

First, it is an honor because of what you will see God do.   These are times God will do special things, through special people.  He gives grace that is not available in “normal” times.  He grants extraordinary power, wisdom and courage.

A life of knowing God and serving God is available to you that was not available in other times.  Daniel 11: 32 “Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”

Next, it is in the darkest times that the greatest Glory rises.  Isaiah 60: “And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. 2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. 3 The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.”

Then, there is the unspeakable honor of suffering shame for Christ.   Acts 5: 41 says, “So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.”

Jesus said, in Matthew 5:11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Jesus will declare your heroism to the Father before the entire host of heaven.  For endless ages, you will be able to tell the story of how God’s grace held you through impossible circumstances.

You were born for this time.  It is not punishment, it is not an accident, it is an honor.  There is a design in the timing of your life.  We all yearn for the simpler times—but the rewards are greater—much greater, in our time.

All the Saints who have gone before us would give almost anything to be in our shoes.  Jesus said, “Luke 10: 24 for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it.” – Luke 10: 24.  Today, thank God for the honor of living in these times.

God bless you and yours this Thanksgiving day.

FINAL INSTRUCTIONS

God is doing a secret work in our day. He is raising up a hungry people who are growing more and more dissatisfied with the fleshly, worldly system as it now exists—even in the church.

These God-hungry people are saying among themselves, “This is not it.

I see it all over the nation today — disillusioned Christians searching for reality. The people in the pew are beginning to fast and pray. They are the ones who now weep between the porch and the altar. And, they are crying out for more depth and more of eternal values from the pulpit. If the minister of their church goes on in some egocentric way, pursuing expensive dreams, they will go out looking for a place where their deepest spiritual needs will be met.

I know it to be a fact that numerous ministers share my own desperate hunger for a deeper work of God in the church and ministry today. There seems to be a secret underground network of men of God who are stripping themselves down, humbling themselves, and getting back into the secret closet of prayer. Recently I have met a number of ministers, of various denominations, who are praying up to 6 and 8 hours a day. They are fasting. Some of these dear men of God grieve over conditions in the church today. God is revealing to all praying people that a glorious new work of the Spirit is about to break forth. God is going to shake everything that can be shaken. He will tear down the old political, backslidden, ecclesiastical system. He will disown the formal, super-church structure. He will chase out of His presence all who are engaging in self-promoting ministries.

Be honest, saints of God. Are you really satisfied with the religious system today, and especially in your church? Some are. But most are not getting their needs met. I believe we have gotten off the track of true spirituality. The spiritual leanness of so many Christians today is a direct result of getting into the flesh — trying to do kingdom work in our own power, with worldly methods. Our values are becoming perverted.

Shame on us! We are substituting temporal values for eternal ones. We have evangelists and teachers who specialize in telling believers how much God owes them. Material blessings are magnified, spiritual ones minimized. According to some, it is our right to be rich, successful, and immune to all pain.

These teachers point to themselves as examples of prosperity. “Look at me,” it is said, “I have proved the promises. I live well. I am never sick — I have no unpaid bills. I drive the best cars. I live in the finest home. It works for me, so believe as I do and you can have what I have.”

Beloved, how much of that teaching will stand up before the judgment seat of Christ? There is a growing inner knowledge in me that most of our modern, self-centered teaching is going to be consumed before the flaming eyes of the Son of God.

John, in his vision of the Son of God, saw an awesome sight.

“…his head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire…” (Rev. 1:14).

John goes on to say,

“…I fell at his feet as dead…” (v.17).

Will any of us, as teachers and evangelists, be able to stand before those piercing eyes of flaming fire? Can any Christian look Him in the eyes? No ego can withstand His gaze. No self-centered dreams can go unexposed. All secret sin will be exposed as a terrible abomination in His sight.

All the things we have accumulated will burn. All the great works we have done for Him, with such zeal and sweat, will they also burn?

burn

How important is what you are doing to God’s kingdom? God can give you the desire of your heart, but send leanness to your soul. God assisted Israel in their desire to have a king. But He later disciplined them for their selfish motives.

Are you in some kind of competitive race? Are you doing things for God just to keep up with others? In eternity, looking back—how really necessary will it all be then?

Children of God, what is the good of what you and I are doing? Do we have motives based on eternal values? If we truly believe the end of all things is upon us, what should we be doing about purging our values? What is it going to take to wake us up and get us out of the drift toward ease and comfort?

I confess to you that it has taken years for me to live only for eternal values. I grieve when I think back of the time and money I wasted trying to build something tangible for God. I wanted something people could see. How important I thought those buildings were to God’s kingdom. I convinced myself, “God deserves the best.” He does—but not in bricks, mortar, and steel—He deserves the best of our time and yieldedness. Thank God for the day the Spirit revealed to me how shallow my values were! I spent 20 years planning programs, building buildings, running all over the world trying to show God how important to His kingdom I was. All the while my reputation grew as a minister of faith and vision. Yet, after each new project, I felt a letdown. No sooner was one building finished, and I was already planning another. I was an idea-man for God. I had more ideas than any preacher in America. Ideas on how to evangelize. How to organize New Testament programs. The programs and ideas were successful enough to entrap me and keep me on the treadmill of busy-ness.

But all along my heart yearned for more. I knew the blessing was not in building. Not in some well-planned scheme to reach the lost. Not in bigness, and not in activity. I discovered the hard way, that the glory of God, the peace and joy of the Spirit, was in being stripped down, emptied, and made totally weak. God had to expose all my values. He turned His flaming eyes on my soul and showed me I had better reject my old way of doing things, or be lost in a maze of self-imposed activity.

Now, my greatest joy is waiting upon Him for direction. I have made time to be alone with Him, and have prepared my soul to abide in His quiet presence. He is letting me sense what the Spirit is saying to this generation. The more He empties me, the more He fills me with a desire to depend only on Him for everything. I see now that all along the Lord was waiting for me to lay down all my plans, all my ambitions, and be given over to Him as a bondslave. The sweat is now gone – the pressure is off. He is recreating all my values.

The Final Shaking

What will happen when God begins to shake everything that can be shaken? When all false values tumble and earthly dreams and plans lose their meaning?

Sadly, many of God’s children are going to end up bewildered and confused. As the world moves into the era of economic collapse – when persecution falls even upon civilized nations – when governments are convulsing and tottering on the brink of total collapse — how many Christians will survive the test?

test

A lot of God’s people are going to wonder where they are. Ministers who are caught up in the trap of human vision will leave the ministry confused, all their work to no avail. Multitudes will be asking, “What’s it all about? What’s happening? What does the future hold? Where are we? Who can tell us the mind of God?”

We are now moving swiftly into what we know as the end time. We had better be in possession of a heavenly vision of holiness and humility. The testing time is coming down upon us with lightning speed. It is going to take more than a doctrine or a particular teaching to see us through. We are going to have to really know the Lord in His fullness. We had better have our eyes on eternal values. Only spiritual things are going to remain. Only spiritual people will understand what is happening and not faint. We must be linked up with the mind of the Spirit so we will not be thrown by the radical changes that are coming. We must bring ourselves, to the place we have nothing to lose. We need to walk away from all the junk in our lives — we are going to lose it all anyhow.

How much of God do you possess in this final hour of disintegration and fear? How earthly are you? How transitory are your desires? Have your values been sifted and purged by the Spirit of almighty God? How much of the world interests you — how much time is consumed in chasing after things that don’t matter now?

End-Time Restlessness

You will know when the Spirit is calling you out of the shallow Christianity about you. You will know when the Lord is wanting to touch you in a supernatural way. You will know when He is calling you out of the ordinary. He will stir your nest. An unexplainable divine restlessness will come upon you. You will become disinterested in what you have been doing. All your successes will leave you feeling empty and unfulfilled. Nothing that you have or do will meet the need in you for reality. You will sense that a very deep need in you has not yet been met — questions that have never been answered. A shadow of dissatisfaction will be cast over your entire life.

That is a mark of God’s dealing with you in a supernatural way, trying to get you to turn loose of all that you hold dear. It is His way of showing you that your needs are really spiritual and not physical.

You will feel His magnetic pull back to prayer — back to spiritual hunger, to broken-ness and self-emptying. Soon, you will be touching those satisfying eternal values and your soul will cry out, “This is what I’ve been wanting all along. He has taken away the earthly and replaced it with the spiritual.”

Saints, the key word is hunger. He has promised to fill the hungry heart. I have never been so hungry for God. That hunger almost overwhelms me at times. Every waking hour my heart reaches out to Him. Because His thoughts are always on my mind, the things of the world have lost their value. I see things as Paul did — nothing but the dung of this world. I am becoming a nobody—it feels so good.

Do you also sense this call to a deeper walk with God? Is your soul hungry for more of the Spirit in your life? If so, end the civil war in you — by yielding everything you have to the Master. The misery goes the very moment you surrender all to Him. You can know true peace and happiness the moment you quit trying to be somebody. Want nothing but Jesus, and your life will take on a new meaning.

rest

Don’t Waste Another Hour

My greatest grief is that it took so long for me to get out of God’s way. I wasted years doing things simply out of compassion. I was spiritually blind, not knowing that God must clearly direct every step I take. I had an international pulpit — preaching to thousands — with crowded altars. Thank God He showed me there was much more. The numbers and the crowds meant nothing. I wanted to see people get deeper into the Lord. I wanted nothing more to do with shallow decisions. God had to totally change my way of thinking, and now, like Gideon, I know that big is not always best.

Don’t let it happen to you. Take stock of your life and values. Shut yourself up with God alone in the secret closet. Pray diligently for spiritual hunger. Ask God to give you a spirit of sorrow for wasting so much time. Pray for a greater desire for His Word. Pray for a broken heart. Pray for a purging and a purifying work in your life. Then get ready to be cast into the fire of testing.

“…I will purge the sons of Levi…” (Mal. 3:3)

I can tell you it’s worth it! The purging will not seem joyous, but rather grievous. But you will soon glorify the Lord for the results in your life. All the anxiety will be gone. All worldly ambition will die. Your spiritual eyes will be opened to truth. The Spirit will give you revelation knowledge. You will exchange the riches of this world for the true riches of Christ Jesus. You will wake up each morning with an over-flowing joy. Your soul will cry out “I found what my soul has been longing for. Rest–beautiful rest in my Lord.”

You can then say with David, the Psalmist — “In his presence is there is fullness of joy; at his right hand there are pleasures forevermore…” (Ps.16:11).

Proof Scriptures

“…for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ So then everyone of us shall give an account of himself to God…”(Rom. 14:10-12).

“…The end of all things is at hand; be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer…” (I Pet. 4:7).

“… The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light…” (Rom. 13:12).

“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build, upon this foundation gold stones, wood, hay, stubble; every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire…” (I Cor. 3: 11-15).

MARIO MURILLO ANSWERS HIS CRITICS ON BEER, WINE, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

So far, 120,000 people have read my blog about wine, beer and the Holy Spirit.  I was blessed by how overwhelmingly positive the comments were.  I had braced myself for an onslaught of condemnation.  Of course I was not without criticism, so I am adding this follow up to answer my critics.  Understand however, this is my last word on this subject.  No matter how crazy the criticism, and even if I am offered a massive book deal (lol) I am through with this subject.

I was accused of lifting a single passage from the Old Testament to invent a legalism against alcohol.  Nope, I was declaring that—in this hour, due to the dire condition of America—the Holy Spirit was signaling certain vessels to a higher calling.  One of the things that will fall by the wayside in this calling is booze.

The verses that I cited are not an example of a new doctrine, but an instance in history where Kings and Rulers were told that wine, and beer were not for them, lest they pervert justice—a time when justice was murky, like it is now.  A time when keen senses are required.

Here is what I said, “I am convinced God is calling those who would be excellent, and powerful in the Spirit, to stop drinking alcohol…including beer.   Not out of legalism—not out of condemnation but because of this one phrase: IT IS NOT FOR YOU.”

Here are the passages I am accused of lifting out of context to build a legalism:  Proverbs 31: 4,5 , “It is not for kings, Lemuel—it is not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, lest they drink and forget what has been decreed, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights.”  To prove I am not lifting just one scriptural reference, I will show you another moment in the Bible where this specific abstinence was practiced.

I believe the Holy Spirit is raising that issue again for the very same reason.  God is leading certain vessels out of a highly addicted and stimulated culture—vessels who will hang straight and true like a plumb line as all the moral lines have been blurred.  If you believe I am lying about what the Holy Spirit has said to me fine, just don’t dance around the argument by saying I said things that I did not say.

I never thought I’d see the day when wine and beer would be a sacred cow to Christians.  The vehement rejection, by some, of even the possibility of abstaining, reveals the problem.  The fact that they use deflection—deliberately missing my point and accusing me of saying things I did not say—to protect drinking, is revealing.  I never talked about the Bible  banning responsible drinking.  I talked about a higher calling.

Others reminded me that Jesus drank wine.  I never said He didn’t.  However, we do know of an instance where Jesus refused wine and why.  House to House .com said, “Mark described the drink as wine mingled with myrrh (Mark 15:23). The drink offered to Jesus was a cheap Roman vinegar wine, which had a drug mixed in to dull the senses. It was the custom of the Romans to offer a man being crucified drugged wine so that he might more easily endure his cross. Jesus refused the wine, however, apparently so that He could go through his suffering with a clear mind.”   If you bring up the fact that Jesus drank wine.  I must bring up the time He refused it and why.  We are in such a time right now.

The overwhelming numbers who read the blog convince me something glorious is happening.  Crawling out of the religious swamp—where grace is bent, and Christians clamor to see how much of the world they can keep and still know God—there is a remnant.  That remnant is marked for special use.  It is the high calling in Christ.  Filter out the noise and listen—perhaps you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this.
