I’M NOT SAYING THIS… SCIENCE IS.

I was falsely accused of saying God was banning alcohol.  What I said was, “I am convinced God is calling those who would be excellent, and powerful in the Spirit, to stop drinking alcohol…including beer.”  I never said the Bible banned drinking.

But now—because of science–this has become is a health issue.  There is no safe level of alcohol consumption.

A large new global study published in the Lancet has confirmed previous research which has shown that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.

The researchers admit moderate drinking may protect against heart disease but found that the risk of cancer and other diseases outweighs these protections.

A study author said its findings were the most significant to date because of the range of factors considered.

How risky is moderate drinking?

The Global Burden of Disease study looked at levels of alcohol use and its health effects in 195 countries, including the UK, between 1990 and 2016.

Analyzing data from 15 to 95-year-olds, the researchers compared people who did not drink at all with those who had one alcoholic drink a day.

They found that out of 100,000 non-drinkers, 914 would develop an alcohol-related health problem such as cancer or suffer an injury.

But an extra four people would be affected if they drank one alcoholic drink a day.

For people who had two alcoholic drinks a day, 63 more developed a condition within a year and for those who consumed five drinks every day, there was an increase of 338 people, who developed a health problem.

One of the study authors, Prof Sonia Saxena, a researcher at Imperial College London and a practicing GP, said: “One drink a day does represent a small increased risk, but adjust that to the UK population as a whole and it represents a far bigger number, and most people are not drinking just one drink a day.”

A glass of red wine a day is not healthy, say researchers

The lead author of the study Dr Max Griswold, at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), University of Washington, said: “Previous studies have found a protective effect of alcohol on some conditions, but we found that the combined health risks associated with alcohol increases with any amount of alcohol.

“The strong association between alcohol consumption and the risk of cancer, injuries, and infectious diseases offset the protective effects for heart disease in our study.”

There’s more:

Professor David Nutt  wrote:

The myth of a safe level of drinking is a powerful claim. It is one that many health professionals appear to believe in and that the alcohol industry uses to defend its strategy of making the drug readily available at low prices.  However, the claim is wrong and the supporting evidence flawed.

There is no safe dose of alcohol for these reasons:

Alcohol is a toxin that kills cells such as microorganisms, which is why we use it to preserve food and sterilize skin, needles etc.  Alcohol kills humans too. A dose only four times as high as the amount that would make blood levels exceed drink-driving limits in the UK can kill. The toxicity of alcohol is worsened because in order for it to be cleared from the body it has to be metabolised to acetaldehyde, an even more toxic substance. Any food or drink contaminated with the amount of acetaldehyde that a unit of alcohol produces would be immediately banned as having an unacceptable health risk.

Although most people do not become addicted to alcohol on their first drink, a small proportion do.  As a clinical psychiatrist who has worked with alcoholics for more than 30 years, I have seen many people who have experienced a strong liking of alcohol from their very first exposure and then gone on to become addicted to it. We cannot at present predict who these people will be, so any exposure to alcohol runs the risk of producing addiction in some users.

The supposed cardiovascular benefits of a low level of alcohol intake in some middle-aged men cannot be taken as proof that alcohol is beneficial. To do that one would need a randomized trial where part of this group drink no alcohol, others drink in small amounts and others more heavily. Until this experiment has been done we don’t have proof that alcohol has health benefits. A recent example of where an epidemiological association was found not to be true when tested properly was hormone replacement therapy. Population observations suggested that HRT was beneficial for post-menopausal women, but when controlled trials were conducted it was found to cause more harm than good.

For all other diseases associated with alcohol there is no evidence of any benefit of low alcohol intake – the risks of accidents, cancer, ulcers etc rise inexorably with intake.

Hopefully these observations will help bring some honesty to the debate about alcohol, which kills up to 40,000 people a year in the UK and over 2.25 million worldwide in the latest 2011 WHO report.

We must not allow apologists for this toxic industry to pull the wool over our eyes with their myth of a safe alcohol dose, however appealing it might be to all us so-called “safe” drinkers. Remember these words of a man whose great family wealth and influence was built on illegal alcohol:

“The great enemy of the truth, is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived and dishonest – but the myth – persistent, persuasive and unrealistic. Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.” John F Kennedy

David Nutt is professor of neuropsychopharmacology at Imperial College London and chairs the Independent Scientific Committee on Drugs.

In conclusion:

I wrote the article about Christian leaders who drink long before this recent, large scale study confirmed there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.   It’s longer a debate about whether the Bible bans wine…it’s a health issue.  Now I know why the Holy Spirit led me to raise the issue.  What you do with this information is between you and God.  Remember, I’m not saying this science is.

IT’S TIME FOR ME TO TALK WITH YOU ABOUT RENO NV

This is a major prayer alert.  The Big Ask.  That is what I am calling for.  I need you to pray the big ask…I need a deluge of prayer right now.  Ask big!  An electrifying opportunity has fallen on us.  This is no exaggeration.

As you read this, local churches, outreach ministries, Inner City Action from Stockton, along with Mario Murillo Ministries, are combing the Reno/Sparks Nevada region.   We are in the homeless camps—not just with food and clothing but a powerful witness.  We are inviting the entire community.  You can already see our posters in store windows. We are handing out tens of thousands of cards.

Are the windows of heaven opening over Reno and Sparks Nevada?   A growing number of local leaders sense it.  There’s something special about this moment.  There are powerful indicators:  The region has been bathed in prayer—we saw unprecedented support and unity at our leader’s meeting August 4th—the city has given us a prime site in the heart of downtown Reno.

Now let me talk to you about that prime site: It’s 700 Sutro Street. Our tent will be visible from interstate 80.  That means anyone who drives through Reno will see our tent.  Our tent will cover most of the lot, so the city has given us permission to use large parking lots that surround the site. FAVOR!

Teams of intercessors will be walking this sacred ground between now and the start of our Living Proof Crusade.  They will ask for signs and wonders to explode on the people.  They will ask that cars driving past will feel the tractor beam of God’s love, pull off the interstate and come in the tent.  Please agree with us for mighty miracles!

Here’s the most urgent part of my letter:  It is a fact of war that when armies are stymied, a breakthrough anywhere can turn the tide of the war.  Just the report of a decisive victory anywhere can ignite the morale of an entire army.

This means that even if you don’t live anywhere near Reno you need to pray fervently for this outreach.  It does not matter in which city the American Awakening starts.  Lord, just let it start!

Now I am talking to anyone who lives near the Reno/Sparks region.  Christians have evangelized for thousands of years.  In that time, knowledge and technology has exploded.  Yet, two forces remain omnipotent: prayer and the personal invitation.

I know, because I have won souls for over 50 years, starting at U.C. Berkeley and in the Bay Area.  Nothing will ever replace the power of prayer, and word of mouth.  I can’t stress this enough: pray and bring someone to the tent!

Mark 6: 55 says, “they ran through that whole surrounding region and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was.” That last phrase says it all!

Under the tent, there will be wonderful music, powerful messages and surprises.  But, the greatest reason to bring people is because we know Jesus will be there.

All seats are free.  Remember, we’ll start at 6 PM on Sunday and at 7 PM Monday-Friday.  Let’s us pray for those you are bringing for healing or deliverance.  Call us at 775 238 3473.   I can’t wait to see you at the tent and I can’t wait to tell our partners across America what is happening under the tent!  -Mario Murillo

P.S.  If you want to volunteer for any of the many opportunities to help us with this outreach please call us at 775 238 3473 or click here to contact us  mariomurillo.org

THE SECRET TO WHY THEY HATE HIM? IT’S IN THE STORY OF LAZARUS

Gentle reader, Trump will not be impeached.  CNN is drooling, but it’s in vain because no campaign money was used illegally.  That said, let’s get to the heart of this blog.  Why do they hate him?  I don’t mean just leftists…I also mean Republicans.  The secret to this is found in—of all places—the story of Lazarus.

Except for a few Republicans with convictions, there really is no difference between Democrats and Republicans in Congress.  You can see it in the ongoing reluctance of Republicans to defend Trump.

Washington looks like there are two distinct world views colliding.  But conservative and liberal are mostly labels for show.  There is something deeper going on here.

Why is Trump so hated?  They don’t hate him because of Stormy Daniels, Omarosa, or because they think he is a racist, or because of his tweets.  It is a much darker motivation.

God used my devotions and reading of John 11—the story of Lazarus—to fully open my eyes.  When this understanding came to me, my burden for our president intensified.  I knew I had to write this to you so that we could agree together for his safety and for this evil to be exposed.

See if you see anything illuminating in these verses:

John 11: 45 Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him. 46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did. 47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, “What shall we do? For this Man works many signs. 48 If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.”  Do you see it?

Notice this phrase: “the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.”  Their first concern was for their place, not the nation.  That is exactly what is happening in Washington.  They are more concerned about keeping their place than helping the nation.

That dear friend, is what both Democrats and Republicans are doing—they are fighting to keep their place.  Not just in Congress but at the FBI, IRS and many other power centers.  All of these groups wanted Hillary to win, because she was the queen of the swamp.

Right now you have the proof.  Jeff Sessions has the power to end the witch hunt against Trump but he won’t.  Mueller’s abuse of power should be called into account but it won’t be.  Hillary should be in jail.  Obama and his cohorts should be indicted.  None of it happens because the politicians must keep their place.

Trump wants to do what works and what is best for America regardless of what side it offends and threatens.  It’s called pragmatism.  What enrages them is that it’s working.  He is winning, and winning, and they are sick of his winning.

Once upon a time, a famous preacher and a famous atheist agreed to hold debates across the country.  They didn’t tell the audience it was just a money making scheme.  They publicly attacked each—took offerings for their causes—and at the end of the night they split the take.  That is also what is happening in Washington.

-Barack Obama was given the Nobel Peace Prize for no reason.  Now Trump has brought North and South Korea together.  Do you think he will get the Nobel Prize for brokering the most amazing peace since Teddy Roosevelt?  Never.  Not even his own party will campaign for that.

Unemployment is at 3.9%.  It is the lowest among blacks and Latinos in recent memory.  His approval among likely voters is 51%.  Do you think Trump will be praised?  Never.

If you as a Christian can’t see the victories Trump is handing the church to have our voices heard, then you are blind.  The next miracle is to get our government back and and see true revival.  Trump is a bridge to all of that.  The hand of God is upon him.

It is time to bombard heaven for the deep state to be exposed.  We need to seek God like never before for special protection on Trump, Melania, the children, and the faithful few left in our government.  Ask big. Ask now

Ephesians 3: 20  “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

SMALL CHURCHES: GOD’S SECRET WEAPON

Why are they God’s secret weapon?   The answer lies in what happens when a nation gorges on sin.  Nothing can protect the sin sick soul from disgust, nausea, and the unholy hangover.
A convicted heart can reach the point where a slick church concert, outfitted with lights and fog, or a canned motivational spiel, can repulse them, just as much as the sin they are trying to escape.
A soul soaked in the sludge of our time, can yearn to collapse at a simple wooden altar, sob deep tears of remorse, and welcome the warm hand of a true pastor on their shoulder.
How can a small church be God’s secret weapon? I discovered how when I read something about the birth of Christ.  Matthew Henry said, “If the Son of God must be brought into the world, one might justly expect that he should be received with all the ceremony possible, that crowns and scepters should immediately have been laid at his feet, and that the high and mighty princes of the world should have been his humble servants; such a Messiah as this the Jews expected, but we see none of all this; he came into the world, and the world knew him not; nay, he came to his own, and his own received him not.”
It was a token of their sin that the Jews believed such lavish pomp and circumstance would greet the birth of Jesus.  Are we no less wicked when we assume revival will be born  on gleaming campuses, amid varied enticements, extracted from the wisdom of fast food marketing?
We can miss the birth of an awakening just as much as they missed the birth of Christ.   America has many forgotten Bethlehems.  There are many hidden Mangers where revival can, and will be born.

Why the small church?  Maybe because a special brokenness dwells there.  Think of the couples who faithfully lead undersized churches. They have done all they know to do.  They have been called fools for passing on the gimmicks that might have grown their crowd.  They watched families leave them for the greener pastures of regional churches.
Sunday after Sunday, they sigh. and once again call up the courage to lead their people with integrity and patience.  They pray and see no great change.  However, God has shown me that when they least expect it the fire will fall.  A supernatural signal will go out.   And because they know no one but God did it they will leave their hand off of moving of the Holy Spirit.
Revival can come to any size church.  There is nothing wrong with a big church that got big the right way, and for the right reason.  And no church will stay small in revival.
Why is a small church God’s secret weapon?  Because it is the last thing Satan expects.  Even though he reads this, he will still be totally unprepared.

DEAR CELEBRITY PREACHER…IT’S TIME TO REPENT.

The goal of your preaching was supposed to be influence, not popularity.  Instead, your pursuit of celebrity cost you your influence.  You believed big crowds and popularity would impact the culture.  Instead, it reduced you to a voice that entertains but does not transform.

These verses describe your harmless popularity:  Ezekiel 33: 31 “My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain. 32 Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice.”

How else can thousands hear you preach—but you can’t even close the crack house across the street?

What a reverse miracle!  Vast numbers of believers, commute to your church through squalor and human tragedy.  And afterwards go home the same way without making a dent in the works of Satan.

You may have built the first army in history that would rather bask in the beauty and attendance of the barracks, than in actual victories over the enemy.

Its time to rethink addictions to big screens, skinny jeans, and fog machines. Why is it time?  Psalms 119: 126 says, “It is time for You to act, O Lord, for they have regarded Your law as void.”

There was a season that camouflaged your ineffectiveness.  You could distract away from the hollow results and celebrate peace time pursuits.  Not now.  The God-hating left is hell-bent on silencing the church and framing all believers—including you—as bigots, haters and racists who must be silenced and marginalized from mainstream society.  It is over for ineffective churches.  God-hating elites and their mobs are burning down America.  This is America’s final call to choose between certain destruction and the Cross of Christ.

It is time to dismantle church incorporated and restore our allegiance to the Holy Spirit.  It is time to fire your marketeers and surrender to the original purposes of our faith, and the Word of God.

America does not need supermen.  It needs supernatural men.  Men who will consistently say no to self and yes to the Holy Spirit.  In your quest for “relevance” remember the Holy Spirit has the real power to invade this culture with “a mouth and wisdom that no man can gainsay nor resist.”

Today, abandon your career as a celebrity attraction preacher and return to preaching the Cross—the Blood—the dreadful day of the Lord—with signs and wonders.  Do these things:

1. This morning, not depend upon your own wit and ingenuity. Do not enter your pulpit armed with something some else has said that impressed you.  Don’t be an echo, be a voice.  Do not distrust or despair of the immediate and extraordinary aids of the Holy Spirit.  When you ask God for a sermon be ready to see that He already has something in mind that may be the opposite of what you want to say.

2. Make room for the moving of the Holy Spirit. Time to slay the express service and the golden idol of time management! What if God wants to break out among the people?  What if God fell this morning and accomplished in one day what your plan says will take 5 years?

3. Prepare yourself more and your sermon less. Take a truth that God is burning in your heart.  Pray until that truth overcomes you completely.  Let the fire of the Holy Ghost build up in you until you cannot take it anymore and go out and explode on the people.  Burn your notes if you must!

2 Corinthians 10:4 says, ” The Weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but they are mighty through God to the tearing down of strongholds.”   Holy Spirit driven preaching will would cut through our nation’s darkness with mind-boggling effectiveness.

E.M. Bounds said, “What the Church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use—men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men—men of prayer.”

WHAT IS GOD TRULY SAYING ABOUT AMERICA’S DESTRUCTION?

AMERICA IS PAST HOPE AND WILL BE DESTROYED?  AMERICA IS FAVORED AND WILL NEVER BE DESTROYED?  Almost all prophetic words today shout one of those two headlines   Facebook oozes with voices claiming to be prophets or mouthpieces for God.   The internet teems with self-appointed prophets who scream to be heard, bombarding us with “prophetic words.”

So, is there a word of the Lord in this hour?  What is God truly saying about America’s destruction?  All I can tell you is I walk in the fear of the Lord and the constant remembrance that one day I will stand before God and give an account for every word I have spoken.  Yet, for all that reverential fear my bones burn with a word for this hour.

My Spirit can’t hold it back:

That to autonomously pronounce judgement is to play God.  Doomsdayers are calling off the attack against evil when God has not.  They are sounding a false retreat.  They are making evangelism futile.  They are helping put souls in hell by discouraging soul-winners.

Don’t lie to yourself.  Don’t make up prophecies of judgement just because you are mad at the church.  Face it!  Your righteous indignation may be nothing more than a personal grudge that your ministry was rejected by the church.

However, the great danger is not an abundance of prophets of doom.  It is the false prophets of grace and entitlement who are most dangerous.

In a wonderful book entitled The American Miracle written by Michael Medved, we see astounding and undeniable examples of God stepping in when America seemed beyond hope.  However, these examples are not proof that judgement won’t come.  To assume this is sheer madness.

I want to use George Washington as an example of something that desperately needs to be said to the American church.  Washington died because of medical malpractice.  Back then doctors believed in bleeding sick patients.  Washington was already weak from his sickness—by taking blood out, the doctors made him weaker and finally killed him.  It was the worst thing they could have done.

Listen church!  Cheap grace is bleeding an already weakened church.   It helps set us up for national destruction.   For Satan, this the perfect theology.   Instead of a life-giving conviction and a robust will to fight—this perversion induces drowsiness and apathy.

Why do you think so any of our pastors are closet alcoholics and addicted to porn?  And what can you expect a poisoned vessel to preach on Sunday morning?

Past miracles don’t guarantee future mercy.  They should awaken urgency, overpowering gratitude, humility, and profound soul searching.  Throwing ourselves off the cliff of morality to prove the power of Grace tempts God and provokes wrath.

God is trying to show us the times and what to do: 1 Chronicles 12: 32 “of the sons of Issachar who understood the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” The entire chapter lists the military talent of each tribe of Israel.  This gift was Issachar’s weapon

Next, “prophets” who say America will be destroyed or who say America cannot be destroyed are dead wrong.  We are neither pardoned nor condemned.  Our fate has not yet been decided.

We are living in a moment of mercy: HOW SOON WE FORGET!  We were spared the horror of Hillary—the finishing touch of Obama’s death spiral—a permanently enslaving national debt—A Supreme Court chaining us to anti-God laws, freedom-killing environmentalism—open borders bringing perpetual Democratic control, crime and terrorism.

Trump’s election was a miracle meant to ignite the church.  His time is Washington will be short, ineffective and we will end up worse off than ever if the church fails to obey God.

Trump has had missteps as president.  This does not mean he was the wrong choice.  Would we dare abandon him so soon?   He needs our prayers.  He needs our support.

Here are the precise verses for this hour:  Ezra 9:  8 “And now for a little while grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage. 9 For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage; but He extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to repair the house of our God, to rebuild its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.”

If, after all the mercy God has demonstrated—in a miraculous election—we fail to repent, rise and take our rightful place in America’s future…we can be destroyed.

Listen again to Ezra:

Ezra 9:13 “And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, since You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such deliverance as this, 14 should we again break Your commandments, and join in marriage with the people committing these abominations? Would You not be angry with us until You had consumed us, so that there would be no remnant or survivor?”

Wrath comes when you do not properly respond to mercy:  2 Chronicles 32: 25 “But Hezekiah did not repay according to the favor shown him, for his heart was lifted up; therefore, wrath was looming over him and over Judah and Jerusalem.”

Look again at Ezra’s words: but He extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to repair the house of our God, to rebuild its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.”

Trump is a temporary reprieve.  Now we must do our part.  We must act on the mercy we have been shown.  He extended mercy so that we would do three things: Revive, Repair and Rebuild.

Revive: God commands us to seek a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  We dare not have church without it!  We dare not utter another word in the pulpit that denies it!  The word of the Lord for this hour is: cry out to God with heart of gratitude for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Here is the key promise if we do: 1 Samuel 10: 6 Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. 7 And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do as the occasion demands; for God is with you.

Repair:  The pulpit and our moral compass is broken.  They must be repaired!  Our wiring, plumbing and foundations are damaged.  Abortion and marriage are issues we lost because our leadership was broken.  We abandoned the Bible and did not arm ourselves or the congregation with convictions.

America needs Lions who roar from a righteous heart.  Away with secret sin and lukewarm grace.  Prayer will repair.  The voice that shakes hell and frees men and women from bondage is forged only in fervent prayer.  Satan does not respect your stage presence, education or tactics.  He knows a prayerless poser.  He only retreats before men and women who have been to Gethsemane.

Rebuild: We must come home to the Glorious Gospel.  We must dismantle all the silly things we have tried to say to this generation.  Forget about rebranding!  We need to rebuild our sermons from the ground up.  Let them be replete with Bible Verses.  Let them talk of the mighty God.  Fill them with content the Holy Spirit can use on lost souls!  The Good News must once again roll off our tongue in the office, on campus and at the mall.

The consequences of cheapening God’s mercy are too terrible to imagine.  The opportunity this miracle has opened is too wonderful to ignore.  That is the word of the Lord for this hour.

WHY YOUR DEEP FRUSTRATIONS ARE A SIGN GOD WILL USE YOU MIGHTILY

We face a new kind of evil.  We have never faced a threat like this before.  That is why God is creating special kinds of people to be used in special kinds of ways.  What do these people look like?

We picture bold, assertive, natural born leaders taking the stage.  We assume the Holy Spirit would instill great confidence and audacity in those He has selected for special service.

In fact, the opposite is true.  He inflicts those He chooses with deep frustrations.  They are restless, they are weakened by confusing emotions.  Often, they don’t feel very spiritual at all.  The greatest gift He gives them is a desperate hunger.

In fact, your deep frustrations are a sign that God is going to use you mightily…because they create desperate hunger.

Yes, desperate hunger is a great gift.  Although, when you first get it, you will be convinced you are being punished not blessed.

Jesus said “blessed are those who hunger and thirst…”  It seems a contradictory statement but a closer look reveals eternal wisdom.

God is carving out your soul to create a greater capacity for His power.  You are getting desperate for something—your appetite for that one thing is increasing.  It seems cruel but it makes perfect sense: God wants you to want something you can’t have.  It is in the not having it, that your desire intensifies.

The Bible says, “But to Hannah he would give a double portion, for he loved Hannah, although the Lord had closed her womb. And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb.” -1 Samuel 1:5,6

Look at that!  God is creating unbearable frustration.  But, by depriving her of children, it increased two things in her soul: Her willingness to sacrifice and her appreciation for the blessings when they come.  In other words, she will be an amazing example of willingness and appreciation.

God didn’t want Hannah to get over wanting Children.  He wanted her to yearn for them even more.  The end result is one of the most powerful women in history—the mother of Samuel the prophet.  In Jewish tradition, Samuel is second only to Moses as a prophet.

Hannah’s total reward often goes unnoticed.  True, she surrendered her first born to God but it says in 1 Samuel 2: 21 And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile the child Samuel grew before the Lord.”

It was Elisha’s insatiable hunger for the anointing that made him ask for a double portion from Elijah.   Many, of today’s leaders ask for just enough to get by.  They will never destroy the strongholds of Satan.  They fold at the first sign of resistance.  Not so, the vessel born of desperate hunger.  When they finally get their chance, they will never stop, and they will never corrupt their God-given stewardship.  Your frustration and desperate hunger is qualifying you for something astounding.

All of this is well and good but it is not a great comfort when you are in the depths of frustration.  Desperate hunger from God can test us to the maximum.  We look for signs that our hunger will be fulfilled.  We yearn for proof that we will not die from disappointment.  Well beloved, the proof is right under our nose.  In fact, the hunger itself is the proof of the fulfillment.

Jesus said, Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled.”-Matthew 5:5  In other words, if you hunger, you are blessed because that is the proof you shall be filled.

Alexander MacLaren the great Bible Commentator said this, “that hunger is the sure precursor and infallible prophet of the coming satisfaction.”
